What EA said:
Halloween is right around the corner, and everyone is trying to guess what crazy thing will happen this year. Bart thinks all of the guesses are pretty lame and is afraid that one of them might actually happen, so to push fate in the direction he thinks will be more fun, and to see some monsters that he thinks will be cooler, Bart hatches a scheme to try to entice the Ki-Ya Karate Monsters to come to Earth by insulting them with bogus character rankings. Unfortunately, his message is received by the Xylem, who come to Earth and try to take over Springfield with monster trees.

Good grief yet another month of 4 hour tasks grind, how DO they keep coming up with such fresh exciting material?
All the prizes are going straight into storage waiting for the day when they sweep our stored items clean again.
I’ll bet Xmas utterly blows too
Wow, way to stay positive! I get being unhappy with the current event, but to assume the next one will “blow” is what seems unnecessarily negative to me. If you hate the game so much, why don’t you just stop playing? No one’s forcing you to continue to play.
While I don’t particularly care for the prizes in this act (I avoid spoilers, so don’t know whether I’ll like the ones in the other acts of this event or not), and I agree that the gameplay has become very repetitive and miss some of the other aspects the game used to have, I still appreciate the fun dialog. Also, the upside of the simplified gameplay is that, if I don’t feel like collecting all of my characters’ tasks and building income, I can keep up with an event by spending just a few minutes a day in the game. And some events have still provided fodder for some fun designing, like I got to do after the Mirror Mayhem event, for example.
Thanks for that. The Halloween event, being one of the ‘biggies’ is the same old same old and a missed chance for something memorable. I think that it’s not wildly unreasonable to assume, based on all the events that I’ve played after returning to the game recently, that the Xmas event will be another half-arsed, hastily cobbled together disappointment.
As ever, other opinions are available.

Hey Graham, hope all is well, I have the same issue..pod but no xylem, I usually get all donut premiums so maybe it was cash purchase? Sure hope we get a chance at it

The Pod Patch was back in For All Rich Mankind, free in 2018 and 20 Ds on return
I remember getting this character when it released but it has vanished and the pod patch remains. This time I got a token for donuts and that’s it. I put the pod patch back into storage and pulled it out again, nothing has appeared.
I hope EA looks into this and makes it so we can get one again. Even if I have to pay donuts for it! (or they can take back the 12 donuts I got for the token) I bought it because I really loved the smoke rings it blows. It is cute.
It’s not tied to the Pod Patch, back in 2018 that was free and Xylem cost 90 Ds.
A few months ago we got offered the Pod Patch for 20 Ds, but this is the first time Xylem came back in all those years.
My game is stuck again on the splash screen! Can’t get into the game????

I’ve copied the relevant bits and I’ll add – if you get an endlessly spinning donut it’s basically a broken Bart Screen that’ll sit there and wait forever for you to tap a Retry Button that is not there !!
The Kill and Restart and the No Internet tips apply for the Endless Donut too.
If it’s the Can’t Connect ( Bart Screen ) close your game either in Recent Apps – often as simple as swiping it off from there, but depends on device – or find it in Settings and Force Close, then restart it from the App Icon, not a Notification.
If Bart pops back up only hit Retry once. If it keeps coming back with a countdown kill the game and restart it again.
If that keeps happening turn off the Internet access for your device, both WiFi and Mobile Data if you have both options.
Usually you can do that with the Drop Down menu for the device, or can edit that to include those.
If you restart or reload your game with no internet you get a different Can’t Connect message that says it’s your fault.
When that shows up swipe down for that menu and restart the Internet for your device.
Give it a moment to connect then hit Retry on that alternate message.

What about the other ki ya monsters in the splash screen? Were they available previously or perhaps someday they will be?

I’m not super excited about the event and wasn’t planning on going hard core, but that Kang and Kodos teaser has me wondering….do we know what it is?.

It wasn’t in the info pack and with Google taking so long to release the update yesterday I haven’t had much of a look at it.
I was still writing the Rundown at about 1am last night !!
So it’s just Kang & Kodos? I’ve already got them…guess I don’t have to worry about getting all Acts completed then.
I’m very confused. Apparently, I have the pod patch, but no Xylem. I don’t understand that, because, for many, many years now (certainly as far back as 2018!) I’ve purchased ALL characters that were available for donuts. The only characters I don’t have are ones that were only available for real cash and were never rereleased for donuts. So how can I not have Xylem?? I don’t want another stupid token that I probably don’t need, because I usually already have all of the items the token would purchased and, if not, it’s because I didn’t want them in the first place)!
I know they never do this, but I do wish they’d at least make Xylem available for purchase (with donuts) even for those of us who have the pod patch. 😔
I’d need to go find the … thing again, but there was a teaser and a tie-in as well as the actual THOH in 2018. Xylem was in the tie-in so it may be it was not there long and easily missed ??
Still sounds odd…I don’t remember ever missing anything, since I started playing in 2014 (although, in the very early days, I couldn’t afford to buy all the premium stuff). I do have the pod patch, which was in inventory when I went looking for it. I had hoped that maybe storing it might make something happen, but it was already stored, so no help. (I even tried taking it out of inventory and placing it, but still nothing.) I didn’t really expect either to make a difference, but figured it was worth a try!
Nah, it checks if Owned or for Xylem if Unlocked.
Hiding stuff in inventory won’t fool them !!
My B town is from late 2019 and I dunno if I have one without the other ( probably ) or I might’ve tried my luck like that and hoped for the best !!

Yes there is a bug. In 2018 thoh event they have for free pod patch instead Xylem was premium (90 donuts). Here they give together Xylem and pod patch but it seems that if you have only pod patch (like me) the game thinks that you have also Xylem so it gives you the token as first prize. I told it to EA please do the same: click settings in game, help and go to ea support.
While I haven’t been able to find a definite answer the usual rule is because they’re unique items then if you own one thing in a bundle you can’t / won’t get the other(s). Sorry.
Pity the Pod Patch didn’t unlock Xylem, but they’re not linked like that.
I hope they fix it. A lot of people have this problem!!
It’s been raised with the Devs, but what they decide to do about it is anyone’s guess …

Seems that when you buy the premium combo of the Christmas tree farm and the Might Oak Leader, you get the farm and the premium character and the Mighty Oak is playable in the tasks.. BUT what isn’t happening is it reasserting as being collected.. it’s still shaded out on the collection list… alien Bart shows.. but not the Mighty Oak.
It’s quite a dark image, especially compared with the luminous Alien Bart so it may look like that to you.
I saw someone’s screenshot of the set and thought they had this problem but nope.
I did a Before and After for it, and it did show up, but it’s not that easy to tell unless you saw the one with it dulled out.

I am having trouble getting past the screen shot. The donut is circling but nothing else is coming up. Any ideas?
Whenever I get a constant spinning donut, I do an uninstall/reinstall of the game. It always works for me.
Same here. Works on my iPhone but not on my iPad. Same spinning donut there
Shut down the game – if it shows up in Recent Apps it’s still running in the background.
It may be as easy as swiping it off in Recent Apps, but that depends on the device, or find it in Settings and Force Close.
Once you’ve done that restart it from the App Icon, not a Notification
Had to uninstall and reinstall game, and re-login, that worked. Too bad had to download 2,821 MB of game files. Took about 20 min.
I already have the Pod Patch but no Xylem. How can I get the character if I already have the Pod Patch?
I think I’m in the same boat. I didn’t think I have the Pod Patch, but maybe I do…. too much stuff in my town, I have no idea where it might be… but I definitely don’t have Xylem, and I got a token instead. Of course, since I have everything in the mystery box, the box didn’t appear and I got donuts instead anyway…
Is the Monster minion bundle (returning content available for donut purchase) NPCs or decorations?
I thought that I had this character and definitely the pod patch, but I’m not seeing him in my character list nor the pod. My first prize is the token so I checked my storage and not seeing them.
Is there a bug with the update? How can I be certain?
Ok looks like I had the pod patch buried behind a house so I appear to be in the same boat as those above that have the pod patch, but no Xylem. I might have been mixing him up with Treestache.
Hopefully EA fixes this so I can have the character instead of the token. I’ll hold off on completing the first prize for a day and see if you post a fix tomorrow.

If they do decide to do something about it they’ll probably either let you keep the token anyway and do it as a Gift for players past pt.1 who have that Pod Patch, tie Xylem to the Pod Patch so owning it unlocks Xylem anyway or add it to the Store / Mystery Box for purchase is my guess.
PS – we just write about the game, we can’t change anything.

I do have some access, but the Devs don’t even really talk to the EA Team I can connect with, never mind a lowly player !!
I can’t even remember if I have Xylem in my B town, but that’s showing the prize as a token. If I do have the problem then I’ll see any fix, but I might not know until someone somewhere comments on it.
I will be keeping an eye out though.
