Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons or current Tapped Out event) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So, here is your Open Thread…..
Not much you may have missed this week around the Addicts Site. Oh, except:
So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, end of the game, or anything else you can think of! (Just no politics, it never ends well) Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!
Have Fun! And happy Sunday!

Who else has already nuked their town?
I haven‘t been on here for some time, although there were times I spent more time on this website than in the game. With the game ending I am getting a bit nostalgic, and wanted to tell everyone who has been working (and commenting) on TSTO Addicts how much I appreciated every single one of you. Thanks a million!
While it’s great have many of the past items/decorations/characters/etc. available, it does get tedious scrolling as it often goes back to the beginning after buying an item. For example, I would buy one of the country flags in the Taps Pt. 1 Store Panel but after I buy one, place it on my town and return to the Taps Pt. 1 Store Panel, it goes all the way to the beginning as I have to scroll again instead of placing me where I left off as I wanted to get another flag.
Whenever I sent my characters to their 24 hr tasks through the Unemployment Office, it forgets to include Jay G despite him having a 24 hr task (petting his goose). BTW, it turns out Gummy Joe does finally have a 24 hr task (something to do with reality show auctions).
Scroll to where you want in the store ( or inventory ) then hit the X in the top right to close it.
Open it again and it’s where you left off
That worked. Thank you for the advice.
All this time I was tapping on the top left arrow.
Hey, is there any way to get OLD content? I’m specifically thinking about the Zoominator main piece. (I just bought a bunch of Zoominator track from the store, wanting to add a new feature, but now I find I’m missing the most important piece!) I’m guessing that a lot of these old items are just gone-gone-gone, but I figured it didn’t hurt to ask.
If you don’t own it there should be a Zoominator bundle for 100 Ds in Wave 3.
If that’s not there check the Decorations section of Inventory, but you’ll have to scroll a while.
As far as I can tell it hasn’t been re-released since summer 2018 until now though
Question re The Zoominator. Apparently I never got it before, so I went ahead and got it, assembled what looks like a workable layout (no red lights) – but now what?
AFAIK, the only characters who have “jobs” there are the Big Four (Bart, Lisa, Homer, Marge), but I didn’t find any such task for Bart. Maybe I missed it.
When I click on it, nothing happens. I would have thought it’d show SOME reaction, but no.
What am I missing?
Is there something else I need to do to make it “work”? I’d love to see whatever animation it does, and the Simpsons Wiki even says the animation can be turned on and off, but doesn’t say HOW.
Help!
Check that everything lines up to connect – it can be a bit tricky as I recall
It’s definitely lined up. I even made a super-short version (2 ends and one corner), same thing.
If you have one set up, what happens when you click on it?
(PS: I’d love to at least see the animations, even if I don’t want them on all the time.)
It needs to start and stop at the building bit with an unbroken loop of track
Wait, so it’s supposed to be a LOOP? I thought it was one way! Plunge-to-Plunge. OK, I made a loop, but the “Plunge” bits seem to have to be ENDS. Nothing else that I see can connect its track to the high side of the plunge. I’m confused. Can you take a shot of your Zoominator so I can at least see a working version? Thanks!
These were from Patric from the event …
https://tstoaddicts.com/2018/06/29/itchy-and-scratchy-land-act-iii-prizes-prize-1-the-zoominator/
I nuked my A town and haven’t picked it up yet for either of my other two, so I don’t have an active one right now
If that doesn’t help I’ll see about a simple one for one town tomorrow, it’s almost 4am here
Well, I see part of the problem. All I have is track sections, corners, plunges… but no section labeled “Zoominator” itself! Apparently that’s not in the store, or at least I didn’t see it. I was going through there just to see what cool stuff I missed the first time around, and saw the Zoominator pieces, and decided to make it. Well, I guess if I can’t get that main piece, I’m out of luck. I’ll look through my old storage, but I’ll bet I never got it, and they’re not re-releasing it. If those are both true, then I’m definitely out of luck.
Thanks for giving me that link, that was very helpful.
BTW – the animations may cause the game to lag
I just got Butterfly Maggie somehow buying a building or decoration… which unlocked a new skin I never knew about and dialog I’ve never seen. Does anyone know what I bought to unlock that (it wasn’t a boatload of donuts)?
crazy how fast i needed land once i started getting the taps good. My favorites so far have been expanding my NW passage area, Praiseland, bar flys, and Anchor Management
Yo, did they kill the taps 1 items? Thanks in advance!
Nope, it’s all still there
Maybe we should start talking about the best game alternatives to playing this game? Anyone have any suggestions? I know it won’t be the same as TSTO, but it might still be fun.
Reverend Lovejoy: “Dearly beloved, we gather here today under a cloud of despair. It seems our faith has been misplaced, and our prayers have fallen on deaf ears. The Sky Finger, our supposed divine protector, has abandoned us. We are but mere pixels in a game, destined to be deleted.I won’t sugarcoat it—this is a bitter pill to swallow. We’ve wasted our lives in devotion, only to be cast aside like yesterday’s trash. But perhaps, in these final days, we can find some semblance of meaning. Or not. Who knows? Amen.”
If we could have one more character (I know this isn’t going to happen) I would have liked Mrs. Vanderbilt (the “well I Never!” fainting socialite).
Or get Gil as a full character (since we won’t see him pop up anymore).
While I’m at it, there was the Monorail Salesman that popped up in the game during that event, wished he or any other Phil Hartman characters.
*sigh* I’m going to miss this (my commenting on things I hoped for) but.. IDK.
This is probably old news – but in case anyone hasn’t figured it out (took me a while!). If you have the ‘God’ character and set him to 24hr task = 777777 cash, if you speed him up at a cost of 260 donuts you can get more cash back with a bonus % to buy more donuts than you spent. It’s an easy way to get loads of cash and donuts (no more farming!). If you have a good star bonus % you could get a lot…
I’m on about 2000% bonus and get 16.5million cash from ‘God’ 24hr task. Which means I can buy 5 lots of the 1600 donut packs for 3mil each. Does make it super quick to get cash (if you need it for land or gold road sections) or donuts for the items in the shop.
I hope it might help someone who’s trying to max out on items or mystery box etc be able to get all they want before it’s too late 😭😭😭. Such a shame it’s coming to an end – thanks Addicts team for keeping us all in the loop and up to date on all we need to know.
It said I had been playing for 9 years and was shocked when I first saw the notice about it closing next year but after claiming about 70k in donuts, buying anything that looked to have a quest line attached to it and fast tracking the quests I am now only logging in once a day. A few years ago the game was running very slow so I removed all the roads and any building not attached to a character. From then on i just put any new building won in an event wherever it was placed by the game. I was going to nuke the town on 1st of January and just place homer and Lisa like in the beginning but after reading another comment I think I will send them all on 24 (or is that infinity) hour tasks. I’m sure I could Google this but why can’t we keep our towns after they switch off the servers? Is 3gb of game data stored on our tablets only 1% of what is needed to make the game interactive/alive with the rest being held on the servers. Thank you and D’OH!
I’ve been playing Tapped Out every day since its beginning (I predated the grand initial glitch) and I’m sad to see this daily routine of mine fade away. If we must go gently into that dark night, I do wish they would change the seasons for us.
One last fall foliage, one last winter snow.
I doubt it will happen, but hope springs eternal.
Ps. I haven’t loved every event, and lately I’ve liked maybe 1 out of every 5, but I’ll forever miss the early THOH events and I’ll forever loathe that stupid broken prize wheel that robbed me of many a donut.
Thanks for the work you put in building the community over the years.
I thought you’d might like to check out my Westeros map design on TSTO https://www.reddit.com/r/tappedout/s/kwX75wFjka
Well that’s different, but in a good way.
I encourage everyone to go check out these designs. Dude…they’re all great…some are spectacular! Well done!
Great work! Outstanding job.
Wow….that’s insane. What good work.
Absolutely marvelous!!
Hello, TSTO community. It’s been a long time since I last visited this blog and have a lot to say.
I had not played Tapped Out in over four years. Uninstalled immediately after that Gamer of Games event and sent all my characters to their 24-hour tasks (if they had one or if they were required with another character). Never looked back until I heard the news that Tapped Out is shutting down soon. In one hand, I’m shocked that this game is ending as the parent show continues to chug along (for better or worse as a classic-era Simpsons fan). Also, there still many characters, locations, items, etc. from the long history of The Simpsons that are still not present in Tapped Out.
All that said, part of me is sad as Tapped Out was one of the first mobile games I ever installed on an Android tablet (way back in 2013) and quickly got addicted to it, which is ironic as I don’t watch modern Simpsons (haven’t watch the show regularly since about 2007). One thing I do appreciate about Tapped Out is that game presents both classic and modern-era Simpsons material during my roughly 7-year period of playing. Always found the idea of building Springfield intriguing and I had over 400 characters, max cash and over 5000 donuts (much of it due to farming) by the time I last played it. I did spend real money on occasion with my total spending was about $50. I wasn’t a whale or anything. This blog in particular was very helpful in how to navigate through the game and I learned the method of donut farming. Don’t know how far I would have gone had I not learned of donut farming. Would have likely quit Tapped Out a lot sooner.
Having played Tapped Out for the first time in four years feels refreshing in a way. Very generous for EA for the player get so many donuts during the last three months but it does make donut farming kind of pointless now. I also unlocked all of the available land though my Springfield is a mess right now. On a side note, I had forgotten how much of a storage hog Tapped Out was as it takes over 3 GB of storage (My current Android can hold up to 32 GB storage). I had other apps installed (including a few games) and had to uninstall some of them just to make room for Tapped Out. It also eats up a lot of battery.
One reason I originally tapped out (no pun intended) was that the major events were too predictable and boring. They were also indistinguishable from the mini-events. I liked some of the older event formats, such the 1st Superheroes event and the one Christmas event where elves could be shot from a cannon (you could also send friends up to 3 presents per day). Of course, there were some bad events, such as that one Easter event (forgot the year) many players hated and that Harry Potter-themed Halloween event. Despite their shortcomings, even those events at least tried something new. Excluding the main Simpson family members, it is always the same small set of characters involved in 4-hr grind events (Moe, Cletus, Skinner, Flanders, etc.) in a cast of over hundreds. I get helping newer players but long-time players with a larger collection of characters should feel more rewarded during events. Have other characters participate in an event for a change.
Another factor that led to my decision to uninstall Tapped Out was scrolling down the ever-growing character selection. It’s easy to select a character that starts with a letter in the beginning of the alphabet, such as Apu, but scrolling down to search for a character whose letter starts with one of the last letters of the alphabet (such as Uter) can get really tedious. The Town Hall Census and Unemployment Office features really needed an overhaul, such as a search function for a specific character or item. Another reason I tapped out was constantly getting that Bart Screen of Death whenever I donut farmed. I had an older android tablet back then and donut farming wasn’t as fun because of it.
Still very disappointed that Maude Flanders didn’t get her human form skin (I don’t like Ghost Maude) as that was one of the reasons I held on to Tapped Out as long as I did despite my increasing dissatisfaction with the state of the game’s events. It shouldn’t have been THAT hard to create one! Yet let’s give Homer yet another alternate skin! Yay! (/sarc) I’m also surprised that the 80s Tracey Ullman-era Simpsons weren’t in the game (either as alternate skins or separate characters). Other characters from the 35+ year run of the show that didn’t make the game, include Charlie (Homer’s co-worker at the power plant), the two Weasels (Nelson’s flunkies during the early seasons), Richard (the kid that hangs with Lewis, one of Bart’s friends during the earlier seasons), Just Stamp the Ticket Guy, Bill & Marty (radio guys), Clancy Bouvier (Marge’s dad), Lisa Jr (from that episode where Homer is on an island hiding from PBS donors), etc. Way too many more to mention. And there were the characters voiced by Phil Hartman (R.I.P.), such as Troy McClure & Lionel Hutz, but it’s understandable why they are absent from the game and from any post-1990s Simpsons media.
I plan to stick around and get everything Tapped Out had to offer that I didn’t get originally, plus the new stuff added since I last played in 2020. I won’t nuke my Springfield and plan to send all my characters to their 24 hour task (if they have one as I still remember Gummy Joe not having one) for the last time and uninstall the game afterwards.
My message was quite long but I thank the TSTO community for reading through this message and everything they did to keep the spirit of the game alive.
Farewell, TSTO.
I want to thank the TSTO Addicts community, especially our hosts, Safi, Graham, Bunny, Wookie and especially Alissa. Everyone who made comments and gave advice helped make this game so much more enjoyable. Alissa, you have been a Wonder Woman keeping this website going while simultaneously working and raising a family. I will continue to playing while we still can because I still enjoy it.
Like everyone we are in limbo, waiting for the end, I have been on halloween mode trying to recreate an event, the feeling that we get when an event happens.
Will probably do the same nearer christmas.
It’s not the same, something is missing.
Free amount of donuts or currency took the fun out of it, all you can eat buffet.
I have added new items and expanded some areas as I would normally with big events but don’t want to change my town that much, We have unlimited donuts and currency, I went from 32k to 250k In a few taps.
The new land we got is full of all my storage items I couldn’t put in my town, I should build a wall and call it the dump island.
I just hope EA give us christmas in some way or form, after all the time we have played, over 11 years for me, we deserve that at the least for loyalty in playing and giving for so long.
Have a good week all, whatever your/you’re doing lol 😆 😉
Is there going to be a Hallowwen and Christmas game this year or is it dead as is?
This is it, no more events to come 🙁
