TSTO Private Servers, Your Thoughts

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

I’ve received some messages from a few people running private servers, and they wanted me to let you all know that there are still options for continuing your TSTO experience on a private server. Before diving into it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Would you be interested in playing TSTO on a private server? Maybe you’re curious but aren’t sure how it works or where to even start? Or have you moved on from TSTO entirely?

Feel free to share your thoughts, and we can figure out the best path forward together!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

– Alissa

P.S. I’m hoping to do a couple of live videos trying out new games, but time just has not been on my side lately. I still intend on doing it though, so if you have suggestions for new games let me know.  Thanks!

  1. I’m totally down for private server play.

  2. Playing or not maybe 60/40 in favor. Cost? Tea or coffee, which is best. Lots of belly buttons because everyone has one, ditto opinions! But sounds intriguing.

I play for many years and was so sad when they decided do delete the app for the store. Have had the hard to delete the app from my tablet hoping it comes back. Probably wishful thinking 😭

  4. Yeah I would still play the game if it was on a private server.

  5. I loved playing the Simpson
If there is a way to play again I am in
Let me know what I need to do
I spent lots on donuts to lose it all
    Thank you and good luck

  6. Michele McMullan

Yes! Even though I don’t know what a private server is.

  7. Thanks Alissa, yes, I would love to have the game back. Was in the middle of collecting gold tiles! Keep us posted. Oh, doers a private server cost $$?
    😉

  8. Who wouldn’t want to continue if we could do a private server? That’s a no brainer

  9. I would love to play again. Found my game on the list. Even if it can’t be revived, I wouldn’t mind starting from scratch. I’m okay with that.

  10. I would love to play again, especially if the town was saved.
I’m sure it’d be a different experience with no new content coming in, but the game itself was the perfect level of town/world builder for me. I never found anything else that wasn’t either WAY too complex or totally brain-dead.

How can we set up to try? I have app still and my town is also in the list @ https://towns.spanser.dev/

  12. Christopher Hannah

I would love to return to my Springfield, but with the app deleted, am I out of luck? I haven’t played a game since it ended.

  13. Would definitely like to know how this works. Did someone download or get access to the servers as they were when the game came offline? I would only play with my existing town, not start over.

  14. Hi, I’d definitely like to play again! I’m aware there are servers out there but no idea how to use them. My town was saved on one of those download things,so should be able to visit it again, I think, in theory!

  15. Honestly, I miss the game but already deleted my app. I would be interested in this if – 1 – there was a licensing agreement for the characters and content so I knew it wouldn’t be shuttered randomly, and 2 – my everything could be restored

  16. I think it could be fun to have access if it was possible even just to finish building out my town which I never got to do after nuking in 2015…since there’s no new content anymore maybe I’d finally.fond the creative juices to get my town whole agsin.

I have tried a few games since THE END and they didn’t last long, I am to set in my ways to commit, I would like to be able to log into my game and see my town again but would have to fully know what’s involved, how I do it and how secure it would be, possibly with a lot more information I would consider it, tbc

  18. Susie Schainost (mommy62)

I would LOVE to play again!!!! Woohooo!!!

  19. I’d be curious to know of how that would work for sure!

  20. I miss my Springfield so much, if there was a way to somehow continue this game I would be so grateful. Even if we couldn’t add more characters I would enjoy returning there on the almost daily routine I was used to for 12 years. BRING IT!

  21. Yes! I would love to run my Springfield on a private server. And, no, I don’t know how to go about that.

  22. Sounds great but I cannot imagine starting over again.

  23. Michael Reardon

I would be interested to know more.

  24. Omg I am more than interested 1000x over! I need more info….I’ve tried countless games and this is the the only one that I’ve ever played more than I week and am still devastated it’s gone

  25. That would be great, especially if they unlocked everything to buy.

  26. It’s not something I’m going to be pursuing. As much as I’d love it it’s not worth the risk. 🙁

Alot of Facebook Admins in Tapped Out Groups have said it’s illegal and it’s best to have nothing to do with it when the hammer drops.

So as much as I’d love to keep tapping it isn’t worth the risk for me. 🙁

    • I’m not sure whether I’m interested, personally, but, while I wouldn’t be surprised if TPTB went after the folks running the server, it seems unlikely that they’d go after all of the players….it just wouldn’t be practical.

      • Karenskuality

And, if limiting yourself to a private servers…that is only used on your home internet locally, there’s zero chance (even if they cared to go after the players, which I kind of doubt…what would they gain?) they’d be able to detect it.

      • karenskuality

You’re a bit more daring than I am, I never wanted to “rock the boat” but I do know it’s an option. In the public server, they’re going to soon add friends so…if you ever did it, we could be friends once again!

    • While it is illegal, no one has even been fined or prosecuted for downloading a rom (an old game type) and it is generally considered OK to download it. It can be a bit different for more recent titles, but ESPECIALLY with titles like this- there is a 0% change EA or Disney or anyone will hunt you down or something. The game is no longer receiving support, Ea is now ignoring it, their license to use the Simpsons has expired anyway, and no matter what at most a few thousand people will download this. You don’t need to worry. They’re not losing any money, so they don’t care.

  27. I would be interested but I don’t know how it works

  28. Emanuel Maisonet

I would so love to be on my springfield again been playing fouffy town (cute cat builder game) but its not the same

  29. karenskuality

Further good news? They have now opened up the first “public server”, so you don’t have to configure anything on your own PC…just install the APK on Android. It’s working very nicely, and if you’d backed up your town, or if the main archive of backed up towns has your old town, you can pick up right where you left off on 1-24! (Wow, crazy to think it’s been a little over 2 months)

If you branch out to other games, would love a website or occasional post about Snoopy Town Tale! Very different. But still fun town building game.

    • KRoon64/ Keith Rooney

How would anyone know if the APK be genuine and not contain mallware and steal data, that’s the worrying part of it.

      • karenskuality

Maybe a bit if they spent time (like in testing the private servers, etc) to get to know the parties involved, and their motivations? Truly, you don’t KNOW 100% every app in the store (or android, by sideloading) is 100% safe either…bc you can’t get into the source. And even if we could, most wouldn’t know what to look for. I think it mostly comes from knowing those involved and what sorts of people the behave like over time?

But you’re right, if that concerned…best not to play.

p.s. soon they’ll have friends working in the public server (I’m told), and then we’d be able to visit a lot of our old friends as well!

        • KRoon64/ Keith Rooney

The more I know and learn about the process and how to get my town up and running the better, I so much want to open my town again as is everyone else who spent years playing so the more information the better.. thanks for your reply

          • Karenskuality

No problem. It’s not too bad, and been lots of fun… without the mindless/uber repetitive events and mini-events (but I still wish we had the new ones coming). Need any further help with it, just reach out…I posted the YouTube tutorial link in several places in this page.

            • Can you play past events that occurred before you started playing? I’m guessing not (I’m guessing you can’t play any events at all), but figured it was worth asking!

            • Actually, maybe I should have asked a broader question….what can and can’t you do? Can you buy stuff from the store? I think you said you can visit neighbors, right? Apologies if all of that is covered in the video…. haven’t had a chance to check that out yet.

              • karenskuality

Not sure on the public server, but last version of the private server you could turn events on or off. I had them off bc I’d already completed the previous events. But I assume if you started a new town the events would play. I think friends will be added soon… but I don’t know any details (if just “dummy friends” that you put in a list, or if actual friends who might also be on the same public server). You can buy stuff from the store, etc

              • Sandra Shill

Thanks for the additional info! If you turn events on, can you just play the ones you never got to do because they were from before you started playing?

  30. Alissa I would love to be able to play again and I did save my game per their instructions just in case. I just don’t know how to do it tbh and would love to have a tutorial or some kind of help to get it up and running. Looking forward to what others think here as well. Yes, I have missed the game so very much and have still kept it on my phone just in case 🙂

There’s a great video on YouTube, and I’ve also personally communicated on many occasions with the guy who recorded it…would you like me to share a link? There’s also a lot on Reddit by this main group.
