Addicts Bracket Challenge: Best Splash Screen, Week 10

It was seven years ago, just after the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs bracket was complete that I thought it might be cool to do a The Simpsons Tapped Out bracket. Here we are seven years later, and it’s time for our eighth TSTO Addicts Bracket Battle!

How much longer EA can keep Tapped Out going is up for debate. It is equally debatable how long The Simpsons will keep going. But what isn’t debatable is that there have been A LOT of amazing splash screens in Tapped Out. 63 in fact. before this Bracket Battle begins, with the 64th releasing pretty soon. But which of the splash screens has truly been the best? With that in mind, we present to you TSTO Addicts’ The Best Splash Screen Bracket Battle.

August 2022 Event SPOILERS!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Who’s ready for what’s next in our pocket-sized towns?  Well, you’re in luck because we’ve received our info packet from EA and we’re FINALLY allowed to share the details with you!  Curious about what’s included in the next event?  When does it start? How many donuts do you need?  Who should you keep free?  Want some major event spoilers?!  Well look no further…we answer all of that and more here…

Just a reminder for our hearing impaired readers, or those who check the site at work.  You can totally watch this video without sound.  Aside from the subtitles, I have TONS of detailed graphics on this video that will lay out all the event details.

Thoughts? Excitement? Are you ready for it?!  Sound off below, you know we love hearing from you!

New Event Starts Next Week

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

EA has released the next event spoiler packet to us…and then promptly put the splash screen on Facebook.

Saf and I are planning on recording a spoiler video ASAP on this…but obviously, we’ve both been at work all day and haven’t had the chance to do much with the spoilers.  So look for the spoiler video to go up tomorrow (Saturday) for a preview of what’s to come with the next event.

In the meantime, as I’ve mentioned over and over again the last week, be prepared for this new event to start on Wednesday, August 10th. We will not see the typical one week break this time around.  This is EA’s way of catching up in the schedule to be sure the rest of the year’s events launch in a timely fashion.  (expect this event to end on Sept 14th, the next mini-event to start either on the 14th or 21st, and Halloween to start on October 5th.  No, I don’t know that for certain…I’ve just been doing this long enough to have a pretty good guesstimation of when things may start up next)

Anywho…for those that want to know, I’ll post the splash screen below the fold, and remember to look for more details with our spoiler video tomorrow.

Remember, this event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes.  For each of the parts of The Devil and the Deep Blue Slide questline, you’ll have to earn via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part.

It’s now time to take a look at the rest of the prizes, after Swimsuit Homer, on the Splash and Burn prize track and see how you can build your very own pocket-sized waterpark…

Showoff Announcement: Splash and Burn

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time…calling all Addict Designers!  We’re getting ready to do the next Springfield Showoff, and this time around I want to see what you’ve done with the Splash and Burn mini-event stuff! With new and old buildings and decorations arriving with this event, show me how you fit them into your Springfield!   So prep those towns…because we want to see what you’ve done with your Springfield!

As always please remember to limit it to 1-2 of your favorite areas/photos…we can’t show your whole town unless you want to send in your entire town via town portrait.

So use this time to polish up your town and show us how creative you can be!  Send in your Waterpark-inspired designs (by 8 pm ET Tuesday, August 9th) and we’ll be putting up the Showoff post featuring your designs on Wednesday, August 10th.

Remember, your designs can be anything and everything from Splash and Burn, new and old, and how you worked it into your Springfield

So grab some screenshots of your town, or finish up those designs…just make sure to send your submissions in by about 8 pm ET Tuesday, August 9th can’t wait to see what YOU have come up with.

You can send your designs in two ways…either post a link to the image in the comments on this post or you can email them to us at TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com.  We won’t be pulling images from anywhere else, so please if you want to be featured either submit in the comments below or email your images to us.

Note: PLEASE try to limit your submissions to only 1-2 of your favorite screenshots.  We like to try and let everyone showoff their town but it becomes difficult when some of you are sending in 7-10 images.  Pick your favorite areas and send them in (or if you stitch photos together, that works too).  We’ll try our best to get EVERYONE in, but please understand that sometimes we miss a photo or two.  If we miss you one week, we’ll try really hard to make sure we get you in the next week.  You’re always welcome to showoff your town, at any time, on our Flickr page.  We know a lot of you have awesome towns that you want to show off, but please try to stick with this week’s theme.  Remember, this isn’t a contest.  There’s nothing to win.  It’s just a fun way to showoff your town and get some design inspiration from your fellow Addicts.  🙂

Do you want to be featured on the next Springfield Showoff?  Post your images in the comments below or email us your screenshots at TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com. We can’t wait to see YOUR designs! (Need help with images, just ask.)

Splash and Burn Prize Guide: Swimsuit Homer

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It is update time in Springfield my friends!  It’s summertime in our pocket-sized towns, and what better way to beat the heat than a waterpark?!   But will Bart be tall enough to ride Devil’s Deluge?  How will it work out with the waterpark cop?  You’ve got to play the update to find out.

Remember, this event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes.  For each of the parts of The Devil and the Deep Blue Slide questline, you’ll have to earn via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part.

So let’s take a look at the brand costume on this prize track, Swimsuit Homer….

Should You Buy Swimsuit Brockman?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Spending actual cash on donuts for a character (costume) is back in TSTO.  This is something EA’s been rolling out over the last few years, and it’s a new bonus for actually spending cash on donuts. (instead of just farming them)  Where they attach a premium, limited-time, character/costume/building/decoration/combo to one of the donut bundles sometimes in addition to bonus donuts.

And I want to be perfectly clear…you do not need to buy these characters to complete an event.  You can still play this game, and complete all the tasks and prizes, 100% free.  These cash-for-character items are a new type of premium currency…because donuts have been so devalued with donut farming.

This time around we’re being offered Swimsuit Brockman,  a premium costume for Brockman, and The Void (a decoration) for a tray of 132 Donuts ($9.99 in the US).  While it’s hard for me to sit here and tell you if you should or shouldn’t spend actual cash on the game (spoiler, I think you should always spend at least a small amount…even if it’s $.99/year on the game if it brings you joy and you want to see it continue) I thought I’d do a quick breakdown of Swimsuit Brockman, his tasks, questline and other details you may be curious about.

So let’s consider this an abbreviated Should I Buy….
