So…here is your Open Thread. The Simpsons are all new tonight, what will happen in the new episode? The Superhero Event Issue 3 is supposed to hit our devices this week, what do you think will happen during it? Level 50 hit our devices last week….were you excited to see the Lovejoys? And we’re still getting smacked with snow here in the Northeast….but here’s something fun a Father and Son did with snow in Illinois. What do you think? Have you ever created anything fun in the snow?

Who else thinks that ea should give you the option at least once to pick one premium item on Christmas, thanksgiving or Easter for free. Just because of the holidays!?
They usually give away a free item AND free donuts for Holidays. I am happy with that.
I haven’t been playing that long (less than 6 months) but I’ve been given loads of free stuff – can’t complain at all about what they give out!

So sad… Rest in peace, Sam Simon. Co-creator of the Simpsons, passed away this weekend, aged 59. Hopefully, we’ll see some kind of tribute. After all, Homer just lost one of his parents, and I don’t mean Abe!

According to CNN and other sources, Sam Simon, a co-creator of the Simpsons, passed away today (March 9).
I’m loving how easy it is to earn the pie bombs! I’ve been getting the donut bonus once or twice a day for nearly a week thanks to that! Only downside is this morning, I was doing my morning round of tapping and the bonus popped up, and I just tapped on auto pilot so I couldn’t do the trick to get three donuts. Oh well, hopefully I’ll get the bonus again today!
The same thing happened to me this morning; the “trick” didn’t work and I ended up with one donut… So I paid for another go and won two. I know a lot of people think it’s a steep price, but I have no problem spending my game-cash for extra donuts since I’m not really willing to spend real money! Although I am a little low on game-cash now (oops! ;))
I’ve paid a few times, but I need game cash to advance a few plot lines now, so I didn’t this time. I did get a second bonus round this afternoon and got three!

My spring and summer work takes me out of cell reception for long stretches, 5 to 18 days. What’s the best way I can be kind to my neighbors while I’m gone…should I build a massive house farm? And if so, is one color house better than the other?
House farms are good when you’ll be gone for a while. No difference in color for them…your neighbors will get the same payout no matter the house 🙂
You will want a total of (18 * 3 * n) buildings where n is the number of neighbors you have. As Alissa said, it won’t matter to your neighbors, but you will do better with buildings that have a higher payout — blue or white houses perhaps. Personally, I like the blue houses for their more-compact size.
I also suggest spelling out a message in your Springfieldso your neighbors will know what is going on. It doesn’t have to be a complicated message: “Away for 18 days” would be sufficient. I feel that hedges are easiest to read, but any flowers, shrubs, etc. should work fine for the letters.
Quick question for anyone out there, I’m going to be upgrading my Sam S3 to a Sam S5 in the morning. Will TSTO still play on the upgraded o/s that the S5 has and what’s the best way to make sure I don’t lose all my progress?
I’ve lost my whole town once before due to the Samsung S3 screwed up update last year even though I had a origin account, thankfully I hadn’t brought any d’nuts and I wasn’t that high a level.
As long as you have your Origin ID you can switch back and forth between devices, shouldn’t have issues 🙂 (and if for some reason it disappears you can also contact EA, they can roll your town back and restore your original game)
I like to design my town to be as accurate to the depiction in the show as possible. Moe’s Tavern goes on the left of King Toot and so on. I am wondering if anyone ever managed to create a map of springfield according to what has been shown in the episodes, which I can use as a reference.

While some things seem to be consistent (Moe’s and King Toots, or Simpsons and Flanders) there are inconsistencies in the show as well. If you Google “Simpsons Springfield Map Images” you will find a number of maps — some from other games, some from other players’ TSTO games, and some from other sources. Good luck.
Indeed. Moe’s seems to move a lot, as do the school and the nuclear plant. And The Simpsons’ other neighbour and whatever is across the road seems to change almost every episode!
Loving the event, and the donuts I’ve picked up at the end of Issue 2.
Will the felons/handcuffs continue to flow when Issue 3 arrives? I’ve crafted everything except the Times, and won’t have enough handcuffs by the end of Issue 2.
Finally, just randomly… I’d like to see Mr Teeny enhanced to be able to use the Moonbounce! He could really use a task independent of Krusty, and I don’t think its possible to imagine a monkey in a bounce house without smiling.

do any of you listen to music while you tap out? if so, what keeps you tapping to the beat, and/or what do you like in general? i know it may seem blasphemous to some of you addicts out there, not being able to hear the in-game sound effects clearly (or at all, if you listen on a separate device from what you play on, like i do), but when i go into design mode, nothing gets those creative juices flowing more than a bowl and some banging beats. always hated country, but can appreciate most other kinds of music though. been particularly partial to hip-hop, but i’ve admittedly grown soft over the years (and after having kids). currently keeping SOJA’s latest album Amid the Noise and Haste in constant rotation. man, what a thoroughly solid, and dare i say, beautiful piece of work.
I don’t, but then again, I rarely devote much time for careful design. It is difficult to do so on a small screen and I don’t really have the patience to do so. Maybe I will when I cave in and get a tablet.

Hope you are not too chilly with weather at the moment, if it’s opposite to ours (balmy 25 degrees, sunny, mild wind but no chill. Autumn on Victoria is brilliant 🙂 I envy you. As much as Iaappreciate the sunny days, I would rather be traveling the colder climates!
Actually, we finally caught a break this week… After an unusually cold winter (don’t even get me started…errr…restarted on the snow thing), with 15 daytime highs in the single digits (~ -17 to -12 C), hitting the 40s (~ 6 to 9 C) this week, has felt pretty balmy lol!
Generally, I would agree that, if I had to choose between too hot and too cold, I’d choose too cold, since you can always put on more layers but, after a certain point, you can run out of things to take off 😉
But, if I had my way, it would be about 68-72F (20-22C) and sunny every day (and maybe in the 40s at night, for sleeping). The only exception would be if I were somewhere with an outdoor pool or beach, in which case is like it to be in the low 80s (28C) for swimming! 🙂
Melbourne weather truly does give all 4 seasons in one day, wake up, sometimes pouring down, or brilliantly sunny, by lunch it either fines up or gets seriously torrential, 2-3 in the arvo the rain settles and either we get gale winds or sunny, rolling clouds, and then by nightfall randomly frozen or fried. Really keeps you on your toes, I think it might be why Victorians are so edgy and annoyed most of the time 😀
Hey all! The Moonbounce is having a “glitch” just like the writers building did. Instead of waiting those pesky 4 hours for a Springfield kid to bounce- if you go to your Krustyland, OR, visit a neighbor it will automatically speed up the time. Just a quick little payout to earn some extra cash!

TO ALL TSTO ADDICTS – Glitch Report!
I have noticed on forums since the recent update some tappers revisiting your game that you reappear on the same location as previously exited.
It seems once you exit, if your last tap has not been completed (in other words, tapping the building / character / etc AND tapping all the proffered offering) then these will remain until you revisit. This means, for instance, if you tap your felons but don’t collect, they will remain like this until you revisit.
Sorry I still could not understand the method you shared.
I want one of those jetpacks from Sunday’s episode. I don’t mean for the game — I want one in real life! 🙂
Etamni, Jetlev or the Hydropac is the closest we get as “consumers”, I haven’t tried one but as an amateur pilot it has to be the closest / cheapest / safest alternative 😉
I started with zero donuts when event started. This morning I just earned my 102nd donuts and bought the pig!
Thanks to the issues bonuses, XP levelling up, friends visit, and one 5 donuts balloon pop in krustyland.

I spent donuts for the Bad Dream House several events ago because I love the look and design, like so many others. I read that it has great animation but there is no way to activate it, so there it sat forever, and I never saw what it can do. It sits perfectly in the far corner next to my cemetery and spooky corner, but few neighbors travel that far while we rush to visit everyone. But notice how many of us have moved it closer to the tapping zone to finally see it in action, in all it`s glory. How unfortunate to pay for it, but have to wait for an event like this to actually see it. My neighbor tapped on it and I have now moved it back to it`s spooky place in my Springfield, without collecting my neighbors tap. I have no intention of collecting my neighbors tap on that house throughout the rest of this entire event. My Bad Dream House is going to rock it`s trippy disco fever all the way to the end of this event, and I will smile every time I look at it. I paid for it, now I get to enjoy it, and it only cost one neighbors non-tap to enjoy what it does… Cheers gang!
I don’t have the Bad Dream House, but from now I will certainly take note to tap it whenever I see one. None of the animations in my Springfield really catch my attention though. Now and then, when I see a whale on friend visits I will tap on it to see it dive, ditto for any new decorations just to see if there are any animations. On the other hand, I really like Krustyland, partly because all the rides are animated and who wouldn’t like a theme park?
A lot of us addicts have been thrilled to see Sequel Stop up and running again. I wish EA would take this opportunity to create some permanent tasks there for all our new superheroes and villains. I also hope there is a permanent character task for the new Zenith City apts. (My fave of the lot, next to Botanical Gardens) I love the animation and since I’m crafting a beach front complex, I’d hate for that to go away.
Hi, I finished thr breaking bread quest, and was given the squicky voice kid, but it won’t show anywhere, in my storage it shows lard lad, but there’s a lock on the picture…… What do I do?
You don’t get him for free at the end of the questline…there’s a second questline that will start if you have him. ie you still have to spend donuts to get him
You are asking a few different things here, so I am trying to understand just what it is you are looking for. You completed the Level 49 questline? And did you purchase Squeaky Voiced Teen? The game does not give him to you, it tells you that you have to purchase him. He costs donuts or you can try to win him in the Mystery Box.

I’m just wondering if this is a good idea or not. Would anyone be interested in making or joining a fb group of 99 other TSTO addicts that are all your neighbours? I think it would be great to be able to chat & get to know your peeps a lil better. I would gladly clean out my list & refill it if I could have all my neighbours in a fb group or similar, doesn’t have to be fb. There would be some conditions tho-18+ & no trolls of any kind, playing at least 1 year ect. Your thoughts? Anyone interested?

I’m confused about the investorettes quest line I keep reading about. I have Helen, and she has run through her tasks, but nothing else triggered.
If you saw right at the beginning, you only got a glimpse of it. To complete the entire questline, you will need the Cracker Factor w/Luann. There is an entire questline with her.

It’s interesting… This is the first major event, since I’ve been playing, that doesn’t have the option to buy any event currency for money (except indirectly, by “rushing” the buildings). Have they done this before? I think my first event was CoC.
They may drop more options as it goes on. I think it is also a way of feeding those complaints by players that don’t want to have to buy stuff, but earn it.
I think EA has tried to balance regular tapping irrespective of level achieved, and seeing many, many freemium / premium game differences throughout our playersphere, the purchasing option was a minor feature for Freemiums; what seems to be the majority is against purchasing premium content, especially as this feature is essentially a “complete-now”, and from what I can tell most of the completion quantities have been reduced 😉

Alot of people don’t use these third party utilities, I do not due to the security issues. I agree with Sandra, if there was an easy way to post directly to your site I’m sure we’d see so many of our enthusiastic tappers happy snaps 😉
We are trying to find other ways, but we are limited with WordPress. So we try to offer other options. We may start to do a weekly gallery submission. Like you send us your screenshots and we can post them weekly or even biweekly.
Well, that’s annoying! You can’t get a Flickr account without a Yahoo account. You can’t get a Yahoo account without a phone that does text messages. Don’t have one of those, so I’m SOL. (Of course, I didn’t realize this until I had spent a considerable amount of time finding a username and password it would deign to accept.)
I guess my amusing screen captures will have to remain unshared. 🙁

I think many tappers such as Sandra and myself would submit more this way, currently I am submitting to email, but because I do not use the 3rd party apps, I haven’t seen any I’ve uploaded or their comments, only the ones our dedicated and sleepless TSTO link to within the threads.
I know it may mean more tireless work to compile another weekly post of compiled happy snaps, especially as you have multiple sources, but I think it would be as popular as the Weekly Open 😉

Looking into WordPress, it seems image population is possible, depending on your version. Could I ask which version, maybe I or my programming team could assist?
Please understand that there is more to it than just what version of their service we paid for. We have to moderate pics the same way as comments as there is ALWAYS one troll that finds it amusing to ruin it for everyone else. We tried versions of open pics before and it was ruined within hours of going live. Same with NO moderation on comments.
We really are trying to find ways to offer what we can in the best way we possibly can. We don’t want to have to force our readers to become a “member” to have access to our site and features. We like the open door policy we have, sadly… that means open to ALL. So we have to protect our site and readers with all that comes with.
@etamni – I am using Dropbox when I want to show something here, but our wonderful Addict hosts use Flickr for the social sharing of snaps outside of this blog site.
@Bunny – I didn’t need a mobile phone number either when I signed up for a Yahoo account years ago under another identity; I think this is a new requirement. Go ahead and try it – you’ll see what I’m talking about! 🙁
The only thing I haven’t checked out is whether it’s any different if one tries to set up an account while using a non-mobile device…maybe their coding doesn’t recognize the difference between a tablet and a smartphone and that’s why it thinks I must have SMS ability. I will try that experiment later and let you know what I find out!
@Cube & @Bunny – I’d be perfectly willing to post just links here from my DropBox account…I just want a dedicated thread to do it in here, rather than using the Weekly thread, since sometimes those pix appear in-line and make it harder to read other comments and take up a lot of room, etc. So, better in a dedicated thread…
@Bunny Just checked (using my laptop)…yes, having a mobile number (that’s SMS-capable) is now a requirement for setting up a new Yahoo account – it even says so in their help files. So, I guess getting a Flickr account is not possible for me. 🙁
That seems odd. Wonder if you can bypass it as people can state it is a breech of privacy.
Nope – no bypass…I even emailed their customer service.
I’m looking into whether there are any free one-time-use online SMS services. So far, a couple of popular ones seem to already be blocked for use by Yahoo for that purpose. I’ll keep on investigating this (although maybe not until next weekend), but a thread here that I could post to using my DropBox links, would be ideal! 🙂
Bunny, completely agree and appreciate that the fine line of moderation of “trolls” (still appalls me this site would even attract them,, every one I’ve met so far has been so friendly;) and genuine content/comments from those as Sandra trying to be helpful is hard. If time permits, I do advocate a pic page, I’m sure there are so many great designs and detailed Springfields up for show!
It is due to we strive to keep a positive environment here. Because of that, we are intentionally targeted by those that spew nothing but hate and negativity. Really sad that humans are like that, but we prefer to not let our site be over run by that kind of poor human behaviour.
We already kind of have galleries of designs with our Showoff posts. All reader submitted images. It is always a working progress of what we CAN offer to our readers to keep our Site Guidelines and not cost us a fortune or more time to manage.

Hey everyone. I was looking around for a calendar for the zenith city buildings and I could not find one. I wasn’t exactly sure how to do this but I think I figured it out. Using bunnys pie bomb calendar, march 3 or 4 as the day to begin collecting and march 24 as the last day, that’s 21 days. The math I used, was 1 times building and 2 each apartments, lofts and store fronts. I didn’t include phone booths. To craft those 7 buildings you need 230 lock picks, 55 capes, 55 handcuffs and 70 phones. I divided those numbers by 21 days and came up with, 11 lock picks, 2.7 capes, 2.7 handcuffs and 3.5 phones everyday. The hardest one of these is the 2.7 handcuffs because the most you can get is 3 felons a day. I’m a pretty hardcore player so all the rest are easy but I might only be able to get one storefront building. Does this math make sense? Did anyone else try to figure it out? Thanx and have fun.
If I were to nuke my krustyland it shouldn’t reset my Springfield. Is that correct? I would hate to have both reset.

Same here, although I doubt EA will release a Wiggum skin just for the jetpack, but it does look out of place as a decoration.
They could make it a task — when assigned, the jetpack would just appear (the same as Father Sean’s motorcycle or Reverend LoveJoy’s scale model train).
Good evening everyone, this is the first time I’ve posted and I am just looking for an answer to a question.
I play this excellent, amazing and highly addictive game on an android device and have always been a freenium player but I have got an itunes gift voucher which is on my account and wondered if I could use this to buy some of those round pink yummy chunks of dough. I’m not sure as ones an apple thing and I’m playing on android.

We have little freedom left, we subscribe to our individual governments and try to accept the world as it is, but living in a society / country that has no protection of freedom of speech I envy you.
Matt – Australia has no free-speech protection?!?
Definitely not. Even some Australians think we do, but we have a very different constitution compared with America or the UK.
And we are losing more and more freedom in other ways. Victoria (where I am from) by some is viewed, and I say this extremely carefully, an assertively authoritive state.
As an example, some of the current topics in our media is regarding meta data retention, journalists being legislated to disclose sources and nationwide monitoring of online content, with filtering.
Wow – I had no idea! When was the constitution written? Was it after GB stopped using it as a penal colony? (Please pardon my great ignorance here…)
1868 was the last penal delivery, 20 years later constitutional discussions commence with 1900 being the year of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia. All good, alot of people really don’t reslise how new at nation we are 😉
@Sophia — if you can beg or borrow someone’s IOS device (someone who doesn’t play this game) and then connect to your game, you can buy those donuts for your game. Once they are in your game, sign out and sign back in again on your Android device. Double check that they are still showing.
It does mean a massive download if your mate hasn’t it installed already, make sure they have enough data before trying this (in a country where excessive data is massively expensive 😉

Really glad I had a peek here tonight … I was under the misapprehension that we had to craft all the building before the start of Issue 3. With this in mind I crafted the Zenith Times, Zenith City Apartments and the Zenith City Lofts. This left me with the Zenith City Sore Front left but only have 1/10 handcuffs but 20/20 phones and a 45 dohnut buy now price … Was going to SLE d some sprinkles buying it within the next 24Hrs but now knowing if we have until March 24th to get then I’m a happy bunny !
I’ve been playing for 3 years now and DEFINATELY AN ADDICT ! Hourly player when an event is on, 100 friends who all seem as hardcore as myself and reciprocate my daily taps accordingly. Not much of an addict with just those facts I agree but then add this into the mix … My two eldest children were always on Tapped Out and begged me to get an account so I did, got more addicted than them, got the Mrsa. Account and we all tapped one another and started to add friends. Two years down the line they all started to get tapping exhaustion … You guessed it …
I now manage all 4 accounts and even tap all their friends daily too … All on level 50 but I only ever buy dohnuts for my account as buying for all would mean TOO much £££’s …
I’m pretty sure that makes me an addict ???
Love this site and the wonderful hosts who give a service to us all that is second to none … Without Wookie, Bunny & Allisa I’d be sat scratching my head on what to do next half of the time 🙂
