Well after a few hour absence, Gil is back in Springfield! Why? Because he’s feeling lucky and wants to sell you stuff you didn’t think you needed until Gil said you did! (afte rall it worked on Moe & Homer)
So what’s he offering this time? Well…for a limited-time (ie until, Monday 3/23) you can purchase the Blarney Castle! Blarney Castle is a premium building for your Springfield.
Now I’m sure you’re wondering…”is this something I should take Gil up on? Or am I better off saving my donuts for something better?” Well…before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this good luck castle to YOUR Springfield!

Pros
-Animated when in use, a bird flies around and lands on various parts of the castle.
-Offers a decent payout
-Comes with a a short questline for Homer and Flanders & one for Moe. (1 task each)
-Looks cool and one of the new new St. Patrick’s Day items for 2015
Cons
-Once the short questline with Moe is complete (his quest uses the castle, Homer & Ned have outdoor quests) no one will use the castle.
-A bit overpriced for what it is/what it does
-Not from Springfield. (still from the show, just not from Springfield)

I’m still on the fence with this one. I like the look, but I’m starting to feel like I have enough castles in Springfield. Plus this one doesn’t have any tasks associated with it after the initial questline. So while it looks cool and earns at a decent rate, I still may be passing on it. Right now I’m at a 70-30 split (with 70 against and 30 for) and I’ll make up my mind before the weekend is over. Honestly, the only reason I’d see to purchasing this (even if you’re a freemium player) is if you have a ton of donuts saved up, you really love the look of it and maybe you don’t have a ton of other castles in your town (I’ve got 3 from Clash of Clones plus Queen Helvetica’s castle as well). Otherwise, you might be better off saving your donuts for something better down the line…

Honestly freemium players…pass on this one. For what it is/what you get your donuts will be better spent on something else. So save your donuts and skip the Blarney Castle…no matter how hard Gil tries to sell you on it.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you this is one I’m leaning against. Just remember…whatever you decide this IS Limited-Time so be sure to make your decision before Gil leaves Springfield on at Monday 3/23!

it’s cool that it’s a real tourist destination, but as such, it should boost consumerism instead of vanity. anyway, i still think the best castle is the compound structure i made with the three we got free during the clash of clones event.
definatly would buy the castle if I knew for sure what episode 4 of superhero is going to bring donut wise, EA would of been smart letting the castle exist 1 day longer so it was around after episode 4 hit
I’m a bit late on this post, since the castle is gone now, but thought I’d share anyway (I want to share a screenshot, but can’t quite figure out how to make that work 😞)… The minute I saw this castle I knew I would have to have it. Actually bought before this ‘to buy or not’ post went up (rare for me!). It is proportionally too small, and it doesn’t really fit with Springfield, and it’s pricy, but it’s just so cute, realistic looking, and perfect for this holiday that I love… I love it! I have it In its own little area surrounded by a mote – now if we could just keep the river green, Ha!! 😃

It genuinely would be awesome if EA was to allow some more things in KL aka Equalia or the CoC stuff, then honestly, they would not have to worry about adding “new” stuff to KL just yet! imo!

I’m a freemium player but had enough donuts for this and since I’ll be visiting Blarney Castle and Ireland in two weeks so I got it. I love it, I couldn’t decide what else to save up for as nothing took my fancy as much as this did.

That all depends on when EA kills the questline. It could be with the event. It could be later.
I’m on the fence. I like the idea of Blarney Castle, but it looks more like ruins. A few days left to decide, I guess…
Even with 3 days to go, ive got the feeling i will be getting this! May be small and expensive but would make a great addition to my Irish part of town!

I love this castle. It feels much less fantasy than the others, sits nicely in a tree shaded area and paired with the Beer fountain, statues and clover trees, comes alive as an Irish themed park.
I missed out on Lisa’s castle due to lack of Donuts, so I got this one straight away. I think it looks more realistic too 😉

I visited Blarney last year and loved it, it’s a great place to visit if you get the chance! This is overpriced but I’ll buy it as I like the idea of having somewhere I’ve been in rl in my Springfield
Ea has a thing for castles!!! Sheesh. I bought it (I’m a sucker for limited time unique items) and like the look. God, I’m praying for a quiet issue 4. This has been a pretty costly event thus far. But, love seeing tapped out in the top10 grossing games on the android.
I was all set to get this until I clicked on it & saw how small it is! So, I hit ‘cancel’. Sometimes the scale of things in this game bugs me a lot – like why is that brown suv auto so darn big? I hate it. I need to check to see if it has a percentage; if not I’ll be storing that one. I like the look of the castle, but doubt if I’ll get it at this size.
I thought the same when I saw how tiny the Zenith City Times building was. I expected it to be at least as big as the Headquarter, but “What is this? A center for ants?!” (Zoolander)
I agree the canyonero is a little too big and zenith city times is a little too small. The lofts looked just a bit too small at first but I found the perfect place for them so it’s all good. The heater shelter still looks ridiculous compared to its original size though :/
But isn’t the idea (from the episode) that the canyonero is obnoxiously big anyways?
I agree with the problems on scale, I might have gone for the Tar Pits if the bldg.weren’t so small, I’ve held off on crafting ‘The Times’ until the end because it doesn’t fit and will probably end up in inventory anyway. But Steve is correct, I was ecstatic to see the Canyonero as a friendship prize. I think it totally makes fun of the Hummer as well as other over-sized, Machismo, gas-guzzling vehicles. It’s supposed to be that way. I love the juxtaposition of the Canyonero next to the Quimbe convertible in front of their compound in my Springfield.
i agree with you on this “scale” issue!! It would be nice to keep the size of buildings, cars and characters uniformed, but hey, irs just a game!! With any game, there are flaws! Kinda funny having a “T- Rex” Canyonero on the terrain! LOL Come to think of it, thats a good name for mine! Just gave myself an idea for placement!
just saw that show last nite! I would love it if they gave Bart that same task as in the show then send Characters to kiss the “stone” lmao! Still on fence tho but there is time to think about it! All these different end dates kinda bums me out with the unknown still going on! Would hate to buy now then have something better show up the day after it is pulled!
I took Gill up on his offer. I buy most items and thought this looked pretty cool. Now that I have it, I believe it is my favorite castle in Springfield. I find it fits in better then Lisa’s castle. In my opinion, it is also significantly better then the clash of clones castles – which I currently have sitting in storage.

While trying to decide about buying the castle, I had a semi-related question. Has anything like the Gil – Black Friday deal happened before? Is it something I should expect again?
I recently bought doughnuts to use on Otto and Frink, but I’m curious if I should hold off and maybe get them discounted some time in the future. With all of the events and the ~5 levels I have left I’ll have things going on in my Springfield for a while even if I don’t buy them.
Every so often they run those random Gil deals. Honestly your best bet before buying anything that’s a regular premium item is to hold out and see what deals Gil may bring, especially around the holidays. (unless of course you want them now)
Yeah, except Easter I assume St. Patrick’s Day is the last holiday event for a while. I’ll probably hold out and see if Gil pops back up after Easter and pull the trigger on Otto/Frink if not.

I’d be hard pressed to think of any Gil deals that will be as awesome as Frink 😃 Or Hank Scorpio, random as the Lair is hanging out in Springfield. Lately they’ve all been silly fluff without much story behind it. Makes me nuts. I buy them anyway, but still.
I won Frink spending 15 doughnuts on Homer Buddha 😉 try your luck, ill say spend 30 doughnuts and see if you get Frink…after that hold off 😁
While the Irish in me is tempted on the Leprechaun and Blarney castle, I think I’m hanging on to my donuts to see what Episode 4 and what EA Easter has to offer. Already splurged intensely recently…
I think the whole bird animation thing is kinda played out….seems like they use a variation of that for any non-commercial building they don’t feel like coming up with anything else for.
I passed on it. I have enough castles and for me, being what it is, it’s too small! If it was bigger, like the ice palace or even more the size of FoC I’d consider it. I have the donuts but it doesn’t appeal to me at all.
I’m a proud Irish-American and i was excited to see this in the game, but I promised myself that I would wait until this post to decide. If it doesn’t get used beyond this than its probably not worth it. I may miss it initially but i do prefer to keep my donuts for characters
they should allow us to put the clash of clones castles into KL!’

Or the Queen Equalia Castle, it would be nice to put it like the Cinderella/Sleeping Beauty castles in Disneyworld/Disneyland.

I bought it right away coz it fitted in with the design I was creating with the Irish theme… I already have the other items ( the wishing well and so on) from previous updates so it was a no brainer… yeah I agree it was a bit expensive and there is no character association with it but I use the castle in my Springfield as a tourist attraction / hotel / motel…
on a side note I do wish EA would bring Shauna back….
My ancestors came from a town called Castlecove, so it was a buy for me. I love the Castle Street in my Springfield! 🙂
Disappointed that we didn’t give have a character (premium or not) available for this St. Paddy’s day update, like we have for the last two. Even a skin would have been nice.
But, to be fair, for the life of me, I can’t think of anything appropriate that hasn’t already been done.
We’ll, for those of us who weren’t playing the game last year, we did get a character (Tom), but I can see how this didn’t really do anything for longer-time players. I’m not sure what they’d do for a new character, but I suppose they could’ve done a St. Patrick’s Day skin for someone….Moe, maybe?
I liked the new quest line, it’s nice to have a building used by so many people even if it is just once a year, and I’m glad they wrote a new quest line instead of just using the original one again like they did last year. I like the new fountain too (so glad I didnt spend 10 donuts on the Krudtyland one cause now I have a cooler version for free) but a new character is always appreciated.

I’m not really feeling any of the St. Patrick’s Day items, so even as a player who’s spent a good deal on donuts over the past year-plus, I’m not getting this. I’m also annoyed with the whole Brandine situation right now.
And yet, I may end up buying a few more donuts depending on what else comes from the Superhero event. So, yeah.
