Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s Harvest time in Springfield! And nothing says you’re a successful farmer than a farming license, right? Now I know many of you are trying to decide if this license is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to help you decide what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if the Monsarno Farming License is right for you? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of becoming a card carrying member of the Monsarno Farmers club in YOUR Springfield!
Item: Farming License
Donut Price: 90 Donuts
What Does it Do?: So, basically this license that helps you earn MORE game currency when tapping Mutant Vegetables in your neighbors towns. With out the license you’ll earn 1 Shovel (Even though Bunny keeps reminding me they’re Spades, I like using the term Shovel…so I’m sticking with it. To me a spade is a suit in a deck of cards and I’m not a card carrying member of the FFA, so I think I’ll be forgiven 😉 Update: After some debate by you guys…it’s now going to be called a trowel…going forward. Why? Because it’s more fun to say than a shovel! (that and that’s actually what it is…) per Mutant Vegetable tapped, or 3 per town . With the license you’ll earn 2 Shovels per Mutant Vegetable tapped, or 6 per town.
So basically this will double the amount of game currency you get from visiting friends. Currently it caps at 90 actions, so with out the License that’s 90 Shovels (or the other currencies if/when they hit). But WITH the license it’s 180 Shovels (or the other currencies…). Remember this is ONLY with Mutant Vegetable Tapes in neighbors towns. You’ll still only be able to leave 10 Seedlings in each Neighbors town. (5 in other Springfield)
This does NOT impact the amount you earn when tapping in your own town.
Pro
-Earns double game currency when tapping Mutant Vegetables in your neighbors towns.
Cons
-EXPENSIVE…
-Not an actual item so once the event is over, it’s gone.
Final Thought:
Premium
For this event, I’m passing on the license. Since it only doubles from 1 to 2, I just don’t think it’s worth it. In past events I’ve picked it up because I can’t always tap as often as I’d like to and it’s benefited me. (Superheros was one of those events) But because this only takes it from 1 to 2, I just don’t see enough of a jump for it to me worth my donuts.
Before you purchase/don’t purchase it I would say take a look at how often you can get into TSTO to tap during this event. If you’re a diligent tapper this is something that really isn’t necessary since it’s pretty easy to earn currency throughout the event. However, if you’re someone who won’t be able to get into your town frequently during the event this might be something you want to consider getting. It may only be a little boost, but it can still give you a boost.
Of course, don’t buy it if neighbor visits are difficult for you to make on a daily basis, since that’s the only place it will help you.
Freemium
Honestly, this is one you may want to pass on. 90 d0nuts is pricey for something that won’t be tangible in your Springfield once the event ends. Plus you can earn currency fairly quickly if you tap frequently. So if you’re a diligent tapper, save your donuts and pass on this one.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do, and this is something I plan on taking a pass on. Whatever you decide, just remember this is one item for the event that’s better the earlier you purchase it. So if you’re on the fence, I’d say try to make your final decision by this weekend…this way you can get the most benefit over the rest of the event!
And that’s it my friends…the full rundown and pros and cons of the Monsaro Farming License.
What do YOU think of the Farming License? Are you still thinking about purchasing it or wanting to see how the event pans out the next couple of days before you make a decision? Thoughts on tapping Mutant Vegetables? How’s your Shovel count doing? Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

Gravedigger Billy
For the Superhero event I bought the license for only one of my towns and I did not see any difference from the ones that did not have the license. Passing this time. Was cracking up about the spade, trowel or shovel. U guys r a riot. I think a hand held tool is a good name for the thingabob. Mary Jo
Is it just me or are the prices way too expensive? Only the market is more than 15.000 fertilizers, not to mention the other two prices. Only eleven days left for the first act and I’m desperate to find out how to get 28.000 fertilizers for all act 1 prices. Please help me! Do I get something wrong?
It is only day two. Remember… things progress. Look at the Math post. LOTS of options to earn keep on coming as it progresses.
Still obtaining 30.000 fertilizers seems unachievable to me within eleven days. Or will the act 1 prices stay and only new ones be added? Thanks for this blog by the way. I really enjoy it.
It seems to look like everything will stay for Act 1 so you’ll have time to catch up. It’s meant to be a long term goal, not something to accomplish overnight 🙂
For every event that offered
a license I bought one, this time I’m passing to see how I do. Part of my reasoning is due to being out of land and so I’m going with “I get what I get”. I’m not a collector but a designer and have been playing for over 3 years (scary) so know there is plenty more to come (if I’m not burnt out now, well I may never be 🙂 ). Regarding spade vs shovel, I’m with Alissa. Everytime I play one of those “find the items” games, and I’m tasked to look for a spade, I miss it because I’m looking for a shovel looking thing, and not a suit from a card deck!
I’ve been playing forever too! I started around August 2012. I never buy the licenses but I’m always tempted when I first start an event since I don’t know how long it will take to gather things. Happy Harvesting!
clearly you guys never had to put in work cleaning up after your pet. these are pooper scoopers, before pooper scoopers became all fancy and unifunctional! 😉
I’ve never bought any of the event licenses for two reasons:
1. My town is strictly freemium (and a stingy freemium at that!)
2. There is no permanent item signifying that you have bought any of them. If we were given a simple 1×1 “badge” or even 2×2 sculpture/card, representing the license, that could be placed in your Springfield, then it could appeal to item collectors.
when does the neighbor segment start? still just getting money and xp when I tap
When your Monsarno Upgrades to Level 3

Hi, I’m level 4 on Monsarno upgrade but I’m still not able to participate in the neighbor segment. Am I missing something else? Thanks!
You unlock neighbor actions via the questline. Follow along with the questline to see what tasks you’ll still need to complete

Part-time preemium/freemium player and I gotta say that these license items are not really worth the sprinkles. Having played through Halloween and Christmas 2014, and just recently Superheroes last event, it’s quite clear that EA did a lot of planning and preparation in the earning of event currencies that even slow, infrequent players have a good chance of collecting most prizes. And with more chances to earn as you upgrade Monsarno, there’s no sense in purchasing a license to farm in other Springfields. Like always, the choice is up to YOU. (Couldn’t resist, Bunny lol)
Having said all that, I do like this item because it taught me Cletus has elegant cursive. XD
Lol. Nothing to be sorry about. It is very true. 😉
Wish they’d go back to giving us a decoration that generated extra event currency rather than these licenses, at least then you got something that generated in-game cash after the event was over.
Even during Halloween the stargate gave us aliens we could squish that then gave us currency so something like that would seem more useful.
Enough dirty talk : D
I’m having issues with this event. Nothing to tap yet. I am confused about act one and part one, what’s the difference? Lisa isn’t doing anything. Am I missing something ?
Act one is this phase we’re in. Part 1 is the questlines. Follow the questline, listed here:
http://tstoaddicts.com/2015/04/14/turbo-tappin-terwilligers-act-one/
It’ll guide you through who starts what, and what unlocks when.
While there are those that might debate over the trowel, shovel, or spade-iness of the objects in question, I prefer to think of them as more “Hand-assisted Soil Volume Transference Devices.”
Er… moyven…
😀
bwahahahaha
Something you use to get the dirt away so you can put something in said dirt.
“HaSVTD”….
Hmmm…
Kinda sounds like an “intimate medical condition” than a small gardening tool. Just sayin’.
Lucille, God gave me a gift. I shovel well. I shovel very well.
…taken it too far again sorry : D
*bring on the rakes*
lol…I told Bunny I’m just gonna start calling them Spatrowvels. You know, that thing we’re supposed to collect. 😉
Yep! Great name for them …hard to pronounce without spitting though LOL : D
Sounds like a resort somewhere..
Spatrowvel
Is the name of that particular event currency even named in the game?
I suddenly don’t recall Cecil, or anyone else, directly referring to the {shovel/spade/trowel/spatrowvel] item.
LOL!
Only in coding. 😉
Thanks for the laughs all!
Hi hoe, hi hoe…it’s off to trowel I go…
…perhaps we should now call it troweling instead of trolling…
(sorry couldn’t resist it)
a troweling we will go, a troweling we will go…
This Spatrowvel resort…… is it in the Czech republic?
hahahahahahahaha perhaps…
Does it make sense to keep upgrading the main building? I know it unlocks different tasks for more people but we also need to save up for the farmers market, corn, etc. Is there a point when upgrading has unlocked all the playable characters and still be able to save up for those particular prizes?
Here’s the whole post about upgrading…
http://tstoaddicts.com/2015/04/15/terwilligers-guide-to-leveling-up-monsarno-research-act-one/
My take on continuing to upgrade is listed on that post…
Hi does anyone know if squishing mutant seeds dropped from neighbors right away makes any difference in the amount they pay out? I’m wondering if this is like past events where the time that passes benefits either the sender or the receiver.
Nope. You have 4hrs to squish them, payouts the same no matter when you get them. But if you miss them you’ll get nothing.
So if a spade is a spade and not a shovel or a trowel …what on earth is a hoe?! : D
That’s on a whole different website 😉
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
: O
*giggles* after initial shock…
I dont even see this in my store, where do I find it?
Also I have noticed that my little knife statute does a little hop every now and then and I am just wondering if that is something it does just randomly or if there is something I need to do or check on that I am missing?
The hop means you have new items.
The license will appear once you unlock neighbor actions.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but new items where? I’ve gone through every tab under the trophy menu and nothing seems different.
Should be under the event tab (not trophy menu, store).
Sorry I just realized what it was you were talking about. The store icon also jumps so I assumed it was that one you were talking about. When the Trophy jumps it means you’ve added new materials to your crafting ability (ie fertilizer and corn)
What we are collecting are neither shovels nor spades. They are obviously trowels. (I know American is not always the same as English so I checked in Webster to be sure). Apart from that, thanks for all the help. I started out v confused by this event.
lol yes…they are trowels 😉
Yes you are right they are trowels:
trow·el
ˈtrou(ə)l/
noun
1.
a small handheld tool with a flat, pointed blade, used to apply and spread mortar or plaster.
but the one in the picture doesn’t have a flat blade like a builder’s trowel ♠
When will you be doing Should I spend donuts on new premium stuff? I have some donuts collected and I’m debating about few premium buildings so that post will make it a lot easier for me. I won’t be buying license, I always manage to collect stuff I want without it. It will be hard this time for the first act, yes, I think I won’t be able to collect last prize before new stuff is released but I just want Simpsons farm, such a lovely looking building 🙂
Yup more are coming. This one is just one that if you’re going to get you need to get it during the first few days for it to be the most beneficial. Still have to evaluate the others. Both those posts are coming 🙂
I’m will be on vacation during this event – so I won’t get to tap as much as I usually do, do you think the Farming license is valuable in this case to help me keep up?
It’s honestly hard to say. It only adds one more per action (basically only another 90/day). How long will you be away and how often do you think youll get into tap?
Hi Alissa – well my friend may log onto my game to help me while I’m off, especially the DT’s (Daily Tasks). I’m off a couple weeks, but I personally won’t be able to get on much more than once a day.
Honestly, I’d save my donuts. You’ll get loads from clearing your town and mutant blobs. That those 90 extras you’ll get/day for spending 90 donuts just doesn’t feel worth it to me.
As a garden geek I have to comment: Both shovels (pointed end) and spades ( square end ) have long handles.
Trowels are hand tools and have short handles.
lol i’m enjoying that this debate is going on…
I too agree. My dad was a gardener and i helped shovel a lot manure. Used spades too, and ive seen trowels used to mix cement when building houses.. 😇
That’s what my momma the gardener taught me as well! 🙂
To call a spade a spade…
In essence to speak frankly and bluntly, be explicit, as in ‘You can always trust Bunny to call a spade a spade’. To tell it how it is : )
Apparently this term comes from a Greek saying, call a bowl a bowl, that was mistranslated into Latin by Erasmus and came into English in the 1500s. Also see tell it like it is.
Um, I can’t resist mentioning that the game currency actually seems to be a trowel – not a spade OR a shovel! 😉😄 😇
lol game files call it a spade. Personally I don’t care what you call it…just needs to be gathered 😉
Can’t we all just agree on one thing to call it? I sugesst we just simpley call it a “Tool” (there is no debate about that, right?)
I am sticking with the coding name. Spades 😉
…I am on the trowel team LOL : D
Can’t tell whether it’s a trowel without seeing the length of the handle…a trowel is a hand tool.
Does anyone else keep tapping lamposts?! Lol those weeds are hard to see…and everytime a blob is in my town I get a fright followed by a giggle as they are SO fast!!! Thanks neighbours for dropping your blobs on me : D Great fun.
The graphics also remind me of Plants vs Zombies…
Good morning Alissa, Bunny & Wookiee
A little frustrated 😕 I don’t know how but about 50% of my neighbors have not updated yet. Kind of hard to do this event if they are not updated. When will EA force the update?
Thanks for all of your event coverage! You guys rock as usual!
I believe they already did. But I know some people didn’t see it until yesterday so give it a couple more days and see when the last time they played was, then think about purging some neighbors.
Already having buyers remorse on this purchase.
As a freemium player I’ve never bought any of the licenses that come up during events and I’ve always been able to complete them and get all the prizes.
I don’t think I tap particularly often, I have a full time job and only access the game first thing in the morning and after work, sometimes at lunch time I can do a quick ‘tap and dash’ but not always.
I’m liking the look of this event though – I really wasn’t expecting something this involved so soon after Superheroes. I haven’t quite got my SF organised and planned properly after that and now I’ve got lots more stuff to fit in! I’m not complaining though, EA is really spoiling us.
I was wondering if someone else was feeling the same way! I’m not as good with design as I ‘d like to be and it takes me a while to decide where I want to put something. I guess I’ll just keep cramming things on the edge of town for now.
Just like you, I’m not complaining; I’m loving these events and think EA is knocking them out of the park!
I think I’ll pass on the license. May go for Republican HQ instead. Is it worth buying?
Post coming, haven’t evaluated it just yet so I don’t know. Post will be up soon 🙂
Thanks, Alissa. Look forward to hearing your expert opinion.
