Where Did THAT Come From: Monsarno Research Campus & Statue

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

This post I will be going over the Origin of Monsarno Research Campus and the items there. Introduced into our games with the Terwilliger Event, you know they gotta be involved somehow. But just how? How did all these items come into play? What do they have to do with the Terwilliger Family? And what on earth is up with that Statue? Let’s take a look at the TV Series to find out.

Season 25, Episode 13: The Man Who Grew Too Much
I did a recap on this Episode just after it went live, feel free to see more about it in it’s entirety HERE.

After an endless supplies of fresh veggies at the School, Lisa decided to investigate just where on earth they are coming from. (Hey… I thought that’s what I am doing). She learns they are GMO Veggies. She addresses the PTA of her concerns in a meeting. Lisa realizes… to her shock… they are actually GOOD for you. So she sets up a Buffet at the Simpsons so she can share them with everyone, courtesy of the Monsarno Corporation. Monsarno Food

Monsarno is so impressed, the family gets a trip to the Monsarno Research Campus to check out just how they are made. Homer seems impressed and asks if they have a Statue of the Founder he can stick a funny hat on…

…Outside of the Campus, Homer indeed finds a Statue and decides to add a lil something extra to the Joseph Monsarno Statue. A funny Striped Green Hat. He quickly jumps back in the Golf Cart and yells, “GO! GO! GO!” after placing it in the Statues head. In the background, you start to catch a glimpse of all those red brick, lots of windows Buildings. Joseph Monsarno Statue

As they go a lil futher on, it pans out to the FULL SCALE of the Campus. You can see very easily the locations in our game now. Monsarno Research, Monsarno Library, and Monsarno Chimp Resources… and possibly… more to come? Monsarno Campus

While they are there, their hostess wants them to see that they are NOT an evil Company. She then introduces them to the Chief Scientist… SIDESHOW BOB!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

He is still a Prisoner, just there as a volunteer for experiments. Monsarno liked his write ups on his tests so much, they made him a Scientist.

There you have it. Some items that appeared in a very recent Episode of the Simpsons, complete with Sideshow Bob, have now made it into our silly lil game. What do YOU think of the Building? What about the Statue? Does the hat on it now make sense? Let us know below.

  1. I believe that there is more to the funny hat, I live in the Springfield MA area and I have stated before that Monsanto had their headquarters here for a long time and our mayor for the last decade or so has been Domeneck Sarno thus “Mon-Sarno”. So now for the hat, Springfield, MA is proud to be the home of Theodor Seuss Geisel aka Dr Suess (I drive by the real Mulberry Street ona regular basis). The hat looks alot like a green version of the Cat in the Hat’s hat. Again, this proves to me the connection between Sringfield, MA and the Simpsons Springfield.

Monsanto was never HD in Springfield, ma and has always been out of St. Louis, MO. There have been offices and plants in the area but never a HQ.

  3. How bizarre… without even realising it, I’ve already placed the Monsarno buildings in the same layout as they are in the show. And it is possible to put cement under the buildings – place a block next to where you want it under the buildings, then even though there’s no arrow, you can drag it for one block only into that space under the building… then delete the block you don’t want.

  4. I had to rewatch this episode of The Simpsons in order to capture all of the humor regarding GMOs courtesy of Monsanto (oops I mean Monsarno (lol) … all that was missing were references to Monsanto at Disneyland (House of the Future, Adventures Thru Inner Space) and a song on par with “miracles for molecules” 🙂

  5. Hey everyone,
For those of you who like to keep things as they are on the show, it looks like a beach volleyball court in the front of the campus. It’s just like the one in our games. Thanx and have fun.

  6. Am watching the episode right now… NOW I understand why the statue has a funny hat! And, for those who have been complaining about the cement issue, the Monsarno campus buildings are all on grass, so maybe that’s why EA set them up to go on grass? (Just wish that we could build curved roads to match the ones in the show…)

This game has turned watching an episode of The Simpsons into a research project lol! 😉

  12. Definitely an episode I need to see!

BTW, an update just hit with dialogue between Bart and Homer. I have to wait to start the quest because Bart’s on task. But Mr. Teeny is playable again with three tasks, only one isn’t available until Act Two. 🙂
