Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
In honor of our 2 year blogiversary we asked you guys to tell us a little more about yourselves. We wanted to learn more about who you guys are & what your tapping habits are & we wanted you guys to learn more about each other! (we’ve done this a couple times in the past as well) And, as always, you guys came through and we learned some interesting facts about you!
We were completely blown away by the number of responses we received to the poll & even more blown away by the stats! So I’ve been tinkering away t compiling all of the data and putting it all into fun graphics and charts & now the time has come to share those results with you! So let’s break it all down shall we?
First let’s take a look at the age breakdown:
Similar to last year it looks like most of you are in your 20s and 30s (just like Bunny, Wookiee and I)
You Use the:
Looks like there are still more Boy Addicts around here than Girls…
You Go To….
Another breakdown identical to last year! Gotta love those 66% of you tapping, reading and working…because I’m one of you! 😉
You’ve Been Playing TSTO For..

Looks like most of you have been playing TSTO for over a year (for Forever!)…love love those long time tappers, just like us!
You Tap On…
And of course….
You Said You Are…
From that…
Oh and…
More About You…
And…
You Live…
Oh And….
Your Best and Worst
Once again Duffman is your favorite and Chester is your least favorite (and it’s not even close with Chester. He’s overwhelmingly your least favorite premium combo)
Yet again you guys chose Dr. Nick as your favorite and the Funzos as your least favorite. (seems you hate those Funzos more than Chester!)
And again…your Favorite is Duff Stadium (mine too!) and least favorite is Try-N-Save…
Knocking Stonecutters off of the top perch. Stonecuters did come in second though…but it wasn’t even close, 29% to 15%.
Looks like you guys are still hating on that Easter Box with the infamous Mystery Boxes…
You’ve been reading Addicts for..

I love that most of you have been with us from the start, or close to it! It means a lot to us that so many of you have stuck around for the last 2 years!
And Finally….
Bottom line of all of this? You guys are awesome and we loved getting to know more about you!!! Hope you enjoyed getting to know more about each other too!
Special thank you to everyone who took the time to do the poll!
What do you think of the results? Are you surprised by any of the numbers? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!!

52 and playing since TSTO came to IOS!! Started Freemium and now Premium /Completionist!
Been on this Blog since about a month after The Crew started it!
Try and Save is ok
Chester is the Doc’s nephew, i think!
Happy Happy Anniversary! Got to remember to watch those first to vid blogs!! Always a smile watching you three lol! EVERYTHING IS AWESOME! THANKS FOR THE MONORAIL EA!!!
Wow only 7% kindle users? That makes me feel out-of-date.
Also only 17% people in their 40s? I thought that since we started the video game age it would be higher than that.
Wow I didn’t realise how few people are from my time zone (Asia/Australia/New Zealand). I’m sorry for complaining about it and I will try to follow the western hemisphere clock!^^
I’ll be 30 at the end of the month. I’m a gal, have a child and am pregnant right now. I voted for almost all of the faves and least faves!
It’s awesome to see how diverse people are.
Less than 1% from south America?
Im from Brazil and im felling very alone now
You’re never alone, there’s thousands of people here wondering how to play this game, 🙂
You’re not alone… I’m Brazilian too. 🙂
Olá ! 🙂
Oi! Acho que não devem ter muitos brasileiros mesmo né haha
Fun poll…..I’m a 30+ female who works full time in the states. Been playing TSTO since May 2013 on Android, BEFORE user names were used and then had to start all over when Origin arrived on Android. LoL. Found this blog several months later after another site ended and have loved it ever since. The comments from the awesome readers are funny but can but such a help too.
My favs are/were Bumblebee man and Superhero/Tap Ball Events. Was really disappointed with the Xmas 2013 when they had that stupid wheel and didn’t get the Snow Monster.
Keep up with the awesome work you Three(and half)! ♡
Would you tell us what the top 3 and bottom 3 were for the building/character combo, stand alone character, etc?
Duffman, Otto, Frink, Hank Scorpio Top
Unfinished Shed, Lugash, Petshop, Film Set- bottom
Dr. Nick, SVT, Bumblebee Man, Moleman- Top
Funzos, Mime, Arnie Pye, K-9 Officer- Bottom
Stadium, Lardlad, Observatory, Open Air Stage- Top
Try N Save, Clamphitheater, Stacy’s Dream House, Sprawl Mart
Why do people dislike Arnie Pye so much? I always think he seems kinda cool when I see him on my friends town, what with the helicopter and everything…
Duffman wasn’t all that high I my list before, but, after seeing these results, I’m thinking about reconsidering his place. I have wanted Dr. Nick all along, but just been having trouble spending that much for a stand-alone character (but I know it’s just a matter of time…).
One thing really surprised me and one thing made me curious… I always got the sense that there was a higher percentage of older people here than the survey results indicate…maybe we just post more here or tend to have more “conversational” posts? The thing that made me curious was why the UK percentage was so high, compared to, say, Canada – or the whole rest of Europe combined!
Interesting info, though, and so adorably presented! 🙂
I believe it’s the helicopter flying in your screen whenever you’re trying to tap something…
The helicopter looks cool but functionally it’s a nightmare. I almost started deleting Neighbors during Tapball because of him. First you had to look and look just to find a fan to tap, then when you found them you had to wait for that stupid helicopter to get out of the way.
Thank you. I’m surprised Miss Springfield doesn’t rate higher since the Sleep Eazy Motel is such a great building on its own. Why are people so down on Arnie, is it just because when he flies around we accidently tap on him?
That’s pretty much it
This reply for Sandra (although if she’s already left for her vacation, she may not see it) you wonder why there’s such a high number of players in the U.K. compared to the rest of Europe etc.
I think it must have something to do with language, maybe the Simpsons just isn’t funny in other languages (if shown at all) therefore just not as popular.
Come on now, that was an inteligent hypothesis (for me)
I’ll just go back to being silly *slinks away*
🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼🌹🌸🌼🌻🌺
Don’t know if Alissa can confirm, but on the poll, where it said “what is your favourite feature of the site?”
I ticked other, and wrote in the box ….Sandra, Totbox & Tapebelt.
See you’re popular (with me) actually that is probably NOT a compliment
I love the rest of you too, Kimberlyah, Ana pizza high, Vanessa MY, Runicgem, Chezledent, Barleecreations, Amy Go, Simp7fan, Brooders,……too many to mention
💖💘💗💝💟💜💓💚💙💗💘💖
.
@Lee – I’m still here… Vacation doesn’t start until Saturday. And I’m honored to be on your “faves” list!!
I thought about the English language thing, but that doesn’t explain why there would be so many more Brits than Canadians! However, I’m always amazed and impressed by how many non-Native-English-speaking people actually DO post here…I can’t imagine having the courage to attempt to post on a French language forum with my rusty, ancient French! And I always think it’s funny how much they apologize for their “bad” English, when their English is often more grammatically correct than a lot of posts from some native English speakers who post here. (I seriously worry about the literacy level of some posters….usually the ones who sound fairly young. But that’s a subject for another time…)
Woah where’s the love for arnie Pyle?! He had the coolest outdoor tasks ever!
I would like his helicopter tasks if they didn’t interfere with tapping
He was one of my first premium purchases just because of his outdoor task. I got tired of his being in the way of other game play pretty quickly and now I rarely (usually by mistake) give him that task.
I also like him cos of the 2 day task he provides woo!
30’s are so smart, 30s are so smart, S-M-R-T, I mean…S-M-A-R-T!
I’m glad I’m not alone on the Funzos. Maybe if they had some sort of task like Mr. Teeny, they’d be worth the donuts. Or if they were some random unlock like the Spuckler brood (and not premium characters).
Can’t remember what I selected for the premium character/building combo, but I completely forgot about Chester and the unfinished shed. Created off a joke from the game or brief mention on the show? Supposedly based on a family member of someone at Fox/Gracie Studios/EA? Character that was supposed to be on the show but was cut? We may never know, but we now know no one really likes him (but do like him slightly more than Funzos)!
No mention of us single folks. Or am I the only single one here and the stats were to low to make this post. Dang.
But at least I have the Simpsons right? This is all really interesting to me. Knowing this about fellow tappers. When will yall post your answer vlog?
As soon as we record it lol
It’s hard to get us all available on the same day. We’re working on it 😉
I’m single, so you aren’t alone. I’m with you I would have thought there would have been more of us to have made our stats count. Guess we are few in numbers here.
I was surprised that the 50+ group is 8.4%. Unfortunately, I am in that group. I was glad to see some of us old time gamers playing. Like I always told my son, if my generation hadn’t been enthralled with the very first video game for TV – none of this probably would have happened. Pong – LOL. Then there was Atari……. It had a game that even thinking about the audio still makes me feel anxious today. The code, the code, figure out the code, and if you didn’t figure it out – your game exploded. You needed to know all this. 🙂
Actually the game was Bomb Squad and was on Intellivision, not Atari
I’m in the 50+ group, and I can tell you from personal experience that the first video game console that had any kind of success was the Magnavox Odyssey system. My grandfather bought it for us in 1972. It came with semi-transparent plastic screens that you stuck to the TV screen with static electricity. The game controllers were boxes with up and down knobs, and another knob for adding English to the ball. The games were very sketchy at best. you had to use your imagination. There were all kinds of accessories included or available for purchase like dice, and chips, etc. Though the games were very primitive, we thought it was the neatest thing ever invented. Look it up on Wikipedia if you doubt me. My one regret is that no one kept the system. We tossed it out.
Add me to the 50s group, too! It’s hard to define when I started playing video games, because I’ve been playing computer games since about 1973(?) – when does a computer game become a “video game”? I think of TSTO as a computer game, no? My first computer games were Adventure, Shoot the Wampus, and an extremely rudimentary version of Star Trek.
Or, wait…are we gonna include TI calculator games in there, too? I had a classmate who had a very early programmable calculator on which you could play Lunar Lander (I was terrible at that…but my very worst game – and here we go into a different type of video games….arcade games – was Qbert. He would always immediately commit suicide as soon as my quarter hit the bottom of the coin box, lol! As a per-second-of-entertainment option, that was probably the most expensive game I ever played, lol!).
Okay, enough time on memory lane…back to watching my TV show about androids and aliens!
How many said New Zealand all up? If they admit to who they are, im friending them. That said i havent been able to add friends for a while because ‘an error occurred’. But i will still try
I did. I’m a New Zealander and proud of it.
I also hope, that if we do change flags, tapped out will let us update to the new one. But i doubt we will change.
Log out of your Origin account then log back in. See if that helps. Maybe a restart in the middle of that, too.
Well, I’m one of the rare ancients (75😱) who play the game. I love the blog for all the information and help. Thanks you guys for doing such an awesome job.
That’s so cool. So, you were 50 when the Simpsons began it’s run. Did you watch it at the time? Did you start playing TSTO at the start?
Sorry that this is in the wrong place but I couldn’t find any info on this. Does TSTO work with iOS 8? I remember reading something not long ago that the two were not compatible but I keep getting asked to update my iPad. Just want to make sure because I simply can not go a day without playing lol
It should..but I’m an android player. Any iOS players have insight?
I can definitely confirm it does work with IOS 8, since that’s the version of IOS that I have running on my iPad at the moment.
I have the latest iOS. It’s iOS 8.4.1 and my game works perfect. I’ve never had any problems with my game.
Thanks everyone. I tried and it is fine. Thanks for the input. You are the best!!!!
It feels weird to be one of the few +50 year old players. Funny. I don’t feel that old. 😋. I’m still a kid at heart-much to the chagrin of my wife (at times). 😜 I’m loving the game as much as ever. I guess I should cave into peer pressure and get Duff stadium and Dr Nick. I’d love to have the two, but I’m a (mostly) freemium player. Personally- I’m a monorail lover. I looking forward to seeing my little monorail train circling my Springfield.
“I’m” looking forward. Not “I” looking forward. Stupid auto correct! 😤
That was awesome, I Love useless facts! Thanks!
Are you yelling at me about something? I don’t get it.
Nope, being serious, I enjoy reading useless facts.
I see what you were thinking, mine was a separate post it was not in response to you, just below you
I’m a bit surprised that hybrid players greatly out number premium players. From reading other’s posts I was under the impression that it was the other way around.
Google Rewards and Amazon Coins (via giftcards from Swag Bucks) made being a hybrid player so much easier.
What do you do with Google Opinion Rewards?
Just Golden Scratch-Rs, or dozen donuts?
I can’t get that Google rewards app to work on my tablet or I would be all over that thing.
In reply to Gk3: I usually save up Google Reward credits til I have enough for 60 donuts. I’ve noticed a real increase in surveys lately so they are stacking up much quicker.
Thanks Nicola_HL, I don’t get that many surveys so my impatience usually gets the better of me so I buy Golden Sratch Rs, maybe I should save up more.
I am SO glad I am not the only one in their (ahem) 30’s! Really interesting to see the stats and favourites and worst ever lol : D
Lovely to be a part of this community thank you all for letting me stay …even if sometimes I am a wee bit crazy!
Who’s to say what’s crazy, and what’s normal
▪◾◼⬛ 🕓 🚙💨
Why do so many people dislike the Try-N-Save??? It’s from probably THE most classic episode ever!! Although I totally agree on Chester and Funzo. Those guys suck LOL. Whoever thought it was a good idea to offer an unfinished shack as a premium building is like, seriously disturbed. (I hope somebody recognized that quote..)
I don’t recognize it. *turns in simp7fan badge*
I don’t know about Try N Save either…. *turns in another badge*
I do know about Funzo…but not Chester… Do I turn in a badge or not?
What was the unlock dialogue on Chester? “Here’s a character that was never seen and a building that was never seen, only mentioned in the show.” Sounds great, EA….
Lol well the quote isn’t from the Simpsons so *hands back badge*
And honestly I haven’t seen any mention of Chester outside the game, no idea who he is.
And the Try-N-Save is from a ton of Christmas episodes!! Specifically when Bart steals Bonestorm and gets caught by the kapeesh guy lol.
Challenge accepted. I’ll be back in 20 to 40 minutes. Time for some Christmas in July^H^H^H^HAugust.
Oh, yeah…I wasn’t just watching random Simpsons episodes, like Marge Vs. The Monorail…
So, darn, I only have up to Season 5 on DVD (and no TV service or good internet…). Apparently the first appearance of the store is from Season 7, and it’s mentioned to be in the next 4 seasons or so. I’m sure that I’ve seen it before. Just not that familiar after all this time, unfortunately. A later season has the Funzos being from there, so that’s my guess as to why this store would be on the dislike side.
I honestly don’t mind Try-N-save, it was in the Simpsons Game too! As Marge’s collectibles
But Funzos are just too expensive for what they are/do! hehe
And Chester…I think he was mentioned in passing on the show and in game but…
That’s what I’m saying!!!! Why all the Try and Save hate? Who doesn’t love the little quarter rides out front?! Personally I love the Try and Save but looks like I’m in the minority.
I began playing the game at about the time of the Clash of Clones event but I didn’t really start reading this blog until Christmas,…..man, I wished I had started with this blog sooner. If I had I wouldn’t have made so many mistakes and lost out on so much.
Wow exactly the same as me! I hope you add me: yunnyko
Same here, I started in Halloween 2013 casually kinda, but then Easter/Stonecutters addictively when I discovered bluestacks, but was relying on Tapped Out wiki until the end of last year around Christmas.
You guys are soo awesome!!!!! 😀
Oh I wish I could, but at the moment I don’t have any openings. It is times like the that I wish you could add more then 100 neighbors.
I started exactly the same time – well, quite near the end of clash of clones – but needed this site almost from day 1. I remember rushing tasks just so I could get Bart in time, and therefore get his castle too.
I lost out on so many things from that event because I didn’t have any neighbors nor knew exactly what I was doing. This blog has been a life saver.
The clash of clones was a pretty complicated event to start playing! I really didn’t know what was going on. I wonder if the events are simpler now, or if I’m just a smarter player because of this blog^^ Anyway, I didn’t know I’m also at 100 neighbours so let’s all keep each other in mind for later! 🙂
So the average player is a thirty something, working guy, in the U.S. with an i-phone ……don’t want to stereotype but Chandler Bing comes to mind. 🙂 ……or Joey. “How you doin’ !” 🙂
👄 👅 👏 🆒 🚝 ♻ 🍩 📲
I’m in my 30s, work 8-5 M-F, live in the US, play on an iPhone . . . and my name’s Joey. Ha.
Im 10
I thought you were 13.
I like how you displayed all the information. I was a little surprised there wasn’t more people in their 20s (I’m 26)
Also I’m surprised there isn’t as many visitors from the UK… I’m from England, I’ll have to spread the word for you here 😉 because this is a great site.
The US is about 5x the population of the UK so the stats show a completely proportional representation.
Plus, there wasn’t a question about “commenting”, so the UK might represent a higher number than who responded to the poll.
I’ve heard of England, do you know the Queen ?
🙂
lol …we have tea with her regularly! So nice she even let’s us borrow her crown : D
I’m from England and didn’t reply to the poll. So there you go, there are more of us!
Funny. For the favorite and least favorite events I was very surprised! Tap ball, superheroes, and pride day I assumed would be the lest liked! I loved all the Easters and halloweens
i thought the least favorite event would have been clash of clones. i’m a freemium completest, but after a while, even i stopped bothering with it.
Oh yeah! See CoC was so bad that I actually forgot about it! Haha I never see the items from those events in towns.
So Homer is more likely to Play the game than Shawna and Mr. Burns.
As far as which restroom – I wonder how many would use both… You know, for emergancies.
If 65% are in a relationship or married then 35% is looking for love in all the wrong places – which seems to be clear that it isn’t at work. But if 35% are free agents they might be the same 31% that forgot to water thier house plant, so if they can’t take care of a plant maybe they shouldn’t be in a relationship or have a plant for that matter. But MAYBE I have this wrong, maybe those possabliy lonely 35%ers aren’t lonely at all and are the Happy Ones boosting the percentage of the 40%ers with Sunshine on a cloudy day :p
60% U.S.A. – I wonder the percentage of them on the West Coast, East Coast, Central America and those whom live in the unknown location of Springfeild (maybe we will find out next year). :p
Now that I’m done looking at and playing with the numbers, I have a game to get back to 🙂
That was awesome.
Funny breakdown of the breakdown!
I have “used” the other restroom. Sometimes only girls has the changing table…and I have a little one in diapers. You do the math.
Well, I’ll balance you out – if it’s an individual style one, I quill definitely use the men’s one if I have to. (Frankly, unless it’s a communal-style restroom, I don’t even understand why they would be gender labeled in the first place.
)
I agree with you. I don’t see why it can’t just be first-come first-serve with the individual rooms. It’s pretty much how it works…except for the added shame… lol
Soooo, could you put the number of responses in the summary? Like, “over 10,000” or whatever it is? 🙂
I was surprised by Superheroes Event. I thought I heard everyone complain about that one. Did I mishear?
(I didn’t get a chance to play it.)
Yes there where things that I disliked about the Superhero event though in the end that’s the one I picked for my favorite. I had a hard time choosing from the Superhero, Twilliger (sp?), and Tap Ball events. Each one had good and bad points to them. In the end it was hard to beat cool superhero outfits.
Oh, good. I wasn’t misinterpreting it. …And I’m jealous. 🙁
There are certain bloggers who complain about everything all of the time very frequently. Maybe one of the poll questions could have been: How much do you love the game? Possible answers could be: Hate it, like it a little, average, like it moderately, love it, worlds biggest fan.
Yes, that would have been a great question! Probably needs a “love AND hate” option, too.
I think you did mishear…IIRC, I definitely saw more people excited by, then disappointed in, the superheroes event while it was going on. Many squees over Spider Pig, too! 🙂
No the Superhero event was awesome!!! 😀
My only complaint would be lack of main questline but… 😀
People always complain though, it was good though, but I suspect Monorail might be the next highest?
Awesome poll! I love learning about our community! Everyone here ROCKS! And I’m glad I’m not the only one who dislikes the Funzos. 🙂
Even though I didn’t participate in that survey… I fall in all the major groups with you guys except for 2 .. I didn’t know about TSTO Addicts till the Christmas of 2014 “even though I was playing since early 2014” which I’m very sorry for
And I live in Iraq
Either way I really love you guys and I had so much fun and experience from your advices
So a big thanks from Mesopotamia to all of you
I don’t know if you will do another poll but a bit about me:
Addicted to Tapped Out from the very first day. 51 years young. Living in Australia and 100% into the Simpsons. Simpson bedspread, all kinds of Simpsons, from slippers, to backpacks, to computer mouse, to biscuit tins, cards, shampoo, photo frames, doona covers, wall murals, magnets, dolls, dvds, etc, more than 3000 pieces. A great collection. I missed out on a huge Homer Simpson. It was really a beautiful one. I even have an inflatable Simpson couch. If it’s Simpson I have it.
I am more of a freemium person, although I have bought a few donuts a couple of times. Here in Australia donuts are more expensive and they have gone up a lot in price. I cannot afford them.
I play between every hour to four hours in challenges and three times a day when there are no challenges. My characters are always on a mission.
Hello Joco. I’m the other guy who is 51 who is playing the game. 😜
What’s a doona cover?
I think you guys might call a Doona a quilt. Goes on the bed and has feathers in it. So a Doona cover is what you put over it
OH! haha, I love those little differences in language. We call that a duvet cover and the blanket inside is the comforter.
Hey Alistair
Looking at the numbers for what people tap on iPhone/Android/iPads/etc…
Looks like you’ve accounted for 139% of the tappers!!! Not a bad trick 😛
Really cool stats overall!
>
The question allowed you to answer more than one device …I ticked android tablet & android phone 🙂
I’m sure it’s because some tappers tap on more than one device, e.g., iPhone and iPad. So they’d be counted in both categories and account for a percentage that exceeds 100.
Its not as clever as people ticking multiple boxes, Bunny just misplaced a jetbike and some white fences nearby.
Many people play on more than one device. I, for example, play on my iPad on evenings and weekends, but, during the day, switch over to my Kindle Fire HD, because my iPad is a work device and I’m not supposed to use it to play games on during the work day.
What continues to amaze me is the number of people who play this game on their cell phones… Even just switching from my 9″ iPad to my 7″ Kindle makes it seem so much smaller, and I generally keep most of my decorating to do I the iPad. I can’t imagine playing on such a significantly smaller screen, as most cellphones have!
But we do it… iPhone 5 for me. I actually was playing next to my friend on their iPad and was atounded by the difference yet I still tap on my tiny device.
Hey, Wook – did you ever get the email I sent you a couple of weeks ago about the backpack? It may be too late by now, but I want to make sure you saw it…
I believe he commented back about it, but you may have missed it. I re-forwarded the email right to him just in case. 😉
Hmmmm… Definitely never got an email back and didn’t notice any response posts about it, unless it was buried in the avalanche when the event first started (I did at least skim all of those comments though, generally stopping reading when I’d realize it was another one about the Spuckler kid or the negative number of tasks thing.
Wouldn’t have been email. Comment I passing but I swore I saw one. Either way… I’ll double check and make sureservations he saw it. Sometimes with 3 of us in n out… we miss things that are “for me only”. 😉
