Merry Christmas, Tappers! Things are certainly growing more festive in Springfield every day! Merrymakers getting hopped up on whatever is in a Hot Squishy, we have (or are working on) a Snowman large enough to block the sun, and decorations are keeping us all in the spirit!
By now, many of you have wrapped up the Effigy in White questline (or are close) with the Best Snowman Ever. A post on that will be coming up shortly.
Once you complete your snowman, Ned will realize it’s time to bake up “some similar-sized gingerbread-y!” Who knew Flanders could be so competitive?
Here are the basics…
Gingerbread Mansion

Placement: Grass/Pavement
Earns: 32 hats/8hours (at level 5)

How Do I Get The Gingerbread Mansion?
The Gingerbread Mansion is FREE and unlocks via the Can’t Catch Me I’m the Gingerbread Man questline. Turbo tapping guide is here.
This is a five-part questline, similar to the Effigy in White (Snowman questline). You will send groups of characters (Youngsters, Kooks, etc.) to work at the Gingerbread Mansion in order to upgrade it to its final stage. Once it’s complete, similar to the Snowman, it will earn event currency.
How Do I Level Up?
Well it’s pretty simple really. You have two ways to access your Gingerbread Mansion. You can tap on the event menu (remember you access that via the Santa Hat Trophy on the bottom right of your screen). The icon looks like this: 
The second item listed in the menu on the left (magnifying glass with green “up” arrow) is the Find Attraction Screen:
See the second icon? That’s the one you’ll want to tap. Tapping “Go To” under the Mansion will take you to it (similar to the Monorail Event and the recycling centers). You can also simply tap directly on the Gingerbread Mansion.
Once you’ve opened the Gingerbread Mansion screen, it will tell you what you need to do in order to complete each level.
But we know some of you like planning ahead, so here is a quick rundown of each level.

Each character will earn hats when they complete their tasks, so sending all possible characters will earn you the most hats. As always, premium characters (not premium skins) earn at a higher rate. As some of you have noted with Sherri and Terri and the Hot Squishee Stand, right now they are not earning at a higher-than-normal premium rate for event tasks. Not sure why that is, but it’s how EA has set up the event.

Keep in mind that not all characters from each group will be permitted to do the tasks. EA has set it up so only a limited number characters from each category can go.
Once you’ve completed all of the levels, you will have earned a total of 6810 hats. In addition, the fully upgraded Mansion will earn 32 hats every 8 hours. We don’t yet know if it will earn money after the event is over. We’ll find out when it happens.
Here’s what the fully upgraded Mansion will look like:
Once the Mansion is fully upgraded, you will also be able to select your favorite façade.
Is the Grind Worth It?
YES! You will receive 6810 hats just for upgrading and that figure doesn’t even include how much you will earn for sending characters on their tasks at the Mansion.
Strategies to Maximize the Hat Payout
If you want to maximize the hat payout you get from the characters completing the levels, you can stagger how you send them out, allowing you to send some of them more than one time. For example, the task “Make Youngsters Clear Buildspace” requires four characters to complete, but allows you to send seven characters. If you send three characters, instead of the available seven, then when the initial three are done, you can send all seven to complete the task. This would allow you to complete the task total of ten times instead of only seven (assuming you have all of the characters in your game). AND, if you send the premium character(s) on tasks twice, you will earn even more hats.
This strategy is certainly not right for everyone because it will take you longer to complete each level, particularly the tasks that are 6 or 8 hours, effectively doubling the length of each task. But if you are able to be in your game frequently or don’t have all of the characters, this might be a good strategy. Of course, if you are in your game frequently, you may not need to utilize this strategy because you may have no problem earning hats. Remember you’ll earn bonuts if you finish all the prizes before Act 1 ends…

I’m not sure about the strategy to maximize hat earning from upgrade tasks. I’ve used it in past events, but in this case, since the fully upgraded house will bypass the grind and start earning hats periodically, it seems a better idea to reach the maximum level as soon as possible.
By the way, do you plan on doing SIBs for all the limited-time items in the store? Always good to have a breakdown before spending donuts on this stuff 🙂

Just completed gingerbread upgrade and also obtained final prize of Act1. Got three Days n three hours to spare. I remember telling someone to do their best and not to give up as he said he started later like 2 days. Best of luck!
Ok so I just unlocked vigils cabin on 12/15 and I need to get the gingerbread mansion done by Friday and I’m try to upgrade to level 4 on the 6 hour task and I have school from 7:30 to 3 and not allowed to have a phone any strategys or tips?
You’re actually doing ok. You’re right about where i am…just keep following what you’re doing. Set the tasks just before school, clear at 3 and reset and do it again at 7/9 (depending on the time of the task), you’ll get there.
Tip is to mess up your hair, wear your PJs, apply some rouge to the tip of your nose, take a thermometer, place it in some warm water, then show it to your parents and say you have a fever and aren’t feeling well, then cough or sneeze a few times. Once they leave you in your room, get tapping.

Got my mansion finished this morning ad shortly after that unlocked the two urchins.nights just working on my monorail and other bonus donuts now until act 2 starts.along with friend visits and daily challenges I’m hoping for a 50 donut week. 😉

You can’t necessarily tell by looking at their snowman whether they’re still building it, since, once it’s done, you can pick which “look” you like best and some folks like the under-construction look….
You can if you see a character hanging out right in front of it. That’s the sign that they were working inside and are coming out for the neighbor visit. That’s what I saw on some of them. You’re right, some didn’t have a character in front and might have chosen that façade.

Thanks for posting this. If I continue the maximizing hats technique I’ve been employing, which was also highlighted at the bottom of this article, despite unlocking Patches and Poor Violet tonight or tomorrow on level 3 of the gingerbread house, I won’t finish the entire quest or upgrade until Saturday around noon. Though I should earn several rounds of bonus donuts. May have to sacrifice some hats and speed it up to time it to finish the quest right before Act 2 Hits..
I’m totally confused by what you just said here….you said you were concerned about making it to the end of the questline in time, but then you talk about getting several rounds of bonuts? Are the bonuts earned after Patches & Violet, or after finishing the gingerbread house? Guess I need to go back and read some of the posts more carefully, because I just realized that I’m totally unclear on this!

Okay, thanks. Got Virgil’s cabin a short while ago (done playing for the day)…this is the first time that I’ve ever been only on pace with the calendar (instead of at least one or two days ahead) at this point in an Act. I’m not too worried about not getting P&V, but it’s definitely not looking good for getting any bonuts… (Thankfully, the weekly 20 seem to be pretty easy to achieve, and I still expect to get my usual 5 from the rail yard. Oh, and I’ve been getting one donut most days from visiting neighbors. 🙂 )

My freedom (i.e., retirement) and lifetime security for me and my parents. After that, we’ll see!
My idea of rich is to have so much money that money just isn’t an issue anymore. I don’t particular crave expensive stuff – cars, jewelry, yachts, etc. (although I wouldn’t mind a house with more than one bathroom, a spare bedroom, and a garage…) – but I’d just love to know that I never have to worry about having not enough money for things that I and my family/friends need and for the few things that I really do want (like a smartphone…I think I’m the only person I know who doesn’t have one, but I just don’t want to add to my monthly expenses to get one,,,,and I wouldn’t mind upgrading my TiVo to one that can handle HD….and I’d really love to be able to take classes in stuff and maybe do a little traveling and go to the “real” theater (as opposed to just community theater) and stuff like that).
Okay…now that you have me daydreaming about all of this, I’d better have a winning number this time!! 😉

I’m just giving you a hard time. I have many wonderful neighbours. I only got 1 present on Sunday and wrote that somewhere yesterday morning on this post, and boom, was gifted almost 12 to 15 presents yesterday.
I’ve taken Fridays off every week in exchange for working til 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I’m still at work for another 70min today. So hoping I come home to find 5 presents left in my Springfield. My merrymen are long overdue for being tapped.

Finished mine today! A long slog but I got Patches and Violet so I can focus on my monorail bonuts until Act 2 starts. Lots of my neighbours have gingerbread houses from past events and I’ve always wanted one.
I *might* be able to get one round of bonus from the hats but I doubt it. They’re hard to collect when you can’t earn them from tasks.
Any idea if we can continue leveling these after the end of Act 1 or if this needs to be fully leveled before then?

I strangley like the original GB House look more than the mansion so I think I’ll change it back a day after it’s finished.
I’ve never been to fond of GB houses because you can’t eat them until it’s old and stail :p
I like the ground on level one, but the level 2 building is cooler. I wish they could be combined.

My guess is yes, but there’s no way to know for 100% sure until Act 2 hits…you never know what EA’s going to do. I can tell you there will be more things to upgrade once Act 2 hits..
I was thinking about saving the last upgrade for the next act, to get a jump start on it. Not sure if I can accumulate the 4000 hats needed for the bonuts, and then it’s just a waste of perfectly good hats.
On the other hand, if it doesn’t roll over, I would hate to be stuck with a half upgraded gingerbread house. What to do… *sigh*
while crafting currency will remain the same (bows and ornaments), event currency will probably switch from santa hats to something else in act 2, and the same with act 3. in fact, from the hints that come up when you click on tabs 2 and 3 in the event menu, my guess is act 2’s currency will be mistletoe and act 3’s will be pacifiers…. 😉
I was hoping the payout would change to the new currency in act 2, like it will for the merry makers. But I upgraded now anyway, at least that got me a couple more donuts 🙂
If it worries you, complete it. Once it is confirmed by someone that the upgrading continues into the next act, you can then use that technique going into act 3. The overtime is better in act 3, anyways, because it does not end until the forced update by EA.
Did upgrade now, but kinda accidentally – just tapping away and without thinking sending people on the last mission. Shouldn’t be a problem to earn enough in act 2 anyway, the last couple of events the first act was always the hardest.
i wonder if it rolls over, if will it award next act’s event currency…. might be a way to get a leg up on next act if you don’t care about the bonut rounds.
Also there are 4 more upgradable buildings coming with act 2 anyway so I’d go ahead and make sure you get the level 5 GB House

Try uninstalling/reinstalling. (as long as you have an account to back your game up) If that doesn’t work contact EA
This will be the first event where i truly think i will not reach all the prizes in time and will need to buyout the remaining hats with doughnuts and this is despite buying both ice queens burns and the duff bottlecap building ( i forget whats its called)
i have been staggering the building of the snowman and i checking in 4 times a day to clear merry makers. and the woolly bully as well as neighbor visits (but hey stop giving out hats very early on for me)
i cant help but think i have completely missed out a santa hat earning avenue considering many people seem to have already finished with the prizes and are onto earning their bonus doughnuts

Are you also doing the Hot Squishee Stand upgrades? You’ll get 600 hats for finishing the questline, which is to upgrade to level 20.
900 hats shy of Virgil’s Cabin today puts you right on pace with the calendar. As per the calendar, most people “should” unlock Virgil’s Cabin today. But as we know, the bonus on upgrading Snowman and Gingerbread House are significantly back loaded. So even if you don’t unlock Virgil until tomorrow (even possibly as late as Thursday), I’d still say you should be able to unlock all prizes.
I think you should stop staggering the Snowman tasks, because you really need to get onto the gingerbread house now! Keep in mind that you get a LOT of hats as a bonus for finishing each upgrade of snowman/gingerbread house.
Is anyone else having issues getting enough hats? I play multiple times a day, visit friends every day and have completed the effigy in white quest, but I am 4000+ hats behind the calendar. I see friends that have double the hats I do, not sure how I got so far behind.
Might be only the second event act I haven’t successfully completed this year.

I just got the final prize and it says to keep collecting hats for bonus donuts (4000 for the first bonus , not sure if it stays the same or increases for each level).
my fault forgot to fix it..
“Remember, there is no bonut payout for earning more hats after the last prize in Act I.”
this must be an error, as there absolutely are bonut rounds after the act 1 prizes are all unlocked. as bunny pointed it out in her calendar post, it’s 4000 santa hats per round; i’m currently working on my first set.
my fault forgot to fix it..that’s what happens when you have a screaming baby and you’re trying to copy a post into WP lol
