Time to explore a galaxy far far away…as the Space Update teased by EA has hit our games!
This is an IN-GAME UPDATE, so no need to download a new update from the app store (as long as you’ve downloaded the winter removal update. If you’re still seeing snow in Springfield, you won’t see the Space Update).
Kent Brockman will auto-start this for you. After the first part (which is basically instant built), you’ll need Comic Book Guy free to start part 2 and Homer free for the task…which is 6s. At that point you’ll unlock a few of the Deep Space Homer items in the store. Once you complete another 6s task for Homer the “event” itself will start. At least initially, this looks similar to the Thanksgiving Event we had this past year. Where you complete tasks to unlock prizes.
I’ll be back with more details as soon as I go through it all….
It looks like (at least initially) this “event” is 2 weeks long…so it’ll end just in time for a Valentine’s Day Event..
Sorry this took me a little longer than anticipated to update…dealing with a 2 month old who didn’t want to nap today.
First up, from what I can tell by the game script requirements. You have to have Quimby unlocked in order to start this.
So, as mentioned above this is similar to the Thanksgiving Event, where you have to complete tasks in order to unlock prizes. The prize task screen will open for you once you’ve completed Mars Won Pt. 3.
First let’s look at what’s new in the store..

Depending how far into the task Homer is, can you ‘rush’ the job with donuts? Though, If it is too many donuts, I wouldn’t worry, you will not be that far behind, you still have a little while before the event is over. 🙂

Is anyone else seeing yellow lights moving across their games? I’ve been seeing gray ones for weeks, and now they’ve just turned yellow, so I know it’s not a vision problem on my part, haha.
Also scoring Barney for 120 donuts is like a dream come true!

They must be chips, but on my tiny Android screen they just looked like flashing lights. And I have been seeing gray versions of these chips in my game for weeks now, especially near my junkyard!
Yes, I thought it was a glitch with the snow falling. I havent noticed any since I dewintered myself.
I was tapping on them like crazy ’til I figured out they were chips. Now I’m missing the Blue Danube Waltz music….
Homer’s been having a blinking gray dot that follows him on his “Pick up Trash” task for quite a while now, at least in my game.

Yes besides the yellow chips, I’ve had weird gray circles gradually moving across the screen. They are a little smaller than a dime and seem to appear close to my dump???
They are the “shadow” of the chips as they rotate around then disappear.
Watch Home when he’s picking up trash. In my game, they appear about an inch behind him, but only him.

Doh! I just nuked my town and was overwhelmed by the thought of putting everything back. I guess now I’ll just pull out the essentials. After nuking, I think my town might be too big. Well time to grind.

Ow, nooooo! I, addicted Freemium player for years now, saved donuts up since last year January! I doubted about buying Barney, had the donuts, but ended up buying crazy-cat lady, yesterday, just because I wanted her more. Now the new event is up, I see there’s a 130 donut refund on Barney. I’m crying my eyes out, ’cause I could had have them both! Can you ‘unbuy’ something??

OMG, yes! Normally, just Barney and the Bowl-a-Rama is 250, but to get both of those PLUS a skin for Barney for a net of 120 is a total no brainer! And, as a core character, I assume that Barney gets used a lot for stuff during events (and he does earns stars for this one).

Had to go to the dark side and get more donuts to get the Barney deal (astronaut skin and 130 donuts back). Passed on the Disco Stu and Sherri & Terri deals, so didn’t want to miss out on this one. Luckily the $5 credit on my acct. covered the needed donuts.

I haven’t read this yet, but wow an event 2 days after the last event?! I assume it’s a mini event being that it’s an in-game update. Still, no break. I hope this is enjoyable enough for me to not get burnt out after the long Winter event.
For measure, this seems on the scale of Thanksgiving. Seems really enjoyable thus far!

Wow, I should’ve known I’d never be quick enough. The update hit right between friend visits, I played 60 seconds of it before coming here, and boom, announcement post is already up!
So far the dialogue is pretty funny, and holy smokes, Barney’s got a MASSIVE 130-donut rebate!
