Time to explore a galaxy far far away…as the Space Update teased by EA has hit our games!
This is an IN-GAME UPDATE, so no need to download a new update from the app store (as long as you’ve downloaded the winter removal update. If you’re still seeing snow in Springfield, you won’t see the Space Update).
Kent Brockman will auto-start this for you. After the first part (which is basically instant built), you’ll need Comic Book Guy free to start part 2 and Homer free for the task…which is 6s. At that point you’ll unlock a few of the Deep Space Homer items in the store. Once you complete another 6s task for Homer the “event” itself will start. At least initially, this looks similar to the Thanksgiving Event we had this past year. Where you complete tasks to unlock prizes.
I’ll be back with more details as soon as I go through it all….
It looks like (at least initially) this “event” is 2 weeks long…so it’ll end just in time for a Valentine’s Day Event..
Sorry this took me a little longer than anticipated to update…dealing with a 2 month old who didn’t want to nap today.
First up, from what I can tell by the game script requirements. You have to have Quimby unlocked in order to start this.
So, as mentioned above this is similar to the Thanksgiving Event, where you have to complete tasks in order to unlock prizes. The prize task screen will open for you once you’ve completed Mars Won Pt. 3.

Just bought Barney and my game crashed. Opened it back up and nothing. Lost 250 donuts and didn’t get Barney. Didn’t get the 130 bonus donuts back either.
Check Inventory for the Bowlarama. Build it and you get him and the Costume.
Not in inventory. Went from 278 donuts down to 28. No Barney, no bowlerama. How do you contact EA? Been playing for years and thus is the first issue I’ve ever had

contacted them and was told there is no evidence of this. So I’m just out 250 donuts. Sooooo pissed

Awesome, I was looking for something to replace the Re-Neducation Center, I think with some tweaks this will fit the bill nicely. Being a space nerd I have a feeling I’m going to be blowing through a large stack of donuts.

Absolutely love this, infinity exclamation points! Never used real money on any game before for fear of losing interest, but since I play hourly for going on 3 years now, I think it’s safe; I had to splurge and buy Barney. 130 donuts back! Too good a bargain. What’s funny is I had 400 donuts saved up, then bought the slide factory and this past weekend I bought the gorge. 52 left saving up for the observatory.
If I have barney do I get donuts back if I buy the new skin? Like the look of the space skin and trainer, but usually only spend donuts on new characters.
No. In my game that has Barney, there is already a combo deal with the Space Shuttle and the Costume for 120 Donuts.

Ugh. I spent the full price on Barney at the start of the winter event (hoping the Plow King would make reappearance). I haven’t seen any specials from Gil though. Does he pop up later on?
Well I guess I’m going to have to give up my freemium status, because the Barney deal is too good to pass up, and I have only 58 doughnuts at present.
Worth it. Now you can start referring to yourself as a “mostly freemium player,” like I do. 🙂

I don’t say this often, but “Thank you, EA!” I finally saved up enough donuts in my secondary game to get Barney (no Springfield is complete without a Barney), but was debating whether I should get a pair like Otto and another premium character, or just get Barney. Now I can have both Barney and Otto! As an added bonus, the new Barney that I just bought comes with the alternate spaceman skin, whereas the old Barney in my primary game doesn’t have the astronaut skin (and will probably only get it if I buy the space shuttle).
Stoked with the deal on Barney, he was one of the next characters I was looking at getting, and I had over 530 ‘free’ donuts, so snapped him right up.
Managing to keep up with both the railyard and the events has been a little challenging but I’ve been managing, if they keep putting out events at this pass I doubt I’ll ever finish Springfield heights though
without giving it a second thought, i purchased both the inanimate carbon rod monument (2.75% bonus) and the space shuttle (5 stars every 3 hrs) because they are just too cool not to have!
What does the space shuttle simulator do?
when you tap it, flames burst out of the back. also wouldn’t be surprised if the event payout turns into a regular payout once the event is over.
Maybe most of you here already have barney but for those of us who dont own it buy it NOW! I got barney + bowlrama and space skin for 250 bonuts and recieved 130 donuts back!!! EA is really spoiling us since monorail event.
I’m a fremium player and I always wanted to have Barney. I never spent my precious donuts on anything. Do you guys think that’s a fair price?

Had been wanting the cool brown house for a long while, too, but, when it finally came back, it was way too expensive.
I admire your restraint. The cool brown house is so cool. That was the first returning item I coveted. That may have been the straw that made me premium.
I keep three games alive (mine and two kids). I was able to do the major deal in the fall (premium character, prem. building, more donuts cheap) on two of three.
My commitment to my son, who couldn’t get the deal, was that I’d pony up for donuts if he didn’t have enough and there was a good deal on a character

How do you figure $20? At an average cost of about 6 cents per donut, it’s only a little over $7. But don’t think of it that way….it’s about the best deal I’ve seen here so far.
But if you have to buy a donut package, the one thats 300 donuts is 20 dollars. The package below that isn’t enough donuts. Thats why it would cost 20 dollars to buy Barney, even though it is a good deal
Yes, you’d need to “front” $20, but you’re not really spending $20 worth of donuts…you’ll still have 180 donuts left after the Barney purchase. So, you’d have effectively spend ony $7 of the $20 you converted to donuts. You still have $13 worth of donuts on account, ready to be spent later.
Not really. You have spent the $20. If you put it on a credit card, the Credit Card company won’t live with you saying, “I only spent $7 of my donuts. So, I will only pay you $7.”
In actuality you just haven’t lost the other $13 worth of donuts yet. But the money is gone.
It’s $20 for the 300 donut package. You still need 250 donuts to get Barney before they’ll rebate you. Sounds like what they meant. Yes, you get to use the rest of the donuts on other things, but you are still $20 worth into the dark side.

Love this type of ‘short events’, it allows for a different pace of the game.

I have been waiting for Barney to go on sale for so long! I missed his sale for Black Friday 2014. I almost paid full price for him this week, since I am over 300 donuts now. So glad I didn’t! Regular Barney plus Astronaut Barney for 120 donuts! And I can finally use my Plow King skin too!

Arrggghh! I waited and waited for a Barney sale on Black Friday and through the Christmas event, and I waffled about what to do with 230 donuts, wait a bit and buy Barney or buy Laura Powers, and when the Maggie event ended I bought Laura because I wanted her “first” and I thought Barney would never be discounted. And now there’s no way for me to get enough donuts for Barney! (Without, you know, buying them.) KHAAAAN!

I should have known better than to try and get extra donuts by making rail pieces this week. EA just can’t let us have any down time to do any regular game play. Good thing I’m less than 30,000 from the bonuts and that the Where’s Maggie game is still available.
