It’s time to get our space on, as Deep Space Homer has hit our Springfields! A fun new mini event that’s a “blast”!
Of course, as with all events, a questline comes with it to help move us through the ins and outs of the event…and unlock all of the prizes. As was mentioned on the rundown post this mini event is similar to the Thanksgiving 2015 Event, in that you’ve got to complete various tasks to unlock the prizes.
So let’s take a look at the questline to see just how to unlock all the fun space themed prizes and take your game to infinity and beyond!

And that my friends completes the main questline of the Deep Space Homer Event!

They spend donuts to speed thru everything and compile all the info we need. They also can look in the files which I do not know how to do.(They will not tell you how, you can Oogle it) Isn’t that nice of them to help us desperate addicts out? 🙂

I’m loving this event. This is mostly unrelated to this thread, but I’m gonna make it related and post anyway 😀 For those who have Kabletown (aka Comcast/xfinity) EVERY SINGLE SIMPSONS EPISODE IS NOW AVAILABLE ON DEMAND!!! Every episode, every season. “Deep Space Homer” is S05E15 in case you’re wondering. Anywho, Idk how long they’ve had it, maybe I’m late to the party, but just thought I’d pass that info along…
If you have that service… any cable or satellite actually… log into it at simpsonsworld and every episode is there. I assume that’s where they’re pulling it from.
Seriously?! That sucks because I used to have xfinity but now have fios. While they do play 5 hour marathons 5 days a week, I would love to watch them commercial free and not have to wonder what episode is coming on.
The astro not quest line, what is that? Is that part of this event? I’ve been trying to do both sets of quests just in case

We got 29-32″ of snow depending on what part of town they measured. We’re in a western DC suburb. The boys are out shoveling.
We do get snow here, just not this time. Our weather had been so much nicer than normal until the second week of Jan. I ffigure it is building up and we’ll get pounded in Feb.
Should I complete Barney’s Astro-Not quest or use him to collect Stars? I appreciate your advice.

This is one of my all time favorite episodes of The Simpsons. Buying Astronaut Barney was a no brainer and it’s awesome that he has some of his great quotes from that episode(Homer too). I love the touch of the spinning potato chips too. This is an awesome mini event.

Deep Space Homer’s got a task to eat them, but since it’s 24 hours, it doesn’t look like anyone’s dared to actually do it to see the animation yet.

I even tried to tap just below the potato chips to see if it would work, much like we have to tap “below” Maggie for it to register in the Maggie game. Didn’t work 🙁

Question: I am currently working on collecting 30 stars to earn the Shuttle Hangar and I need 11 more to get to 30. If I collect 15 stars all at once, will the extra 4 carry over to earning the next prize (like the rail yard) or do I lose the extra, like event bonut rounds?

I just got the hangar, and had 3 stars carry over toward the next prize. Also had a small update, but didn’t notice anything different. Patch?
Mine just carried over, I had 3/45 to start the next one.
As long as you have all characters free to kick off the next one they will carry over. On one of em I think you needed Quimby free to kick it off and I had him on a task so my extra stars didn’t carry over.
Odd bit of errata in the dialogue, but Homer wasn’t holding the Rod in the parade; it was seated on a pillow in the car, all by itself.
I love this mini event! I’ve been hoping for Astronaut Homer and I will definitely keep all the spacey stuff in my town (most things from events end up in storage).
Just so I don’t forget, is there a list on this site of buildings which have character tasks? I want to clean up my town and store buildings which just sit there.
No full list because EA is always changing tasks and adding new ones at new locations

It kind of sucks for the people that spent 250 donuts on Barney now need to spend another 120 donuts really just to get the skin in order to use for this quest.

Is there an incentive for trying to finish the quest line quickly? You said something about rocket launches… would finishing a few days earlier give me more of those?
Nope.
Kinda… just like you had more opportunities to find Maggie the sooner you finished the Maggie questline… not a huge incentive, but the sooner you finish the questline the sooner you can launch rockets.
I love that we can unlock jobs for the Springfield Observatory. Great building from a great episode.
I am loving having the space program in Springfield. (Having a space shuttle can almost make me forget that this is a city without a fire department.)
As a freemium player Barney and the Bowl-o-rama have been cost prohibitive. I’ve saved my doughnuts through the last few events and now Barney is on sale and I can get Barney, the space shuttle, and Rod.
This is one of the best new events so far.
Glad to see some new characters involved with the special events (Miss Hoover, Database, Don Vittorio). Also glad Marge is included pretty much right off the bat.

Ok, I think I’m paying this game too often. I had a dream last night where one of the features of this new quest is a game where you are flying through space with a POV of Homer’s perspective, with floating potato chips coming towards you. You needed to maneuver yourself to eat the chips as they fly by, just like from the episode where Homer goes to space.
Would be kind of a fun addition, no? 😉

Fellow tappers, looking for advice. As a 100 % freemium player with 320 donuts not sure what to buy. Luann has been on my wish list for a while and with her help with the event it might be time to pull the trigger. I think 120 donuts for a skin and decoration is just to much ( imo ). Others on my wish list are :

In my experience, if you’re looking for characters who have more things to do in the game (thus generating more money/donuts), your best bet is probably Frink. After that, maybe Luann. The other characters don’t have much storyline and aren’t integral to the variety of seasonal/thematic Tapped Out events. Akira generates bonsai trees, so that’s something. Hans, CC Lady, Sheri/Teri, and Disco Stu don’t do much, although you do get the disco with Stu.
I think you should stick with your plan and get Luann. Not only does she come with a long and very good quest line, you get the cracker factory and the fleet-a-pita trucks for your town. Luann might be the best thing to spend donuts on in the entire game. Hope this advice is useful.
Right now, Barney with the discount. 120 doughnuts get him, the Bowlarama, and the Space skin. Can’t beat that.
I’m freemium too, and Luann was one of my first purchases. She comes with a good building and her tasks are cool.
I would recommend Luann and Akira – Luann unlocks the Fleet-A-Pita questline and Akira will make bonsai trees for free (they are a current premium item). Professor Frink is always fun too.
I second the vote for Frink. He is just a really cool character with some great animations, and I love his house. I am a big fan of the crazy cat lady as well, but I have six cats so I might be a wee bit biased there. I had held off on getting Barney because of the price, and I finally got a deal worth waiting for with this event! Happy Tapping!

Does the Observatory subjobs earn NARA stars?
nope. Don’t forget the job doesn’t unlock until you’ve completed the full questline and unlocked all the prizes. So at that point, what do you need stars for?

This is a fun event and easily achievable for anyone (freemium or premium) who is willing and able to log in a couple times per day. That shouldn’t be a problem for anyone on an addicts site. 🙂
And then there are those of us who work for a living… But even if I cannot log on every three hours, I at least can afford to throw donuts at the problem 😉
Work, that other four letter word. Hence my one caveat, “able.” But, and I haven’t run any numbers, if you send them overnight, before work, and once or twice after work, I think you’ll be ok. It might seem like a lot of stars, but several characters can earn them. Of course the lower level players might need to log in more often, but that’s going to be true of any event. 🙂
Skinner & Fink both had permanent jobs at the observatory since I purchased it at Black Friday event. I been using it for Skinner for extra $$$

Bernice Hibbert has a job at the Banana Republic (which was initially free, but has returned as a donut purchase) but I don’t think it pays premium. At least it didn’t before, it might have changed.

Pretty much every time a freemium character uses a premium building the payout is premium. I think there are a few exceptions, though, mostly when buildings have been “upgraded”
