Well the Crook and Ladder Event just dropped. It’s about time Springfield got a Fire Department! Time to bust out the fire hose and stock up on those donuts for all those brand new fire themed premium items in our stores.Now I know you may be trying to decide if these are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Fireman Homer and Fireman Apu to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding these calendar pinups to your Springfield…

Pros
-Two skins that both earn at at a premium rate.
-Each character comes with his own questline, so two new questlines
-Hilarious outdoor tasks for each
-Each fireman will earn double medals when doing tasks, so you’ll unlock the prizes faster
Cons
-There already are a million skins for Homer, many of which are premium
-Pricey for costumes for existing characters
-Does not come with a building or decoration
Final Thought:
Premium
Go for it. You know you’re thinking about getting them anyway, so why not just pick them up? The earlier you grab them the more helpful they’ll be for you during the event. It’s not a bad price for two premium skins, and you know it’s going to drive you crazy if you don’t complete the Fire Character Collection…
Freemium
This one is a freemium tossup in my opinion. There’s no great value long term for adding these two to your Springfield. They will help a tremendous amount during this event, but you’ll be able to unlock everything without their help as long as you play diligently. So personally, unless you’re hell bent on getting these two..I would pass. Save those bonuts for something better. Because let’s be honest, how often are you going to use Fireman Homer or Fireman Apu once this event is over?
Of course in the end it’s up to you. We can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do. And personally I can tell you I’m 99.9% sure I’ll be picking these two up…I’ll make my final decision by tonight. Whatever you decide just remember to make your choice before April 14th when they’ll leave our stores forever…also with these two it’s better to make a decision early so they can be the most beneficial to you. 🙂

Both Homer and Apu will be able to put out fires you can “start” after you’ve earned the Fire Station, this is also an outdoor (visual) task.

Not that I see.
Apu says “King of Thieves, We worship you!” and there is a group version of that, then there is “It would be a shame if the next fire you fought … was in hell!”
Homer says “Look at me, I’m a fireman!” “I hope it’s spaghetti!”

I have five premium-pay skins for Homer, one of them being the stonecutter skin which is easily my favorite. I can’t imagine spending donuts on a Homer skin, ever. It would have to be really spectacular, like maybe the giant gold-plated Homer, and that’s a maybe.
Anyway, I also have a premium skin for Apu already, plus one or two others. He’s not as overwhelmed with options as Homer, but no way am I paying 100 donuts just to give him a new skin. I might have considered it if they were sold separately, but even then I’d probably be on the fence about it.
I like these mini events but I wonder – does the increase in the mini events mean Level Updates are no longer happening? I wonder if anyone has heard any rumors in regard to that. It has been a long time since the last level update (I think November). Maybe there have been lulls in the past – I have only been playing since Dec 2014.
I know they are running out of characters but there are still some they can add that are familar to fans (like Richard and Lewis, Sam and Larry the barflies, Julio and Grady, Mrs. Glick, Allison Taylor, etc).
Yes, I heard a rumour, someone called Calvin reckons that EA™ is running out of characters and there won’t be any more level updates, just an increase in mini events

When they started this mini event and building a fire station was mentioned Homer said who are we going to get to run it we have used all of the characters even the ones from deleted scenes lol
I don’t think it means the end of Level updates, I think EA might just be waiting for lower level players to catch up, or they might be building up to something BIG for level 60..
They might be testing out different ideas to see how the graphics look etc.
I think if the mini events bring new items to buy and have little quests, to me, that’s ‘almost’ the same as a new level..

1st comment had me checking my game to see if I had any unaccounted donuts….kept reading before my I threw my 2 cents in….getting a kick out of the April Fools joking….I love jokes & laughing but unfortunately,, I’ve never been good at telling them.😕 Anyways,,i picked up car crash & the skins yesterday. I like to use my skins throughout the year so no regret on these. Got a fire hydrant which left me 9 donuts…went to KL & I actually won 5 so I was able to get another hydrant! The littlest things can make me SO happy!!

As most of you know, premium player here, was on the fence about getting these two. Still undecided since I have Stonecutter for Homer, which is premium. So essentially I’d only be paying for one skin. As for Alissa’s comment about driving premium players crazy if you don’t buy it, can’t drive me there I already took my yearly trip 😀 Actually I’m still visiting lol.
The arsonist in me is definitely having fun with this update. I don’t know how EA did it, but if you hold your finger too long on the fire, you will feel a slight warming sensation. On my iPad, I even feel a small static shock. Try it!

Yes. You need at least Moe but you’ll need quimby too. Level 15 it’ll trigger for you if you have Moe.

Honestly EA’s not known to do anything on April fools. We did have an event last year start on April 1st, but it was Easter nothing April Fools related
Ok, thanks for the update. Should have checked your page earlier. I’m still fairly new and when I saw my Moe’s and a few buildings on fire yesterday I flipped. Lol. If it wasn’t for your page I wouldn’t have known this was an event . My child has been diligently putting out fires for mommy. I’ll have to let him know when he gets home from school.

Hey I’m undergoing lots of medical crap right now and I had a procedure done yesterday. I told my family I got a call from my doctor and they found something and want me to come to the emergency room right away. I’m fine.
So in comparison this was really mild.

He told me he didn’t sleep last night because he’s afraid I have cancer. That laid the guilt on pretty quickly

Thanks. I guess I’m not doing so well, so I’m told (by people who get rich saying that). I’ve been told twice to go to the emergency room and once to enter inpatient treatment in the last week, but I really think doctors exaggerate. I don’t know, if I feel good at the moment then enjoy it. As soon as I got out of the hospital yesterday I walked the two blocks to union square to go to a Bernie rally (with free Ben & Jerry’s, Served by Ben and Jerry themselves) and a rally against the coup in Brazil. Whenever I got tired I’d just sit and listen to the drum circle and watch some hipster paint. One stroke and a couple of aftershocks made me realize just freaking live. I think it’s better to make the most of every moment and enjoy it while you can. Better to live in the now than put off living to live longer until there is no more now then it’s too late anyway. All you know for sure that you have is this very moment in time so why not make it the best moment you can. Sorry, I ramble when I get metaphysical. Yet I spend all my free time tapping out. Ha!

Me too! Just ready to find out what’s going on with it all. Had an MRI this morning on my C Spine…so we’ll see how that turns up for my neck and shoulder blade issues. Fun stuff I tell you 🙂
How was the MRI? I have to have one and I’m kind of freaked out about 40 minutes in box
It was on my cervical spine so it’s one of the fastest areas. But I was also in the newer tube that’s shorter and faster. A combination of the old style, long tube, and the open MRI. But it moves super fast. I was in the tube for 15 minutes, and only my head was in there.
That being said…it was still freaky. So loud, and the top of the tube is like right at your nose. I don’t get claustrophobic but I felt it today, honestly. I just closed my eyes and tried not to think about it.
I had one about 10 years ago on my lumbar spine, that was MUCH worse though. It was the longer tube and took a lot longer.
As long as you close your eyes and try not to think about it, and can focus away from the noise you’ll be fine…
Fortunately white noise calms me. I’m a huge John Cage fan so I know the study of making music of everyday sounds. The whole being right up against my nose thing is what freaks me out and for 40 minutes. Maybe they can give me some fun pills to calm me. Heck I passed out in the waiting room yesterday I was so freaked out

Same here. Luckily I’m not a completionist. Well, maybe a little, but not enough to force my hand here!
My characters get switched out when they do rail yard or SH. Because of that, they’re not in their outfits much unless I find one of those jobs easier to work with. Example is Homer with a million tasks on his main skin, then I switch to another to find a 4h task quickly.

50 donuts a skin are about as cheap as skins come from EA. Yes, I already have a ton of skins for Homer, but I had no premium skins for him up to this point, so making both Homer and Apu premium characters was a big plus for this combo.
Not to mention I’ve racked up easily 250 bonuts over the past month (the last event was great for bonut farming), so that made it easier to jump on the deal.
Totally good point. Just that in my game I have two premium buildings with tasks for all my characters at 1h and 4h, so I’m just that less enticed by having a single premium payout (although they cover 8h and 12h, which I don’t have).
Hey. Love the site!!! Just one question regarding the Fire Update. I know you can purchase 2 premium skins for Homer and Apu but I remember seeing that if you don’t buy them then your able to unlock a burned skin for the both of them. Is this correct or have I read it wrong.

But I actually wanted those skins! LOL. Us freemiums should get a benefit that those impulsive premiums don’t. 😉 (I want the burn skins….not joking. Oh well.)
Apu training the dog is worth it alone. And you nailed it, not competing the set would drive me insane. By the way I think this may be my favorite friend visit set up in a long time. Fun playing arsonist.

I kinda feel that way, too. Not really the set (as those can be more diverse than this) but the team, like the pin pals. Like, I only have 1 pin pal and that’s the set…but it’s maddening that we don’t have the rest of the team! Anyways, I probably won’t complete this team either. 🙁
Ha! The same phrase instantly occurred to me, Alissa- you nailed it on the freemium vs. Premium for me. At first I thought no way was I going to spend 100 donuts on 2 skins for characters that already have multiple skins that I probably wouldn’t use much after the event. No Way! But then I considered the possibility of a joint task on the fire truck, (are you sure Homer is selling calendars at Kwik-e-Mart? ) and just like I HAD to buy every available Stonecutter skin, I’m sure I’ll want the whole firefighter team. It’ll drive me crazy if I don’t. So why not just get them now? Why am I still typing? I gotta go to the store…

Plus I’ve become a fanatic about Homer skins. I must have 15 – 20 now. And he’s had a lot more free time lately. I love to just swipe the skin choices and let it spin until it it picks a random one. Holiday Homer hopping around town, strong man Homer piggybacking Burns, jumping the gorge, referee Homer bicycle kicking, cool Homer drinking a beer, the list goes on and on. In my opinion the more jobs the better.

Got them in both my premium and freemium games, although I have other premium skins for both (at least Mr. Plow and Stonecutter for Homer, and All-American Apu). The firemen set just wouldn’t be complete and also it gives me some variety over the year as to which costumes I use them in normally. Besides, I’ve been getting so many free donuts lately, it was quite easy to justify.

It’s a question of patience, without them, some players may take the whole two weeks, especially if you can’t tap every three hours, but as always, “I want it now” and I’m miles ahead, because as you said…..if you’re going to get them, do it sooner rather than later to get the benefit for the event …..and it IS a BIG benefit because you will triple your medal earning rate
Freemium: 2 characters earn 50 medals
Premium: 2 characters earn 50 medals + 2 characters earn 100
Also the pile-up works like an extra premium character giving another 100 medals every 3hours
But for players who can tap often enough to finish the event in two weeks, ……… save your donuts for something worthwhile.
(Unless you’re impulsive, and impatient, like me)
