Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
The Wild, Wild West is alive and well in our pocket-sized Springfields!

Loads and loads of stuff with this event…and it’ll last until late May. So TAKE YOUR TIME and Don’t Panic!

It’s live on Android and Kindle. If you don’t see it in your update list try directly searching the App, that’s what I had to do.
As always I’ll be back with more as soon as I play through a bit of it…for now know that it starts off with a 6s task for Lisa followed by a task to build the Town Plaza (Free, also takes 6s). This is then followed by 6s tasks for Apu and 3 Springfielders…Then you’ll need Homer free to start the next part (everything else Auto starts)..followed by more 6s tasks lol. Then you’ll have to build the General Store (also free), and the event itself will start up for you…
Also EA made a BUNCH of improvements to the game…we’ll cover those below as I uncover them myself…
First thing you’re going to notice…before anything else…is the look and feel of the game is a bit different. EA made some enhancements to the look of tasks and the character locator.

(Check mark on the character locator now indicates when the tasks are complete for that character..)
EA does explain it all in a popup…

Also, the little icon next to the tasks above indicates that it’s a visual task…nice improvement. (they must read this site 😉 )
New Land!
![]()
A new strip of land has been added at the very bottom of your Springfield (just below where the last strip was added). It runs from left to right, starting at the water.
As of right now you cannot place Dirt on the new land…an odd glitch.
Dirt and Dirt Roads!
Just like pavement, roads & water Dirt and Dirt roads are free! So build to your hearts content…

Dirt looks like this…
4 dirt tiles together….
Dirt Roads look like this…
4 tiles together…
Ok so now onto the event…
As I mentioned above just about all of the initial tasks take 6s. After you do the first task with Lisa you’ll then be required to build the Town Plaza

Then after several more tasks (all 6s) you’ll be asked to build the General Store

Building the store (which also takes 6s, shocking I know) is what will trigger the Event to launch in your game. So once you’ve built it you’ll see the event explanation screen popup, and your Springfield will change over to event mode…

As you can see Act 1 ends in 14 days…so you have until May 3rd to complete Act 1 (and earn the prizes) before Act 2 starts up…
There’s a little bit of everything with this update….item gathering for prizes, crafting, resource grinding…all stuff we should be familiar with these days 🙂
Let’s start with the basics…the new stuff in the store. Here’s a look at the new store offerings…

Yes we’ll have a Calendar…
Ok guys that you should get you through the first part…my iPod died and I have to go get Miss Riley.. (i still don’t see the update on Android as of this typing). So I’ll be back with more info after a certain little girl has gone to bed…in the meantime, play the questline! It’ll always guide you through everything you need to know 🙂 Now that a certain little girl has decided to go to bed I’m back to updating you guys…
General Store Exchange
After you’ve build the General Store and unlocked the event itself in your game you’ll unlock the ability to do General Store Exchanges. This works similar to the Monorail Event, where you collect resources by sending characters on tasks and turn those resources in for Prize Track Currency and other prizes…

As you can see you can exchange pick axes (and hats) for Clues…and the more you trade in the prizes that you see down below you’ll unlock. So by handing in two projects you’ll earn the rocks you see below.
Make sense? For those that were around for the Monorail, and still do the Rail Yard this will all be very familiar….
Bandits
Continuing to follow along with the questline, the next part you’ll unlock is Bandits….

You can earn more
by tapping on Bandits. Bandits will roam around your Springfield and they look like this…

Tapping Bandits will earn you
as well as
and the occasional Prospector…
(we’ll cover those in a minute). Remember
and
are used at the General Store to get more
and unlock other prizes. While
are used to unlock your Act 1 Prize track prizes.
In addition to tapping the Bandits roaming around your Springfield you’ll also be able to clear them from hideouts. To clear them from the hideouts, simply tap buildings with the
over them, in your town.

When you tap the
you’ll see them appear outside of the building, i’ve been finding 3-4 bandits per hideout. Simply tap them again to earn the crafting and prize currency.
Clearing Bandits will also upgrade the Plaza..

Upgrading the Plaza will unlock Town Plaza jobs for more characters…in this case Marge. (More characters that have Jobs at the Town Plaza, the more currency you’ll earn…) Upgrading the Plaza will also unlock more Bandits and other things, we’ll cover this completely in an upgrade post later on….
Prospectors

Again, following along with the questline…the next thing you’ll encounter is Prospectors. You can earn Prospectors via tapping Bandits, and you can send Prospectors to other towns to protect your Gold..

When you leave prospectors for your neighbors, they’ll be able to tap them in their own town. They’re actually pretty good..1 can be tapped multiple times. I got 24 pickaxes from 1 on 1 tap and could tap him again. I do not see a benefit to you just yet on them tapping or not tapping them.
So far it just looks like a nice thing to do for your neighbors…
Starting a Craze and Generating Resources…

So a little different with this is you can decide which crafting currency you want to earn from the Town Plaza.
Starting the Craze with Apu will earn you
and starting a craze with Homer will earn you
. Choose wisely because you can only do one at a time. So if you’re working with Apu and earning
, you won’t be able to earn
.
To start click on your town Plaza and start a Craze

And decide if you want
or ![]()

You’ll then be able to send other characters on 4hr tasks to earn the resources…

The characters are the same for both crafting currencies…Homer, Apu, Lurleen, Cletus, Marge, Bart, Buck & you’ll unlock more as you upgrade…(Gummy Joe, Moe, Krusty..)
Story Finales…
You’ll unlock these as you unlock more prizes. But here’s a quick overview…

We’ll cover this more in depth in another post…but basically every act will earn you an animated scene…the finales.
And that’s it my friends! The quick rundown details of the new Wild West Event!
What are your thoughts on the event? Excited about the prizes? Happy to finally have dirt roads?! What are you most looking forward to? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

I had to admit, I do like the new quest badges they’ve add, looks pretty helpful in the long run. They also removed the way to rush building tasks with donuts. Seems reasonable since, one, it’s useless by all means, and two, it’s very easy to tap the rushing button by mistake. (That is if you have the confirmed spending disabled). And lastly, thank goodness that we have the capability to rush tasks (that are in it’s final minutes) for free.
It’s nice they pulled it off buildings, no more accidental tapping it.
Ouuu nice!! I didn’t even notice that!
That right there is what I”m trying to figure out, I’ve seen that “free” icon show up a few times, but for me it just goes to the character, and then wants me to spend 2 donuts to stop the task, what am I doing wrong??
Does anyone else’s kids have a “throw garbage at Springfield elementary” 4 hour task? Good for squeaky voiced teen, as I don’t have the Aztec theatre. It’s coming up at the top of their tasks.
Is there a way to not play an event? My appreciation to all the activities EA has provided over the years, but I just want to build my regular Springfield this time, and not focus on event tasks. As always, thanks for your help!
Just ignore it completely. It won’t go away, but if you ignore it you won’t get any of the prizes. However bandits will still roam your town.
I guess you could just ignore the event tasks….I don’t think anything forces you to do them. But you might want to think twice about not playing the event…down the road, you might be sorry that you didn’t get those prizes and characters and such when you could. And there’s no reason that you can’t do a bit of both — play the event AND work on your regular tasks/town…
I tried to post this question earlier but I can’t seem to find it. Sorry if it’s a repeat!! I noticed after this update a change I how my inventory works. Is anyone else experiencing this? Mine no longer goes back to where I last left off – e.g. if I plant some trees, then decide to plant another type of tree, if I push the X to go back to the inventory, it takes me all the way back to the beginning (instead of back at the trees). Sorry if this confusing!! Just trying to figure out if this a glitch or permanent change. It’s driving me nuts!
Think that bug has been around for a few weeks now, saw others posting it before, and noticed it happening myself.
Ok thanks!! Uninstalling / reinstalling didn’t work so I’ll just wait for this and narobics to go away. 😑
I had really big plans for the dirt path, but it seems like every time I start to fill in an area with it it hits an item that can’t go on dirt 🙁
For example I have the old washing machine in front of Nelsons place but it can’t go on dirt. Perhaps the most annoying is the spooky glowing trees from THOH that are perfect for my desert area but can’t go on dirt!
Yeah, I’ve only played with it a little bit but kind of annoying where you can’t place it. I wanted to put some around Cletus’s but had the washer/dryer there, too, so couldn’t. 😐
Ya I feel bad for complaining about something we’ve all been asking for but you should be able to place whatever you want on either grass, concrete or dirt. It always annoys me when I’m trying to place concrete but it won’t let me because certain plants/trees/buildings aren’t coded for concrete. Now same with the dirt.
Looks like a fun event. Love the fact it’s a collection of methods used in previous events.
It’s all the same stuff…just recycled with different pictures lol
Anyone having issues placing new dirt road and dirt in the new land tiles released? I bought the new strip and it doesn’t show any grid lines either. Allows placement of buildings and decorations, just not road, dirt, water, etc..
Everyone. It’s a bug. Waiting on EA to fix it..
I don’t get it – how can you het a prospector out of your town? Thanks to all who will help
Just tap them…
So glad I have the next 3 days off work to do nothing but tap. It’ll come in handy in catching up since I worked all day today. Not happy that the reason I’m off is that I really messed up my foot at work and have to stay off of it for a bit. Silver linings I guess.
My WiFi turns off at 9:00Pm so going to have to wait til morning, when it turns back on, to see the update!
Annnnd I wish I didn’t just send everyone out on 12 hour jobs before seeing this. 🙁
How do I drop a prospector in a neighboring town?
As the post above explains…once you have them to drop simply visit the neighbor and tap the icon in the top right corner to drop them. Your neighbor can only have 10 in their town at once. So if it’s overrun you won’t be able to drop them. You’ll see a number on the icon in the top right indicating how many they can still have in their town..
i dont think u can put any type of road/pavement/etc. on the new strip of land which is kind of bizarre. they oughta fix that posthaste.
Sob! I accidentally sent Apu on a 7 days working task, I guess I would have to spend some donuts (I’ve been saving them for the brewery!) to release him. Cry
Just store the kwik e Mart and it’ll kick him out
I didn’t get a new strip of land at all. Did anyone else have this problem?
That’s odd…I for sure would contact EA on that one.
Yo, Lisa’s got a new task coming up: “Ride Princess!”
Looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. Been a while since I’ve been on the site, but as always all of you guys and your hard work keeping us informed and up to date is deeply appreciated. 🙂
Anybody else not like the change to the character icon in the top left corner ?? Now it forces you to free up completed jobs in order to find free characters. . .. . so you cant leave people trapped in jobs till a later time anymore. . . .. I liked it better to scroll through free characters WITHOUT HAVING TO TAP completed tasks and make them walk around my town. I liked leaving certain characters “tired” up in a job if I didn’t have time to put all my characters on a new job. A REAL PAIN that I HAVE to TAKE characters off jobs INSTEAD of leaving them there and JUST scroll through FREE characters to re-assign who I want !!!. . . . .. I don’t like EA making me free up completed tasks. . . . . I too CAN see big yellow thumbs and tap them when I want to. NOT HAPPY that I am Forced to free up people in order to use the top left corner icon !!!!!. . . . .sorry , can u tell I’m ranting and upset . . . . .lol. . .. . . .cant put groups of people on certain timed tasks ( all my 4 or 6 hour group jobs) like I used to – cause everyone gets freed up and is roaming at the same time!! . . . .. . .Really Unhappy !!!!!. . . . . . Don’t LIKE IT !!!!!. . . . ranting again !!!
Could just ignore the top corner icon and clear the buildings manually without it, just an idea.
If anyone’s wondering, Apu is selling dowsing rods in the animation. They’re a bogus way of finding water, gold, etc. that some people swear by, but it’s due to the “ideomotor effect,” same as an Ouija Board.
My father was a civil engineer and he occasionally used to use the dowsing rod to find water in order to drill boreholes. I remember visiting friends on a farm who had dug a couple of holes and not found water. My dad went for a walk with a willow twig and half an hour later told them where to dig. Spot on.
Unfortunately he didn’t ever find gold but it certainly worked for finding water. Every time. So whether due to ideomotor effect together with his knowledge of geology or something we don’t yet understand, it worked…
😄😄😄
Under test conditions, it never ever works. Your theory is much more probable: He has an intimate understanding of hydraulics, geology, topography, any number of subtle signs that his experience had taught him “probably water here,” which he then unconsciously used to dip the rod at the right spot. When filmed, dowsers readily show the subtle movements of body and and limb that are responsible for the movement of the rod, and they’ll almost always show a “positive” over whatever spot they already think is the right one; when they have no idea, they’ll come up blank.
Also, you have to compare correct hits (gold in this is here spot,) incorrect hits (no gold in that thar spot) and incorrect misses (thar’s gold, but y’all didn’t spot it.) Stuff like this is too susceptible to bias (for example, we tend to remember the times we got it right and forget or discount the times we got it wrong,) and absolutely requires thorough, well-designed and -controlled investigation and statistical analysis. “I tried it and it worked” (e.g., testimonial) is about the weakest (in the technical sense, not the judgmental sense) type of evidence there is.
[/lecture]
Im wicked confused…is there a way to specifically send Prospectors into my friends’ towns? And is there a benefit to tapping bandits in EVERY town, or am I cool to tap buildings once I stop getting axes/clues/whatever? And is there a benefit to continuing to trade items in when I can’t unlock the next prize until tomorrow?
In the pic of Lisa and her jobs, near the top right of this article, there are listed some jobs with a person-like symbol in the front end of the time needed to complete the job, like the Clean up Springfield job. What does that symbol mean?
It denotes an outdoor task.
I think that symbol indicates it’s an outdoor job.
Im wicked confused…is there a way to specifically send Prospectors into my friends’ towns? And is there a benefit to tapping bandits in EVERY town, or am I cool to tap buildings once I stop getting axes/clues/whatever?
I don’t think you can tap buildings in friends towns….
Just go to that friends town and drop prospectors.
I can tap buildings/vandalize; should I not be able to?? Ive never had the option before during an event, but I just started playing at the end of the Christmas 2015 event, so I havent experienced many of them…
I dont understand *how* to drop a Prospector – what specifically do I need to do to leave Prospectors for my friends? Or are Prospectors left for my friends when I tap on Bandits roaming their towns (in which case, yes, there’s a benefit to tapping Bandits (vs buildings) in my neighbors’ towns even once I stop earning currency)?
Also, I should continue to make trades at the General Store even after earning the Daily Prize, right? The Daily Prize is just a bonus while I continue to make as many trades as possible…?? Am I understanding that correctly?
(sorry about the duplicate/similar comments! *blush* I’d been trying to post this since late last night & my connection kept dropping out…since I didnt get a “hey, you already tried to post this comment, no duplicates allowed!” I assumed it hadnt gone through. please feel free to delete the extras! *hides under a chair* thanks for all your hard work on the Addicts sites!!! 😀 )
I’ll have to check if I can still tap buildings today, but I was still able to tap buildings yesterday in some of my neighbor’s towns. The towns I was able to drop prospectors in there was no option to tap building but in the towns I could tap buildings I did not have the option to drop prospectors. I think it might be connected with their progression in the event?
Oh, I finally figured it out – I can only drop Prospectors in some of my towns (seems to be about 50%-70% can have them)! I had a bunch of neighbors in a row that I couldn’t drop them into, which led to me not understanding HOW to do it! Once I came upon a neighbor that could get them, the icon appeared in the upper right of my screen, with varying numbers on it, depending on how many Prospectors were already running around their town. *phew* I’ve been feeling really stupid & like I was going crazy! lol I also hadn’t realized that Prospectors were ‘limited’ by…something (how many I’ve cleared from my town? by how many Bandits I’ve cleared? not sure…), so I was just tapppity-tap-tappin’ away – hope the neighbors I dropped 10 Prospectors on don’t mind! lol
Now, just a little while ago, I got a popup in my town, telling me something like ‘daveelation has helped you by clearing Prospectors from your town!’ But when I’ve tried to tap Prospectors in my neighbors towns, nothing seems to happen. Am I supposed to be able to tap them in my neighbors’ areas?
(This also has me confused, as it would seem having Prospectors to clear from your own town would be a good thing, right?? So you can gather Clues, etc? Do they do something negative if they’re there too long, kinda like how Cletus’ Farm will have the plants wilt if they sit too long?? Why would we want neighbors to remove our Prospectors?)
Ohhhh that’s why the number of prospectors you can drop changes from neighbor to neighbor. However if you look on the bottom left you can see how many prospectors YOU can drop while the top right is the amount that can be dropped in that neighbor’s town? I think. Maybe.
You don’t tap prospectors in your neighbor’s towns, just the ones they leave in your town. But when they clear the prospectors that you leave you get pick axes or clues. I don’t think there’s anything negative that can happen, I only wish I knew who left me prospectors so I know who to give more prospectors to when I visit.
If you look closely when you tap the prospectors, you’ll see the name of the person who left them for you float up in a light white text.
It’s like 50/50 when it decides to show me who actually dropped prospectors :/
You can only drop prospectors in neighbor’s towns if a) they’ve started the event (or gotten far enough into it), and b) aren’t already full-up on prospectors. If you don’t see a icon in the upper right, then they probably aren’t in the event yet; if you see an icon and it says “0,” then they don’t have any more room. (That counter in the upper right shows how many prospectors you can drop in their town, which is limited by how many they already have in their town and by how many prospectors you have left to drop.)
When you drop prospectors in someone’s town, you’re hoping that that person will tap on them before they “expire,” because then you’ll get a reward when then do. (So, if you know one of your neighbors is in a different time zone, you may want to account for that when you decide when drop a prospector on them.) When you find prospectors running around in your town (literally – they’re the one of the three event “characters” that runs around and ducks into houses), then you want to tap on it because it will yield goodies for you and help your neighbor, too.
Does that help? 🙂
So, I was really liking and enjoying this update then found out my eat questionable fugu task wasn’t there I have not done Akita and have been sending everyone on a 60min. Premium mission to eat questionable fugu , is it a glitch , do you think it will be fixed after event of is it permanent?
Thanks 🙂
Most likely…it should come back.
Yes the horse was placed
Ummm gonna probably be a dumb question, but just how does this “free” task work, I’ve seen it show up on my taskbook, click it, it goes to the character to be freed, doesn’t free them, have to click them again and it then costs donuts? What am I doing wrong?
Nothing. It’s just telling you the task is done…
Oh based on other people’s comments I understood it was a, you can speed up the last two minutes for free without spending donuts if that pops up. Couldn’t seem to figure that out
No i’m pretty sure it indicates visual…Clean Up Springfield is 6s and has that on it for Lisa in the image above…
Think we are talking about two different things, not the run icon, there was another icon that showed up saying “free”. Had it yesterday and never thought to screenshot it. When I clicked it, it suggested something about speeding up the task for free, but it went to the character, and I had to click them again, didn’t automatically speed it up. Then to speed it up it wanted donuts, wasn’t “Free”
oh…sorry reading too many of the same comment
It’s all good figured we got mixed messages somewhere along the line, it happens. But yeah, I can’t seem to figure out that “feature” it says free, but then asks for donuts to speed it up, I’m doing something wrong obviously.
Honestly i’ve yet to come across it in my game. So it’s hard for me to discuss without having seen it.
Got it to work today, but not via the taskbar quests, only by the top left corner icon, or clicking the respective building a character is in, and it says “free”, got that to work at least 😀
Nope – it’s not based on the number of minutes (as in, always the last 2 minutes), it seems to be based on percentage of time. I think it’s the last 10% that’s free….I just did an experiment by sending CBG to Lard Lad for a 5-minute task…it became free to rush it at the 30-second mark.
OH OH OH ONE MORE THING… NO CRAFTING!!!!! 😀 😀 (so far?? D: )
I will be some days without having the chance to upgrade my game…
Will I lose some prize? In particular.. I see that there’re “daily” challenges.. Will I be still able to get day 1 prizes in 5 days from now?
Probably. It’ll just depend on how much you play once you do the upgrade…
Throw trash at Springfield Elementary…possible Easter Egg??!!
On part 8 of once upon a time in Springfield it says to earn both day 1 prizes in the general store. I earned the rock before part 8 started and earned the horse during part 8. It is only registering that I have earned one. Any suggestions how to progress?
Did you place the horse?
Yes
Yes the horse was placed
Contact EA. It’s going around with a couple of people…
I have the same issue… Horse is placed… Hope it gets fixed soon…..
EA has really done a great job with this last update overall. I especially like the improvements they’ve made that aren’t necessarily to do with the update. But do you think if we all asked pretty please, they could create just plain ol’ sand/dirt tiles – the size of roads and cement and boardwalks, but no grass or tiles around the dirt. I saw that possibility mentioned during the Las Vegas event and got all excited and in fact set up my Las Vegas leaving space around it for some desert. A little dab of dirt in the middle of a square of grass does not a desert make. So how about it? It’s obvious EA has magic making folks working away night and day, could they maybe provide us with some desert? Pleeeeeeze? Then I’ll never ask for anything again. 🙂
Some stuff is kind of annoying. I noticed a big yellow box around the task required for Gummy Joe’s storyline. Seems pretty unnecessary and looks very amateur. The yellow highlighted letters worked just fine, why change it? Are us Tappers really so dumb that we need yellow lines surrounding story-advancing tasks to realize that they are the ones we need to complete?
What do you mean? Put the dirt tiles next to each other and they connect… Desert right there! No grass surrounding them as near as I can see.
