YeeHaw, The Wild West is Live!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Wild, Wild West is alive and well in our pocket-sized Springfields!

2016-04-19 15.46.51

Loads and loads of stuff with this event…and it’ll last until late May.  So TAKE YOUR TIME and Don’t Panic!

2016-04-19 15.44.45

It’s live on Android and Kindle.  If you don’t see it in your update list try directly searching the App, that’s what I had to do.

As always I’ll be back with more as soon as I play through a bit of it…for now know that it starts off with a 6s task for Lisa followed by a task to build the Town Plaza (Free, also takes 6s).  This is then followed by 6s tasks for Apu and 3 Springfielders…Then you’ll need Homer free to start the next part (everything else Auto starts)..followed by more 6s tasks lol.   Then you’ll have to build the General Store (also free), and the event itself will start up for you…

Also EA made a BUNCH of improvements to the game…we’ll cover those below as I uncover them myself…

First thing you’re going to notice…before anything else…is the look and feel of the game is a bit different.  EA made some enhancements to the look of tasks and the character locator.

2016-04-19 15.52.212016-04-19 15.52.21 (1) (Check mark on the character locator now indicates when the tasks are complete for that character..)

EA does explain it all in a popup…

2016-04-19 15.52.53

Also, the little icon next to the tasks above indicates that it’s a visual task…nice improvement.  (they must read this site 😉 )

New Land!

Landexpansionicon

A new strip of land has been added at the very bottom of your Springfield (just below where the last strip was added).  It runs from left to right, starting at the water.

As of right now you cannot place Dirt on the new land…an odd glitch.

Dirt and Dirt Roads!

Just like pavement, roads & water Dirt and Dirt roads are free! So build to your hearts content…

2016-04-19 15.55.26

Dirt looks like this…

2016-04-19 15.55.36 4 dirt tiles together….

Dirt Roads look like this…

2016-04-19 15.55.45 4 tiles together…

Ok so now onto the event…

As I mentioned above just about all of the initial tasks take 6s.  After you do the first task with Lisa you’ll then be required to build the Town Plaza

2016-04-19 15.53.47

Then after several more tasks (all 6s) you’ll be asked to build the General Store

2016-04-19 15.58.41

Building the store (which also takes 6s, shocking I know) is what will trigger the Event to launch in your game.  So once you’ve built it you’ll see the event explanation screen popup, and your Springfield will change over to event mode…

2016-04-19 15.58.55

As you can see Act 1 ends in 14 days…so you have until May 3rd to complete Act 1 (and earn the prizes) before Act 2 starts up…

There’s a little bit of everything with this update….item gathering for prizes, crafting, resource grinding…all stuff we should be familiar with these days 🙂

Let’s start with the basics…the new stuff in the store.  Here’s a look at the new store offerings…

Yes we’ll have a Calendar…

Ok guys that you should get you through the first part…my iPod died and I have to go get Miss Riley.. (i still don’t see the update on Android as of this typing).  So I’ll be back with more info after a certain little girl has gone to bed…in the meantime, play the questline!  It’ll always guide you through everything you need to know 🙂 Now that a certain little girl has decided to go to bed I’m back to updating you guys…

General Store Exchange

After you’ve build the General Store and unlocked the event itself in your game you’ll unlock the ability to do General Store Exchanges. This works similar to the Monorail Event, where you collect resources by sending characters on tasks and turn those resources in for Prize Track Currency and other prizes…

2016-04-19 18.46.34

As you can see you can exchange pick axes (and hats) for Clues…and the more you trade in the prizes that you see down below you’ll unlock.  So by handing in two projects you’ll earn the rocks you see below.

Make sense?  For those that were around for the Monorail, and still do the Rail Yard this will all be very familiar….

Bandits

Continuing to follow along with the questline, the next part you’ll unlock is Bandits….

2016-04-19 20.41.54

You can earn more ico_wildwest_clue_md by tapping on Bandits.  Bandits will roam around your Springfield and they look like this…

bandit02 bandit01

Tapping Bandits will earn you ico_wildwest_clue_md as well as ico_wildwest_pickaxe_md ico_wildwest_cowboyhat_md and the occasional Prospector…ico_wildwest_treasurehunterprospecter (we’ll cover those in a minute).  Remember ico_wildwest_pickaxe_md and ico_wildwest_cowboyhat_md are used at the General Store to get more ico_wildwest_clue_md and unlock other prizes.  While ico_wildwest_clue_md are used to unlock your Act 1 Prize track prizes.

In addition to tapping the Bandits roaming around your Springfield you’ll also be able to clear them from hideouts.  To clear them from the hideouts, simply tap buildings with the indicator_wildwest_bandit. over them, in your town.

2016-04-19 20.44.58

When you tap the indicator_wildwest_bandit. you’ll see them appear outside of the building, i’ve been finding 3-4 bandits per hideout.  Simply tap them again to earn the crafting and prize currency.

Clearing Bandits will also upgrade the Plaza..

2016-04-19 20.49.34

Upgrading the Plaza will unlock Town Plaza jobs for more characters…in this case Marge. (More characters that have Jobs at the Town Plaza, the more currency you’ll earn…)  Upgrading the Plaza will also unlock more Bandits and other things, we’ll cover this completely in an upgrade post later on….

Prospectors

ico_wildwest_treasurehunter_topright

Again, following along with the questline…the next thing you’ll encounter is Prospectors.  You can earn Prospectors via tapping Bandits, and you can send Prospectors to other towns to protect your Gold..

treasurehunter_front_walkprospecter

When you leave prospectors for your neighbors, they’ll be able to tap them in their own town.  They’re actually pretty good..1 can be tapped multiple times.  I got 24 pickaxes from 1 on 1 tap and could tap him again.  I do not see a benefit to you just yet on them tapping or not tapping them.

So far it just looks like a nice thing to do for your neighbors…

Starting a Craze and Generating Resources…

townplaza01_menu

So a little different with this is you can decide which crafting currency you want to earn from the Town Plaza.

Starting the Craze with Apu will earn you ico_wildwest_pickaxe_md and starting a craze with Homer will earn you ico_wildwest_cowboyhat_md.  Choose wisely because you can only do one at a time.  So if you’re working with Apu and earning ico_wildwest_pickaxe_md, you won’t be able to earn ico_wildwest_cowboyhat_md.

To start click on your town Plaza and start a Craze

2016-04-19 20.49.34

And decide if you want ico_wildwest_cowboyhat_md or ico_wildwest_pickaxe_md

2016-04-19 20.59.44

You’ll then be able to send other characters on 4hr tasks to earn the resources…

2016-04-19 20.59.54 2016-04-19 21.00.00 2016-04-19 21.00.24 2016-04-19 21.00.29

The characters are the same for both crafting currencies…Homer, Apu, Lurleen, Cletus, Marge, Bart, Buck & you’ll unlock more as you upgrade…(Gummy Joe, Moe, Krusty..)

Story Finales…

You’ll unlock these as you unlock more prizes. But here’s a quick overview…

2016-04-19 18.45.55 2016-04-19 18.46.07

We’ll cover this more in depth in another post…but basically every act will earn you an animated scene…the finales.

And that’s it my friends!  The quick rundown details of the new Wild West Event!

What are your thoughts on the event?  Excited about the prizes?  Happy to finally have dirt roads?!  What are you most looking forward to?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. All Righty Ya’ll. The Wild Wild West is in full effect and I’m going bazonko. I don’t care if that is a word, it is the only word that fits my total manic state of pleasure at this event. I don’t know if it’s because of the dirt…or Homer throwing himself off the balcony of the Saloon…or catching a bandit looking like he was aiming ready to take shot at my cat-a-pult. This is just THE MOST AWESOME EVENT EVER.

First, thank you to all my neighboreeno’s…..I know at least a few of you will see this…I’ve been having a blast chasing and trying to send you all back prospectors. I saw a few friends were a bit late to the starting line so I tried to load you up if you had the space available. Special thanks Stephie and Sandra.

Also….as inept as I am when it comes to all things techy or digital, or electric for that matter…I finally looked up how to take a screenshot. So I’ve posted a few shots on flickr. If you are there (Lee….) take a look and feel free to comment. I LOVE CRITICISM. Seriously, I do. I want all your ideas to steal for myself! MUAHHHHAHAHAHAHA! (Wait, does evil laugh go with this event? Hum….maybe…not.) So, in that case – STICK ‘EM UP! or Better Yet…SPIT ‘EM OUT! At this point I’m losing myself, I digress.

This event is like sippin’ moonshine in the hills of E. Kentucky on a starry night listnen’ to Papa Billy play the banjo.

(Don’t say anything about Papa Billy ya’ll. I DO have a Papa Billy….although I do not believe he plays the banjo…nor is he a moonshine sippin Kentucky redneck. He is a retired Southern Baptist Reverend from Hale Center, TX…MUCH DIFFERENT. His drink of choice is buttermilk.)

    Nope, not pullin’ yur leg.

So I am trying desperately not to stuff my Old West Springfield with items before I have a chance to earn the prizes from the event. I quite literally spent the entire day messin’ around looking for things that I thought would add to my motif. As of right now I moved the Old Simpson Farm, Springfield Farmer’s Market, the Spooky Campfire, Burn’s Slant Oil, and some of the side pieces of the Tetunus Terminal (monorail).

What has everyone bought? I refuse to buy the cactus when they didn’t even let us use the old cactus – – – that already looks like it’s growing in sand. Maybe if they were 5 a piece, but not 15 for a decoration.

I did get the quicksand for 45 because I just can’t get over the animation when you tap on it and the guy in the sand tips his hat an’ pulls his arm out to get his hat. I put it by Shotgun Pete’s with a wooden hot tub and spooky shack that to look like a little Wild West one-stop wedding & honeymooner’s camp ground.

Pics are in flickr, like I said. I hope all of you are having fun. I see a lot of questions, which I guess happens at the beginning of any event. Overall, EA did a fabulous job, I think. With the event and the game updates.

Just two small things, super small, why can we not place the campfires on the dirt or the spooky trees? Two decorations that seems just MADE for going in the dirt. What safer place for fire? And dead creepy trees? Really? Can only be placed on lush green grass? How is that right? You are limiting my creative juices here dudes (*gender neutral*).

Speaking of monorail (I know I did somewhere up there) – I already have 54,229 blueprints for this weeks donuts! Killin’ it! Nope, 55,345.

Thanks Icgorilla for the prospector….oh yes….I’m tapping and typing.

    Shoot ‘Em Up Ya’ll!

Okay, gotta go send out some prospectors!

  2. Will there be a “Should I Buy” on the premium items?

  3. Does anyone else have Merry makers wandering around their town? I’m also getting friend points for actions and Friends towns but I am maxed out thinking it’s a glitch wondering if the merrymakers wandering around are too.

  4. Not sure if this is related to the in-game update, but I just made another trade and am now at over 5200 clues. Got a message that the General Store is out of clues for the day and to come back tomorrow to make more exchanges. I have a countdown timer to 4am EST and can’t make another exchange for another 9hr 56min. So similar to when the Monorail event was running, you can only do so many exchanges each day.

  5. I’m still hearing a noise that sounds like something in game growling . Have heard it several times when I visit other friends Springfield’s , and I have heard it a few times now in my Springfield . Is anyone else hearing it?

    • I think its to let you know that there is a prospect in your town. The same sound was used back at Halloween with the blue globs….

    • It is the sound effect they used in THOH event when friends dropped the purple goo monsters in your town. I guess since the prospectors are based on that model, they accidentally included the sound effect as well.

    • I am. I think it means there are bandits (or prospectors?) there. Pretty sure it got answered somewhere else, but I forget where so I can’t be sure that I’m remembering correctly . :/

  6. I downloaded the update but when I start the game, the “downloading updates” counter just keeps resetting until I get the Bart screen. At first I thought it was my connection, but as it turns out this happens no matter what connection I use. Is anybody else having this issue?

By the way, the addicts app has stopped working for me for good, I don’t even get the notifications anymore. I hope you can get it sorted out soon 🙂

  7. Juan Arrospidegaray

I haven’t played this since december… i was thinking to join again… but i just don’t like this tipes of events…they remind me of the F****** monorrail event…
    Did i missed something important?

  8. I’m getting -634 picaxes on my daily quest is anyone else and yes I am getting fo and I’m also maxed

  9. Is anyone getting FP (friend points) for tapping on bandits in friends’ towns? But I’m still on the max level for FP (level 20), wondering if it’s a glitch.

  10. Just wondering if you all think it’s a good time to buy Lurleen? Freemium player, but have stockpiled a lot of bonuts lately. the should I buy says a maybe, but wondering if since she helps with this event if that bumps her to a must buy?

    • To me a character that you didn’t want before an event, that helps with an event never moves the needle on whether or not to buy them. If you were on the fence this would tip you over, but if you had no interest in Lurleen before the event…it’s not worth it. Once the event is over she still goes back to her regular ways 🙂

    • In my opinion, you should never buy a character just because it helps with a specific, limited-time event. However, if it’s a character you’ve been wanting anyway and figured on getting some day, then the fact that it will help with the event you’re doing might be a reason to buy it now, rather than a little while down the road.

If you play regularly (say, every 4 hours during waking hours), you shouldn’t ever *need* a premium character to complete the event with all of the prizes.

    • I’ve been on the fence about this one. From what I hear, she’s a great premium in general, with multiple quest lines and good visual tasks, etc. But I feel like if I do get her, she will immediately get some insane rebate deal. I swear I’ve become some sort of paranoid weirdo on this. I have plenty of donuts, but my track record with TSTO timing is bad. I nuke my town and spend hours rebuilding it; there’s an update a few days later that lets you move whole areas. I compile a huge list of visual tasks, which took me like a thousand yeas, and within a week or so they do the update with the icons next to visual tasks. ARGH. So I guess I’m just going to hoard donuts forever. Did you decide to go for it?

  11. I’m not liking the new version of the character locater. It won’t scroll past someone if there job is done. So like if I wanted to leave someone on a job because tapping them would also collect from 3 or 4 buildings, and I like leaving things for neighbors to tap, I can’t get past them to go to the next person

    • Yep, HATING that aspect. In an event like this I put away the IRS, put everyone on indoor tasks, and then leave them there so I can see the bandits, but this RUINS that plan that had worked so well.

    • Unless I’m mistaken, I think you could go to Springfield Town Hall and “go to” your characters that way, avoiding those you didn’t want to free. Second idea, turn off the IRS building. Even if you have upgraded to Level 9, you can “downgrade” it (but I really don’t know if this decreases your taping radius or not). Just ideas to help you with your methods. Hope something works.

I just love how much faster it helps me get through clearing my tasks and then I also don’t leave people in Springfield Heights or doing something in some far corner of my Springfield that I don’t see roving around trying to hit them by chance.

    • I agree.
I like to be able to leave people and not have to reassign jobs to every single character each day; too time consuming (especially if I’m playing at work)

  12. I am suddenly much sadder than I was five minutes ago. I just discovered that my cactus patches (from the Monorail event? or thereabouts?) can’t be placed on dirt.

    • I have a suggestion for you (which is what I did) if you place a small patch of grass on the dirt (just a small tile so it doesn’t look noticeable) you can then place the cactus patch on the grass.
(which will look like it is on the dirt) 🙂
I placed the dirt first, then I pressed the yellow arrow icon (next to Bart and Milhouse icon) clicked on the dirt where I wanted to place the cactus patch, pressed the rubbish bin icon and the grass patch was JUST the right size for my Cactus Patch (from the past event where I got it from-When we got Sideshow Bob)
      hope that helps 🙂

  13. How do you know if you have a prospector in your town?

  14. I’m curious what you’re strategy is for earning the daily prizes. Usually I save up to turn in a single task with the biggest pay off in clues. The prizes are awarded by number of trades made not by number of clues. Also does a daily prize be lost if it isn’t completed the day it unlocks?

  15. I am not seeing the new land referenced in this post.. similarly, I didn’t notice a change during the casino event.. any help/insight is greatly appreciated (including a link if this has been previously covered that I’m not seeing) .. thanks much!

    • There’s a heading in this post very near the top where it says…in bold letters…New Land!
      It says….

      New Land!

A new strip of land has been added at the very bottom of your Springfield (just below where the last strip was added). It runs from left to right, starting at the water.

As of right now you cannot place Dirt on the new land…an odd glitch.

    • I’m not seeing the new land in my town. How do I get this strip of land?

      • Go to your menu and land icon. You can jump to it fast in the movement menu as it shows the grids of available land both in Heights and Springfield area

        • Thank you! I had assumed the strip of land was free and added but it looks like I still have to pay. Thank you for the assistance!

          • Only FREE land I’ve ever seen was starting spaces. All the rest you gotta buy. 😉

Watch the URL (see my email) or it’ll still catch you. 😉

  16. What is the spawn rate of the bandits and hideouts and also what is the maximum capacity of both?

  17. Hello adicts, i’ve a question, hoping you can help me, its about general store exchanges.

I’ve complete the exchange for today (the wood fence), but i can do more. If i make more exchanges i will lost the count for tomorrow? Or thats acumulative?

  18. You also seem to be able to rush the majority of tasks for free.

  19. Any idea what the “speeding silhouette” icon before some jobs means?

  20. Did the Easter banner on the green hedge come back for anyone else?

  21. If you don’t spot a prospector that a friend has left before you exit eg go into the friendship screen, does the prospector disappear for good? I saw one a second too late and now I can’t find him. Also, once you have the daily prize, is it better to hold off swapping your resources until the next day or keep using the resources up? Thanks

  22. I haven’t seen this one yet, so I’ll ask…in the general store, there’s prizes marked day 3 but they are “locked”, is the best bet to save all our materials until the prize becomes unlocked…and then do the smallest tasks (i.e., whatever one that uses the least materials) to fill out the X/4 required tasks…? Or, am I missing something? Can you unlocked the “locked” prizes for day 3 NOW by doing a certain number of tasks…or are these designed to space things out? And, any sesne at all in doing these tasks in the general store while the rest of the prizes for doing days are locked…or just save save save?

    • My personal strategy is build up and turn over…

    • I’ve been completing trades to make the day’s worth of tasks and then stopping and saving…I figure it’s the safer strategy – I don’t have to worry about making tomorrow’s tasks and I’ll have time later to spend down any excess I’ve accumulated. However, if the excess ever grows to an “excessive” amount (or if the calendar comes out and I start to feel like I’m behind on the Act prize track), then I might do some more trading.

I don’t know if I’m doing it the “right” way, but that’s what I’m doing for now, until I see some compelling reason to change my strategy.

  23. I’ve a goldrush daily task to collect hats. I thought that I should be close so clicked on the icon to see that I was -114/100. Now, maths may not be my strong point, but…..
If I earn hats it reduces the negative figure, but I have no idea where it started!!!! Anyone else? Time to contact EA 🙂

  24. There is a 4 hour job for kids that says ‘Throw garbage at Springfield school’ ( or words to that effect). Is that an Easter egg? Just wondering. I haven’t tried it yet. My kids characters are on jobs right now.

    • Unless there’s more to it than just sending kids to do and complete that task, I’d say it’s not an Easter egg. I just collected a whole bunch of kids from that task (which the Unemployment Office had sent them on, without my realizing it, when I chose the 4-hour tasks for everyone), and I didn’t get any donuts are anything.

  25. I cannot open neighbor towns. I’ve done all but uninstall/reinstall. I cannot progress without dropping prospectors. . grrr

  26. This morning’s daily bonus task has ne collecting 200 pickaxes, I was about 48 short of 200 and then ran out of bandits to catch. When I went back in after a task, the counter is showing -478. And when I catch a bandit, the counter makes the negative number secrease ie – 472. I am now supposed to collect over 600 pickaxes to get my rewaed of a whopping 64?

  27. Im wicked confused…is there a way to specifically send Prospectors into my friends’ towns? And is there a benefit to tapping bandits in EVERY town, or am I cool to tap buildings once I stop getting axes/clues/whatever?

Also, should I continue to trade items at the store once Ive gotten the daily prize? Is the daily prize just a bonus?

    • Wondering the same thing about bandits vs buildings once you’ve received the max event currency for the day. Seems like it would help neighbors more to tap buildings at that point, right?

  28. Happy with the dirt roads, but in the spirit of always having to nag about something; too bad they didn’t include a wooden bridge or a shallow crossing to build over water.

  29. So not sure if this has been always happening or if its just now and it’s a glitch, but when tasks are nearly over you can speed them up for free. I had 30 mins left in the 8 hours tasks and I was able to speed them all up for free.

  30. Anyone else having bugs? It says I’m -32/200 for the daily quest.. it says i can send two people to drink for a quest, i goto them, they don’t highlights yellow nor did it give me credit for sending them to drink 8h as for the quest…
