Hey Howdy Hey Tappers! We’ve got a fun new feature for you here on Addicts, and this comes to us from a comment regular, Safi! Safi came to us with an idea for a fun poll challenge to run over the Summer. A Bracket Challenge to find the ultimate character we’d like to see in TSTO.
And I LOVE this idea! I’ve been wanting to do a bracket challenge for awhile now, but just haven’t had the time to put it all together. So Safi’s been hard at work putting together all of the details and structure for this challenge…and we think it came out great!
So enjoy the journey over the summer as we crown the Addicts Most Desired Character!
Without further ado…here’s Safi:
How much longer EA can keep Tapped Out going is up for debate. But what isn’t debatable is that there are plenty of characters in the rich history of The Simpsons universe still not in our little game. From Homer’s college mates to his look-a-likes, from Bart’s crushes to Lisa’s idols, from four-eyed friends to four-legged pets, there is plenty of ‘untapped’ potential (pun intended). But which character do we really want?
We present to you the TSTO Addicts: Most Desired Character Bracket Battle…..
Below you’ll find 64 beloved characters/character combos we believe would bring a smile to your face, have great tasks, could make for an awesome event, or simply be a nice idea for a new Friends Point prize.
The characters have been organized into eight thematic conferences and will battle each other in six rounds of head-to-head match-ups, that we hope produces the most debate in the comments below. We’ll do our best to convince you of each character’s merits, but it’s ultimately up to you.
Every Friday or Saturday over summer (From Alissa: It’s going to come down to what’s going on in the game as to whether this gets posted on a Friday or Saturday), we’ll post that week’s match-ups and your votes will determine which characters advance to the next round, until we’ve crowned “The Most Desired Character(s)” on Friday September 2nd.

Quickly, some general housekeeping rules and guidelines:
– The expanded landscape of The Simpsons means there are numerous characters that could have made the bracket, but ultimately just fell short.
– The selected 64 characters’/character combos have been divided into eight conferences: Men, Boys, Pets, Combos, Doppelgangers, One Hit Wonders, Girls, and Women.
– The characters were selected and have been pre-seeded 1 to 8 in each of the conferences based on the preferences of the selector and may differ from your choices.
– Characters voiced by the late Phil Hartmann such as Troy McClure, Lionel Hutz, and Lyle Lanley have not been included, as they are unlikely to enter the game (despite the fact that some of you will argue that Phil Hartmann-voiced Johnny Tightlips is in our game).
– All characters, including pets and doppelgangers, are assumed to be independent playable characters; no NPC.
– Combo characters are assumed to be one character like Sherri & Terri and Patches & Poor Violet
– Weekly matchups will be posted on Friday or Saturday and voting will remain open until noon EDT the following Thursday, except for the final two rounds where voting will be extended by one week.
– The schedule of matchups is as follows:
oWeek 1 (Today) – The 1 vs 8 matchup in all eight conferences
oWeek 2– The 2 vs 7 matchup in all eight conferences
oWeek 3 – The 3 vs 6 matchup in all eight conferences
oWeek 4 – The 4 vs 5 matchup in all eight conferences
oWeek 5 – The first conference semi-final in all eight conferences
oWeek 6 – The second conference semi-final in all eight conferences
oWeek 7 – The finals in all eight conferences
o Week 8– The Quarter Finals
o Week 9 – The Semi Finals (voting open for two weeks)
o Friday August 19th – The Championship Finals (voting open for two weeks)
o Friday September 2nd – The winner is unveiled
– Should any of the characters be released into our game over the summer, they will be replaced by the character they most recently defeated (or be replaced altogether by a new character if it happens before their round 1 match-up).

I love Carl. He is one of my most memorable characters. I loved the episode where homer got hair I hope ea mAkes him a character 🙂
I completely agree. I was thinking about that episode/character the other day.
If the final bracket isn’t bleeding gums vs mr sparkle, you all need to be revoked of your tapping licenses.
Mr. Sparkle will never make out to the finals.
How has Rabbi Krustofski not already been introduced into the game? So many random characters made it before him.
Had to vote for Furious George just bevause the name is so funny.
Also, Mr. Bergstrom is a musy have. Amazing episode with him and Lisa.
Also, how ea hasnt used younger versions of all the characters is a mystery. I want a homer skn with hair and grampa from the flying hellfish. Hell, i want all the flying hellfish. They could make a mini event with them and some ww2 props like the gravestone with all the keys and spotlight.
Not sure if you’ll see this, Alissa (since it’s Saturday), but thanks for all of your work converting Safi’s work over to this site! I know it must have taken you a lot of time (which you don’t have an abundance of), but I think it was really worth it. Thanks!!

This is a PHENOMENAL idea. Shame that we have to wait a full week for the next one! I love all the stats you’ve provided and even the “Ask the Expert” (which I only read after voting). A sheer masterpiece, people!
I really wish they would do Phil Hartman’s characters. Make them premium and have all the money either go to his kids or a charity of their choising. Not using them seems more insulting to his memory.
Other than that this looks like a fun summer diversion, although most of my picks are losing.
Groening permanently retired his characters in respect to him as he didn’t want anyone replacing him. If they brought his characters back mute (as some have suggested) that would just seem more disrespectful since his voice was signature. If they had any intention of bringing his characters back we probably would have got Lyle Lanley during the Monorail event.

Too many great choices. He barely missed the cut unfortunately.
I chose Joey Jo-Jo Jr Shabadoo over Tall Guy, cause come on, with the best name in the show name, Joey Jo-Jo Jr Shabadoo had to make the bracket. I did get Tall Guy in a potential event though based on the 22 Short Stories with Lovejoy’s Sheepdog. Tall Guy is one of my favourite One Hit Wonders (Technically I guess I could quantify him as my 9th favourite One Hit Wonder).
Also, I don’t have any neighbours with usernames TallGuy, but I do have a neighbour with username jjjjrshabado.
Great idea and great post! Some of the choices were easy in this round but a few were hard, going to be some difficult choices as the rounds progress!
Dont even know who some of these characters are. Who would possibly want Lester and Eliza? They were justt there for a gag.
The character i really want is LIONEL HUTZ! He would have been way better than the wise guy for level 60

Fun Bracket! This really does show the game is running out of new characters. Some of these I really don’t remember.
I’m not sure how Mr. Sparkle is a character. I guess he could be a big floating head or something.
Another possible character is the doctor that operated on Santas little helper when his stomach got twisted. The one that through the hamster through the basketball hoop, I always loved that episode.

But (SPOILER ALERT) I did mention him in an upcoming Tale of the Tape potential TSTO event. You’ll have to check back next week to see who I said he could be released with and in what kind of event.

Please don’t lynch me, but as someone who has watched very little of the Simpsons, the ‘Tale of the Tape’ aspect of this is essential as I would otherwise have no clue as to ‘Who’s Who in the Zoo’!

Fantastic Safi, I’m already excited for next weeks vote. Great post, really grabs the imagination. And well done Alissa, that kind of formatting in word press is a nightmare at times. It’s not the most user friendly interface on the planet, I’m sure you curse it out often.

It’s all fun and games until one or more of these characters get introduced before the contest is finished and “ruins” the outcome. Lol.
I agreed with most of the seedlings and can see where I disagrees, that that is where others tended to, by some degree, too.
A lot has probably to do with when I last watched The Simpsons, as well as certain random nostalgia over some characters.
There’s a contingency in the rules as to what happens if one of them is brought into the game before it’s over
I see that now. Annoyed grunt.
It’s clear to see, with these characters, some of which are listed in twos and threes, as well as the countless others not yet mentioned, as well as those to come in the next few years that this game has so much scope to keep going and going for years to come. Never mind skin releases etc.
It will be interested to see who the most coveted character winds up being. 🙂

Safi GREAT JOB, I hope Alissa showed you my 96 character grid for inspiration. I couldn’t figure out how to configure it, Brilliant Job, including the possible event feature. And the amount of effort you put into this. I want to bow and say “I’m not worthy, I’m not worthy”. 🙂

No, I didn’t see your character grid. Would love to see it. Hardest part of this was narrowing it down to 64 characters.
I actually started this two summers ago, mentioned it in a Sunday Open Thread way back then, but then got a job the next week and didn’t have time to follow through. It was initially a 128 character bracket and Even included every character released from level 42 to 60. With the end of levels though, this is definitely a much better time to do it. I got rid of several conferences including the real life male celebrity conference (Darryl Strawberry, Ron Howard, Mel Brooks, etc.), real life female celebrity conference (Bette Middler, Britney Spears, etc), historical figures conference (George Bush, Gerald Ford, Albert Einstein, etc), mascots conference (Wal-e-Weasel, Smilin Joe Fission, Menthol Moose, etc). I think starting with 64 and limiting it to 6 rounds is a better idea. All those extra characters would not make it past the quarterfinals anyways. I have a strong suspicion it’s going to come down to one of a dozen or so strong contenders anyways.
Who do you think is gonna win it all?
