Superheroes Sequel 101: Issue 1 Battle Strategy

Hey Tappers….Safi asked if he could help out with some Superheroes posts and suggested that maybe he could do a Battle Strategy post.  I thought it was a great idea…so here’s Safi’s take on battle strategy for Issue 1.. Enjoy!

Hey Battle Strategists!

In a follow-up to “Superheroes Sequel 101: Issue 1 Battles” I’m going to delve into some basic strategy of these battles. In order to understand the strategy, it’s important you know the basics of battles in general. So be sure to read that first post before reading this. I’ll wait until you’re done reading…

Still waiting

Done reading that post? Good, now that you the basics of battling, we’re going to cover basic strategy so you know how to win battles (both felon and social battles) and how to maximize knuckles (felon battles only). There will be a few different scenarios I have included to illustrate things as well.

We’ll break down this post into three parts: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advance.

felon_techm_attack_image_29

 BEGINNER

First thing, always remember which fighter type has an advantage over another fighter type:

ico_superheroes2_fightertype01 Brawn has an advantage overico_superheroes2_fightertype02 Brains

ico_superheroes2_fightertype02 Brain has an advantage over ico_superheroes2_fightertype03 Tech

ico_superheroes2_fightertype03 Tech has an advantage over ico_superheroes2_fightertype01 Brawn

What this advantage means is that the character will do more damage to the weaker character (2 hearts in 1 shot).  In return the character with the weaker defense will lose 2 hearts with 1 shot.

Secondly, when you’re selecting your team to go into a felon battle or social battle, take a look at the top of the battle box for the Fighter Roster. You’ll fight the characters in the order in which they appear at the top from left to right. As well, the first character you select will be the one that leads the battle for your team.

2016-06-15 19.57.24

So in the scenario above, your team will face a Tech fighter Meg Ahertz first, a Brawn fighter Testost-Irene second, and finish with another Brawn fighter Gluteus third. Also, in the scenario above, you’ve chosen a Brain fighter in Dr. Colossus to lead the battle for your team.

As mentioned in that basic post, because you’re facing off against a Tech first, Brawn second, and Brawn third; your ideal team to counter is a Brain first, Tech second, and Tech third. Why?

Your Brain will have an advantage over their Tech.

Your Tech will have an advantage over their Brawn.

Your Tech will have an advantage over their Brawn.

The order is pretty important and can win you a lot of battles simply by matching up your roster so you always have an advantage over your opponents roster.

Now let’s get into some mathematics. We know that there are 3 options for what fighter type the first opponent can be (either Brawn, Brain, or Tech). Likewise, there are 3 options for what the second opponent can be. And finally, there are also the same 3 options for what the third opponent can be. Taking 3 x 3 x 3, we get 27 different fighter type permutations we might face over the course of the event.

So for those who are really overwhelmed by how to choose team members, below is a table showing all 27 permutations of Fighter Rosters you may encounter, along with the fighter types for the ideal team you should put together to beat them (in a lot of cases).

Superheroes Beginner Battle Strategy

Again, for beginners, if you follow the table above, without worrying about switching players or healing them, you’ll win a lot of your felon battles and social battles. To get that win percentage even higher or perfect, keep reading.

INTERMEDIATE

After you’ve seen the fighter types of the opposing roster, another thing to look at is their life line (number of hearts). If you’ve chosen the correct fighter type, even if you have lower life line, you stand a good chance of winning, as you get to attack first and your advantage will do more damage to their character.

This is because it is important to understand the order of who gets to attack when.

  • You get to attack first at the start of every battle.
  • Once you’ve attacked, if you didn’t kill the opponent’s character, the opponent gets a turn to counter attack you.
  • After your opponent counter attacks, it’s again your turn to attack.
  • If you kill an opponent’s character on your attack, when the opponent’s new character appears, you again get to attack first.
  • If your character gets killed by your opponent on their counter attack turn, your new character gets to attack first.
  • If it’s your turn and you use Science Water, you still get to attack.
  • If it’s your turn and you switch characters, you forfeit your attack, and its your opponents turn to counter attack.

So in the early stages for beginners with the bare minimum characters, you may face off against an opponent with only one heart. If that is the case, it doesn’t matter which fighter type you choose as any fighter type will kill a one heart character.

So if the opponents roster is made up of a 1 heart Tech, 1 heart Brawn, and 2 heart Brain, the table in the Beginner section above says your roster should be made up of a Brain, then Tech, then Brawn. But knowing what we just covered about order of attacks, you could win this battle with just a 1 heart Brawn leading alone.  This is explained below:

The battle starts with your 1 heart Brawn (note: all your characters should start with at least 2 hearts, but for sake of example I’ll use 1 heart) taking on their 1 heart Tech. You get first move.

First move: 1 heart Brawn at a disadvantage would still deal 1 damage to 1 heart Tech.

1 heart tech dies. 1 heart Brawn comes in for opponent. Still your move.

Second move: 1 heart Brawn deals 1 damage against 1 heart Brawn.

1 heart Brawn dies. 2 heart Brain comes in for opponent. Still your move.

Third move: 1 heart Brawn at an advantage deals 2 damage to 2 heart Brain.

2 heart Brain dies.

In the example above, you just won without a single hit against you. Those who stopped reading at the Beginner part would have won too. But they would have been dealt at least 1 heart damage.

Let’s illustrate the importance of order in a scenario:

Pic01 Page05

In this scenario, we’re taking on a 2 heart Brawn, 3 heart Brawn, and a 2 heart Tech. This is a beginner account and only has access to the four characters re-introduced for all new players who were not part of Superheroes 1.

If you look at the Beginner table, the ideal team to defeat a Brawn/Brawn/Tech roster is a team made up of Tech/Tech/Brain. All new players only have one Tech character, so we’ve gone Tech/Brain and left the third spot empty. [Note I left the third spot empty because I was sure I can win with just the two; but if you’re not sure, just put any character in the third spot to possibly help increase your chances of winning]

Pic02 Page05

My Clownface will lead things off and has Tech advantage over Brawn. He’ll deal 2 damage, killing our opponents 2 heart Brain.

Pic03 Page06

Because we killed our opponent’s character, it will remain our turn to attack when their second character comes.

Pic04 Page06

We again have Tech advantage over Brawn, and inflict 2 damage to their 3 heart Brawn.

Pic05 Page07

Their 3 heart Brawn will counter attack with 1 damage, as Brawn is at a disadvantage to our Tech.

Pic06 Page07

Our Clownface then delivers another 2 damage attack, which is enough to kill their 3 heart Brawn.

Pic07 Page08

With their 3 heart Brawn killed, their last 2 heart Tech comes in. Since we just killed their character, it will again be our turn.

Pic08 Page08

Here we are at the critical junction and have two options: we can attack with Clownface or we can switch to Fallout Boy.

Pic09 Page09

Given that we only have 4 characters and I’ll be back in an hour for my next attack, we’re going to switch to Fallout Boy. This gives us the advantage of Brain over Tech, but it sacrifices our turn. Their 2 heart Tech counter attacks and deals one damage.

Pic10 Page09

Now Fallout Boy can use the Brain over Tech advantage and deal the 2 damage fatal blow.

Pic11 Page10

In this scenario, both characters only lost one health and will heal in one hour. However, if we wouldn’t be online in an hour, attacking rather than switching might have been a better option at the critical junction.

Pic12 Page10

If we had attacked instead of switched at the critical junction (pictured above again), a Tech versus Tech neutral matchup would only deal 1 damage, and Clownface would have been killed on the counter attack. That would bring in Fallout Boy who would deal the winning blow for our team.

In this outcome, Clownface would need 2 hours to recover his 2 hearts, but Fallout Boy would be in full health along with the two characters we didn’t use.

While most regularly active players can wait for the healing time to elapse, there are alternatives to waiting. Here is a list of all the ways you can heal your characters:

  • One heart will heal for every hour elapsed between battles.
  • A Band Aid will heal one heart, and can only be used between battles.
  • A Science Water will heal two hearts, and can only be used during battles.
  • Best time to upgrade your character using gems is between battles, as the upgrade will automatically heal your character and give them their extra heart (so you essentially heal without consuming Science Water or Band Aids and can use the character again).

In the previous illustrated scenario, we were taking on weak opponents with a weak team. This gave us the option to both attack or switch at the critical junction. However, sometimes we have to face strong opponents with a weak team; where switching will actually hinder your chances of winning.

Knowing that you will get attacked if you switch characters, it can be a strategic advantage to leave a weaker player with just one heart remaining in to absorb the hit and die rather than switching them out for another player and having them lose a heart right away.

Let’s go through a scenario together to illustrate this.

Pic13 Page11

Our opponent’s team includes a 4 heart Brawn, a 4 heart Brain, and a 4 heart Tech. Our team as you can see only has 2 heart characters. But we know that given the right advantage, our players can do double damage. As the table in the Beginner section shows, best counter to a Brawn/Brain/Tech roster is Tech/Brawn/Brain.

Pic14 Page12

So that’s what we do, we have our 2 heart Tech (Fruit-Bat-Man), 2 heart Brawn (Radioactive Man), and 2 heart Brain (Fallout Boy). We know the Tech has advantage over Brawn and will immediately do 2 damage and only take 1 in return on the counter attack.

Pic15 Page12

So now on our subsequent attack, Fruit-Bat-Man again deals 2 damage and kills their 4 heart Tech guy.

Pic16 Page13

Having killed their 4 heart Tech guy, we now face their 4 heart Brain guy. But it’s still our turn. If we were to switch right now, we would sacrifice our attacking turn and be at a significant disadvantage fighting a 4 heart Brain with just a 1 heart Brawn, as Radioactive Man would immediately lose one health on the counter attack. So we’ll strategically keep Fruit-Bat-Man in and attack. The counter attack will kill Fruit-Bat-Man.

Pic17 Page13

We can now bring in our 2 heart Brawn who has advantage over their 4 heart Brain (who already lost a heart to Fruit-Bat-Man).

Pic18 Page14

We know Brawn has advantage over Brain, so Radioactive Man deals 2 damage and takes 1 in the counter attack. On the subsequent attack, Radioactive Man kills their 4 heart Brain.

Pic19 Page14

Again, having killed their 4 heart Brain guy, we now face their 4 heart Tech gal. But it’s still our turn. If we were to switch right now, we would sacrifice our attacking turn and be at a significant disadvantage fighting a 4 heart Tech with just a 1 heart Brain, as Fallout Boy would immediately lose a heart on the counter attack. So we’ll strategically keep Radioactive Man in and attack. The counter attack will kill Radioactive Man.

Pic21 Page15

With Radioactive Man dead, Fallout Boy comes in and has Brain’s advantage over their Tech gal. His attack deals 2 damage and he takes one hit in the counter attack.

Pic20 Page15

With one heart left each, Fallout Boy launches the final attack. With 4 hours until the next set of Fighter Rosters is ready, we have ample time for healing. Fruit-Bat-Man and Radioactive will require 2 hours for healing while Fallout Boy will require just 1 hour. If I still have felon battles waiting to be fought, I can come back in two hours and use these three characters again without spending a Donut, Band Aid or Science Water.

When it comes to upgrading characters, various strategies will work. You need to use the gems (which you get from winning battles) to upgrade characters.

The best strategy in my opinion for upgrading is to pick one Brawn, one Brain, and one Tech, and level them each up to level 3, then level 4, and finally level 5. The reason for this is explained in the Advance section.

Using the Beginner and Intermediate strategies together, you should be undefeated in felon and social battles. However, are you more interested in wins or in event currency? Continue reading Advance strategy to maximize your event currency. You’ll also want to refrain from upgrading all your characters to help with the Advance strategy.

ADVANCED

For those who either have characters from last year or have purchased Premium characters this year, there is a way to maximize event currency at the price of your win-loss record.

This is just based on the flaw in the payout system of battling Felons in your town.

–          If you win, you get 350 knuckles.

–          If you lose, you get 55 knuckles, along with another opportunity to attack and get the 350 knuckles.

Therefore, to really progress in the prize track, it is best to lose as many times as you can. This will give you 55 knuckles each time you lose. And then eventually complete the battle and get another 350 knuckles.

Personal analogy:

In my case, I have one Brawn, one Brain, and one Tech character at 5 hearts each. All my other characters I have kept at 2 hearts each. As a result of my three 5 heart characters, my felon battles are always against rosters made of three 5 heart characters.

But rather than win these battles right away on my first attempt (which I could easily do using the Beginner and Intermediate strategies above); I lose as many times as I can, which happens to be 12 losses per battle, before winning the battle on my 13thattempt. The bonus remains the same when I take out 15 hearts in 1 attempt versus the sum of bonuses over 13 attempts.

Those who are undefeated, if you win the three felon battles earning 350 knuckles, you’re getting 1,050 knuckles for those three battles. Using this method of losing 12 times at 55 knuckles and winning 350 knuckles on the 13th attempt, over the same three felon battles I’m earning 3,030 knuckles (288% of the original 1,050).

Now depending on how many characters you have, and what fighter types you need in order to lose your battle, you may not be able to do a full 13 attempts in the same 4 hours. But still, this method will get you much further ahead in the prize track.

I was initially 32-0 combined in felon and social battles, before I picked up on this method yesterday. Under 72 hours into the event, I could be 51-0 with under 25,000 knuckles. But instead I’m 51-44 with over 27,000 knuckles (thanks to an extra 2,420 knuckles from 44 loses in felon battle over the past 24 hours).

My losses are really starting to pick up as I now have the method down. I anticipate I should hopefully be able to incur 80 losses a day with the current character set I have (I don’t have all the premium characters or any of the premium items).

Unlocking all the prizes in this act is practically inevitable. So 80 losses a day comes out to nearly an extra bonut every other day compared to those who win every battle.

Again, this only works in Felon Battles, not in Social Battles. While you can still do this with all your characters upgraded to 5 hearts, it’s a lot easier to lose if you have 2 or 3 heart characters.

CONCLUSION

And that my friends…I hope…completes the explanation on Superheroes 2 Battle Strategy! (I should have warned you it was long…)

With this much information, it’s a lot to take in in one sitting. I recommend re-reading this post a couple times to get the most out of it.

What are your thoughts on the battle strategies?  How’s your record so far?  Were you quick to figure it out, or still working through it?  Which, if any, of the aforementioned strategies were helpful or will you use?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Safi,
I was successful with the Beginner and Intermediate strategies, as you outlined above (thank you!), but wasn’t able to replicate the Advanced strategy. My fighters were defeated, but did not immediately recover for another attempt. Just the usual 3-4 hour recovery times to heal – had to use bandages. (I have two 3-heart characters and two 4-heart characters.) Did I miss something? Or, has EA maybe fixed the ‘losing strategy’ loophole?
    Thanks!

    • Jim, be sure to scroll down in the comments and check out my comment from: “Safi | June 18, 2016 at 2:09 am | Reply” The 2:09am time is EDT, so adjust accordingly. It is an extremely long comment, about the size of this post. Spent 2 hours writing it, but it explains the method completely.

All my characters are 2 hearts, so I can check back every two hours to lose. If yours are 3 and 4 hearts, you’ll only be able to lose every 4 hours. But still, you can get an extra 55 knuckles for every 3 and 4 heart character you have simply by collecting the usual 1,050 knuckles for 3 victories every 4 hours followed by sending all your 3 and 4 heart characters to die in battle 1 at a time. When you come back four hours later, they’ll all be healed and you just repeat.

  2. Safi – I have another follow-up question for you… Once I have reached my 12 felon group limit, do I have to go into maintenance phase? If I can take out the previous 9 groups without losing one of my fighters (because the 9 I have are so weakened now), is there any reason I shouldn’t do so, then use the most recent 3 felon groups to take out all of my fighters (which might be doable), then go back to building up to 12 again?

I hope you could follow what I just said…not sure whether I’ve expressed myself clearly.

    • You can definitely win more than 3 battles and leave less than 9 teams. The reason I recommend a loading phase is so that all your characters have options to lose fight. If you only have three felon teams and have 13 characters, chances are you won’t be able to lose 13 battles. I wouldn’t recommend leaving less than six felon teams to avoid that happening.

      • But the problem is that most (all?) of the felon teams I have milling about from previous fights don’t have enough strength left to beat any of my “fresh” fighters. So I’m thinking that I might just go ahead and perpetually be in a loading phase…always making sure to kill off all of my fighters, if possible, and only killing off residual fighters when I can do so without losing the ability of my fighter to “lose” to a fresher felon group. Do you see what I’m saying? If so, is there any downside to that?

It would be different if you could send in a “damaged” fighter to fight in another battle…I wish it was structured that way. (So, for example, if you finished a fight with, say, Pie Man still have two out of his four hearts left, you could send him into another battle to fight with the two hearts he has left.) But you can’t do that, so the heavily damaged felon groups aren’t of much use other than to kill off and take the win, right?

  3. Thanks Safi

Would never have realised that losing a battle still allowed you to fight those felons again and again until they are beaten!

Follow your advanced strategy to a degree…

I only fight every four hours so I lose as much as possible that still allows for three victories at the end. Early indications are that I can lose around 7-9 times before winning 3 times. That way I increase the currency earned without having those ‘fists’ walking around town all the time…

Might try keeping those fists around for an hour or two longer this evening to see how I cope…
    😄😄😄

    • Fortunately, the “fists” stay in the vicinity of the alley and my alley is in a corner of my developed land, so I don’t mind them too much (although they do make tapping the felons milling about in that area rather difficult).

    • If you’ve done the loading phase and have more than half a dozen felon teams roaming your streets, then when you start playing, get your three victories first like everyone else for 1,050 knuckles. After that, kill off all your 2 heart, 3 heart and 4 heart characters one at a time for 55 knuckles per character/battle loss. When you come back in four hours you can repeat as all those 2/3/4 heart characters will have healed in 4 hours.

  4. Is there a limit to how many felon groups you may have in your town?

  5. Thank you for the thorough breakdown! I had been using the intermediate method and was undefeated. So I hadn’t even considered what would happen if I had lost. It is amazing how much quicker it is to collect currency with your advanced method. I have most of the characters, so I can intentionally lose quite a few battles and still defeat everyone. Thanks again!

  6. So I just timed a round at 6:45. Not messing around, just selecting and playing the fights. Nothing else accomplished. Figure an average of 4.5 times a day for 40 days, that will be about 20 hours of my life spent doing something I don’t enjoy. So boring. There is no way I can justify spending any more time than that on an “Advanced” strategy. I’ll be fine without the donuts, I’m 1,000 away from Aqua World, haven’t spent any donuts rushing or buying prizes, have all characters at 3* and 2 at 4*. Time is money and I can justify my boatloads easier than I can the time spent not enjoying something when I have a job and a family I enjoy very much. When I spend “extra” time on TSTO it’s working on the build/design/layout process. I enjoy that immensely. IMMENSELY.

  7. So, I don’t think it’s going to be possible to stay caught up with the felon battles in other towns. I fight in the morning, wait for the heal, fight again, wait for another heal, and fight for the third and last time.

The next morning, I’m ready to start again, but I can’t. I can’t start my next round of fighting until late afternoon, at the time I finished my last battle the day before. So there is a 12 hour delay that will start to add up over the course of the event unless I pay for band aids.

    • It is 24 hours from your when you start your first battle.

Lets say you wake up and play at 8am. Yesterday you started your first social battle at 8:03am. If you go to any neighbour at 8:02am today, you will still see 0 as a full 24 hours have not elapsed (only 23hr 59min have). If you go back to the same town at 8:04am though, you’ll see 3 battles now (as 24hr 01min have elapsed). Now if you wake up same 8am tomorrow, you will have to wait a full 24 hours from today’s 8:04am, which probably means an 8:05am start at the earliest. As each day gets pushed back at least a minute, a month from now even if you keep playing at 8am, you’ll probably see 0 until past 8:30am.

Myself, on Tuesday I did my first battle at 9:15pm, second and third around midnight and 10am next day. Wednesday I did my first battle 9:20pm, second and third around 9:25pm and midnight. Thursday I did my first battle at 9:45pm, second and third around 9:50pm and midnight. Last night Friday, I did my first battle at 9:46pm, second and third around 9:50pm and midnight. As we speak, its 9:55pm and I’m doing my 13th battle as 24 hours have elapsed since my first battle yesterday.

You have to wait exactly 24hr 00min 00sec from whence your first battle began in the previous 24 hour period.

As for Band Aids, you don’t need to use them. I am patient enough and, while unemployed, play frequently enough to come back in four hours. If you aren’t, once you have your third character after your 10th battle, you can collect all three battles in just one sitting. Send one character at a time to fight the battles. You’ll lose all three, but who cares? Prizes are awarded for participating in fights, not winning them. This way even if you just check in once every 24 hours, you have a chance at even the last prize.

      • Thanks. Maybe there’s hope after all. I’m doing OK on the regular prize track, but the felon prizes seem harder with fewer characters available to fight.

  8. roxicathegreat

Has anyone had a fight that they won trigger a loss? I won the fight but it said I lost and gave me the loss payouts. I can’t refight the battle and if I look at my characters not a single one of them was defeated (down to zero hearts) It also shows as a loss in my record

    • Yes! I was hoping someone else had the same problem and would post.(that sounded better in my head) Anyhoo, I had a perfect score, ended my last battle, and the screen got all hincky, kinda froze. Next thing I know I’m getting the “you lose” music and only 10 stones. Yeah, I was bumbed. But then I read Alissa’s Strategy post and figured no big deal.

    • But, yes, I couldn’t replay the fight either. That was the kicker.

  9. I’m a level 105 Springifelder. Have been playing constantly over the last 2 years. This update is so stupid I’ve just about stopped playing. Way to go EA. Let’s see if I come back in 40 days when this crap is over.
AT LEAST MAKE THE EVENTS ORIGINAL. CHILI COOK OFF WAS A MINI AND THIS RERUN IS A FULL 45 DAYS. STUPID!

    • You can’t please everyone….and they never do. I’m sure events you loved others hated. It’s what happens when you have millions of people playing. We’re not all mindless drones that think alike 😉

    • santasLTLtapper

      Sorry mike

  10. Keith1Roon991

Was thinking it would be better in the battle if you could swap characters as soon as they win there fight, would save some time in healing

  11. I only just discovered it’s ok to lose! I wasn’t actually looking at the knuckles, I was trying to get more finite gems. Losing three times per battle then winning gives 30 more gems.

  12. Well, I made a very hard but right choice here. After making my first loss, destroying my perfect win record, I decided to partake in the “Losing” strategy. I know losing a lot will make my no-longer-perfect-win-record worst, but it’s for the best when it comes to efficiency. I guess you can clearly say that “Failure IS The Option” if you want to get the most out of life. Speaking of this method, I don’t know if Tap Ball did the exact same thing when it comes to progress.

If there’s one thing I worry about the “Losing” method is that EA may implement a cooldown for the felons. Say, I battle with group felon A, I lost the battle, group A now has a cooldown for at least one hour, meaning I can’t continue the battle with them for now. Group felon B and C are available to fight in the meantime, just not A until the cooldown is complete. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens because I can feel it’s bound to happen anytime soon.

  13. Thank you. I never actually considered “losing” as a strategy. But it makes sense if you are looking for extra knuckles. Here I thought I was rocking it. lol. I also noticed that they have removed ANY neighbor stats for this event. That seems unusual. oh well 🙂

    • If you click on the event hub (trophy next to visiting friends icon), the fourth tab should show your record. My event hub even now is still showing 12-0-0.

If you click on the friends icon, and then the medal for leaderboard, you should see your number of battles with blue and red indicating win and loss record, along with all your neighbours. I still am showing 9 of my neighbours have already completed 12 battles.

      • Yeah, I saw them. I was talking more like the Gold Knuckle, Comic Card and Bottle count. We can usually see them in the Neighbors Screen. Not in this event, though. j/s 🙂

  14. Thank you, great info. I have all freemium characters and Bartman from the last event and focused on upgrading three characters of each color to five stars first. So i am using parts of the losing strategy now, great tip!

For now, i am simply going into battle with single characters, instead of teams of three. I make sure to use up all characters, but still be able to win the battles with last remaining ones. In each four hour cycle, i gain about 7 addidional currencies from losing like that, but still finish all three battles and do not have to come back between the four hour cycles, which would be too much of a bother for me.

    • I’m doing it this way too now. With the previous characters I had, I had not lost a single battle until reading this. Now I’m losing and earning currency so much faster. I still finish them off though as coming back between the 4 hours wouldn’t work for me either. I never thought I love losing so much!

  15. Thank you, Safi!
Clever insights, great details, and clear examples. Fantastic job!! Thanks for sharing…

  16. Ok, so the answer to the question many of you have been asking, how do I actually execute my Advanced strategy?

First off, just to give you an idea of how many wins and loss I’ve gotten, I previously had 42 wins and 44 losses when the post was last finalized early this morning around 8am EDT. The record in the post of 51-44 included my 9-0 social felon record. As of right now, 12am midnight EDT, I have a felon battle record of 44-84, to go along with my 12-0 social record (again, Advanced strategy of losing doesn’t work in social battles). So in 16 hours, I’ve won 2 felon battles and lost 40; while not playing the ideal every 2 hours, due to my brother-in-laws graduation ceremony. At 8am, I had 3 sets of felons roaming my city. Right now, I have 9 sets of felons roaming my city.

Another frequent question was about Band Aids. I got all the losses without using a single Band Aid. I could have had more losses had I used Band Aids. I’m just collecting them now, but will use them all towards the end of the event to maximize losses.

One more frequent question was where 12 losses before victory on the 13th attempt came from. This will clear using the examples below. But just quickly, if you are facing a team of 5 heart/5 heart/5 heart, with the right match-up (or should I say with the perfect wrong match-up) you can lose 4 times against each opponent character for 12 losses before killing them in the 13th battle. This will be very clear in the examples below.

    ——

Now onto my characters. I have the following 11 characters:

    5 Hearts
    Brawn – 1) Pie Man
    Brain – 1) Dr. Colossus
    Tech – 1) The Collider

    2 Hearts
    Brawn – 1) Bartman, 2) Radioactive Man
Brain – 1) Fallout Boy, 2) The Collector
    Tech – 1) Clownface, 2) Fruit-Bat-Man, 3) Citizen Solar, 4) Wind Lad

    ——

Now onto how I play them. As most of you are asking for more details, I’ll give you hypothetical scenarios of how I execute this strategy.

Let me preface this by saying when you click on your Orphan Alley, 3 felon teams are generated roaming your town. If you haven’t defeated them, when you click on Orphan Alley four hours later, you’ll have 6 felon teams roaming your city. As per Alissa’s post, you can have up to 12 felon teams roaming your city.

So initially, I have a 12 hour “loading phase” where I’m building up to 12 felon teams and not getting the 350 knuckles for wins, though I am getting 55 knuckles for many losses over this time (56 losses with 8 characters without using any Band Aids in my case). Once I reach the max 12 felon teams roaming my city in the 12 hour “loading phase”, I will enter the “maintenance phase”. In this phase, every four hours your goal is to get 3 victories (to make room for the next set of 3 felons) and twice as many losses as the 2 heart characters you have. I have eight 2 heart characters right now. So in the “maintenance phase”, I’m currently looking at 3 victories and 16 losses every four hours. If I get all 15 characters eventually, and keep 12 at 2 hearts, I’m looking at 3 victories and 24 losses every four hours. 24 x 55 means I could be earning an extra 1,320 knuckles every 4 hours. So the post was incorrect in it’s calculation of 288%, and should be 226% taking 4 hour limits and healing time into account, but still a bonut every other day. [I’ve been working through the Advance strategy past few days; so at the time of writing the post, I was still working out the kinks.]

    ——

    LOADING PHASE:

Let’s say I won all my battles and went to sleep with 0 felon teams roaming my city (which is probably how you were before you started losing). I wake up at 8am and have 3 felon teams generated when I click on Orphan Alley. Because I have three 5 heart characters, one of each fighter type; the game generates felon fighting rosters composed of either three 5 heart felons or two 5 heart and a 4 heart felon to oppose me.

    8am Team 1: 5 heart Tech, 5 heart Tech, 4 heart Brain
    8am Team 2: 5 heart Brain, 5 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn
    8am Team 3: 5 heart Brawn, 5 heart Brain, 5 heart Tech

My goal is to have all 8 of my 2 heart characters lose a battle each so I get 55 knuckles for 8 battles at 8am.

I go back to the Beginner basics of knowing which fighter type has advantage over which type. But I want to lose. So instead of saying advantage, I’m looking at disadvantage. I know Brain has disadvantage against Brawn (opposite of Brawn advantage over Brain); Tech has disadvantage against Brain (opposite of Brain has advantage over Tech); and Brawn has disadvantage against Tech (opposite of Tech has advantage over Brawn).

8 am Battle 1 – My 2 heart Brawn Bartman only vs Team 1 – I do 1 damage to 5 heart Tech, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Bartman for 2 hours. Team 1 now 4 heart Tech, 5 heart Tech, 4 heart Brain.
8 am Battle 2 – My 2 star Brawn Radioactive Man only vs Team 1 – I do 1 damage to now 4 heart Tech, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Radioactive Man for 2 hours. Team 1 now 3 heart Tech, 5 heart Tech, 4 heart Brain.
8 am Battle 3 – My 2 star Brain Fallout Boy only vs Team 3 – I do 1 damage to 5 heart Brawn, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Fallout Boy for 2 hours. Team 3 now 4 heart Brawn, 5 heart Brain, 5 heart Tech.
8 am Battle 4 – My 2 star Brain The Collector only vs Team 3 – I do 1 damage to now 4 heart Brawn, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing The Collector for 2 hours. Team 3 now 3 heart Brawn, 5 heart Brain, 5 heart Tech.
8am Battle 5 – My 2 star Tech Clownface only vs Team 2 – I do 1 damage to 5 heart Brain, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Clownface for 2 hours. Team 2 now 4 heart Brain, 5 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn.
8am Battle 6 – My 2 star Tech Fruit-Bat-Man only vs Team 2 – I do 1 damage to now 4 heart Brain, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Fruit-Bat-Man for 2 hours. Team 2 now 3 heart Brain, 5 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn.
8am Battle 7 – My 2 star Tech Citizen Solar only vs Team 2 – I do 1 damage to now 3 heart Brain, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Citizen Solar for 2 hours. Team 2 now 2 heart Brain, 5 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn.
8am Battle 8 – My 2 star Tech Wind Lad only vs Team 2 – I do 1 damage to now 2 heart Brain, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Wind Lad for 2 hours. Team 2 now 1 heart Brain, 5 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn.

Now I go have some semblance of a real life and come back in 2 hours once my players have healed.

    10am Team 1: 3 heart Tech, 5 heart Tech, 4 heart Brain
    10am Team 2: 1 heart Brain, 5 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn
    10am Team 3: 3 heart Brawn, 5 heart Brain, 5 heart Tech

Again, my goal is to have all 8 of my 2 heart characters lose a battle each so I get 55 knuckles for 8 battles at 10am.

10 am Battle 1 – My 2 heart Brawn Bartman only vs Team 1 – I do 1 damage to 3 heart Tech, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Bartman for 2 hours. Team 1 now 2 heart Tech, 5 heart Tech, 4 heart Brain.
10 am Battle 2 – My 2 star Brawn Radioactive Man only vs Team 1 – I do 1 damage to now 2 heart Tech, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Radioactive Man for 2 hours. Team 1 now 1 heart Tech, 5 heart Tech, 4 heart Brain.
10 am Battle 3 – My 2 star Brain Fallout Boy only vs Team 3 – I do 1 damage to 3 heart Brawn, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Fallout Boy for 2 hours. Team 3 now 2 heart Brawn, 5 heart Brain, 5 heart Tech.
10 am Battle 4 – My 2 star Brain The Collector only vs Team 3 – I do 1 damage to now 2 heart Brawn, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing The Collector for 2 hours. Team 3 now 1 heart Brawn, 5 heart Brain, 5 heart Tech.
10am Battle 5 – My 2 star Tech Clownface only vs Team 2 – I do 1 damage to kill 1 heart Brain, again my attack turn, I do 1 more damage to their second character 5 heart brain, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Clownface for 2 hours. Team 2 now 4 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn.
10am Battle 6 – My 2 star Tech Fruit-Bat-Man only vs Team 2 – I do 1 damage to now 4 heart Brain, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Fruit-Bat-Man for 2 hours. Team 2 now 3 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn.
10am Battle 7 – My 2 star Tech Citizen Solar only vs Team 2 – I do 1 damage to now 3 heart Brain, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Citizen Solar for 2 hours. Team 2 now 2 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn.
10am Battle 8 – My 2 star Tech Wind Lad only vs Team 2 – I do 1 damage to now 2 heart Brain, and they counter attack for 2 damage killing Wind Lad for 2 hours. Team 2 now 1 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn.

Now I go have some more semblance of a real life and come back in 2 hours once my players have healed. Orphan Alley is now also ready and releases three more teams.

    12pm Team 1: 1 heart Tech, 5 heart Tech, 4 heart Brain
    12pm Team 2: 1 heart Brain, 4 heart Brawn
    12pm Team 3: 1 heart Brawn, 5 heart Brain, 5 heart Tech
    12pm Team 4
    12pm Team 5
    12pm Team 6

Again, my goal at is to have all 8 of my 2 heart characters lose a battle each so I get 55 knuckles for 8 battles at 12pm versus 6 teams.

Same 8 losses at 2pm versus 6 teams.

Same 8 losses at 4pm, but now versus 9 teams.

Same 8 losses at 6pm versus 9 teams.

Same 8 losses at 8pm, but now versus 12 teams.

    ——

    MAINTENANCE PHASE:

Now at 10pm, I want to get the same 8 losses. But the difference is that at 12am, Orphan Alley will generate 3 new felon teams and I’m already maxed out with 12 teams roaming my city. So in addition to 8 losses from my 8 characters, I need to use my three 5 heart characters (Pie Man, Dr. Colossus, and The Collider) to win 3 battles. This should be quite easy as over the past 12 hours, those losses have probably left most teams as easy wins with few hearts left.

So now in the maintenance phase, I continue with 8 losses every two hours but throw in 3 wins every four hours before Orphan Alley spawns 3 new felon teams. So that’s 16 (2 x 8) losses and 3 wins every 4 hours with 8 characters. The more 2 heart characters you have, the more losses you can get with; with twice as many losses as 2 heart characters.

    ——

I started writing this comment at midnight and it’s now past 2am EDT, which can only mean two things. 1) it’s been two hours, time to get 8 more losses. 2) I’m … (fill in any synonym for crazy, insane, psycho, etc)

    • Woohoo, unlocked the fifth prize 2 heart Brawn Cyborg Snake. So now 9 losses every 2 hours for me!

      So that’s 18 (2 x 9) losses and 3 wins for 2,040 knuckles every 4 hours with 9 characters. An extra 990 knuckles every 4 hours!

      • How can you lose that much and still have your characters regenerated in time to get your wins? I’ve been racking up a few losses, but, to make sure I get my wins, I haven’t berth ankle to figure out how I can lose more.

        • Apologies…had I read just two more sentences, I would have seen my answer. My bad!

Now that I see that you don’t have to defeat the the felon groups within the four hours to get more felons, I can already begin to understand you’re original numbers. Back to reading your content to see all of the wonderful details you’ve been so generous to share with us!

Who da man? You da man!

(See – I’m remembering your gender now, lol!)

      • I just got Cyborg Snake too, but I have only flawless victories. I understand what you’re saying about losses now, but I don’t understand how you can clear them so quickly in “maintenance mode” without draining bandaids or the drink stuff. I’ve had it build up to 9 felons and it took a lot of effort to clear them again. Either way, it sounds like the “losing” strategy is just too much effort… I’ll stick to clearing felons every 4 hours and be done with it!

        • You can clear them quickly/easily because you’ve weakened them significantly during the losing battles. (This might not work if you only have a very few fighters, but, if you were around for the first Superheroes event, it shouldn’t be difficult.)

    • I haven’t finished reading your comment yet, but, before I forget it, I have a question about something you say early on… How do you have 9 sets of felons in your town?? I thought you can’t get another set until/unless you finish the previous one? So I’m wrong about that? (Ack! Swype tried to change “wrong” to “whoring”… For the record, I am NOT whoring about! Lol!!!)

    • This is awesome. Thank you for the clarification!

    • Okay, I’ve read the whole thing now and I’d like to know what you think of my current situation and how badly it would mess up using your strategy…

I’m not sure I’m prepared to battle every two hours during the day, when I generally either have to work or am out and about doing stuff, so it will probably be more like every four hours then. Also, I only have one 2-star fighter – all the rest have either three or four stars. I’m thinking that I should now focus on getting a set of 5-star fighters, but, does my not having a bunch of 2-star f fighters really screw things up?

      • It will still work with 3 heart and 4 heart characters. The only difference as you picked up on one of your comments, 3 heart and 4 heart characters can not be used twice in a four hour period, as the 2 heart characters can that heal in 2 hours.

However, you can still definitely make more than the 1,050 knuckles every 4 hours.

Instead of tapping every 2 hours, you’ll just play every four hours. Once you are in your maintenance phase, every four hours you will win three battles getting 1,050 knuckles like everyone. Then use all your 2 heart, 3 heart, and 4 heart characters one at a time to lose battles. You will get 55 knuckles for each character that dies alone in battle. They will need 2, 3, and 4 hours to heal.

When you come back in 4 hours, all your characters will be healed and you’ll just repeat. 3 victories for 1,050, and than 55 knuckles for every character to die alone in battle.

The reason I recommend a loading phase is so you have options for all your characters to die. If I only go with three felon teams roaming my city, I have 4 Tech characters, if all three teams are Brawn predominant, I will struggle to lose maximum battles.

The reason I built up one of each to 5 hearts was so my opponents would generate 5 heart felons to take on and give me more opportunities to die. But I don’t kill off my 5 hour characters, except before going to bed. But it might be better to stop at 4 hearts so that after you win 3 battles you can kill off all your characters, and get 165 (55 x 3) more knuckles than I do.

        • Thanks!! I read this shortly after finishing my battles for the night and I think I pretty much did exactly what you were saying, except I had one character I couldn’t kill without winning a battle. I’m glad I read what you said about my maybe being better off not upgrading past 4 hearts…I think I’ll follow your advice (and only have one set of 4-stars, too….although, now that I think of it, with all of the weakening I’m doing of my opponents (without actually letting myself win), maybe I’m better off not doing any more upgrades at all, because, once I reach Maintenance, getting my three wins will be possible with almost any character I have!

    • Well, that was a long post.

      😜

  17. I’m undefeated, so I didn’t know that you got a second chance to win. This does create a dilemma. I have 7 fighters, but only one still has 2 hearts. I’d like to know more about your losing strategy. I imagine you switch on every turn? Do you heal your 2 heart players between fights? I think the losing strategy is more complicated than the winning one.
Also, I’m not sure if anyone mentioned this before: 5 bandaids for 100 cards or 10 bandaids for 210 cards? Why would you choose the latter? Laziness?

    • Check out the comment I posted in this same comment section at 2:09am EDT (adjust time according to your time zone) for a VERY detailed explanation.

Quick answers to all your questions
      – I send only one character in at a time, so no switching.
      – 2 heart characters are better at losing because with right match-up (or I should say with the perfect wrong match-up), they will be killed on the very first counter attack. 3 and 4 hearts need two counter attacks to be killed.
      – Losing strategy is definitely more complicated, exactly why I put it as an Advanced strategy. Beginners and Intermediates should stick to winning.
      – Prices were illogical for Band Aids, but EA has fixed them.

    • Yes, losing is more complicated than winning (which is I think why he referred to it as the “advanced” strategy.

As for bandaids, don’t buy any. You should get enough of the water thingies to do any necessary repairs and you’ll probably want to use those saved up trading cards to get the other craftables (like the bookstore and the truck), instead. I bought one small box of bandaids a couple of days ago and regret having wasted the 100 trading cards on it (especially once I got the free big box from the prize track).

      Just my $.02!

      • The only reason I bought a box of 10 band aids was because crafting something was the daily prize and worth three doughnuts. At the time, I only had enough cards to buy that craftable; I think it was the first or second daily prize for the event.

  18. Great detailed post, the advanced level leave me in a dilema! I’m a competitive person and hate losing when I know I can win, I love perfect records but with advanced stragegy it enables me to get further with bonuts (which in it’s self is a win). It’s like choosing which child to love more! This has opened a whole new can of worms for me.

    Like I said…….. A dilema!

    • No matter what a parent says, it’s always the first child…I have an older brother. 😄

    • i wonder if this is just a glitch, that you are able to fight until you win

      • If they knew about it and didn’t mean for it to happen, then yes its a “glitch” in the system.

If they intentionally left it so you can keep battling, but forgot to take the mathematics into account, then no its a “flaw” in the system.

Definitely prefer flaw, cause glitch will probably get fixed.

Either way, with over 100 losses and 6,000+ extra knuckles, I’ll take advantage of the glitch/flaw.

  19. Josephine Kick@$$

Awesome neighbor! The part about the sequence to pick your lineup helped tremendously, I was frustrated at losing the first shot because I had to switch my fighter😊😊😊

    • Neighbour? I was like I don’t have any neighbours named Josephine Kick@$$. Then I just went to the Up and Atom main event post where you signed off with granmama, and I was like “ah!” (light bulb turning on cartoon).

      Glad it helped neighbour!

  20. Thank you for sharing the “losing” tip! I would have never seen that and will now be taking full advantage of it!.

  21. Ouch,I think my prefrontal cortex just broke…..

    • Mine just broke reading your comment! 🤕😄

    • What was the breaking point, the eight more words, comma,or the periods?

      • It was while reading “prefrontal cortex” when I heard/felt something pop. But I was only kidding…I brain my broke time long ago. 😉

    • As long as your amygdala doesn’t have a target with a picture of my gravatar or my name on it, I’m fine with your response.

Truth be told, when I read the post after writing it, I think I broke my prefrontal cortex too. Messaged the Addicts that the post is a disaster. But then I re-read it a couple times and didn’t change much at all. I STRONGLY recommend re-reading it a couple times. It gets better/easier to understand after each run through.

  22. Great post and it makes sense but the OCD in me is struggling with the losing, even if it is to win! I only used one felon in my social battles today to ensure I had time to fit in 3 battles, which is hard to do on a work day, but now when I look at the neighbours leader board I have red in my bar and its making me a bit sad 😭

  23. For the advanced strategy, how do you plan out your losses, while still having enough “healthy” characters to finish all three battles within the four hours?

I felt like I had it all figured out when I was just playing to win, but this one is a real brain-buster!

    • You actually don’t need to beat them before the next lot spawns. I’ve had 5 groups of crims roaming around at once. Not sure what the limit is, though.

      • Alissa posted somewhere 12. I’m now consistently having 12 teams roaming my city every 4 hours. But I defeat three before the next four hours elapse because of that 12 I saw.

Haven’t tried to see if I can go to 15. But truth be told, don’t want to either. Because if you’re not winning 3 battles every four hours eventually (see my 2:09am EDT comment regarding Maintenance phase), you’re not actually getting more knuckles as it takes a lot of 55 knuckle losses to make up for the 1,050 knuckles three wins generate.

  24. I didn’t need to read this so I didn’t but saw enough scrolling that I would like to commend you for your commitment and dedication to this site! Impressive.

    • So you had already even figured out the “advanced” strategy? Not many people had thought of that strategy, even a lot of the long-time players…

      • Now I had yo read what was so “advanced!” about a simple game. And it’s an error on their part I assume. I’ve never lost, so I never had the opportunity to learn that, and I don’t plan to, I’m a straight winner baby. I’m the reigning, 51-0-0 undefeated and undisputed champion of the world! Lol. I’ll do it if there’s ever a good reason, but for the extra 150 knuckles each round I’m not wasting my precious time to hopefully score a few extra donuts in the end. I’m already extremely bored of the fight game, and it just began, I LOVE THE EVENT STORY & ITEMS don’t get me wrong, but the game is a major buzzkill after you’ve enjoyed each of the animations a few times IMHO.

        • It’s not 150 extra knuckles per round but actually 55 x 2 x the number of 2 heart characters you sacrifice.

So with my nine 2 heart characters, I’m getting 990 extra knuckles every four hour round (55 x 2 x 9). And as I unlock more characters as the event progresses, that number will only get higher.

        • Oh, it’s a LOT more than 150 extra knuckles each round…check out Safi’s comment in which he details the losing strategy more thoroughly.

I would think that, if you’re finding the event boring, playing around with the pretty complex “advanced” strategy would make it more interesting. And, while you may be the reigning champ of the battles, you’re not really winning the war, so to speak. But, if that’s what makes you happy, then that’s all that really matters in this silly little game!

        • I’m with you, I was amused the 1st day or two but 3 days in and it’s already a tedious chore so racing through the prizes to get a nice long rest between issues might be a good enough reason for me to adopt a ‘losing’ strategy, probably more challenging too. Think Fight Club, ‘your homework is to pick a fight and lose, it’s harder than you think’

  25. Just quickly browsing all the comments. A lot of questions about the Advanced strategy. Drove to London for my brother-in-law’s convocation. I’ll write a detailed response comment when I get back to Toronto tonight.

Graduates coming in. But quickly say you can only incur twice as many losses as the number of low heart characters you have in a 4hr period. Have 2 go. Will expand l8r.

  26. Hello all you heroes!
I have been looking for an answer regarding the Lucite Container. Is Lucite a craftable needed for the event, like a currency, or is it needed for the battles or for a character? Or is this lucite container only a simple decoration? Thank you 🙂

  27. Wow. That was detailed. Great job. That’s why I don’t write posts. I would have said it’s rock, paper, scissors but yr opponent tells you what he’s going to pick beforehand

  28. Hi Safi!

Would love another post with specific scenario of losing so many times and yet having characters available for battle. How many bandaids are you using every four hour round? I’m already concerned that I need to keep the bandaid budget in check if I’m going to have enough crafting currency.

    • You should be able to plan it so you don’t need to use band-AIDS or science water. It might mean one more or less loss, or returning before the four-hour window for new felons, but it’s totally doable.

  29. I’ve been using your advanced strategy, but adapted it to complete all battles in one sitting. So I can lose two battles for every one won, and six of my seven characters take complete damage (or mostly). They’re all ready for the next battle though as my highest level is three hearts. I’ve been holding off upgrading past three hearts as I think I’ll have to adjust the strategy and start deliberately sending players who are at a disadvantage (ie. send a brawn character against a tech felon).

This is nicely written up as a guide 🙂

  30. I’m a loser and that makes me a winner. Kind of like, “it’s hip to be square.” 🎶
