Hey Tappers!
Hope you’ve got your dancing shoes on and your cell phones ready to light up the night because Homerpalooza has arrived in Springfield! That’s right the rock fest has begun! One key aspect introduced in Homerpalooza is Jam Sessions.
NOTE: This post is a continuation of the Act 1 – rock post, but will focus on Act 2 – Pop. We’ll have another separate post for Act 3
….

Jam Sessions:
So in this event, similar to a few events in the past (TapBall, Superheroes, Halloween come to mind), you’ll be tasked with sending characters on a secondary task. In this case it’s Jam Sessions.
From the Event Hub or in the top right of your screen, click on the stage icon
to send characters to Jam Sessions.
Jam Session Stages:
Jam Sessions are conducted at various stages in each Act. In Act 1 – Rock, Jam Sessions were conducted at the Rock Stage, Moe’s Tavern, Kwik-e-Mart, and eventually The Simpsons House (if you unlocked it in the prize track). In Act 2 – Pop, your Rock characters (identified by the
logo) will continue to have Jam Sessions at these four stages. However, you’ll now also have Pop characters (identified by the
logo) that can have Jam Sessions at the Pop Stage, Moe’s Tavern, Kwik-e-Mart, and eventually Springfield Elementary (when you unlock it in the prize track).
As you may have noticed, Moe’s Tavern and Kwik-e-Mart are listed as venues for both your Rock and your Pop characters. Every time you go to conduct a Jam Session at these two venues, the game will randomly assign whether the stage is a venue for your Rock
characters or your Pop
characters. The game will only show you the characters that can jam on that stage at that time. So if you go to Moe’s and only see Rock characters, it’s a Rock stage for this Jam Session; or vice versa if you only see Pop characters. As it’s random, you could have one of four possibilities for these two venues:
1) Moe’s Tavern = Rock, Kwik-e-Mart = Rock
2) Moe’s Tavern = Rock, Kwik-e-Mart = Pop
3) Moe’s Tavern = Pop, Kwik-e-Mart = Rock
4) Moe’s Tavern = Pop, Kwik-e-Mart = Pop
4 characters can jam at the Rock Stage and Pop Stage, while only 2 can jam at Moe’s Tavern, Kwik-e-Mart, The Simpsons House, and Springfield Elementary. If you fill a stage, you get 100 bonus event currency (
in Act 2). So if you don’t have enough characters to fill all the stages, it’s in your best interest to fill as many of the small stages as possible.
Jam Session Characters:
Various characters can Jam (perform on stage) to earn more event currency.
In Act 2, Rock characters that can jam at any of the four Rock stages are the same ones from Act 1 that have a blue
icon next to them, and include:
- Homer
- Apu
- Rev. Lovejoy
- Dr. Hibbert
- Lisa
- Bleeding Gums Murphy
- Shredder Stevens
- Freddy Freeman
- Rockstar Maggie
- Nick Delacourt
- Peter Dabbruzio
- Rockin Otto
- Weird Al
In Act 2, Pop characters that can jam at any of the Pop stages have a pink
icon next to them, and include:
- Lisa
- Bart
- Milhouse
- Ralph
- Nelson
- Alaska Nebraska
- Leon Kompowski
- Maggie
- Bleeding Gums Murphy
- Rockstar Maggie
- Weird Al
NOTE: Act 3 – Hip Hop
characters will be discussed in the Act 3 conclusion of this post.
Star Management:
The more frequently you send characters, the better the character will get (i.e. Practice Makes Perfect), and as a result, the more event currency they will earn. The goal is to get your characters to 5 star performers to earn the most event currency possible from each Jam Session, as higher star ranks earn more rewards from Jam Sessions.
Each character has a base star value: (NOTE: Act 2 characters have been added this time, while Act 3 characters will be shown in the subsequent post!)
| Star Ranks | Characters | Currency Payout |
| 1 Star | Homer, Apu, Rev. Lovejoy, and Dr. Hibbert. | 25 |
| 1.5 Star | Weird Al Yankovic, Nick Delacourt | 37 |
| 2 Star | Lisa, Bart Mihouse, Ralph, Nelson, | 50 |
| 2.5 Star | Bleeding Gums Murphy, Shredder Stevens, Freddy Freeman, Rockstar Maggie | 62 |
| 3 Star | Maggie, Alaska Nebraska | 75 |
| 3.5 Star | Leon Kompowsky | 87 |
| 4 Star | 100 | |
| 4.5 Star | 112 | |
| 5 Star | 125 |
As shown above, 1 star characters earn 25 event currency. 2 stars earn 50 event currency, 3 stars earn 75, 4 stars earn 100, and the maxed out 5 star characters earn 125 event currency.
When sending characters, you get 50 bonus event currency for filling the stage, so best to fill those stages up.
Upgrading Characters:
Each character requires 80 star points to rank up to the next half star. Each Jam Session awards the character 5 star points. So it takes 16 Jam Sessions to be upgraded to the next half star. Alternatively, you can spend 1 donut per 5 star points (or 16 donuts to level up a complete half star) – though we never recommend spending your precious donuts to do so.
Time commitment wise, it takes 4 hours per Jam Session, 16 Jam Sessions to upgrade half a star, so 64 hours to upgrade half a star. Homer, Apu, Rev. Lovejoy, and Dr. Hibbert will require 8 half-star upgrades to reach 5 stars, so that’s 512 hours or 21 and a third days of practice. This time commitment is reduced by 64 hours for every half star a characters base star rank is higher than 1 star.
You’ll notice, for this reason Act 2 characters start at a much higher base star value. So someone like Leon Kompowsky that starts at 3.5 base star value would only need 3 half-star upgrades, or 192 hours of practice, to reach 5 stars.
Tips and Tricks:
Be sure to check out the Act 1 post for Tips and Tricks.
And that’s it my friends. A few quick tips to make Jam Sessions in Springfield rock….
What are your thoughts on Jam Sessions? Have any other tips or tricks you can share for Act 2 only? Rank up any Act 2 characters yet? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

Hi Everyone! Have you been able to send Maggie to a jam session?
No, not yet. My new guess, she won’t be released until the end of Act 2 (or I guess I should say when Act 3 starts).
You can see Milhouse has the Hip Hop icon in addition to the Pop icon. Likewise, other Pop characters might be used in the Hip Hop Act. So to balance this, Maggie might not be released until Act 3 hits. Time will tell.
Thanks for the response! I hope to see Maggie Jaming soon! Lol…. Do you know what the green dollar sign next to a few of the jam session charters is all about? They’re displayed in line with the rock and/or pop icons. ??
The green icon is from Act 3 Hip Hop. It indicates who can jam at the 4 Hip Hop venues. More info to follow in the Act 3 Jam Sessions post.
Baby Maggie is here for both Pop and Hip Hop!!!
I just unlocked Wierd Alex, and I was unable to send him to any of the pop venues. I sent everyone but one pop kid and the pop stage, then exited the game and opened it again still no luck
That is weird. I unlocked Weird Al’s pop capability yesterday and have sent him to Pop stages a couple of times. Does he show the pink Pop icon at least?
This event is starting to get annoying, there is hardly anyone left for railroad construction once you start Weird Al’s quest and the performances. Usually I’m done with it Friday at the latest but now I’m not even halfway. And I don’t see it getting any better in the last act.
Weird Al doesn’t become a Pop Star until after you unlock that ability (after getting Springfield Characters to perform Tasks and earn 200 Special Currency) – just like Tappers did in Act 1 to get Weird Al unlocked as a Rock Star
You actually need to complete three sets of 200 tasks. The first set awards event currency, the second set awards crafting currency, and then the third set awards Weird Al’s Pop capability.
I just unlocked him last night and can now send him to all 6 Jam Session Stages.
I am still working on Weird Al’s “parody apps” tasks… When I get to 200 on that, Is *that* what unlocks his ability to play pop stages?
Yes, once you finish the third set of 200 in this act, you unlock his capability to perform on the Pop stage.
Ah, good… They’re taking forever… Got the pop plane today; thought I would have had Al for pop songs before that!
I have completed the build of the Pop Stage but when I tap on it It’s not even opening a window (just playing the stage sound) to send the kids who have the task to use the stage or have a go to button next to the kids even though it says they are ready.
Can you send them through the event hub?
No I can’t do anything with them. They are in my options for characters to send to the Pop Stage but the Pop Stage isn’t even in my stages to switch to like at the top with the arrows that go left and right to switch to each of the stages. I click on the Pop Stage in my town and it just makes the sound but no window that gives me a way to pick the kids. I don’t even think the quest started with whoever starts the quest Pop and Circumstance.
That’s unfortunate. Looks like you’ll have to contact EA.
Hi there is there a problem with my game? I can’t seems to use baby Maggie at pop moe or kem
Not a problem with your game. Baby Maggie has not yet been released for the Act. Like Rockin’ Otto in Act 1, she’ll be released sometime during Act 2.
Thanks, you answered the question in my comment above! 👏👍
Ah I wish I had seen this before I sent them out on stages today. I knew I had more than enough characters to fill but for some reason couldn’t put anyone on my last two stages. Must be because now I have to be strategic about who goes where
i’m confused. can you only have 10 performers going at a time? i have 6 locations now…but al, peter and nick can’t be used (at the time of this post). 3 locations with nothing going on. maybe i need to be more careful on who i’m sending where? seems a little ridiculous…
I have 15 of the 16 available characters so far (no Rockin Otto and no Pop Weird Al yet either). I have 14 of them filling all 6 venues again.
Here’s one option you can do:
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Freddy, Shredder, Nick
Simpsons House (Rock only): Dr Hibbert, Apu
Pop Stage (Pop only): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): Leon K, Rockstar Maggie
Moe’s and KEM (both Rock): Lisa, Bleeding Gums, Weird Al, Rev Lovejoy, Homer, or Rockin’ Otto
Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop): Weird Al, Rev Lovejoy, Homer, or Rockin’ Otto on Rock and Lisa or Bleeding Gums on Pop
Moe’s and KEM (both Pop): Lisa, Bleeding Gums, and eventually baby Maggie and Pop Weird Al
If you only have freemium players, you will have empty venues. Here’s what I would do:
Scenario A – Moe’s and KEM (both Rock)
Moe’s and KEM (both Rock): Lisa, Weird Al, Rev Lovejoy, Homer
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Nick, Dr Hibbert, Apu
Simpsons House (Rock only): empty
Pop Stage (Pop only): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): empty
Scenario B – Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop) if Pop Weird Al unlocked
Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop): Rev Lovejoy and Homer at Rock; Lisa and Pop Weird Al at Pop
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Nick, Dr Hibbert, Apu
Simpsons House (Rock only): empty
Pop Stage (Pop only): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): empty
Scenario C – Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop) if Pop Weird Al not available
Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop): Rev Lovejoy and Homer at Rock; Lisa and Bart at Pop
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Nick, Dr. Hibbert, Apu
Simpsons House (Rock only): Rock Weird Al alone
Pop Stage (Pop only): Nelson alone
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): Milhouse and Ralph
Scenario D – Moe’s and KEM (both Pop)
Moe’s and KEM (both Pop): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Nick, Dr. Hibbert, Apu
Simpsons House (Rock only): Rev Lovejoy, Homer
Pop Stage (Pop only): empty
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): Lisa and Weird Al Pop if available at Pop
Maggie baby will be able to play jam sessions? Unlockable? When?
Like Rockin’ Otto in Act 1, she’ll be released sometime during Act 2.
My Nick Delacourt doesn’t seem to be earning stars for jam sessions. Peter D’abbruzio is at 70/80 for his next level-up, and all of my musician characters have some progress to show for the jam sessions I’ve been sending them on. But Nick is still 2.5 stars and 0/80. I ignored his character quest in favor of sending him to jam sessions and he’s been jamming non-stop since I unlocked him. Am I missing something here?
I’d contact EA. That is an unfortunate glitch, because he should be awarded 5 jam sessions points towards the 80 required to level up regardless of which stage he jam’s at.
Are you sure he didn’t just get a level up? I think he only started at 1 or 1.5 stars. My Nick is at 2.5 stars, 20/80.
Yeah, BrianK is right. Nick starts at 1.5. So he has leveled up twice. I had copied the table from the Act 1 post that listed Nick as 2.5. When I was notified of the error, I updated Nick to 1.5 stars in the Act 1 post only. I just updated the Act 2 post to reflect Nick starts at 1.5. I’ll update the Act 3 post too.
If you have all available characters, you would only fall one or two short if both Moe’s and KEM are Pop, until you unlock Weird Al’s Pop capability and Maggie is released as a Pop character.
Here’s one option you can do:
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Freddy, Shredder, Nick
Simpsons House (Rock only): Dr Hibbert, Apu
Pop Stage (Pop only): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): Leon K, Rockstar Maggie
Moe’s and KEM (both Rock): Lisa, Bleeding Gums, Weird Al, Rev Lovejoy, Homer, or Rockin’ Otto
Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop): Weird Al, Rev Lovejoy, Homer, or Rockin’ Otto on Rock and Lisa or Bleeding Gums on Pop
Moe’s and KEM (both Pop): Lisa, Bleeding Gums, and eventually baby Maggie and Pop Weird Al
If you only have freemium players, here’s what I would do:
Scenario A – Moe’s and KEM (both Rock)
Moe’s and KEM (both Rock): Lisa, Weird Al, Rev Lovejoy, Homer
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Nick, Dr Hibbert, Apu
Simpsons House (Rock only): empty
Pop Stage (Pop only): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): empty
Scenario B – Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop) if Pop Weird Al unlocked
Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop): Rev Lovejoy and Homer at Rock; Lisa and Pop Weird Al at Pop
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Nick, Dr Hibbert, Apu
Simpsons House (Rock only): empty
Pop Stage (Pop only): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): empty
Scenario C – Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop) if Pop Weird Al not available
Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop): Rev Lovejoy and Homer at Rock; Lisa and Bart at Pop
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Nick, Dr. Hibbert, Apu
Simpsons House (Rock only): empty
Pop Stage (Pop only): Nelson alone
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): Milhouse and Ralph
Scenario D – Moe’s and KEM (both Pop)
Moe’s and KEM (both Pop): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Nick, Dr. Hibbert, Apu
Simpsons House (Rock only): Rev Lovejoy, Homer
Pop Stage (Pop only): empty
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): Lisa and Weird Al Pop if available at Pop
Thank you for the info 🙂
It helps to have all of your possible performers on coordinated 4 hour tasks. If your currently performing characters and your taking a break characters are not in sync or your stages are not in sync you can end up with either idle characters (don’t want to commit until you know what the toss-up stages are going to be) or a character in the middle of a task when they are needed. It becomes a lot easier when everything is in sync — unfortunately for me, the pop stage was out of sync this morning so today has been a mess!
I’ve found this hard to achieve also, hoping I’ve got the hang of it now. Today is a new day 😊🇬🇧
I don’t think baby Maggie plays on the pop stages. I didn’t see her listed.
Maggie, just like Rockin’ Otto in Act 1, may not be released until mid-Act.
Oh ok, makes sense.
Along those same lines–in my game, Weird Al is not able to play pop stages. Does that change during the course of Act 2? I’ve unlocked the first two prizes so far…
The third prize in the Weird Al quest line is Weid Al’s capability to perform on the Pop stage. So yes, you will unlock that ability quite soon.
Great–thanks! 🙂
Rock star Maggie
No, the post is referring to baby Maggie. Both baby Maggie (once she is released) and Rock Star Maggie are pop characters.
Also, question about Rock Star Maggie. Sometimes she shows up in my musician lineup with the pink “get now” button. If I tap the button, I get taken to the Concert Mystery Box, but when I go into it, Rock Star Maggie isn’t one of the possible prizes anymore. Is this a glitch?
She’s shown with her building, the Hyperstadium.
However, unless you have all other items, the Mystery Box is just that, a mystery! You may or may not get the Hyperstadium with Rockstar Maggie.
First. Thank you for the info. So, are you recommending that we fill the small venues FIRST, (if possible) then move to the larger stages?
That’s right. If you only have 6 characters, if you send 2 to Moe’s, 2 to KEM, and 2 to the Simpsons house, you’ll get 300 bonus event currency for filling three stages. In contrast, if you send 4 of those characters to the Rock Stage, and the other 2 to either Moe’s, KEM, or the Simpsons House, you’ll only get 200 bonus event currency.
gotcha. thanx
thanks for the info. Makes more sense to me now
Yes, especially if you are limited in characters.
Is there any way to add jam slots at the venues with only 2 slots?
No.
Thank goodness for the 24 minute buffer! Helps sooo much with the 4 hour cycles.😆 Remember the good old days of actually standing in line (possibly overnight) to get that prized ticket? Oh the days of seeing Stevie Wonder and the Stones in one concert.
Nice article Safi. I just wanted to note that the bonus for filling a stage in this Act is 100, not 50. Shredder and Freddy at 4.5 stars each are earning 324 at the Simpson House.
Ok so you have think about which characters perform where but let’s be honest about it there is not a lot to this event. Very repetative, could have done with another element perhaps. Weird Al’s prizes are hardly worth the effort.
Sorry, I like the concept involving the stages etc but there is really not much to be excited about & I doubt whether Act 3,will be much different .
I was hoping for Weird Al to have a new set of goofy clothes or something. They didn’t use enough imagination so far with his character in my opinion
Looking at the list of available characters, there four names on both lists: Lisa, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Rockstar Maggie and Weird Al (though Al might need to be unlocked for Pop stages first, I think?). Then I, personally, have 8 more Rock characters and 5 more Pop (for now).
Comparing the complete lists in the article, it’s 13 to 11, in favor of Rock. With two main venues of 4 each and three randomized side venues of 2 each, for a total of 14, you could sometimes need 10 of one genre and 4 of the other, which means: it is possible to not be able to fill up all venues if the 4 cross-genre characters are used in the wrong venue.
For me, that means I need to either (1) use the cross-genre characters last or (2) fill Pop stages first, so that the four cross-genre characters can be used first to fill up holes in my Pop venues.
Meaning, it’s better NOT to use Auto-fill anymore. Keep Lisa, BGM, Rockstar Maggie and Weird Al in reserve until you need them.
Well in your example of 10 of one genre and 4 of the other; it would only happen with 10 Rock and 4 Pop. You can fill Pop with the Party Posse (Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, and Nelson) and fill the 10 Rock spots with Homer, Rev. Lovejoy, Apu, Dr. Hibbert, Weird Al, Nick, Peter; and if you have them, 3 of Rockstar Maggie, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Shredder Stevens, Freddy Freeman, or Rockin Otto.
You can’t have 10 Pop and 4 Rock because the Rock Stage and Simpsons House are always Rock.
Kind of annoying that the venues switch between rock and pop. Now I need to keep more characters available so I’m always able to fill the stages.
Thanks @Safi for the post! Before assigning chars to jam, if you scroll through your venues there should be some text that says something like ‘assign pop artists to jam’ (or rock) at the very bottom of the screen for each venue. That helps when trying to figure out who is available. So far I’ve been alternating between pop/pop and rock/rock for KEM & Moes but it’s good to know they could alternate.
When placing characters to perform, at the bottom of that window will tell you what each venue (Simpsons house, Moe`s and Kwik-E-Mart) is
(Pop or Rock) for that session.
Simpsons House will always be Rock. Because nobody rocks like Bill & Marty on KBBL, I mean like the Simpsons.
Okay, so the venues are:
Rock Stage – Always Rock
Simpsons House – Always Rock
Pop Stage – Always Pop
Moe’s – Pop or Rock
Kwik-E-Mart – Pop or Rock
Is that right?
Yes. You can add another Springfield Elementary as Always Pop for Act 2 as well. But like Simpsons House in Act 1, you’ll have to progress to unlock it.
This event is kinda like tap ball, in that, to maximize your payouts, you need to do some strategizing as to which charters to use and where (especially if you have all of the usable characters). I enjoy that, except for when I’m in a rush, but I’m surprised (pleasantly) that there hasn’t been more complaining about that, like there was for tap ball, from folks here who prefer events that just require mindless tapping.
What makes this one even more “work” than tap ball, though, is the changeable nature of Moe’s and the KEM…. you can’t just find one good working strategy and then just keep repeating it….you need to have several versions. Couple that with my stupid desire (need?) to actually care about what the visible performances *look* like, and things like whether I’m doing the rail yard on a particular day, who has other, more lucrative tasks they can be doing, active questlines, etc….it’s a fun puzzle, but one I probably shouldn’t be spending this much time on, given that I’m trying to get a lot of “real” work done before I go out on vacation and that I’m already going to bed later than I should be…
Oh, and great post, Safi….now you can just link to in comments in other posts, rather than having to keep repeating the whole lowdown! 😉
Howdy neighbor!
I also have all available characters right now, and unlocked Springfield Elementary for performances earlier today…
Being in the middle of 3/4 things, I just started mindlessly sending people and realized “I have a venue with no eligible people”! The Horror!
So, sitting down tonight I was determined to make sure all stations were filled but…ended up in the same mess! Especially for simple minds, like me ;), gotta be an easier way of spreading out all my characters so I have each station working/none empty.
Help?
We all start the act with 4 freemium pop musicians, 7 freemium rock musicians, and Lisa, who can do both. There will be at least 4 and at most 8 slots for pop musicians, and at least 6 and at most 10 slots for rock musicians. Sounds like a logic puzzle but relax, it’s not that complicated. If you have no premium characters you can still use all venues during each cycle, but when the variable venues both call for pop musicians you might have leftover rockers.
Act 2 strategy:
Start with the variable venues (KEM and Moe’s) and fill them with musicians exclusive to that genre or with only an act 3 crossover. Fill all available slots. You should NOT be choosing a musician here with both rock and pop capabilities. If you have only freemium characters and they’re calling for pop musicians you will have used all of your pop-exclusive musicians at these venues. That’s ok.
Then go to the Simpson’s house. Choose rock-exclusive musicians or rock/hip-hop musicians to fill the slots at this venue. Fill all available slots. Again, you should NOT be choosing a musician here with both rock and pop capabilities. Regardless of the genre the variable venues called for, you will have leftover rockers.
When you unlock Springfield Elementary as a venue it should be filled after the Simpson’s house and before the pop stage. Prioritize pop-exclusive musicians here and move on to pop/hip-hop and then to pop/rock crossovers as needed to fill all slots. Fill all available slots (if possible). After filling this venue you will only have musicians left to perform at the pop stage if the variable venues called for rock musicians or if you have premium pop performers. That’s ok – it’s better to get the bonus here than to fill all stages with pop musicians.
Now fill the pop stage, prioritizing pop-exclusive musicians. Fill all available slots (if possible). If the variable venues called for pop stars Lisa might be performing alone. If you have unlocked the school as a venue and the KEM and Moe’s both called for pop musicians you might not have any pop performers left. It’s ok, you’ve maximized your bonus slots using the smaller venues.
Lastly, fill the rock stage. Choose anyone you like. Fill all available slots (if possible). If the variable venues called for pop music you might have extra rockers. Send those characters on a 4-hour task (or shorter) so that they are free with the event performers.
If you have all available characters, you would only fall one or two short if both Moe’s and KEM are Pop, until you release Weird Al’s Pop capability and Maggie is released as a Pop character.
Here’s one option you can do:
Rock Stage (Rock only): Peter, Freddy, Shredder, Nick
Simpsons House (Rock only): Dr. Hibbert, Apu
Pop Stage (Pop only): Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson
Springfield Elementary (Pop only): Leon K, Rockstar Maggie [eventually baby Maggie replaces Rockstar Maggie here]
Moe’s and KEM (both Rock): Lisa, Bleeding Gums, Weird Al, Rev Lovejoy, Homer, or Rockin’ Otto
Moe’s and KEM (one Rock & one Pop): Weird Al, Rev Lovejoy, Homer, or Rockin’ Otto on Rock and Lisa or Bleeding Gums on Pop
Moe’s and KEM (both Pop): Lisa, Bleeding Gums, and eventually Rockstar Maggie (when Pop baby Maggie takes over at Spr Elem) and Pop Weird Al
Sorry for the belatedresponse ….crazy day yesterday…
If you, like I, have all of the available event characters, but don’t yet have Alaska Nebraska or the ability to use Weird Al for pop, AND you hit the unlucky combo in which both Moe’s and the KEM are pop, then you won’t be able to fill all of your stage slots. In that case, fill the smaller venues first, then send the last two pop-ables to the pop stage. Until we get Akaka and Al as pop options, that’s the best we can do.
As for rock, there I have more characters available than I need, even when Moe’s and the KEM are both rock. I prioritize who I’m going the send first by whether they can be used for multiple genres and then by how high their current rating is. So, if they can only do rock and only have a couple of stars, they’re not likely to perform. In actuality, I keep Homer out of jamming (because he’s useful elsewhere and can earn premium) and then one other. I did go through Nick’s questline, so that had him out of play for a while…I did that because he had a low rating anyway, but, of course, being out of action meant he wasn’t able to increase it, either.
Probably more info than you needed, but does that help? (TBH, I also keep a scrap of paper listing who can do what, which also helps…)
Weird Al doesn’t seem to be pop, and regular Maggie doesn’t seem to be anything…
You have to unlock Weird Al’s pop capability by completing the Weird Al tasks. As for Maggie, just like Otto in Act 1, some characters may not be released until mid-Act.
Ohhh! Thanks safi! You save the day again
Just one question. Is it good to use the autofill? I do not usually use it but has any one found it advantageous?
It’s your call…but, maximizing your payout by selecting the right players for each venue is part of the fun of being a “promoter” and “booking agency.”
It’s definitely best to fill them yourself as you can create the optimal lineup. You’d want to use your highest base star value characters initially to earn more currency and unlock more of the prize track. You’d also like to make sure you fill all your 6 stages. So always start by filling your Rock Stage and Simpsons House with Rock or Rock/Hip Hop characters first and your Pop Stage and Springfield Elementary with Pop or Pop/Hip Hop only characters first. That way when you get to Moe’s and KEM, you can calculate the best way to fill those stages with the Rock/Pop characters.
Note, as mentioned in the previous tips and tricks, if you don’t have enough characters to fill all 6 stages, then start filling up all the 2 spot stages first to get more bonuses.
If you use “auto fill” will it give you the best payout or should we take time to strategize?
Also, what is the lag time when placing lawyers in neighbors towns? I have cleared my town of lawyers, gone back to make sure there are no more. Then do a third check and see a few that had to have been just dropped. Then immediately go to the neighbors town who sent them and check when they last played and the times can be up to three hours since they last played. I thought they would be seen in a town as soon as you dropped them.

I pick and choose who goes where and in what order. Dr. H plays drums and you would want him on the drum riser.. so that would put him in the Bonus position.
if you choose auto fill it will just pick in order most of the time.
I suggest using Bart/Homer as the key to identify which random stage is which.
Bart is pop only. Homer is rock only. Save dual-stage characters like Lisa for last after you fill out the Rock-only and Pop-only stages.
I dont think that is the smartest way to fill stages, because that way I might not be using the most upgraded characters. This of course depends on the number of jammers you have. But for me, the best way is to send the most upgraded characters (those are the dual-trual characters, because I was already upgrading them during rock) to pop first and then if there are any more pop venues, I fill them again with the most upgraded popstars that are left. And then I go to rock venues, and again i send primarily those most upgraded. I do it pop first, rock second, because if I used the most upgraded dual players on rock, I would be left with only 2 star jammers for pop and a couple of 3-3.5 star rockers would be unused.
If I followed your way, I might have only two star jammers on pop, and then the rock venues again filled with low star jammers, and the dual ones might not even get a chance to perform.
I’ve been doing the same as you.
Note that the random venues will say ‘Choose your Rock musicians’ or ‘Choose your Pop musicians’ at the bottom of the screen.
Thank you for this post, as I was about to ask why the kids were suddenly unavailable to play jam sessions this morning! So you answered my question before I even asked it. 😀 Your list of act 2 characters that can perform pop includes Maggie, but she’s not on my list of available characters to jam. Rockstar Maggie is there, but not baby Maggie. Is that something that unlocks during the quest line, or am I missing something?
Yes, more characters will unlock as the Act progresses.
I have to say I’m loving the theme of this event and the fact that it’s a bit more challenging. You really need to think about who you’re sending to jam and where. Makes me laugh when the Party Posse are on stage. Just a shame NSync aren’t in the game coz I find it hilarious they cant just walk normally – they have to dance everywhere 😄
