Black Friday Sale *** SPOILERS ***

Bonjour Beautiful Business-minded Bargain Box Budget Buyers & Barterers,

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “B”)

Many times we state we only put up Spoilers when we feel there is a specific need or good reasoning behind it. The main issue is EA can, has, and will change their minds on us and the information when it goes live may be different then initially “teased” to us. That being said, I also know MANY of you just want to get an idea of what Buildings, Characters, and Decorations may be coming up on Black Friday. Therefore, I think this is one of those times that we can put some Spoilers up. 🙂

I have compiled a list of those “teased” items, just beware these are indeed Spoilers and due to early release on the info… what you actually see in YOUR game may vary on item and timing. Always double check YOUR game to see what pops up in YOUR game and be sure to come back on Friday for the most accurate information on how these sales will play out for YOU. 🙂

ON WITH THE SALES!!!

GENERAL CONCEPT

First up… the main idea of these sales…

  • Unlike past years (where twelve old item returns for a discounted price, one at a time, every hour, twice a day, each day of the sale), this year’s sale will feature a variety of Mystery Boxes.
  • The items in your Mystery Boxes are items you do NOT already have in your game OR they are items that you may be able to get more than one of.
  • If you already have all the items from a Mystery Box in your game, and all of the items are unique, you will not see that Mystery Box. If you have ALL the items already, you may not even see a Mystery Box at all… or a very very limited few.
  • As with any Mystery Box, it’s a mystery which of the items within you will receive. So if you want one particular item, it may take several cracks at that Mystery Box to get said item.
  • This is a list of items in the Mystery Boxes based off of the information at the time of this post. EA can change that information at anytime before the Sales go live in your game.

Summary

On Friday, I will have a series of 8 posts highlighting all the items within each of the eight Mystery Box. You will have all day Friday and all day Saturday to purchase these Mystery Boxes, so don’t panic if over 16 hours have elapsed and you haven’t seen a post on the Mystery Box you are eager to learn about.

If you have none of the above items, it will cost you 7,330    to unlock all the items in Boxes 1 to 7.

Box 8 requires 1  token each time you want to open it. While you will earn one free token on Black Friday, in order to obtain additional tokens, you will have to spend your real-life money to purchase a dozen donuts, a stack of donuts, a truckload of donuts, or a store full of donuts.

In addition to these 8 Mystery Boxes, there will also be a ninth Mystery Box on Sunday released for Cyber Monday.

Again, this Post is all speculation at this time. I wouldn’t be surprised if they extended the first eight Mystery Boxes to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and pushed the Cyber Monday Mystery Box to Monday. They may also add or remove items between now and then. But again, time will tell.

There you have it. Some returning and most sought after items brought back into our games for some great sales and bargains.

Any favorites you have been wanting show up in a Mystery Box? Any Mystery Box really tickle your fancy? Any Mystery Box you just suggest everyone pass on? Which boxes are the best offers in your opinion? Other offers you wish you had seen? Let us know. You know we love hearing from you.

  1. I don’t dislike mysterie boxes in general, but this feels a bit too much. There are some great prizes and some meh-ones .. I really hoped for a sale like last year, with changing prizes every few hours. That was awesome. I hoped for the Dragon-Bundle and Truckasaurus this year, but seeing this I’ll most likely spent all my Donuts for Box 7 and try to get Sophie Krustofskie, the Wiccans or Diabetty. There are really a lot of female characters in that box which I haven’t got yet.

  2. I hope we get some land to go along with the boxes. I have no clue where I’m going to put everything 😝

  3. I hope i dont get those stupid dragons… KEM farming for friday (eventhough, i just get 1 bonut each time)

  4. I accidentally sold my “pokey” a few years ago, around the time when u could wipe ur Springfield for the first time and have been devastated over it. Lol. Been waiting for him to hit a store ever since!

  5. I can see myself dropping at least 2000-3000 donuts this weekend. That’s half of my supply that I legitimately earned. Hoping to get my bonus multiplier to over 1100%(currently sitting at 900% after Springfield Heights bonus)…

  6. The most effective way to stop mystery boxes…don’t buy them.
They must be pretty successful, or EA wouldn’t be doing the entire Black Friday sale with them. Unfortunately, most people enjoy gambling…and they end up spending more than they should on “a chance to get a really good deal”. We must be spending a lot more on mystery boxes than we were before…which has certainly not gone unnoticed by EA…and they are capitalizing on it.

If the idea of Mystery Boxes doesn’t bother you…cool…go for it, take a chance and spin the wheel.

I will be voting for no more mystery boxes by not spending on them at all this Friday…if sales are lackluster, we may see a different format next year. If they have a profitable Friday, then I guess the boxes are here to stay.

    • Like this post mentions, I will wait to see what happens in-game. I’m on board with Cranky about new content. Let’s see new Content for new premium Currency.

    • I while in theory I agree with you %100, I don’t like gambling aspect of it, but in actuality EA is going to sop up the donuts with me this year (unlike previous years) especially on box 3 where finally I see my long coveted Guinea Pig Rescue Center. There’s so much I don’t have from that box I have less than 1:16 chance of getting it first try since Farmers Market is not unique. And yes, after over 3 years of waiting, I’m probably going til I get it. Clever, trixies EA.

      • I’ve been wanting the Guinea Pig Rescue center & Pokey ever since I first started playing! I didn’t know his name was Pokey, or that he even had a name. I think I started playing not long after it was first offered. I have most of the other stuff. RachelS

  7. So many complainers on here. Are you people never happy?

  8. Not a fan of boxes, but atleast all the goodstuff is in 1 box (7). Not bad for 80 donuts.

    • Agreed as I read through the boxes I was thinking oh well looks like I’ll save my donuts until Christmas but then came box 7. A lot of good character building combos.

    • Yes – and as I have all but two of the characters, I will only need to spend 160 donuts on box 7 and be done with it. I am not going to touch any of the other boxes as they contain too many things I do not want. Happy to save the rest of my donuts for the Christmas event.
I wonder what I will get with the free gift token in box 8 – of the 11 items I own 2, would be interest in 2, wouldn’t mind 4 and am not thrilled about 3.

      • I have 9 out of the 19 items, but i’ll stop buying once i have sleepeazy and powell. I’ll save the rest for Christmas.

  9. Wow! Thought I only really wanted two characters then I read this list. So many things I’d like and Shary Bobbins tops my list. Would be perfect if Stephen Hawking was in there too.

As for the Cyber Monday surprise… I just hope it’s what I think it is. Then I’d have him in both games! 😜

  10. mystery boxes?! um, NO. I will wait for xmas event.

  11. I never leave comments on this page (even though I’m a regular), in fact I created this account just to comment my thoughts on this. To me, it’s pretty obvious what EA are going to do. They will lead those who have been saving up for Black Friday to waste their donuts on stuff they don’t want, and then during the Christmas event they’ll give decent discounts on actual good premium items in an attempt to get people to spend more money on the game.
My opinion is to just skip the whole sale, and save your hard-earned donuts for the Christmas event

  12. at least it looks like they grouped similar items together, so if you want some new stores for you town, you get box 3 etc.

  13. Little bummed about the mystery boxes.. I liked the daily ‘countdown’ to buy per item from previous Black Friday sales.. and where we could ‘see’ what was upcoming on sale. Made it more exiciting. Guess they want us to spend more donuts for ‘chances’ to get things we want instead of just buying outright the one thing we do want, Oh well.

  14. It looks like I’m in the minority, as I am much more excited about this year’s deals than last years. I wonder if we just think of the past with rose colored glasses.

Last year they only offered 3 building/character combos, you had to be logged in at a specific time, and no combo cost as little as 80 donuts.

    • You’re right…I had forgotten just how anemic the Black Friday items were last year! Although I understand why some people are upset about the mystery box format, at least there are a lot of great items in them! And, since the majority of the character combos are in one box, odds aren’t too bad for getting what you want from that box. And singe of the prices are amazing….a half to a third of the normal price, meaning you can afford to get one thing you didn’t want for every item you did want and still come out ahead.

      • you make a very good point that I had not really thought of.. didn’t realize cheaper for the chances.. maybe it won’t be so bad after all. I am so set in my ways, so this is a good way for me to ‘branch out.’ who knows? Maybe I will score some good stuff. I did buy extra donuts in preparation for this!

    • Oh, don’t get me wrong, the offerings last year were meager at best, but the whole gambling on getting items you absolutely don’t want and basically spending donuts to put stuff in storage is frustrating for anyone who was looking forward to picking up some discounted items they actually want.
At least last year I was able to pick up a few decorations to boost my percentage.
I think it’s the number of potentially lame items in each box that’s bothersome for many about the setup this year…

    • I agree, I think the box for 20 doughnuts looks quite good and is a decent price.
One of the items listed in box 1 is “imaginary bear” is he really imaginary?
if he is, how will I know if I win him? 😛

Even though I’m a premium tapper ( I have spent real money from gift cards)
there are items even in the 20 doughnut box that I do not have in my town.

P:S: EA- I’m still waiting on Wendell, pretty please release him as a character in the game.

    • Same here – excited about Box 7! May even try my luck with Box 1, seeing as they’re only 20 donuts.

  15. I really don’t like these random gamble boxes so this definitely sucks =(

Every time I’ve grabbed one of these boxes in the past I’ve gotten something I don’t want… guess I won’t spend anything this time…

  16. I AM OUT – not wasting my hard earned time (BONUTS) that I grind for which is just as valuable as my cash (well maybe not to you EA) on the chance of 75% or greater than I will get some CR@P I passed on purpose throughout my 3 YEARS playing faithfully. Christmas better be good or I will nuke and go forever. Adios…

  17. This is a blaster. I am currently saving all my d for this very event. I hope i get all missing characters. But in the end its just a game and if i dont reach my self stacked goal the sun will still rise the next day. Im looking forward tonyour posts regarding each box. 🙂

  18. Box 7 is a no brainer for me, screw rest

  19. Dear EA – WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!? Are you trying to sabotage our relationship? Why are you making these changes? Have you been reading Cosmo again?
I keep asking you to change the way you handle our big events because that part of our relationship is getting stale, but not this. Did I do something wrong? I know I haven’t been buying donuts lately, but that’s because you’ve given me no reason. I WANTED to spend money on the squeaky-voiced teen peasant to get some cheap donuts, but had nothing to spend them on and didn’t want to reinforce your terrible attempt at Halloween. I was thinking I could make it up to you for Black Friday, and now I see this. Bad EA, no donut! You could have given me deals and boxes, so I could ignore your stupid boxes of waste, but NO, it’s all boxes…
This is now my 2 favorite events of the year you have ruined. We need to communicate better. Please tell me what you want from me. I’m willing to listen. I can’t imagine life without you, but can’t handle this for much longer.
    Sincerely,
    It’s not me, it’s you

  20. Hello Safi, thanks
I don’t like the principle of mystery boxes, I prefer to know which item I am buying.
In all the boxes there are things that I want but also others that I don’t want 😭
For me, the most interresing box is the box 3

  21. 🚫 On buying tokens ; 🚫
Don’t open this Pandora box .
Don’t start something that we will all regret later on .
The machines will destroy us all .

    🎬🎥🐒 . See ya bye . 👽

    • Debbie Dovenbrink

      Everyone, please listen to hondoriley.
Show EA we don’t want to spend money on gambling.
It all get’s more and more expensive, while EA shows sings of laziness in the meantime.
I guarantee that I won’t buy any token and hope that all of us stay away from EA’s trap of greed, too.

      • I wouldn’t call it greed. Why is it when a company makes money they’re greedy? They have people to pay who have families to feed just like you, is the company you or someone you love works for greedy because they make money to pay you a paycheck?

This is the result of donut farming. EA made it easy to get donuts for free, so now they need a way to still make cash.

        • Debbie Dovenbrink

Well, I would not call it easy. It takes away precious lifetime.
Just look at what it costs you to get just five buildings and characters. Would you pay so much money for a mobile game?
It is alot, lifetime and / or money, that we invest in this game.
Maybe it’s not greedy but a high risk for us tappers nevertheless. Hence I agree with those who choose to reject gambling in order to not encourage EA to try to make us gamble again instead of giving us a real discount on items that we explicitly choose to buy. Let’s show them that we pay for items, not for a slim chance.
          Let’s stand as one. 🙂

          • You’re asking the wrong person. I don’t donut farm. And I’ve put over 1,000 into this game for just my personal game in the last 5 years, not to mention several thousand for my B game which I use to run this site. (rush questlines, buy all premiums etc)

    • Listen to this tapped. PLEASE !!!!!!!!!! We will regret it.😱😱😱😱😱😱😨😨😨😠😠😠😠😬😬😬😞😞😞😞😰😰😰

  22. Box 7 is great! It only contains characters. It has 10 characters that I do not own yet. I’m willing to get them all. 800 donuts for 10 characters is a great deal!

An occasional KEM farmer (about one week per two months)

  23. Gamble boxes… sigh. 🙁 No deal, Gil.

(Full disclosure, I do buy the 6 donut boxes, but only because the odds and average bonus % / donut have been fully extrapolated.) :p

  24. Wow that is a lot of stuff. I think I preferred setting an alarm for a stupid time to secure a particular item. 😉
I only go for characters as a rule so will review once they’re live as to what i want the most and where I spend the donuts. Doubt I’ll have much change from the 400 I’ve saved up!

  25. I’ve had to compose myself after reading about the proposed use of mystery boxes. I hates them so much. Fortunately for me, none of the items I really, really want are in the boxes so I’ll just quietly go about acquiring them.
As some posters have pointed out, the deals are good and may be worth a flutter – but I’m reluctant to encourage EA in this foolishness!
Thanks Safi for the post; it’s great to get the information ahead of time for planning purposes.

  26. Bottom line: if you’ve been consistently playing for more than a couple of years, you probably already have most of the stuff that you actually wanted, so this sale was bound to be a bit underwhelming for a large portion of players. So I might toss some donuts at one or two of the Mystery Boxes… but I won’t be killing myself to get it all, not by a long shot. I’m mostly going to just save up for whatever happens in the Christmas event, and just hope that it’s a more interesting event than last year.

That said: It’s somewhat interesting to stand by and watch, as EA continually reinvents their methods of monetization in this game.

  27. This format doesn’t bother me that much, except for one thing.

So if I’m understanding this right, you’ll see and possibly get again items you already have that are not unique? For instance, I have the Mayflower but see it offered in the vault from time to time because it’s not unique. I don’t really want another one.

But I may get another in Box 4 while attempting to get other items?

    That kinda blows.

  28. Looks like I need about 4000 donuts to get everything in the boxes I don’t already have. Challenge accepted!

  29. Debbie Dovenbrink

Hi Safi, it’s not clear to me what this token stuff is about.
Most boxes will be available for donuts and what one gets out of the box is random, correct?
For one box, we will need a token (which we will get from the game) just to open it? Or do we get something for this token?

It’s not clear to me what you mean, please explain.

    • It’ll be explained more in that post about it (we also discussed it on Addicts Live last week). But basically, you need tokens to open that box. You get 1 token for free. To get more tokens you have to spend actual physical cash…that comes out of your banking/checking/credit card account (or gift cards) to buy donuts. Those donut packages come with additional tokens.

      • Debbie Dovenbrink

Ok, sounds like we’d pay to look then pay again in case a box contains something we want. If so, that would be no special offer but gambling. 😉

    • Box 1 to 7 can be opened for donuts.

Box 8 requires a token to be opened. EA will give you 1 free token on Black Friday. In order to obtain additional tokens, you need to purchase donuts with real money. The more money you spend, the more tokens you get. It will be super clear on Friday.

  30. Nooo… They did too good of a job at mixing the things I want with a bunch of crap I would never want. On top of that I’m sure I’m going to want the Cyber Monday box a lot more than anything..

Right before Christmas! I felt like I was too low on donuts already… This isn’t going to help!

But I guess that’s the point.
