Update: 10:45am ET March 2nd….”sticking” this to the top of the site as some of you are having server issues again. Use this post to discuss. All the same links still apply. However, I have not seen an update regarding the outage on EA’s Twitter as of yet. I’ll keep checking and keep you informed.

As you saw from the title of this post….the Servers are in fact down. And they’ve been down for awhile.
According to EA’s Twitter from last night, they were doing some maintenance on the servers…

UPDATE: FYI EA is now saying the TSTO related issues right now are not related to maintenance. They completed the maintenance a few hours ago. It appears it’s directly a TSTO issue and they’re working on it. They help crew on twitter is directing players here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Simpsons-Tapped-Out/connection/td-p/6659157 (although I don’t know why there’s no new info there…but i’m guessing to at least put a me too in)
It appears that the hardest hit areas are the UK and Europe (with some outages in other places as well)…check out this map:

No idea how long they’re going to be out for, or if this will get more widespread. For now this is about all I know….but you can check out updated status for EA servers on this site.

So for now, know it’s not you…it’s EA. And it’s not just you….others are impacted too. Also, it’s not just TSTO…it’s a variety of games.

Yep, down in the light yellow patch on the East Coast. And i was actually enjoying the flow of bonuts in this event.
What do you think EA will do with the event?
They might give us some extra time ’cause this problem.
I’m not that behind, but probably need some of the hours they “steal” from us.
They haven’t extended an event since 2013, so I wouldn’t count on that happening unless this continues for several more days.

Does anyone know if EA are likely to give us a bit of leeway on the event timings? I was one day ahead of the calendar, but this will take me to the wire for “getting it all”. Is there a past precedence for server related issues in major events? Thanks 😀
They haven’t changed the end date for an event in several years. I think the last time was 2013. So i doubt they will change it, unless this continues for more days. They may however give donuts or extra event currency…that has happened before.

My guess is that it is just their way of saying, “you hate this event? Try finishing it without logging on!”

Would be nice if they gave us a warning when they plan on doing maintenance. I don’t log onto their site, but I’m sure there is some way that they can notify their players that this will happen. We get game pops up all the time during events about new items in the store to buy using donuts, why not do a game pop up stating they are planning maintenance resulting in us not being able to play our games for X amount of time so we can plan ahead for it with our task assisgnments? I don’t think that is too much to ask. Power outages or other tech issues that bring the servers down is one thing, but knowing you are shutting down the servers is another. Other companies give you a warning, EA should do the same. Yes we’ll be a little miffed that we can’t get into our games, but at least we’ll have advanced warning and know why we can’t play and maybe be a little less upset about it. It would also keep us from sending you nasty, angry e-mails or posts about not being able to play. Something to think about EA.
