What’s Going On…

Well guys, I can sum up the lack of information about a new update with 1 emoji…

🤷‍♀️

Nothing is in the files, nothing has been sent from EA, so your guess right now is as good as mine.

Cue the panic…

This isn’t the first time we’ve had a long gap between updates, but it’s the first time in a long time.  (curious about the update releases?  Check out this post for a complete list of every TSTO update and its release date)

What does it all mean? 🤷‍♀️Could mean something, could mean absolutely nothing.  At this point, no one knows what anything means.

So for now, panic 😲…or don’t.  Relax…or go crazy 🤯.  Feel free to speculate 👀 in the comments…or feel free to rebuke the outrageous speculations.  Your call.

I’ll be back later with some more detail posts you guys have been asking for, or 🤞 info about a new update.  We shall see what the rest of today brings.  ✌

As a side note, if they’re going to end the game they could at least have the decency to add the Giant Toilet I’ve been waiting 6 years for… 😂😂😂

Updated Thought: Anyone else think EA is just sitting back and laughing at everyone freaking out over what they’re doing?  They’re probably at their desks just laughing away at us…

Another Updated Thought: There’s also this to think about from Matt Selman…

  1. Let’s hope the UK government haven’t been asked to do an update! While I’m here I can’t zoom in on my town anymore (Kindle Fire). It’s making placement and building difficult as I can’t see surrounding areas. Any advice appreciated.

  2. Remember the old days of downtime for a month in between holidays…

  3. OK, little dose of reality. With so many players KEM farming and not buying donuts, I’m thinking that the income from TSTO has been dropping steadily. I fear that soon EA is going to put us on the “no longer supported” list. I can’t even remember last time I bought donuts and I imagine most of the peeps reading this haven’t bought any either. I’m too lazy for KEM farming and have so much $ stashed that I just buy rat trap trucks and sell them. Once you hit over a billion, there’s not much left to do.

  4. I don’t think the end is nigh… but if it is, I hope the game slips more into the realm of abandonware than anything.

I have several apps like that, which I’ve continued playing (not regularly, but occasionally) for years after they’ve had their last update… and indeed, for years after they’ve been pulled off the iOS and/or Android stores.

  5. Well it’s Spring break for a lot of people. Maybe EA is taking time off to be with their kids? 😜

  6. Meh… more down time just means more donut farming for me. All good…

  7. Yeh!!! Pull the flush on the Giant Toilet EA

  8. Not in full panic mode yet. If it is ending I would hope GGR would be available for those of us that missed it for one reason or another. If it pops up in store then I will be panicking.

  9. I don’t want to panic… I don’t want to panic…. PANIC!…. I don’t want to PANIC!!! PANIC!!!!!!!!!!! PAAANNNNNIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCC!!!!!

it’ll be alright.. alright… *biting finger nails* all right…

  10. I’m sure I’m the outlier here, but I’m perfectly fine with there not being an update. Finals just started.
And one has WAY too much assigned due in 2 weeks.

  11. That link in your article goes to a trivia post. https://tstoaddicts.com/2019/03/30/tsto-addicts-saturday-simpsons-trivia-dancin-homer/.

I am playing on low flame for some months now already… these last two “events” were not much more than three short events in a row. A little variety would nourish the flame, but it seems like they are reaping what they can get now.

Anyway. A perfect opportunity to bomb Springfield and restart.

  12. Fine by me. I’ll be out of internet land for upcoming vacation, I would prefer a good length lull!

  13. Thanks for the update Alissa and I am thinking they got something big planned for us with the next event and with Easter being late this year could be part of the reason we haven’t seen anything yet.

    • That’s what I have been hoping. Staving off the panic .. they can’t end the game. It’s the only really good one of this type I have found. But just in case … does anyone know of any games that are as good as our Simpsons???? But …. with Easter only two weeks away, I can’t imagine a big Easter one coming now. 😔 but maybe a really big summer one? Sigh! We can hope!

  14. I do not understand why they do not put old content in the store while the next event arrives. I consider it a waste not to take advantage of these weeks to place old content.

    • Isn’t that what the Yearbook Mystery Box is? In my Epsilon game I still have plenty to buy and quests to complete.

      • I agree with you. But my intention was to emphasize that for people who already have the content of the yearbook and were not in other events of the past, they could have had the possibility of obtaining content of these events in this week. events such as “SCI FI” and “Old West” for example. (costumes, characters, NPC, buildings).

  15. The optimist in me wants to think that EA is working hard on a game changing update that will reintroduce events that involve friend activities and game play that is different than 3-act prize tracks.

  16. Thanks for keeping us up to date in things 😊 I’m using the time to farm and rearrange some neglected spaces. It getting nice outside here little by little and I have real-world things I need to catch up on so this little break is good timing 👍

L link to me to dancing home trivia not the release date timeline

  18. Steve Stevenson

I think the case is that they are only human, that need a break just like us, they have been putting out content with no break, so I wouldn’t sweat it too much

  19. Well, who else would happily settle for another mini event now? I have enjoyed the downtime and done some reorganizing and farming. Now I’m getting a little concerned, though. It’s strange that EA hasn’t rolled out a Gil Deal or even a teaser.

  20. Curious as well. Just kem farming and sending them all to mine and monorail tasks. Thanks for your work! They are probably all working on contingencies and networking and resume writing because who knows what the evil mouse(artists hate Disney for messing up copyright) is going to do.

  21. Is this… “the beginning of the end”? 🤷🏻‍♀️

  22. PANIC! at the disco? On the streets of London?? 😧😮😬

  23. The latest update was titled “State of Despair”. Just sayin’!
(Let’s hope the developers weren’t sendin a “subtle” message there….)

  24. Keith1Roon991

    WE ArE All doomed lol.
The link goes to homer dancing quiz.

looks like the preppers were right it’s the END of time for the GAME.
    💣💣💣💥💥💥🤯🤯

Big fat wind up by EA or a Hugh update so secret that the haven’t let anyone know.
    Lol

  25. I’m not panicking – and not rushing with continuing to redo my Springfield – just waiting for new items to appear in the Vault😉

Alissa is correct, this isn’t the first time EA has left Tappers waiting for an update (will I be disappointed if there’s nothing for Easter? Not really, EA skipped St. Patrick’s, which tells me they don’t give a toss and nobody misses “the wheel” (lol) 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m not going to speculate anything, but I’m sure eventually we can discuss “what other Game App to move on to” in the event TSTO ends (quite difficult to choose, TSTO is one of those brilliant Game Apps involving world-building that doesn’t force you to compete with others and/or attack others – it’s just silly fun and you could call it a virtual zen garden) 🤔

  26. I can understand longer gaps between full on 6 week events but this is not the case this time. It is possible of course that with EA’s well publicised restructuring ongoing that maybe they are tinkering with the gameplay.
Some of EA’s less profitable games could well be axed as their no of players dwindles. I’d like to think TSTO does not come into that category.
Who knows we might all be pleasantly surprised yet.

  27. As I’ve already pointed out in a comment in a previous post, this is the first time in the last years we will have two weeks downtime. I don’t know what to think. But in the last months we’ve received several items, indicating at least that something strange is about to come:
    – Lard Lad Donuts Factory: the only building paying donuts;
    – Golden Goose Realty: a building earning land tokens;
    – Tons of new land;
    – Yearbook Mystery Box.
These last three items, above all, in my opinion, are a red flag. As a matter of fact, EA is giving us the possibility to buy land with the land tokens, even if there will be no new events. Furthermore, with the YMB, EA let us to have some more fun with contents we missed, and give to the new players a purpose, aside from the events. I don’t want to say they are the TSTO doomsday signal, but at least all this story is weird.

    • You’re looking at things from the perspective of a player who has been playing for a while, or who took advantage of things when they were available for purchase.

Remember, the GGR hasn’t been back for purchase since it’s initial release. So anyone who missed it hasn’t had a chance to get it again, including new players, players on vacation, or players who simply didn’t have the donuts to spend at that time.

  28. I am not worried. Developers deserve a few days off too. Well, you know, a few days every couple of years. That’s enough.

  29. Thanks a lot, Alissa, for keeping up this awesome work. We’ll be extremely grateful for any info you’ll be able to provide.
Being an Addict, I am compulsively refreshing both the web browsers, and the app store, but nothing changes.
Farming seems pretty pointless, since there’s nothing to spend sprinkles on: after the Yearbook, the premium characters store section emptied 😀 but I think I’ll buy some premium trees and planters, you can never have enough green 😉
I’m using this time to design, actually: when something comes, I’ll greet it.
    Thanks again!
