I wouldn’t worry about an update, can’t see that happening.
Since we have this lull in the game, I have more time to watch TV. I just finished binge watching all seven seasons of “Offspring” on Netflix. It was the best series I ever saw. It’s from Australia and the accents were so thick, I had to put on closed captioning. :). So what should I watch next on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu? Movie suggestions would be good too. I’m not into horror, super heroes or murder. Instead, I like a good drama, comedy or documentary.
I’m probably a little older than most here, but “The West Wing” was an amazingly better than I expected drama if you enjoy the drama of politics. The greatest television show of ALL TIME…is “Seinfeld”, there is your comedy. Star Trek the Next Generation is the best sci-fi series of all time as well. David Lynch is the best director…watch the original “Twin Peaks”……it is amazing……done for now.
The West Wing was really good. Seinfeld & Friends haven’t really held up. King of Queens is funnier than both.

Just re-watched all seasons of The West Wing a few months ago (made me even more antsy for 2020). Also rewatched Cheers from the beginning, and started wishing Taxi was on Netflix…so many great actors and terrific writing in one show.👍😄

Band of Brothers – WWII from Hanks that follows my grandfather’s trajectory through ETO (not explicitly but he went to all of those spots and had similar experiences); all over streaming media
Those are some that feel in that same vein but I also an an unrepentant fan of the Amazing Race. I travel all over the world and it’s awesome to see them doing things in my hotel or places where I’ve hung out.
“Shameless” is great (drama and comedy)… or “My Name is Earl” (comedy). A little older, never got the attention it deserves, but I promise you’ll laugh your butt off 😉 … I can also very much recommend “The Expanse” and “Westworld” if you are into SciFi…
Of course there’s always “Game of Thrones”! But I guess you already heard of that 😀

I just finished six seasons of “The Guild” on Netflix. It is a web series so a season is about 1:15.
Hi Tippietippie. I got Netflix specifically to watch After Life, Rick Gervais’s very poignant ‘comedy’ about life after the death of his wife. I understand Gervais might be an acquired taste for some, but I can highly recommend it (the language is a bit ripe but it’s not gratuitous).
I agree with Mike’s recommendations of West Wing, Seinfeld and Twin Peaks. As far as sci-fi goes, I’m currently watching Altered Carbon, the TV adaptation of Richard K. Morgan’s book of the same name, on Netflix. It stars Joel Kinnaman, who was in a brilliant crime drama called The Killing (highly recommended also).
Have you already watched Breaking Bad? Best written show I have ever seen. How about Rake? It’s another Australian show and we enjoyed it a lot. Another is Norsemen. It’s a Norwegian comedy series about Vikings.

Depends on what you like. As mentioned…Sienfeld is classic, I love My Name Is Earl, and by the same director, Raising Hope. I recently found Letterkenny on Hulu and am rewatching it. There’s Happy! a twisted crime drama starring Christopher Melioni from Law & Order: SVU. Speaking of crime dramas, any of the Law & Order’s are good but SVU is my fav., Bones is another good one. Animation? There’s 3 seasons of Rick & Morty avail, Robot Chicken is funny, F Is For Family is rude but funny, and Bob’s Burgers rocks as does the voice of “bobs” other show Archer. Finally I’m ashamed to admit it, but I like Two Broke Girls, and older but still based in NYC…Friends

Earl was great. Everyone paying attention should recognize David Lynch…Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire, Blue Velvet…….if you feel like reorganizing your thought patterns and messing with your brain a little, you can’t go wrong with Lynch…Fire Walk with Me….if you have the extras, watching him make quinoa(?)…and eating backwards will probably convince of the genius. Plus he voices the bartender on The Cleveland Show….I think….unless that’s been changed by the matrix.

The Umbrella Academy
‘Death in Paradise’ is one of my favorites…it’s kind of a British version of ‘Murder, She Wrote’, only it takes place on a small Caribbean island. Lots of quirky characters and a great core cast that work really well together. Not dark, like a lot of mystery shows, and has both humor and heart.
If you have Netflix 3 shows I can recommend watching are
Ozark which is kind of like breaking bad but within the world of money laundering for a Mexican cartel and star’s Jason Bateman
Chilling adventures of Sabrina which is a scarier more mature updated version of the show Sabrina the teenage witch and is brilliant.
Finally currently still working through this one myself The umbrella academy about a group of people who were all born on the same day and get adopted by a man who trains them to become heroes but neglects the role of being a dad.then it jumps forward to when they’re grown up and reunited by his death and during the investigation are also trying to stop the apocalypse from happening.
Yes! Umbrella Academy was much better than expected.👍

If your willing to spend six bucks, I recommend the ‘Acorn’ streaming network. Bunches of wonderful shows from Canada, Australia and Britain that you can’t get anywhere else. They are lots less dark and way less violent than American shows, with lots of humor and some terrific writing (especially the Australian shows). I highly recommend ‘800 Words’ as a starter. Also, the first month is free, so no commitment if you don’t like it (but you probably will). So nice to have a bunch of new non-violent/non-gloomy/non-gory shows to choose from.👍😁

Around the time this appears to have happened, I was collecting donuts from KEM farming. i was at 263 donuts, then suddenly only 20 donuts. Pretty weird.

If you consider things from the revenue viewpoint (which I am sure EA does), all the while the Yearbook Mystery Box is generating income, what is the point of EA introducing a new update? Can’t see anything happening until there is a significant drop in revenue for EA.

Just been reading about people trying other games during this down time. It reminded me that I only started playing this game years ago because my son in law suggested I would love it as a replacement for my previous addiction which had become unplayable. Does anyone remember CAFE WORLD.
Can’t say I’ve heard of that one, David. I’m currently playing A Girl Adrift and I’m hopelessly addicted. I have no idea what I’m doing (there is a very limited Help menu and I’ve found no online community at all), but I’m floating around a flooded world in a little boat catching fish and I seem to be making progress . . . to what I have no idea. Anyway, I’m hooked.
Just spent an hour sailing around the pacific(?), catching fish and completing quests. It is kinda addictive…thanks for the heads up on this game. I also have no idea of the goals, but I’m having fun getting from here…to there…and back…and forth.🦀🐠😁🐟🦐

Have just about emptied the Yearbook, and decided to build up some cash and donuts, but getting a hard “Cannot connect to server” right now. Is this the end? What am I going to do with my life? Help! There was an article about server issues across EA games…Origin was mentioned. Someone posted a link earlier last week. I’m thinking they are doing some massive restructuring. Fixing long-standing bugs & whatnot. At least I hope that’s the hold-up.
Happy Sunday everyone! So, I have a question. Patric (or anyone who can answer), you have been mentioning tennis courts instead of KEM. The only tennis courts that I have to buy are in Springfield Heights, cost the statues and of course don’t generate anything even when placed. I have looked everywhere! Or have I? Am I missing something?
The tennis courts were in the last “event” and gave a bonus – making them unusual in that you could get SH (awards i think?) and spend them on tennis courts. I think a lot of people really upped their bonuses with that method. Since the “event’ is over, no more bonus courts to be had. Sorry you missed it but maybe your town is glad it’s not full of tennis courts 🙂

Another 2 or 3 weeks and I will finish building out my Land Tiles.
Awaiting the next Event so that I know whether I need to create a ‘new Zone’ or move and redesign an existing Zone.

Been passing the time waiting for “the next big thing” in my game…meanwhile, have discovered a game called Roller Coaster Tycoon to help ease my TSTO addiction. It’s no substitute, for sure, but it gets me past my worst cravings. 😳
Built my first two coasters, one steel and one wood. It’s harder than it looks, but kinda fun. It will never replace TSTO (I’ve tried a few other games also, and they all come up short), but it’s something to do till EA decides to get back in the game.😁

I really want to have some more games that suck me in and keep me interested in a creative way. I have that game but somehow I’m a weirdo and have a hard time committing to any games that require an investment of time. I got over that hurdle in TSTO because a bunch of my family was playing or starting to play at the same time.

Like many games, I have bought it, downloaded it, started it briefly, and got overwhelmed with possibility and commitment. I’m super strange with games 🙂 I probably will pick it up again sometime!5
Don’t feel bad, I’ve probably tried 12 different games in the last few weeks and deleted all but RCT and one called 80 days (yup, Phineas Fogg trying to circumnavigate in 80 days).The rest were too greedy, too complicated, or both.😝
You might wanna take a look at “Anno 1800” or “Tropico 6”, both great town building games.
After playing for almost every day for 3 years I’ve found myself losing interest and haven’t logged in for a few days. We’ll see what happens if and when a new update happens. I know me doing this will have no effect but I won’t be watching the new episode tonight. I’ve decided to stop watching until they let us know what’s going on. I guess it’s wishful thinking that enough people will stop watching that it will make a difference but for me it makes sense.
PS I wish they would make a Bob’s Burger game.

Doesn’t really make too much sense to punish the show for the game’s boredom, if you like the show. You’d better punish EA directly: stop playing (and especially paying for) FIFA, NFL, Anthem, Apex, Battlefield or whichever EA games you might play. And like Patric said: don’t buy donuts! 😉
Been doing a lot of designing to incorporate all the yearbook stuff. I’m finding Krustyland to be a good home for the unusual things. I’ve got a Futureworld area and a Halloween area. As I add more international content I see this turning into Krustys Epcot Center (extra charge of course, not included with standard Krustyland admission!)
So I’m still happy. Besides the hummingbirds are back in Ohio, I’ve got a few feeding now outside my window!

Hi everyone! I’m finding the reasons I typically log in to TSTO are not really compelling right now: I get kicked out when I cycle my characters and/or it takes a while to go through 4x bonuts. If I even think about farming my KEM area, straight to the bart screen… And I don’t really have anything to spend donuts on anyway – so they’re just piling up.
I thought I would do something fun design-wise this weekend but I’ve had a migraine and have spent pretty much the entire time eyes closed and listening to audio books. Just got into the Vorkosigan series and it’s pretty amazing; I love finding a good series that I can get lost in.
Hope everyone is well and that by visiting my neighbors when I can, I will find inspiration from their really amazing designs. You are all seriously creative 🙂
Oh! Also, please send positive thoughts for my folks as they head to the Mayo Clinic for many many tests etc. Glad my sis lives there and can be with them.

Can you share more info on the Vorkosigan series? I have a 12 yr old grandson who is an avid reader and likes Sci Fi but it’s hard to know what is age appropriate. Would a young boy enjoy this series and would it be apppropriate for a 12 yr old, in your opinion? Thanks!
Yes! I think it would be fine for a 12yr old – I started with the first book in the series that deals with Miles himself (warrior’s apprentice) and feel like that while I clearly missed some of the initial world building, the loss is maybe not so glaring since the important bits are mentioned several times. Only two books in but so far there aren’t any scenes/tropes that I would not want a young person to encounter. Miles is not a typical hero; he’s a manipulative (benignly) young man and is fascinating for his combination of intellect with total lack of physical prowess or typical hero-type physical escapades 🙂

It can be daunting to figure out what to read first or next. I have gone with the internal chronology but started when Miles shows up in Warrior’s Apprentice.

Why does everyone hate getting vandalized so much? Who cares?
I totally agree! I have several friends with “spray paint habits” and I laugh every time I get tagged. I reciprocate…all part of the fun!
I don’t vandalize my friends unless I know them in real life. Then I do. I don’t care – I even like it! – when my friends vandalize me. My favorites though are when people roam around my town and tap things far from the Simpson house. Bindi55 almost always roams around and I like that I’m sharing more than the little cluster on evergreen terrace.
Agreed!! When’s friend taps some area of my town that I’ve been working on, I know they have seen my work. It’s a “hey, I SEE you!” kind of thing.
I do that. The reason I try to tap all over my neighbors’ towns is so they can see I was there. Often people tap where they land in my town, and since everyone lands on the same area, I can’t read all those names at once, or a dialog bubble pops up and obscures the names of my visitors.
If my visiting neighbors spread out their taps around my town, then if I miss one, I still have two more chances to see they were here. I visit people more who visit me. But if I don’t know someone was in my town because I missed the name, I will still visit, but not as much. I even sometimes still visit people who NEVER visit me, you know who you are— (stern look!) but I always hope they will come by in the future.
This reminded me of an Easter event many years ago where you dropped eggs in neighbors’ towns. My daughter was at college and we were both playing then. She would use the eggs to spell messages for me.

Ha! Leigh, my brother and I would do exactly the same during that event…although usually amusingly childish or insulting. Both in 30s at time so should have known much, much better. Happier times!
It lowers your obedience rating, or one of the ratings at least, so costs you some % bonus. You can get the rating back up by building a few training walls, but eventually if people keep vandalizing, you’ll run put of placed to hide all the training walls.
This is a myth…on a couple of levels. Yes…it lowers your righteousness level by about 1.5%. But that is spit in the ocean, if your percentage is above 200%. I just doesn’t change anything enough to move the “how many donuts can I collect?” needle.
And…… while buying a bunch of training walls is insurance…buying more if you drop is really not needed. I have tracked this several times. If mine drops, due to too many of my friends tagging me in the same two day cycle, I just wait a few days. I don’t change a thing…or buy any walls..and within a couple of days, the rating is restored.
This whole “so and so is a vandal!!” bit is tiresome, and silly. Besides… “righteousness” is very, very overrated!
Yeah. I once accidentally sprayed one of my neighbors, and now he always tags me…dude, it was an accident, get over it already.
I also accidentally tagged a neighbor and now that neighbor tags me a lot – I like that it maybe sparked a little personal connection! I do not care at all about my stars; the bonus I have is almost inconvenient given the lack of stuff to spend donuts on 🙂
I never used to worry about vandalising my Neighbours or being vandalised myself — I actually really enjoyed playing a fun game of tag. Then I discovered (via this forum, incidentally) that some people really don’t like it because it affects their bonus, so I don’t vandalise anyone anymore and I don’t expect to be vandalised in return. If people don’t like their buildings being vandalised, why would you be a jerk and do it? I’m quite happy to be in the minority on this issue.
It also appears I’m in the minority on tapping where I land. If any of my Neighbours have designs that really appeal to me, I will regularly go exploring in case they’ve added something new — but not until I’ve tapped where I’ve landed in case the game crashes when I begin to explore (and it does . . . often).
And if you’re really so keen for others to see and appreciate your latest little masterpiece, you can always stick it on Springfield Showoff or whatever.
