Treehouse of Horror XXXII Act 2 is Live! The Rundown and What You Need To Know (updated and complete)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Murky water, tress have changed colors, and leaves are blowing in Springfield, that can only mean one thing…the annual Treehouse of Horror update is upon us!  Yes, with this annual event we never know if we’ll get a trick or a treat, if it’ll be Halloween-y or spoof-y…but it arrives in our pocket-sized towns nonetheless year after year.  And this year, marks the 10th…yes the TENTH…Treehouse of Horror update in TSTO.  So what does EA have in store for us this year?  Dinosaurs!  In true Treehouse of Horror spoof style.   As always, loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up…

Remember, this Act will still be playable until the event ends on November 10th.  However, Act 3 will start on October 24th (Note the Sunday start date).

Things kick off for Act 2 with some dialogue between Springfielders on how to get rid of the dinos…

Helen Lovejoy: Dinosaurs are destroying this town…not that it wasn’t already in ruins!
Grampa: Don’t blame me. Blame dinosaur me! And while you’re at it, could you put dinosaur me out of its misery?
Quimby: There’s no need for anything rash! City Hall has contingencies for situations like this.
Superintendent Chalmers: The Springfield National Guard?
Quimby: Something with even more firepower…the Springfield Militia!
Bumblebee Man: Son solo cinco hombres en camiones monstruo!
Sideshow Mel: Translating for our English-speaking audience: “That’s just five guys in monster trucks!”
Cletus: YEE-HAW! Translating for our non-Hillbilly-speaking audience: “YEE-HAW!”

This triggers the Act 2  questline, This Means Dino War and is followed by  2hr tasks for Quimby, Sideshow Mel, Homer, Grampa, and Grampasaurus, as well as a task to collect Act 2 Currency (155), and a task to collect/tap 15 dinosaurs.  This Means Dino War is the questline that will take you through unlocking all of this Act’s prizes.

Let’s take a look at what else is in store during Act 2…

Here’s the Act 2 Synopsis from EA:

Quimby tries to handle the situation and calm the panicking Springfielders by unleashing the Springfield Militia, which turns out to just be five guys with monster trucks. The dinosaurs, led by Grampasaurus, easily defeat them. Chalmers, over Quimby’s suspicious objections, reveals that the city has secretly built and equipped an advanced military base in case they ever need to battle the Rigellians. The Rigellians are offended by this revelation, but the plan to use it against the dinosaurs is quickly embraced by almost everyone else in Springfield. Bart doesn’t have any faith this will work, and takes Lisa to the mall to try to recruit the Over Under Beast that has coincidentally recently appeared in town. Unfortunately, the Beast tries to eat them and the kids are forced to flee. Meanwhile, Chalmers has taken command of the new Springfield military by invoking a little known clause in the charter that says any Springfield military force must be commanded by a descendant of Jebediah Springfield, which he claims to be and which may or may not be true. Chalmers, wearing a mech suit, leads the army into battle and initially has great success against the dinosaurs – until all of their equipment stops working and starts falling apart. It turns out that Quimby had been funneling money intended to maintain the equipment into building resort hotel rooms at Geriatric Park because he was bored of all the other hotel rooms in town.

As I stated above, you’ll go right into the This Means Dino War questline, which is what the Act 2 story will follow. This questline is how you’ll unlock the Act 2 prizes.

The currency we’re working on collecting for Act 2…

  1. Act 2 looks like an okay act but not the strongest act for the event. It’s interesting to see that most of the prizes are vehicles since we usually get 1 or 2 vehicles in an event. I don’t remember the episode the Sideshow Mel Monster Truck was from or if was something EA came up with but it looks the coolest out of the first 4 prizes. The Future Military Jeep looks like it’ll fit in with Rommelwood and other military items. The animated job looks pretty funny since I can already imagine Grampasaurus chasing Lisa around Springfield. The Human Sized Body Bags Truck will fit in with Geriatric Park as it was from the same episode and I think it can also be used with anything related to the Springfield Mafia. The Geriatric Park Pond looks like the best prize in this act and I hope the animation has something to do with the Old Jewish Man dinosaur that appears at the pond on the screen at the start of the event.

  2. I have unlocked the animation in the prize track. However no prompt or quest to engage my pods. Anyone else know how to use them? I have Lisa and Grampasarus free.

    • I’m here with the same question!

    • David Larangeira

It’s a task for Lisa and grandpasaurus. If you didn’t spend the money on grandpasauras, then it’s just Lisa. Look under her for the task. I also didn’t spend the money. I don’t know how to farm so I hold my donuts for just stuff I really want.

  3. Anyone else really dissapointed with this prize track? 3 cars/trucks? Like I want to build a dinosaur park, I don’t want a monster truck..

  4. why is the water dark in my alternate home, but not in my regular?

    • Are you saying you have 2 Springfields?
Are you running into an EA Snafu?
(please share details, share them with @EAHelp on Twitter so that EA can fix it) 🤔

  5. It’s a bit irritating that the (nearly literal) Super Nintendo Chalmers premium character’s quest chain doesn’t display as having everyone required to complete it as busy, and therefor can’t be completed right now… Normally the job would have a red and white slash in the corner if everybody used for it was busy.

A minor bug, but it keeps catching me off guard since I’m plowing through the main chain first obviously and forget it’s bugged.

  6. I see now you have to find 15 dinos for each of the prizes unlike act 1 where you only had to do that for the last prize.

Good thing they keep springfield topped off on those dinos

    • Once you find the first 15 dinos, is there any point to tapping others? I keep getting prompts that my Springfield is overrun with dinos, but tapping them doesn’t increase $$ or XP. So why bother?

      • Because it’s fun? I especially liked tapping the criminals, because I found the sound effect satisfying. Sometimes i also enjoy tapping the dinos, but, when I’m not in the mood, I just don’t. I don’t think there’s any “reward” for tapping more than the 15, as you said, so, if you don’t enjoy tapping on them, there’s no reason to do so….just ignore the message.

That said, I don’t understand why they only require you to tap 15 to satisfy the requirements for each act…given how many dinosaurs there are and how easy they are to find and tap, why not make it 50 or something? The only thing I can think of is that maybe the number of dinosaurs you have is related to the size of your town, so maybe 15 is challenging enough for newer players?

  7. Mecha-Chalmers is a skin and not a separate character.

    • Correct

      Character Skin & Building Combo
(if Tappers want a lil’ Pandora spoof, this is it)
2 of my favourite THOH Character Skins are Count Burns and Vampire Grandpa Abe Simpson (great Visual Character Tasks).

I personally chose the Gil Deal (it just felt more Halloween – ish 🎃 ) and that Questline is very funny!

    • Yes! I bought it, but it’s disappointing. I wanted the extra help in the event, and I’ll keep buying the premium “characters” for the acts, as that’s my habit/practice these days….

  8. I think it’s fun, and I like the prizes! Thanks for the tips, Alissa! 🥰

  9. Rats Court Mall, a play on Star Court Mall. LOVE!!!! Stranger Things is my favorite show – I get the irony in being devoted to Simpsons game. I can’t wait for the Squid Game parody.

    You get a vehicle
    You get a vehicle
    You get a vehicle
Wanna Visual Character Task? (that should’ve been active once you obtained that Decor!) here you go!
Want more of the same vehicle(s)? I hear you can for 🍩’s!

😱 What is a Tapper going to do with all of these vehicles that just rev their engines and flash their lights (just like the 50 odd vehicles we’ve obtained as Prizes over the years?) Hope they come with permanent Character Tasks! Hope they maybe move on a road! Hope you have the free space for them? 😂

I think I see a Gil Deal that’s as close to Halloween 🎃 as this Event gets (so far!) and maybe a new Building ….. but most of Act 2’s Prizes look like a sad 🐼 !!

    • This has been one of those things that’s really irked me about the game for a while now. It’s not like they haven’t had vehicles that travel around on the street before IIRC, and without something like that the streets themselves are almost worthless space considering the characters just travel on the rail system that is the sidewalk.

Considering they’re doing an obvious Jurassic Park spoof, why not let us create a little electric rail system that we can have jeeps travel along like the monorail? It’d literally just be a model swap with a little extra to create a new track for them.

      • I would’ve been fine with a Jurassic / Crustaceous themed Event during the Summer …. there are THOH Segments that would work for Halloween 🎃 time (imagine if these Segments and their Content were dropped into the Game App during Christmas 🎄 with no returning Christmas Content – Tappers would quit!)

We got a SWAT Tank with Chief Wiggum Character Task, we got a Snow Plow for Mr. Plow Homer Simpson, heck we got a real swell Character Task with Ned Flanders taking Rod and Todd on a Snowmobile ride …. but yeah I’m not interested in another 🚗 or a 🚁 that doesn’t do anything (Character Tasks are essential to this Game App).

It’s worth repeating one more time, but a Visual Character Task as an Act Prize is pure L-EA-Z-Y (and it’s further proof that there are not enough Prizes for a Multi Act Event divided into 4 parts). I see a lot of Content offered up if you want to build a Jurassic / Crustaceous but it costs 🍩’s (which isn’t fair to new Tappers).

Finding and locating NPCs to Tap is fun, but when an Act is no longer Dino themed? Those NPC’s need to change reflecting the Act’s theme (a Mecha 🤖 should’ve stayed in the 🤖 Multi Act Event from this Spring , the Segment Act 2 is based on could’ve given Tappers Rigellian Bart and Millhouse with a Springfield trying to invade Rigel 7 – basically a reverse spoof of a THOH Event from years ago). Imagine Rigellian NPC’s to Tap , that would have been funny.

  11. Thank you for posting this. One minor correction: the initial tasks for Homer, Quimby, et al. are actually for 2 hours, rather than 4.

  12. So one one the prize track rewards is an animated job for a character that requires spending premium currency to obtain?
