It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons or current Tapped Out event) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

what else can I build aside from gold path (too expensive), squidport (maxed out the tiles), monorail parts (doing just to earn donuts), and land tokens from prospectors shack (almost earned enough to clear all land)?

I agree with Sandra..you can also check YouTube for design ideas. There are some pretty cool 3D designs..but I think they take up a lot of space. I did see a really cool one where the rocket launcher was in a deep concrete lined bunker.
Side note for me…All I want for Christmas is more land…hello…hello….cash for land please….I’m not the only addict ready to spend real cash for more land. I know many people don’t like the capitalist idea…but why not have the option? I can accept the idea I may be wrong, but is there anyone out there that sees any problem with this idea…to have land available for cash to anyone interested? Why …why why not?
Bunny, one of the original moderators for this site, used to do pretty elaborate 3D designs…you can probably find some of them on early posts on this site. But you’re right…they do tend to take up a lot of room. Space was a lot less of an issue in the early days, because there just wasn’t that much content yet.
Hmm, Homers Monster Hunter task wants me to purchase the Cursed Ship. Am I to be cursed with yet another unfinishable task resigned to the task book box file as I’m not blowing 150 donuts on it?
The Walkthrough on that is set to go up tomorrow but the short answer is you need at least one Monster from previous events
I got Kang and Kodos today! I was most heart broken about losing them when my old game went poof so I am truly so excited to have them back in my town.
I prefer ‘in brill’.
Is anyone having issues logging in?? I haven’t been able to play for about 3 days
I’ve got 3 games on 3 devices ( all Android based ) and apart from seeing plenty of Bart they’re all running fine
I’m on iOS and both devices keeps throwing me out and back to the home screen
I’d try Hard Closing the game and then rebooting the device.

In that case try heading to your EA account and –
check your email is verified
check your other info is correct and up-to-date
consider adding a mobile number. As well as helping recover your account if you lose access to your email you can tap Phone at log-in and use the registered number to get codes via SMS
IMPORTANT – head to the Security section and change your password. Even if you go through the motions and re-use the old one it usually helps.
Don’t forget to hit Update to save the changes

That’s the one I see most often, and usually just needs Retry.
If Bart comes back with a countdown I Hard Close and Restart ( Kill )
The most tries it took me so far was 5 in a row –
Retry, Kill, Retry, Kill, Retry and success
I will just have to wait for an update to come through as nothing is working. Hopefully a fix is released before the event ends
Have you had an iOS update in the last few days ??
Is there an active VPN ?? ( if so go turn it off before tapping )
I’ve updated to latest iOS on phone but iPad was still old operating system no vpn active
Have you tried starting the game on both devices at once ??
I’ve used the Your other device … warning to solve start-up issues
If you get both to show that warning and tap to Play Now / Continue on both then only tap one on the splashscreen when it shows you logged in it might help.
After that I’m about out of ideas, sorry

One last trick I use –
Turn off the Internet Access for your device, both WiFi and Mobile Data if you have it. You should be able to do that with the device’s drop-down menu, or edit that menu so you can.
Start the game with no internet and it gives a different Can’t connect message saying it’s your fault.
Use that drop-down menu to turn the Internet back on then give it a moment to connect and hit Retry on that alternate message.

From what I can tell the codes are broken into 5 bits that help the Devs figure what happened.
The first bit is the Update Version ( usually 4.64.5 would be the next mini update, we started on 4.64.0 but they’ve had a few goes solving problems and adding time and sprinkles because of it )
The next 2 bits – :8 then :0 here – may be fault type. All the ones I’ve had where the 3rd bit was :0 have been sorted with those Retry or Restart tips.
Those and the final 2 sets of 8 digits at the end give the Devs the full story on the server response that stopped it connecting.
I’m playing on an ipad and no real problems (outside of the occasional Bart screen, but nothing that trying again doesn’t fix). Where are you located? Maybe the server you connect to it’s having an issue? I’m in Massachusetts in the U.S., FWIW.
I’m in the uk and both iPad and iPhone throw me out I don’t even get to the bart screen majority of the time just I press log in then it throws me back to my Home Screen
I can’t login for several days now on my Kindle Fire HD 10 tablet. I get the same error code in this thread.
My 3rd game is up and running on an old 5th gen Kindle as I type. Heading to Recent Apps and swiping it off to close it if a Retry fails is all that needs when Bart strikes.
MMA Jesus I love it lol. Dialogue was great too, favorite character in a long time.
Has there been any word about Black Friday? I’m hoping for a change from the last couple of years. The same boxes with the same items has gotten old. There have been a ton of new characters over the past few years. It would be great to go back to the old way with a different character every hour and using the new characters added recently.
They only do spoiler packs for these 4 act events – unless there’s something noteworthy and new – so no-one but the Devs will know until those turn up in our games.
Doing stuff hourly is problematic because it’s an international game. 9pm in Texas seems like a reasonable hour for players to be tapping, but that’s 4am in Europe !!
Have I been playing too long ? Seems like the challenges are always the same. As long as you can set an alarm for 4 hours, you win everything. Seems like the real challenges like wacking day and others are history. Closest thing we have are hunting for frogs or trying to guess where Maggie is hiding. I think it might be time to find another challenge

The mini game for the Insanity Cauldron if you got it back in the event ( Homer’s Chilliad ?? ) – think if you get it as a returning item it won’t have the quest done bit to make that work though, sorry.
Frogs? I thought it was Turtles. Haven’t played that in years, my town is too big to look for them

If I felt the way you do I’d just quit playing. Yes…everything in this world was better in the past… but if you can’t get past it and dislike the game..then just quit playing…problem solved. I love this game.. I’m happy it continues..week after week..is it really more mundane than your real life?…if it isn’t…then why even continue to play?..it can’t be that bad if you play so much to suggest setting a 4 hr. alarm? Just to explore the town, rearrange, think of new designs, or even entire concepts for areas.. if you look for the negative..it’s easy to see. But when it comes to this great game..,it’s all good….or you should just quit. Whatever…people like you…and me are annoying as hell. I just hate it when people cry like babies…stop fn playing you moron.

Hi Graham..I’m Mike..I’m also an Addict. Thanks to A.I….The Simpsons…and oh…Kelsey Grammer…can live forever. The generated stories and voices can continue forever…actors can grow old and die…yet their voices can continue forever. If they have enough material out there…even their thought patterns can be used to generate new ideas and comic routines. Maybe I’m just hoping for a return of the Great Phil Hartman…I want new episodes of NewsRadio….even if it’s animated…no Andy Dick necessary…..reminds me of a crossword clue from today’s paper…kvetch and kvetch…4 letters…a more difficult clue than the norm…..but I don’t want to rant anymore……
Wow, I was totally with you in brill the last two sentences, even to the point of planning to come over to the site to Like your comment (which I read in email). But those last two sentences were too harsh and mean, and not in the spirit of the Addicts site!
