It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons or current Tapped Out event) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

I kinda knew this would happen to end my relationship with this game, but I’ve gotten the Bart Cannot connect to server screen. In the past, I would have to reinstall the game, but that is not an option now. I tried ea help, but now I can’t even get back to their chat. Anyone have any ideas?
Try hard closing the game and restarting it, used this more than a few time and works for me.
As KRoon64 says Force Close usually works, often as simple as opening the device’s Recent Apps screen and closing it from there.
If it shows in Recent Apps it’s probably still running in the background and likely to keep saying Can’t Connect until you fully close it.
Another I use is to turn off the device’s internet access then start the game.
It gives a different message saying it’s your fault.
You should be able to access WiFi and possibly Mobile Data settings from the drop-down menu if you swipe down from the top of the screen. Use that to turn internet access back on then give it a moment to reconnect before hitting retry.
Plan C, if you can. Use another device, even if it’s no use to actually play the game, and go through log-in on that.
Once it gives the Your Other Device warning go back to the usual device and start the game again.
It’s been awhile since I posted on this site. I hadn’t stopped playing, but my time had became more constraint in recent years. So over 11 plus years this is probably the longest length of time I played a game continuously. Now that the end is near for it, I am not sure what I will do that will fill that hole.
What are our options? Any other worthy contenders to fill the space left by TSTO?
Now that there are no events, I feel like I finally have the time to build up certain areas of the town I had been putting off due to lack of time… but now I feel like why should I bother other than the enjoyment of doing it… It is all going to away in a couple of months now.
at this stage of the game, there’s an infinite donut glitch, but involves a lot of tapping. 1600 donuts = $3,000,000. But if you buy donuts $7,500 (9 donuts) at a time. It would yield you 3600 donuts. rinse and repeat till your fingers have blisters

Paul, EA changed the rules, its unlimited now, knock your self out and have a free for all
Just speed up gods 24 hour task for unlimited. Even if you don’t have a bonus, I’m fairly sure you still make easy profit.
Just to confirm, there’s no way for us to get some characters, right? Specifically, Shelbyville Manhattan and Jebediah Springfield. Would be nice to get them now that the game is ending.
Everything that’s going to be released has been released with taps 1 to 5, no more unless EA gives us a Christmas present 🎁 😆
Call Ea tech support, they can give you the missing characters

No goals left to do after all the taps 1to5 stuff I got, 2.5 million donuts, in game cash nearly full, have put my town on christmas mode and put as many characters in festive costumes that I could find and have Santa homer flying the sleigh

I like Alex.tapped am a bit sad they don’t have a high res photo option for these towns. As this game is coming to the end, it would be great to get a full picture without having to stitch it together. I wonder if EA would do that for us? If we don’t ask, we’ll never know. It’s been fun guys.
I don’t really recommend this, but I blew up my town. I had EVERYTHING (except Mirror Stu). At least, I THOUGHT I had everything. As I dropped buildings and characters back onto the empty land, some of them arrived with skins and tasks. Glitch? The result of cheating once ten years ago?
I will never have the time to actually rebuild. Everything sits in a giant pile now, and I can’t find anything, but I do have some new/old missions to run and dialog to read.
Will there be snow?
Well that was interesting, seems this weeks episode changed titles somewhere along the line. On my PVR the Canadian station still had the old title while Fox had the updated title. This PVR data is rather on the unreliable side however.
Slowly tapping away to unlock the last of the land. Wanted to spend more time rearranging stuff in my town, but life has been a little busy. Still sad the game is coming to an end, but look to make the most of the time left.

I wanted to suggest we all RE-WATCH THE ENTIRE SIMPSONS EPISODES AS A GROUP/FAMILY. We gotta figure it out but along the lines of: checking in after each season for a recap and discussion….🤔🤷🏽♂️ Rating our #1 favorite or TOP 5-10 TREEHOUSE OF HORROR EPISODES….maybe talk about our favorite characters and why they are our favorites….a drawing contest 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ let’s keep in touch. I have been playing Tapped Out for the past 12 years and have been following the Addicts site for a decade or so. The start of this year was a challenge because I was running out of space. So, I spent a couple of weeks moving and restructuring the layout to create a bit more vacant space so I could continue to play.
When we were given the additional space back in August, I was a bit annoyed that I had wasted time clearing up the space, but I was happy to do a bit more work and start using the new space.
When I started playing what turned out to be the final round, I started thinking that this could be it, but I was wondering why they would have bothered to increase the space if they were going to shut it down soon.
I was annoyed when the final announcement was made, and the game was about to be shut down. So, I spent a bit of time re-structuring and using up the new space.
One of the issues I’ve had with the game was the quality of the pictures taken using the TSTO Town Portrait function. The best I could get before was an 18MB image that wasn’t all that great especially when I zoomed in. When the new layout was handed over the best image I could get, was 13MB. That was much worse especially when compared to the original image I put together in 2013 that was 90MB.
So, I decided to build my own combined picture using individual screen images that were approximately 702KB each.
I started using pictures that were 30×23 inches (2224×1668 pixels) then reduced them to 16×10 inches. I started using the smallest image possible, but I found that if I missed the reduction, I couldn’t put them all together. I then tried the largest and I realised I would have had to create a massive Photoshop image. So, I settled on capturing the images at the level I was when I logged in using my iPad. I then reduced each picture to 20×15 inches or 1440×1080 pixels.
About 900 captured images later, I managed to build a full picture of my own version of Springfield. I did make a few upgrades and used extra bits and pieces and reached 19,600 items (I received a warning at 19,500). My version of Springfield is probably nothing like the ‘real’ one because I have never actually watched a single episode of The Simpsons 😊.
The Photoshop PSB picture is 2.79GB (727×389 inches or 52393×28055 pixels) with a PNG version at 652MB. I also produced some smaller versions, which I would love to share, the smallest being 38MB. I’m glad to have a decent picture of the town that took me 12 years to build even If I won’t be able to change it next year.

Super curious as to why you’ve never watched the show? If you like the writing in this game, I assure you it’s even better in the actual show. And it’s harder to really appreciate many of the characters in the game of you haven’t gotten to really know them via the skow. Check out Season 4, which I still think it’s probably the best one (although they’re still doing clever things on the show even now, in their 36th(!) season.
I’m trying to build a THOH collection, but for some reason they’re not included in the re-runs over here generally and then a bunch of ’em get repeated around Halloween.
Won’t get any S36 here until next year, and they’ll probably skip the THOH and do the same with that !!

Essentially the same thing. Disney is the majority shareholder of Hulu. And I believe that you can’t see all of the episodes on Hulu, like you can on Disney+. (The reason I think that is that I prefer Hulu’s interface, but I’ve been watching Simpsons episodes on Disney+, so I think that must be why.)
The writing is best in old seasons and a couple of season 34 and 35 episodes, but the writing in Tapped Out is WAY better in my opinion than any episodes from the bad seasons (12-33)
I think that’s an unfair generalization. In my opinion, there were plenty of decent episodes during that time, although I agree that some were less good and none were the best of the run. To be fair, though, there were a few (maybe three or four) seasons during somewhere in that time that I missed, so I can’t speak to those seasons. I figure I’ll go back and watch them when the show is eventually ended and I’m jonesing for some new episodes to watch! 😄
Hi Sandra, according to Wikipedia, The Simpsons is a “satirical depiction of American life” whereas TSTO is a “City-building” game. Which explains my involvement with TSTO. I’ve always wanted to build the layout and make it as nice as possible. I spent a lot less time reading the funny conversations than I did constructing Springfield. When TS started back in the late 80s I did watch the start of the show (30 secs) and then watched the news on another channel because the timing of the show was overlapping the news. I’m also not living in the US so I was never that interested in the satirical aspect of American life 😊.
Will my game transfer to a new iPad even though it’s no longer available in the App Store?
Depends if you can back up the actual app and not just the data. Don’t have anything iOS but Apple Help might be worth a check, or an internet search on how to do it
Can people help band together to ask EA to fix the issue with missing characters please? I really want to complete this!

Like most games, you complete them and then play another, or you finish a long running tv show, consider tapped out completed. I’m enjoying completing my town and the quest lines. By your logic never do anything because it’ll end??
Why bother. All hope is gone. Death waits for all of us. Even in games. How time do have left. A few months or is weeks, don’t know can’t afford to care any long. All my love in life are falling like leaf from a tree. This game was the get way from all the bad that is happening around me. Queen and Davie Bowie saided best” Knowing what this world is about and screaming LET ME OUT!”. What when you run out of hope and you fall to shadows
I’m worried about you. Even in dark times (I have some of that going on in my life, too, right now), there’s goodness to be found if you don’t give up looking for it. And time tends to change things…bad to better (and good to worse). If things are really dark for you right now, hang in there and things will get better.
