Should I Spend Donuts On the Wishing Well & the Leprechaun?

Top o’ the morning to ya fine Tappers!

St. Patrick’s Day has arrived in Springfield!  But, with the new St. Patrick’s Day premium items that are limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can. But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Wishing Well and the Leprechaun to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this decoration and magical man to YOUR Springfield.

wishingwell_menuLeprechaun
Decoration: Wishing Well
Character: Leprechaun
Donut Price: 150 donuts
Dimensions: 2×2
Bonus %: 4% on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +1,600

Pros:
-Returning item/character from last year, so if you didn’t get a chance to get it then now’s your chance!
-Wishing Well is small in size, so it can easily fit anywhere in Springfield
-Comes with a character.  When you tap the Leprechaun he’ll run away BUT first he’ll spit out extra cash!  And if you follow him as he’s running once he stops you can tap him again, and again and again!
-Adds a nice 4% bonus to all cash and xp
-Comes with a 1 part mini quest that Cletus starts.  (Leprechaun doesn’t have any tasks, you just have to tap him 10 times)

Cons:
-Pricey!
-No tasks or questline associated with adding the Leprechaun to your town
-No Animation
-Leprechaun is hard to find in your town (so tiny!), so it’s hard to Tap (initially to earn the extra $)
-Unlike the Yupprechaun he cannot be Tapped by your neighbors to earn extra cash when they visit.

Final Thought:
Personally,  I purchased this as well.  Having not gotten it last year it was one of those items I wanted to make sure I grabbed.  The Wishing Well adds a nice 4% bonus on all cash and XP, which is more than I can say about most other premium items (and more than half the bonus % of the 300 donut whale)  The Leprechaun is a nice little bonus addition & despite not having an tasks he DOES spit out cash as often as you like…assuming you can catch him!
BUT if donuts are limited for you, I’d say pass on this one and get the Sham Rock Cafe instead.  🙂
Just remember whatever you decide this is a LIMITED-TIME building and once it’s gone, it’s gone…so be sure to get it before the event is over if you’re thinking about it.

What are your thoughts on the Wishing Well & Leprechaun?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring a little more Ireland to YOUR Springfield?  Where have you placed it in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. I tapped him 10 times, but no quest started. Cletus is free,

  2. Got it for 80 D’s yippie

  3. I like the Well, but 150 donuts is a bit steep. I wish it was half that. I thought I had tapped on the Leprochraun in other towns and got cash for it. I guess it was the Yepprochraun instead.

Too bad you can’t just get the Well alone without the bonus for in-game cash. I also wanted to get the birdbath that I believe was from St. Valentine’s Day of past year(s), but wasn’t offered this year.

Half the reason I would want this is to give visitors (neighbors) an opportunity to tap on the Leprochraun for some cash, but if that’s not the case, I may have to consider the Yepprochraun instead, although I don’t really want the building it comes with, so I may just pass on both.

  4. Not specifically about the Wishing Well, but it’s premium-related… I’ve only been playing for around 6-7 months, and I’m ready to make another large donut purchase. Does Gil come around often with donut deals, or is he typically only around at Christmas? If he’s around often, I’ll hold off for a bit and see if I luck out before the superhero event is over. If he’s only around once or twice a year, then I’m going to go for it tonight. 🙂 Thanks!

  5. I will probably buy this cute little guy because I’ve seen him in my friends’ towns, and love his little zoom! I am positive I have gotten $ and XP from clicking on him in friends towns. Although it seems like when there is an active event, I don’t get money, just XP or nothing at all.

  6. How are donuts NOT limited for anyone? There must be some secret to getting donuts really really cheap that I don’t know about. :-\

    • No secret (unless players are cheating). Only legit ways are to pay for them (although they do run gil deals for discounted donuts around christmas) or earn them in the game…

      • It seems like I could spend hundreds of dollars on this game if I wanted everything. Maybe it’s just the longer you play this game, the easier it is to get free donuts.

        • It is all on how you play honestly. The events and MAX FP have really helped in the accumulation of donuts. It seems there is always some way to get some for free. Not tons… but free is free. Overall I think since I have played… I have probably earned close to at least 2000 free donuts (that I can track). I am sure there are more, but they come and go so much faster lately for me as I use them more often for the site.

Next year bring back all of the St.Patrick’s Day items including premium items from 2014,

  8. A little help here. I have 27 donuts and I don’t know what is the best thing to buy. I am level 24.

  9. I was wondering, with some premium items bringing us these multipliers, Is there any way to figure out what your total multiplier is?

    • Easiest thing it to look at your money…then click on ONLY the $ above the Gulp n Blow (normally $100) and see what you get instead. That should help. Or…go through your entire town and count them up one by one. Lol 😉

    • When you click on your Conform-O-Meter, it shows you your total multiplier %. It’s under the stars at the top of the Conform-O-Meter dialogue box.

  10. Had to buy both, couldn’t help my self LOL
I just wish there were more decorations :/

  11. Mmm Comparitively though, the well does have an 80 donut value itself then you’d pay the remaining 70 for the little guy.

For the cafe you’re paying for a money generator/leprechaun, not any bonus :S
