So this event is HUGE. I mean REALLY HUGE. I think due to this many devices and games just can’t take the memory drain, causing lots of player to NOT be able to get in their games. 
I had an issue like this that locked me out of my B game and they had to roll it back to fix it (I guess 6000 Decorations are a bit much to have in a town. LOL.) EA is working on some patches to help. As it is too late to reach my contacts, I have to wait til the AM to get a bit more details, but…they are working as fast as they can to narrow the issues and get the patches out.
Here is what YOU can do to help. First make sure it is not something simple, like memory or WiFi issue. If the Basic Troubleshooting isn’t helping…then on to the next part.
REPORT IT!!! The more the players that call in, the higher priority it comes as they get a real feel for how many impacted. So Contact EA right away to get a ticket in. (This will also help you if you miss, loose, can’t get items and need something showing you couldn’t get in.)
POST IT!!! Go to the forums and add your name. As a cool poster I am familiar with there already started a feed, just keep adding to it please.
So go to the Forums and keep the topic “HOT” til it is fixed.
Hang in there, everyone working together will help to get this solved. I will update THIS post with anymore info I get back personally.

So now when I visit the EA help/contact us page it says 502 bad gateway. Not sure what else I can do. Mostly venting I guess.

I was finally able to get into the game on the other day had to be in a good area in the house with the WiFi
Hi all – The Christmas update hit my phone a few hours ago. It says the update is 262MB. Can that be right? I thought maybe there was an error with the game and it’s making me reinstall the entire thing. My wi-fi is broken and so I don’t like to do large updates with my cellular data, but for some reason I can’t add this update via my laptop and sync it – it says no update is available in iTunes on the laptop. That’s another reason I thought maybe this was a game error instead of a true 262MB update.
Does anyone have any ideas?
My was like 500 something. It is right. It is HUGE. This is why so many are having issues.
Currently I can play using my iphone but not on my ipad which is odd, but at least I can still play. I missed out on a couple of the Halloween prizes because I was away for a few days so am determined not to miss any of these.

Played fine early today, can’t access now as well as my three other accounts for the kids. I contacted ea they said a new update would come. I hope I don’t have to reset. I was at just under 3000 presents and about to complete 5th daily elf task. Please hurry!
So I have a different problem. When i visit my neighbours i don’t get any presents from them, hust money and FP. There are presents on their houses but when I pop them they disappear. Any idea how I can fix this? Anyone else have this problem? Or is it supposed to be like this? It was working at the beginning of the event but not now 🙁

Hi, I haven’t been locked out of my game, but I ran into a different glitch and I’m wondering if anyone has also experienced it. After Homer finished flying Santa’s sleigh he disappeared and I can’t find him. I click on cit hall to go to him or the toy workshop and nothing happens.
Has this happened to anyone else and if so how did you fix it? Thanks!

That’s a hard one as his home base you can’t store. All I can say is try to go in n out Krustyland…see if he follows you there. If not, you may need to contact EA.

I was finally able to get back into my game late last night after being locked out the entire day. I missed out on those extra 100 gifts for gates 2 & 3 but at least I’m playing again. Hopefully it will be a smooth ride after this. I’m a happy camper again, thanks EA!

Yeah, I have it on my phone too… was listening to it last night and woke up thinking others should be listening too so they can enjoy this bizarre season.
Thank you for posting this info. I have a large amount of friends that are inactive for this event and this could explain why. I’m glad I read this before deleting them.
Any recommendations as to how long I should wait to replace inactive ones?
EA says some of these players may be down as much as a week. I am seeing a lot back in today though. I naturally give players at least a week anyway.

My land has very interesting glitches! Fires burning over large sections of town that are actually glitched pieces of green fire patches, as well as spinning castle towers wherever there are flags. Rather fun to see what will be next when I log on!
If one has had perhaps had a sizable gift from a certain sub-… If you’ve cheated, where do things stand about contacting EA with problems? I’ve been locked out of the game for a few hours now, should I just wait and see if it fixes itself?
Do so at your own risk is all I can say. Outside of that…wait and see what happens. That is the downside of them, not only will they frak with your game, but when you need help…well…you see.
I shouldn’t worry contacting ea, I’ve had a few red.. Helpers myself on my A game and had to get help from ea reversing my clock back 2 weeks they don’t seem to be bothered about it…
Just got back to my game again and contacted EA! They refunded me 25 donuts 😉

Very happy to have access to my game after nearly 24 hours of being locked out. Super bummed that my game has rolled back right to the start of the event. I was ticking along quite nicely with earning presents. Now I have no chance as I have to rebuild the workshop so I will be at least 3.5 days behind.
I did all the troubleshooting, posted on the boards and lodged a ticket so hopefully ea will come to the party and make up my lost progress with some donuts – or something!

Hmm they have given me 15 donuts, don’t mean to sound ungrateful but poster above got 25 😟. Will 15 donuts be enough to rush tasks to get me back on track do you think?
They base their “compensation” off of many things. You weren’t in that phone call, so you do not know the details nor should you. Other posters may have ran into more things than you. I would just be happy with the compensation they gave you. Many times they will give nothing at all. 🙂

I am grateful for the donuts but my question was whether they would help to rush enough jobs to catch up (without investing some more).
I was tracking slightly ahead of the calendar and now have 3 days to make up. I used all my donuts in the last event and have been hoping Gil might make an appearance soon, but maybe I can’t wait for him now….just wondering
Don’t stress it on the Calendar. You will have up and down days and the more you play, the more elves, the more gifts, the more friend can drop Feds. Etc.
Mine has been down since 12-4 at 9pm CST. Had no issues prior to. Followed all the basic troubleshooting and all to no avail. Put in a ticket yesterday and spoke with 2 reps on it. It’s still in progress. So disappointing that so many of us would get locked out during an event. 🙁

Wow EA has really been terrible on fixing this issue. Got an e-mail telling me I could revert to a save on their server from the last successful login. Replied to the E-mail with when it was, 12/4, and that yes they could go ahead and do that… 24 hours later I’m still sitting here with no Simpsons. I feel like I’m giving up an addiction and going through some heavy withdraws.
I was locked out all day. Kinda sucks cuz I’m a bit behind. I did all the troubleshooting steps and nothing. I ended up contacting EA. They are aware of the issue and it is on there end. They said if it continues they may extend the event. They also said if you feel you missed some prizes to let them know to see what they can do. I’m finally able to play. I hope this doesn’t happen again because I rather earn prizes then be compensated by EA.

After getting back in did you have everything? I was able to get back in but all my Christmas progress is gone!
As far as I can tell I have everything (including the storefull of donuts I bought yesterday) so only lost time (30 hrs) and bonuses on Tunnels 2&3. First thing I did was toss a bunch of crap into storage. I’m a little scared to close the app again.
I was so bummed to be locked out of my game all day (it was crashing every time I tried logging in) because I’m loving this update. After 12+ hours of frustration and 3 attempts to chat with EA, I finally got a hold of someone fixed it by saying they accessed a back-up copy. So happy to have it working again! Although I was disappointed that EA refused to give any sort of compensation for having to miss out on so many presents, even though I asked. I lost 2 tunnel bonuses plus a day of activity. Oh well, I’m looking forward to catching up this weekend! 🙂
P.S. I’ve been a fan of the addicts site for over a year now but this is my first comments. So I also just want to say that you guys rule! All the work you do is very much appreciated!!

No issues here – thank goodness and knock on wood.
NO problems with the TSTO update. MAJOR issues with the Family Guy update. TSTO is nearly seamless. Fam guy is a constant headache.
Super bummed that I can’t access my game after working a12 hour shift. I contacted EA. Sure hope I can open it soon. 😩

Hi Mike. You will have better luck if you go to the top of the page and find the link that says ADD FRIENDS. Click that and then click on xxx comments where xxx is a big number. This will take you to the thread where people are looking for friends to add. Once you get there, go through the list and invite as many potential friends as you can handle. You can also post an add-me request of your own there, but it’s been my experience that you will get a higher response rate by responding to other people’s add-me requests.

Yeah I installed the game again checked my WiFi and still have the same issue I just need to report it now don’t know what happened all the other updates came through okay but this Christmas one is not acting right.

That it is! The day it launched, my Wi-Fi was down and I was at a reduced data speed (b/c of being over my data limit . . .) It took close to 8 hours to download! By the time it finished, I had to go to work lol!
This update was huge… But whats going to happen in events to come.? The game going to 10GB lol and u going to need to buy a device just for tap out….. 😞

Thanks for the update…I was locked out all day and just now got back in. I understand that these things happen but I feel like ea should give those of us affected some presents so that we don’t fall behind pace. I lost bonuses I otherwise would have had.

Earlier today an update hit my game, I play on the iPhone. Not sure what it was about cuz I did not notice anything new with my town or Christmas. I’m currently sitting right under 3000 presents and have 9 elves working.
Some game file changes..and Santa now has a task 🙂

Thanks so much for the update. In the three years I’ve neen suing this has to be the biggest update ever. Ive prices some lag and decided to clear out some unnecessary decor for the time being and that seemed to help quite a bit.
