Look up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No it’s…a giant flying building?! That’s right my fellow Superhero Tappers the Radstation Air Fortress and it’s hovering abilities have arrived in Springfield! For this weekend only you can defy physics and own this dizzy spell inducing building!
Now I know many of you are trying to decide if this flying fortress is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to help you decide what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the Radstation Air Fortress to YOUR Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this fortress to YOUR Springfield!
Building/Decoration: Radstation Air Fortress
Donut Price: 225 Donuts
Dimensions: It hovers so it’ll only take up a 4×4 square of space on the ground
Earns: $200, 22xp/8hrs
Bouns %: 5% (yes this earns BOTH currency and a bonus %)
Conform-O-Meter: Obedience +10
Pros
-Animated , the outer stations revolve around the center one & it floats up and down. Also, smoke occasionally shoots from the bottom.
-Because this hovers in the air, it takes up a small footprint of space in your town
-Can be placed over Springfield, over Squidport or over the water
-First item that I can remember, that earns BOTH a building payout and a bonus %. And the 5% bonus is pretty nice on it.
-Permanent 16hr task for Fallout Boy
-Looks cool
Cons
-Pricey, very pricey
-Will not earn more event currency for you
-Might feel out of place in Springfield after the event, especially if you don’t create a Superhero area
-Does not come with a character.
Final Thoughts
Premium
As odd as this might sound, since I said I’ll probably pass on the Tar Pits, I like this one. I know it’s more pricey and doesn’t come with a character…but I like it! I like that it’s got a small footprint, so I can fit it almost anywhere in town…and the hover factor is just cool! I also really like that it gives a 5% bonus AND pays out cash and xp/8hrs. So in my opinion…if you have the donuts to spare grab this! However, remember that if you’re a premium player and you’re low on donuts…there’s still A LOT more event left to go with a lot more content. So if there’s something you’ve got your eye on (Bartman for example) you may want to hold off since you know there’s more coming.
Freemium
Honestly, save your donuts on this one. As cool as I think it is…I also think it’s overpriced. And I know for freemium players donuts are hard to come by. So don’t spend them on this. Save them for something that might hit down the road in the event (like Bartman)…
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I’m going to pick this one up. However, whatever you decide remember this is a limited-time item and will disappear after the weekend. So make sure you make your final decision before March 3rd at 0800GMT or it’ll disappear from the store!

Finally saw this in a neighbor’s town, and I agree with what another poster said about it being potentially motion-sickness inducing. I don’t think I could have it in my town, even if I do think it looks a little cool (but only with a pretty big town).

Until he is released, we can only assume. EA could change it at anytime before it actually goes live. Majority of Premium Characters Cost 50-100 Clams.

Maybe they should do an event where every event currency is a slang term for money, but taken literally. Dig up clams on the beach, knead dough, harvest beans, cook gravy, grow lettuce, lasso bucks. Gangster-themed perhaps.

Its too expensive for a Premium item (@ that price? this floating / rotating building should come with a Premium Character & generate pies – or whatever Tappers need to obtain Prizes during each Issue Phase of this Event).
Tar Pits seems like it would offer more for less donuts
I really don’t want this… it’s far too rich for my blood given the return… buuuuut, I’ve got a horrible feeling it’s going to come in very handy, or even essential to have after the 24th of March in order to get Radioactive Man. I hope I’m wrong as I’m going to give it a miss.
I couldn’t resist, having received a boatload of donuts as a Christmas present last year. In terms of interactivity, the air fortress is kind of meh and kind of distracting. But it’s also cool IMHO and the 5% bonus doesn’t hurt.
I eventually plan to tether mine either over the water or somewhere along the far right side of my Springfield so that its floating-spinning bulk doesn’t obstruct other buildings too much. However, for now I’ve put it next to the HQ building, so that visitors can have a chance to see it in action.
Pricey.
I passed on this. I would have gotten the ski lift and stupid sexy flanders, but didn’t have any donuts at the time.

I wonder what it would be like to be a rich person playing this game…to be able to purchase anything and everything you want without batting an eye? *sigh*
This may be cool (haven’t seen it in a neighbor’s town yet, since my visits currently aren’t scheduled until fairly late at night), but, as a primarily freemium player, there’s no way I’m parting with that many donuts for something that’s not really iconic and doesn’t come with a character. I mean, there are so many basic things I don’t even have yet! But if money weren’t an object….
I bought it immediately without knowing what the payouts would be because I really like it. It’s different and plays into my whole super hero and Frink themes. The payouts are great. I’m a geek, so this is up my alley. Plus I was given 3 boatloads of donuts by friends for xmas, so I have lots of sprinkles to play with. Just need more land or an ability to place certain items in Kland. This is my favorite event to date. Can’t get enough.
Not that it’s important, but I believe the Ghost Ship from last Halloween also had both a payout and a bonus %. Just though I’d point that out. I bought it right after I saw it and I love it!
My theory from the beginning of the event was that Radioactive Man would be resurrected by the end of the event (this always happens in comics). What if he becomes a permanent character by only for those who bought his fortress?
I figure he’ll be resurrected also since it’s been done in the show. As for connecting it to the Air Fortress, I think it won’t matter. Too many tappers would be super cheesed off. The least they would have done is hinted at that so I think we’re safe.

If TSTO Addicts ever wants to step up their game, they should provide this type of content. I can already gather most of the information in this article just from playing the game.
It is not a matter of want…it is a matter of time, putting it together, and making sure it flows properly on top of all the other stuff we do on a daily basis… like our full time regular jobs. 😉
If you have any decent number of Neighboreenos, look for ones that appear to have a lot of premium items and scan around their towns. There’s a good chance one of them will have it.
That’s what I tend to do with pricey items, sometimes it helps dissuade me like the ghost ship or whale, other times it convinces to buy stuff I hadn’t even thought to part with donuts for liek the twonicorn. Luckily it seems most of my neighbours are completist types. This one was an easy pass for me though, I doubt I’ll bother crafting any of the Zenith City buildings until right at the end in case anything better comes us to craft so it would look out of place in my more realistic Springfield (excluding a few aliens and the twonicorn)

Couldn’t agree more. They couldn’t give this ugly thing away to me. If they did, I’d immediately tuck it into my inventory never to be heard from again.
I think the Christmas trees provide both a bonus and a payout, though the bonus isn’t advertised. I seem to recall that from the Christmas event, when my multiplier went up and I couldn’t figure out why.
Tar pits are a way better purchase IMO.
Man oh man, it’s just so expensive. $9 at boatload rates.
Still, it *DOES* look pretty awesome. There’s no denying that the 5% bonus is a great addition to it’s value. I also like that it has a small footprint, which I can place on water.

I saw it in a couple of friends towns last night… I think I’ll look at theirs for the next day or two and decide if I covet it or am content at just that.
Well… With less than I day left to decide… I still can’t come to a decision. I’ve got the money/donuts, no problem. I like the look of it. Love the money/earnings buff.

I’m a sucker for these superhero stuff. I love it! Better than the whale, ghost ship and truckasaurus. Love that it gives a payout, bonus and task! Hopefully Radioactive Man will have a task here as well! It’s just missing a sound effect when tapped to make it truly cool but love how it looks!

Seeing it in a neighbour’s town sealed the decision for me. I found it very distracting, almost nausea inducing (admittedly, I’m recovering from a stomach bug) but still….pass!

I had the same response when I saw it in a neighborino’s town. It just didn’t fit in. I wasn’t about to spend 225 donuts on it, but seeing it made me feel less regret for passing it up!
This one’s driving me crazy. I have to have everything! But I’ve had health problems that took me down to working 2 days a week and my last doughnuts went to Spider Pig and P Rex (and hunting license). I’ve only got 81 doughnuts right now but my check comes through in a couple of hours, now my phone bill is due this week and if I don’t pay it, no tapping out at all! Oh the dilemma only an addict could understand. EA should offer an AFLAC type insurance policy where if yr unable to work when a limited edition item comes out yr covered.
I have plenty of donuts to spare but I won’t be buying this hideous thing. It doesn’t fit in with my Springfield at all.

I know this is a cash grab from EA and I don’t like it and there have been several of those, however since I get everything I will buy it.
I bought this. It does look cool, but it is very big. Tried putting it in a few spots in my town, but it is very hard to find a spot where the spinning outer stations do not obscure any other buildings or decorations. I finally ended up just putting it over the water.
I like it but it’s a lot of donuts! A few of my neighbors have picked it up though so I’m just going to enjoy it when I visit their Springfields.
Thanks Alissa, very helpful post, as always. Question: I’m assuming this thing floats only over the 4X4 square, wherever you place it, is that true? Meaning, if I place the 4X4 on my Squidport, I can’t then see the station floating at the top of my Springfield. Or does the station roam around and leave the 4X4 square? Thank you in advance!
Stationary on the 4×4 square. However, with it’s size it my obstruct your view of some other building/items but only the view not the actual placement.
I like it. Wish it had more tasks with super heroes and villains. Hoping they might add something with Bart man or something else. But looks cool in the sky. It’s hovering in Simpson house backyard.
