Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Now…enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right? Time for another Open Thread!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread. The Simpsons are all new tonight, what will happen in the new episode? Issue 3 hit our devices this past week, how are you doing earning those Freeze Rays? What do you think of the prizes? Gil returned this past week and brought The Homer with him! Did you make the purchase? Do you think Herb will be hitting Springfield soon? How are you doing on crafting? What are your counts? What buildings have you crafted so far? NCAA March Madness Brackets will be announced later today, are you excited for it? Will your team make it? Who do you hope wins?

Ive known and kept an eye on TSTO news every since it came out but was only able to join bandwagon last February because it was the first time Ive ever owned an Apple device. (#PCMASTERRACE and all that for 20+ years)
I count myself very fortunate to have jumped in at an exciting time since I was able to participate during the Valentines event and now the Superhero and St. Patrick’s day events.
Anyhoo, I’d just like to ask what are the usual events we can look forward after this? Im bracing myself for when the hoopla ends and we will all be forced to return to our regular, mundane Springfieldy lives.
It is hard to say as TSTO keeps switching it up. Lol. Normally I would say Easter a possible next, but this may overshadow another Bunny Event. Only REAL standard… is major USA holidays. Christmas and Halloween being major since release. Everything else has varied.

I’m only sorry you didn’t join in the fun earlier, as an Apple device isn’t necessary to do so. (Just mentioning this in case anyone else reading this is in a similar position.) You can play TSTO on Android/Kindle as well, and even on a PC, using BlueStacks.
Hi tappers. Just a quick question are we likely to see a return of Springfield falls as I’ve missed out on this and want to add it to my town so much ??? Thankyou
People have been asking for it for a while now. So far, no signs of it returning. But you never know with EA…

Awwwww ncrosebud, thanks heaps, I had been having the same challenge, but I think a real lil’ community has sprung up from this thread, I now have so many cool neighbourinos as well, and the bonus is I get to chat with them every now and again 😉

I’ve only spotted two parade balloons so far in your town. In the upper right next to Springfield Downs is Santa’s Little Helper and more towards the middle right next to the Studios is Scratchy. Though I unfortunately hit up your town pretty late at night, half one I think, so I’m pretty bleary eyed at that point 🙂 I love the crazy gate system you have around the Barbarian Castle! Your town is beautifully placed.
(Once the Event is over Cube3dex, I’m going to let your town cycle into my other neighbours cycle so I’ll miss one day and hit it in the morning).
Please ignore my town placement :)! It got gnarly and I’m in the process of girding my loins for a complete redo.

Melbourne has been up and down, yesterday 31 and thunderstorms in the afternoon with torrential rain (I live near the coast, sorta on the peninsula, and get battered and hammered) and today 19 and sunny 😉 Just love our weather!
My Barbarian Castle has been rebuilt at least 5 or 6 times, and I have to admit, I’m still a bit not kinda sorta happy with it, but cheers for the appreciation! I keep butchering and changing it, the “parts”, especially the wall pieces are really useful, hence using them in the Zenith City area 😉 I also picked up some design tips from other neighbours, I can’t take all the credit, f’instance one of my neighbourinos had a double sorta herringbone “school wall” on the interior of their castle, and as the scheme matched I used a single with the concrete wall to separate. ..
So squee! Collider has a task to pet and snuggle a kitty! Ahh happy day…:)

I just love the proliferation of kitties recently! First as animation and now as a task. Sure we had Selma cuddling Jub-Jub (premium) but that’s not the same as a furry kitty (though I wish my cat were as docile as that lizard sometimes). Plus the image of the “evil mastermind petting his villainous cat” is a great 24 hour task (I know collider is a good guy:) but I picture bad guys more often petting cats-blame James bond and all the later parodies).
(I think this is an east coast site so sorry for late posting).

Lol… it is fine to “suggest” a request. It is when everyone starts putting actual names that it floods the posts and turns it into an “ADD ME” feed. That is what we do not want. Then you guys talking back n forth will have to constantly dig past thousands of “Add Me” just to see what each other says. It gets old fast. 😉
LOL, also as this is mid-week, pretty much only the regulars are here every day, plus the random straggler or someone who searches for some random term months or years from now! 😉

Ok Addicts, this may sound like a stupid question but what`s the best way to actually buy donuts with a gift card, on a Kindle? As in, do I need to buy coins or something first? Is there any benefit to these Amazon coins? I don`t really get them, lol..
And since I got a $25 giftcard think I should buy a Truckload then a Stack? Or a Truckload and five Golden Scratchers? What would you guys do?

Yes, you have to convert your money (gift card) to coins first. It’s a pain, but the upside is that you get a discount on the conversion, so, for $23, you get 2500 coins (the equivalent of $25). Unfortunately, you’re stuck with the denominations that they offer, so, unless you want to add an additional $20 of your own to the $25 gift card you got ($45 buys you 5000 coins (i.e., $50 worth), you’ll have a $2 Amazon credit left over. (Well, I suppose you could add $2.80 to your leftover $2 to get 500 coins, but, as you may have noticed, the larger the denomination, the better the discount.)

Also, the marketing behind this kinda blows my mind… they are coming up with such creative ways to spend my money I can hardly keep track anymore! Every time I turn around I am prompted to enter my credit card number somewhere; the fact that Amazon can theoretically get me (a customer with a gift card) to not only upgrade my ‘coins’ by spending my money, (which I wasn’t originally planning to do), but also leave me feeling satisfied with the transaction due to the fact that I got “special pricing” is, I guess why this company is set to take over the world. Or will it be Google? Tbd. I’m not saying I have no choice in the matter, of course; I actually haven’t decided what to do with my gift card yet. And I’m not specifically pro- or anti- Amazon or any other big tech company, but it seems like we should really be paying attention to what they do and how they do it because it obviously works…
I got the Tar Pits a while back. My brother put his in his “outskirts” area next to Cletus Farm and all that stuff. One of my sisters put hers next to the Buddist Temple. But, I can’t find a place that seems right for the Tar Pits. Does anyone have any suggestions of where I could place it?
I put mine next to my new Death Mountain and everything sorta bubbles away together…

I’ve been forgoing collecting the signals on my two Z City apartment buildings, because I really like setting the kitties. (By the way, I saw someone – can’t remember who – a while back posted that the didn’t know there were kitties there because they had their building facing the wrong way… Just want to let whomever it was know that the cats show up in both orientations.) But, I’m already kinda sad thinking that, once this event is over, it’ll probably be a long time until I see those kitties popping up again, since there will be nothing too trigger those buildings’ animations, except for those random times when everything just “comes alive” for no particular reason.
Ok, yeah I have to admit I am gonna miss the kitties too… wish the building would be tappable so we could tap and have them come running out!

Lol, I have spent literally hundreds of hours designing (and redesigning) my town, every single item has thought put into its placement. My Blarney Castle I threw together in 15min just to do something for St Pats day, I’m glad you like it. I didn’t plan on keeping it but I think I will now 😉
Oh – forgot to mention that I also really like your wedding venue with the bear band lol!
Hey Jebus, did a good scout around your lil’ Springfield, I reckon its a toss up between you and Tapebelt, but both of you have some great ideas, even if it does take ~30 seconds to load, its kinda cool, with an E and J neighbourinos, my poor sky fingers / thumbs are finally getting a break between tapping friends 😉

Thanks cube, personally I think that Tapebelts town is better, the amount and scale of the 3D he uses is crazy, I love it. I didn’t realise my town took a long time to load, but it makes sense. I hit 6600 items again tonight after a purge about a month ago 🙁 What device do you play on? My town looks much, much better on my iphone6 than on my wife’s Galaxy. The extra zoom out with the iPhone makes everything look heaps better, almost like a different game.
Samsung Galaxy S3, yeah she’s a little older but still suits me ok 😉

We also have an english bulldog, and various reptiles/amphibs in our little zoo. So, I’ve already been getting frustrated that I haven’t hit my 300th balloon pop yet (seems like I’m way overdue!) And, this morning, to add insult to injury, I got “5”s in all three of my balloons! That’s right, the absolute fewest number of tickets possible! I don’t really need the tickets – that’s not the point; but it was like the Sideshow You booth was just taunting me.

Bunny got in before me, Ultrahouse 2 was one of my first event items, I started way back mid Halloween 2013.
I’d agree on the confab, I think alot more people are making connections, a good example is I think 15 of my neighbours all chat here, and its probably the same for a few people reading various threads on friend swapping here 😉 Which was kinda unheard of for me, up until a few months ago I didn’t know any of my neighbourinos!
I’ve been really enjoying hanging out with the “gang” here and having some real conversations (even if the threads do get kind of unwieldy at times). I love that people are from all over the world (why do I usually tend to pick up Aussie friends the most when I’m making “international” friends online?).
It’s also nice having some neighbors whom I “know,” but it also adds a little extra pressure to my visits…I feel like I’m being “watched” more and worry about doing something to upset someone (like just doing a quick tapping at whatever’s handiest and then moving on, when I’m in a hurry, or skipping a day, when I need to adjust for time-slip). OTOH, it’s nice to be able to talk to people about their towns and to know when someone goes on vacation (or to be able to tell people that I’m going to be away, as I hope to for a couple of days in April, if my spine will let me).
@Sandra — FYI, if you accidentally tap the wrong item in my city, no worries. I probably won’t even notice if you skip a day or two either, since I’m usually in several times a day, I don’t expect to see all of my neighbors each time, and I only start checking someone’s last-played-day if there’s nothing to tap in their city for several days. Indeed, I just hid several of my neighbors — they’ll stay hidden unless I see them tapping, in which case I’ll unhide them. I also dumped a few neighbors because I’ve had them hidden in the past, pulled them out for this event when I saw them go active, but now they are back to old tricks and wasting my time searching for buildings to tap when they haven’t logged in for a week (again).
Janis – I’ve been meaning to tell you for a while how much I like your town. For one thing, you have the absolutely most elegant farming solution I’ve ever seen! Because you’ve mixed them together and set them up to look like real neighborhoods, one doesn’t even think about how there’s really a boatload of houses there. Bravo!
I like your arboretum area, too, and I liked how you placed the Canyonero and plow in a way that they don’t seem out of scale or out of place.
One question though… How the neck did you get enough capes to get three of the green buildings already??

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to all the neighbours I added from TSTO Addicts.
I stopped playing a year or so ago because my phone couldn’t support the game very well. I finally got back into it around that alien popping event. And more recently I found this site and managed to revamp my neighbour list with awesome players here. So, thanks. You all rock.
A side note as well, I know my town is a mess. My original plan was to catch up on quests and buy buildings that I wanted before expanding and reorganizing. But every time I get close they up the level cap or start a new event. Woe is me.
Just had a brainwave (yes, probably hurt 😉 but the Superhero event could have been a separate”area” like Krustyland! With the access being via the Androids Dungeon, which takes you to “Zenith City”, with minimal but different landscape, and the ability to buy more land harvesting ray guns, which certain Springfielders could do, when in costume or from the event. .. Would give the event a certain perpetuity to those that participated!
That would have been fun! In my mind im always thinking of this event as the cosplay event. It’s fun to put everyone in the skins that are rarely used and imagine them all on their way to a con.

What are your thoughts on removing inactive neighbors?
How long do you wait before removing the neighbor?
I have a few who haven’t played in a while. I know life gets in the way and it’s just a game. But I would get sad if my neighbors just suddenly up and unfriended me because I wasn’t around for a week.
Also semi-related but not. Does Facebook friends count toward the 100 neighbors limit? My Origin friends list only list fellow Origin players so not sure how many neighbors I actually have.
If I see that an active neighbor hasn’t played in a week or so, I don’t delete them. If it is someone that goes for weeks at a time often without playing, I usually delete them. It also depends on how long we have been neighbors sometimes. If they are playing everyday and doesn’t visit, I delete them.
Facebook friends do not count against the 100-friend limit. That limit only affects Origin friends.
So does that mean you could have more than 100 friends if you use Facebook friends as well?
Yes. Several people have reported having more than 101 friends in their games.
I use a combination of factors. First is how long they have been my friend. For example, I have one active friend that I made through Facebook more than 2 years ago, I would give him about 3 months of being AWOL before removing him. Second is how nice their town is. If they have no town design and all there buildings are just crammed together I will only give them a couple of days. Towns that lots of thought and attention I will give up to a month. Third is their player level. I have found higher level players (48+) tend to return after absences, while lower level players don’t. I dont see the point in waiting around to find out, so less than a week for under level 45’s and 2-4 weeks for 45+

I even took a few screen shots for future inspiration 😉 I’m very much looking forward to visiting you in the future.
Jebus – You should have seen Cube’s town when he set up a giant chess board for us to play a real chess game with…it was awesome! (Although, I lost in a pretty humiliating fashion lol!)

Well, here are some things that I noticed and appreciated…
I liked your riverway… It was kinda romantic-looking. I really haven’t done much with rivers and bridges in my town…seeing them done in towns like yours makes me want to try harder to think of how to fit one in mind.
I also really liked the cemetery behind the church and the way you situated your drive-in movie theater. Nicely done with both of those! 🙂

Kitty – Finally got a chance to look around your town tonight… My favorites there were your airport, that great camp area (just looked so….cohesive!), and the pathway to the haunted house and the great cemetery that went with it!

Aww thanks so much! I can’t take credit for the airport design at all. A while back Wookie did a post on design and I loved how he disguised the Up and Up Buffet sign and got inspired to do my own. The cemetery/Halloween area is my favorite. Just ignore the lower strip of land right now! I’m just collecting all of the new stuff from this event and then I’m going to start redoing the Squidport, coast and lower strip. I can’t decide if I’m keeping Medieval times or not because it’s so big and takes up lots of precious land. Only the future will tell because Im not a planner, i work organically and go where inspiration takes me!

Some of my neighbors are peeps I know in RL, and a few are folks who sent random invites right after I posted some things on EA’s “Answers” forum — might as well make sure everyone knows about this site. When special events don’t override the landing area, it falls pretty close to that message!
The “park” is supposed to be a junk yard. At first, I was just moving stuff to one area because I had Homer and Lisa busy and needed stuff out of the way so I could build, but then inspiration suggested that nobody else would have a junkyard, so I might as well make one.
The tower — or pyramid? — goes with the Rigellian compound. You’ll notice the bounce-house is within the compound, along with the BBQ. If I have Kang read How to Cook Humans and send a bully in to the bounce house, I can imagine that the next step is the BBQ and that Kang is making Shake and Bake! (Sorry, couldn’t resist!) 🙂
Curved paths are a work in progress — thanks for noticing them!
Be sure to check out Springfield Elementary — the only primary school anyplace where nuclear cooling technology is part of the curriculum!
Sandra, you’ve put a lot of effort into your Springfield — I am a big fan of visual gags, so having Death Mountain right behind your Calmwood just makes me giggle! The attention to detail throughout the rest of your Springfield is just amazing too: flowers, trees, shrubs, and other decorations all make your city look like it belongs in a “Springfield Showoff” — um, Alyssa, when’s the last time you did one of those?

Always gey a chuckle visiting your town E, I had tried to do a few tongue in cheek jokes (I had Chalmers car parked at the Skinner house until recent shuffling, the three-eyed-fish balloon on an outflow from the power plant…) but with so much content recently its been a task to do the minimalist-tetris-shuffle!

Finally back in the game and all neighbors have been visited (except those who didn’t visit yesterday). I liked another addicts comment about having a thread just for daily visitors. Don’t know if it is feasible, but would help. Just saying you play daily doesn’t mean much. It is frustrating when I ask for neighbors that visit daily ONLY and get tons of invites. I add the amount I need and visit them promptly. Some visit within 24 hours and some wait a day or two. DAILY MEANS DAILY. If you can’t do that, then don’t send a request…that simple. Or even worse some that some write novels about how they want daily visitor and wont accept anything less. We become neighbors and almost 24 hours later…NO VISIT. Yet they play almost all day (I check) and manage to make posts. I lost a few neighbors a couple months ago when I lost my father and uncle. Other than that time, I visited daily. I am a great neighbor. I visit daily. I scope out your WHOLE town to find something…not just where it opens. All I want is the same especially during an event.
Personally, during these special events, I try to visit everybody once per day and in alphabetical order.
If I notice somebody has been absent for awhile, they get unfriended and I add someone new. That new person may not fit in alphabetically to be visited that day.
I used to do that or half in the morning and half in the evening. Now I do all but 10 or so at one time and the rest at a later time. Those are the ones added to replace others. I have 97 neighbors at present. It takes some time, but leaves the rest of the day free to clear handshakes or whatever we are clearing for an event.
When I add someone, I try to visit them immediately. If they sent the invite, I visit as soon as I accept, but if I sent the invite, I might not notice they accepted unless they visit right away, but I’ll definitely get to them when I do daily visits with my other neighbors. Usually, I visit ALL my neighbors in one shot (takes an hour or so), so new neighbors definitely get at least one visit fairly quickly, but their second visit may need to wait extra time to get in sync with the rest of my neighbors. Of course, the other issue is EA’s insistence on waiting a full 24 hours for each neighbor, which means that visiting time creeps later and later until it cannot be sustained any longer, and then there’s a day it gets skipped. My schedule just doesn’t permit a consistent time each day for neighbor visits, so this makes the visit-time-creep more pronounced.
The ol’ timeslip delay, I started this event tapping neighbourinos at 8ish-am, I’m now at 11pm dreading the reset (I miss out on 2-4 hours! ). With the alarm bell notification turned off, I must admit I have not immediately responded to friend requests, but do only schedule them into my usual tapping time:)
I am a daily player (even more religiously during this event!). The only time I lapse in the daily visit is if in 24 hours I’ll be asleep. So let’s say I go to sleep at 9 pm for work Mondays through Friday. If I visit you 10 pm on Saturday night I probably won’t visit you until Monday afternoon after work (or earlier during work if I have spare data heh heh).

Ah yes, the whole scope search. I find people don’t usually bother checking Krustyland if you are looking for those last few taps.

As a freemium, I’ve been regularly visiting KL, just to get that 300 pop bonus, and try and tap every 2-4 hours (if you’ve been keeping up with my posts, yes, I gave up sleep :), to collect XP and maximise the glowy bonus. Can you tell I’m aiming for a preemium item? Go Spider Pig!
I only have 2 or 3 spots free, I’ve added so many neighbourinos from thos thread in the past weeks, but when / if you have a spot free, you’re more than welcome 🙂
Here goes, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. A few days ago there was an update which didn’t add anything, but now I see something about a St Patrick’s Day update and donuts? The update removed my friendship level 16 prize, removed my Batcave and reset my friendship level to 15, it is almost as if the game glitched and restored before the new Friendship level was released. I have reported this to EA but have not heard anything from them. Did this happen to anyone else?
If your town rolled back, try some basics to see if it will restore. If no troubleshooting helps, then reach out to EA to make it right.
We get a St. Patty’ s update and now I can’t get into the game. Surprise surprise!!! It’s time for me visit my neighbors. I will get to You when I can get back in the game.

I would love some opinions (from moderators and fellow TSTO community members alike!)
So I’m a (now) freemium player. (I’ve purchased some donuts in the past, so I have some premium characters and objects in the past, but I think I’m done spending real currency for the time being)
I’m sitting at 62 donuts (ok, now 82 after St. Patties Day Bonus) and I’m interested in Bartman; Do I go for it?
-I did read the Addicts articles suggesting Plopper/Silo might be better than than Bartman if given the choice between the two, if I can make it 100 donuts, is Plopper better than Bartman? Is either a good buy at the end of the Superhero Event?
-Before I jumped on Brandiine (totally worth it!) during the Valentine’s special, I was aiming for Lurleene (I do have the Open Air Stage, having a 12 hour task would also be nice for that venue). And then level 50 brought us Jessica Lovejoy and some seemingly awesome outside tasks.
I guess my real ask of my fellow Addicts: If you’re sitting at 82 donuts and are freemium, how would you rank the following:
a) Bartman Skin @60 donuts
b)Plopper/Silo @100 donuts (if I can make it to 100 donuts before the event ends)
c) Lurleene/Beer-N-Brawl @140 donuts
d) Jessica Lovejoy/Residence @180 donuts
e) Save all the donuts for something else.

Bartman and Plopper are limited time items, so likely not to return at all or not for a long long time.
Plopper is a better purchase to many as he is his own “Character”. So you can use HIM at anytime. Where as Bartman requires a man use Character, Bart, so you have to go back n forth between the Character and his many skins. I feel that is why many say one over the other.
The others are part of Levels and here to stay, so you can earn up to get them at a later time if you so choose (MAX out those FP and Neighbors to get some earned up again.)
My main saying is this… 3 months from now… will YOU still be happy with the purchase? My thoughts on it anyway.
Funny, in the next comment down (before I saw this one) I was just saying that having reached enough for Bartman, I’ll hold out and try to get enough for the pig.
Ultimately, it’s what you want in your Springfield that matters the most!
i was the opposite actually. originally was saving up for spiderpig, but when bartman and the bartcave were released, i used my donuts on that instead. now i don’t really feel inclined to buy plopper and that strangely phallic silo…
as others have said, get what YOU want. monetary value means little in this game if the item lacks sentimental value for you. i grew up watching simpsons as a kid, so for me a character/skin like bartman holds way more sentimental value than an animal character that wasn’t introduced until the simpsons movie, which i have yet to even see. the fact that it was my first premium skin for bart made it all that much sweeter.

I always try for limited content when it’s available, and I was originally aiming for Bartman too, but have been swayed by saving for Spider Pig. I’m on 88 sprinkles, and haven’t done my friendly tapping yet (have all FP content). And I should have a few days donut mining after getting the Collider, but all in all it is a separate playable character, which also will complete a set and increase these characters payout.

I think my background as an RPG player makes me tend to min/max my donut purchases. In that case I went for Plopper/Silo right away since I don’t believe there is a building/character combo that cheap.
I’d rank Bartman on the bottom because he will only be an aesthetic boost.
As most people will say, it ultimately is based on your preference.

I can’t speak for Cube, but it guarantees that I’ll at least get Bart’s costume, but now I’ll wait and see if I can get to Spider Pig instead, since I’m not likely to get enough donuts for both, and Spider Pig is a whole new character.
Up to 88, pretty certain I’ll make it, especially with friendly donuts and a few days of ray gun mining (at ~50k so far). Cheers for asking! As much as I’d like to get Bartman but I think it’s asking too much 😉

Good to hear even premium players still struggle for those goals, please don’t take this the wrong way but it makes the carpal tunnel world of freemium a little bit worth it!

Anyone who has Death Mountain want to share what you’ve done with it? It is…big (and ugly haha), and I’m struggling to decide what the heck to do with it in my Springfield!
As a freemium, I don’t have the sprinkle mountains, but have been playing and avidly enough to have Satan’s Anvil, and have them side by side next to my ‘Springfield Forest”, in between also my Stonecutters compound and Zenith city division 😉
I put mine behind the Calmwood Mental Hospital….figured I’d give the paranoid something to really worry about lol! 😉
