Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

I accidentally sent Apu on his 7 day task, so left him doing it. I now cannot continue my task for Marvin (without cancelling Apu’s). The window makes me laugh a lot! Greyed out at the bottom of Marvin’s task list is “Sit in Silence. Requires Apu”. If you can’t see why I laugh at that, then you are a better person than me.

I’m glad I made some peoples day with that one! It sure made mine.
So I had to work the graveyard shift tonight (8pm-6am, it’s now 5:30am) and there honestly wasn’t any work related things for me to do. So, I decided to spend a little time on TSTO. I have wanted a train line in my town (more and more of my neighbours are making them) for ages but didn’t have the space since I wanted more than just a single straight track. I wanted a scenic tour with stops, corners and views! So tonight I spent 6 hours on it. Best thing is I was getting paid too ;). Anyways my first version is complete, I would like to share a pic but it’s too much hassle due to its size. However, I know many of my neighbours read this thread, any comments/suggestions? I was extremely limited in placement options as I didn’t want to change my town, just add to it.
I should add that a majority of the six hours was spent keeping my total item and count the same, just under 7,000. Now that was a challenge 😉

good stuff bro. and i hear you about the challenge… frankly, it’s becoming tiresome choreographing my steps to this object count we’ve been dancing around. because of it, i’ve been a bit jaded regarding what to do with all the monsarno crap we have coming in…. #virtualworldproblems
Yea tell me about it. Every space behind my buildings is barren, I have strategically removed 2-4 items by placing a larger single item in front everywhere I could think of, I have added walkways and rivers, I have rotated buildings (so they cover a couple extra squares behind them). I even regularly spend 30min rearranging a whole area just to remove 1 or 2 items. I am at a point now where I can no longer remove items without it being noticeable and I hate that. I ended up biting the bullet last night and increased my item count to 7045, there is a handy warning box at 7050. I still have had no performance issues and am happy to increase it more but I worry about my neighbours :(.
I am a bit of a tech junkie, I like having the latest device. I even pre-ordered the Apple watch. Sure I never have money but everything always runs so perfectly 🙂

Cool, glad to hear it’s fast for you now too, my bro was saying the same thing. Everything loads super fast for me as well, so it definitely seems like ea beefed up the severs at the start of this event. Sure hope they keep it this way…
Tapebelt, thanks for the neighbour request – I had a good look around your town. Nice work! There are so many areas to admire, I’ll have plenty more looks trying to get some inspiration. Really good.
By the way, it loads just fine for me too – not noticeably slower than any other town.
6 hours straight?! All I can say is Wow! Good for you! I haven’t done my neighbor visits yet today but I always look forward to visiting your world – i’ll try to remember to come back and comment when I’m done… I’m sure it’ll be just as impressive as the rest of your town…
Apologies neighbourinos, rennovations, upgrades, shuffling. .. accommodating for new Monsanto…-er, Monsarno ville 😉 trying to create a new 2 x 4 land blocks free, nearly there!
Ok, figured the fence/wall combo, bought 4 more land blocks (still have ~$8mil / 29 sprinkles) and have adjusted for what seems to be the Monsanto ville, with minimal adjustment and looking to accommodate a bit more farming with the Simpson homestead.
I know, I’ve separated and tried to isolate it from Springfield, most of my event areas end up this way. Easter/Valentines/St Patricks/Lincoln have been condensed, but right next door to my education area 😉

My bro needed some more neighbors, so I wanted to refer him some of my more reliable neighbors. If you don’t wanna add him because he doesn’t post here or are full up already or whatever, it’s all good and i won’t drop you for it, hehe. He does play daily though, and I can guarantee he’ll be a productive neighboreeno. So yeah, just wanted to give you guys a heads up if you see a friend request (his id will be obvious) come your way… And if you don’t, it might mean you need to get your game up! Haha jk……..

also wanted to thank all my neighboreenos that have been steady dropping seeds in my town. i just unlocked the ability a bit ago, so i’ll do my best to reciprocate once i start racking up these seeds (which have been slow going… all of zero have popped out clearing mutant plants in my town).
I haven’t reached that point yet either…am playing layer than usual tonight to get there before going back to visit neighbors.
But here’s a question… So, earlier this evening I did my “one tap” thing, so I could go back and do my neighbor visits later this evening, at my leisure. At the point when I did those first taps in each town, I hadn’t reached the event’s neighbor stage. I’m waiting to get to that stage tonight and then I plan to go back and do the remaining taps inn each town. But when I do, will the towns now be in “event mode,” or did I freeze it for the day in “non event mode” amen I did the original taps?
I guess I’ll know soon!
So, here’s the answer to the question I posed about what would happen when I went in to finish my neighbor visits… I saw that, in fact, the towns had changed to “event mode” (except for the towns of players who hadn’t upgraded yet). But then I was confused, because my taps on the mutant plants weren’t earning spades, until I realized that it was probably because I had used up my “first 90 taps” earlier today when I one-tapped through the towns! So it looks like I out of my neighbor visits for nothing (other than the “experimental value” 😉 ).
If you want, you can get him to send me a request – swisswavey42 – I like to think I’m a good neighbour! I’ve got a couple I need to drop because they seem to have stopped playing.

FYI I do travel a bit for work and cannot play the game during those times, if that changes wanting to be my neighbourino…I totally understand; otherwise daily player level 51, hit up my neighbours a-z redesigning my town so it’s a bit of the shambles. 🙂

I understand about the business travel and am willing to give it a go, regardless, at least for now. But, when you’re not traveling, you do visit daily (or close to it), right?
As you’ll see, my town isn’t fancy (no 3D art or anything), but it’s pretty logical and neat and I think there are a few nice aesthetic touches here and there (and a couple of wry touches, too). But I’m always interested in what others think of it! 🙂

Yes I’m a pretty dedicated player 😉 Head down and through my 100 neighbours every day. Exceptions being: circumspection during work trips (late 30’s and all in the Industry playing apps is a bit frowned upon) and last year I skipped off some (example -only visited 3-5x a week versus the full 7) when my mom was under the weather and there were hospital stay overs (it felt strange to play apps when Mom was sick, just completely wrong actually). I do by accidentally vandalize!!! I know this is a hot button topic. My wrists aren’t what they used to be 😉 and catching dang sideshow bob has become a bane upon my life! Lol just joking. Enjoy the new event! So excited to finally get a proper Sideshow Bob!

Alas for some reason (EA tactic?) on my work ipad it redirects too many times and my Safari browser freaks. I’ll be syncing my iPhone to update my music selection soon on the home laptop (need more David Bowie and I’m still on my Rammstein kick) and I’ll futz around there and hope to see the download date like @tapebelt suggested. Any and all music suggestions welcomed! Our tastes are eclectic to say the least (though the one genre we are not particularly fond of is r&b). For sure know some of those but never heard of PWEI or SNOG. Exciting! Die Krupps has a great Metallica cover album weirdly enough if you like that. Frontline Assembly has a couple of great ones but you’ll have to wade through the denseness to find them (Barcode is one that comes first to mind). Youtube the heck out of Rammsteins Volkerball concert if you haven’t already 😉
I’ve been a lifelong Bowie listener (older brother is 12 years older so we got a great early education). If only he would tour again! Small Plot of Land (from Outside) has one of the best forward/driving beat I’ve heard but it’s a later Bowie so he pops in with some weird vocals lol.

My first concert was David Bowie! I was actually there to see the band that opened for him, a little group called Nine Inch Nails who eventually made a pretty big name for themselves… I remember we left the show early cause we didn’t know bowie that well back then and my dad was waiting in the parking lot, but when we finally got out there we heard the opening notes from ‘Under Pressure’ (way before vanilla ice) and we kicked ourselves for missing it. Ah well. Still pretty proud that he was my “first” (well, David AND Trent to be fair!) My second concert, ironically enough, was the next night when I saw the Beastie Boys open up for the Ramones – I have to say that was probably the most epic weekend of my young life…
If I could only get one would you friendly tappers reccomend Florence of Arabia or lugash’s gym? Who has the better outdoor activities? What’s your opinion?
They’re both kinda on the same length. Their outdoor activities are both kind of a let down. I guess between the two I’d go with Princess K, since she’ll have some extra dialogue with Freddy.

Sandra, it’s a small dog with a costume — funny when you know it’s a prank, but it would be creepy if that little dog came running at you in the dark some time. Especially since the little dog is never heard to bark and give away the prank!

We’ve always been a written blog. We did 2 Youtube videos for our anniversary. We’ve contemplated doing more, but we all have a lot on our plates right now that it’s difficult to do a YouTube video, plus write posts and still have lives. We’ll try and do some more in the future.
For what it’s worth, they do post video clips when new episodes of the Simpsons are scheduled to air…
OK, here is one for the tech geeks. I have never received a friend request.
I know they are in the queue because I put a comment in ‘no vandal thread’ and the number in the lower right hand corner went from 43 to 68 today. But when I go to the handshake there are no ‘Friend Requests Received’ on the FRIENDS panel. Is there some privacy check box or something like that that I am missing? All my friends I got by inviting them.
Sometimes the game is a royal pain when it comes to adding friends. Try using the Origin Desktop, that should help you approve

Craig (hey neighbourino), due to these syncing issues I’ve also had endless challenges trying to add specific IDs, and when it finally accepts it can be (and I know this may be due to the friend) days before being added.
Being a more prominent poster in the last few months, I’m now regularly getting 2-3 requests every fortnight, and have a queue waiting, I too have a couple of recalcitrant and inactive neighbourinos.
Craig, are you at 100 friends, including any that are hidden? Might make a difference.
I have 97 friends and ‘Other Springfield’. I have never been able to get above 98 and I have never seen a friend request from someone else. I have gotten all my friends by inviting them to join me. Nothing is hidden.
Use Origin Desktop Manager to double check.

I have Jessica Lovejoy and I completed the quest that opens up her 4 hour task, I’ve sent her on that job many times in the past weeks. Today I tried to do it and noticed it’s locked and says quest needed. What gives?

The 4 hour task is Heckle Fat People, which of course is terrible, but it’s Jessica.
Ok just making sure it’s still the right task showing locked. Only other thing I can think of is contact EA and let them know what’s going on. As long as you’ve completed the entire questline it should be unlocked. Storing and replacing the Lovejoy Residence should have corrected it…next step is contact EA

I’m trying to figure out when I started playing this game (sushi dinner rides on this bet and I want to win:). Hubby says June/July 2012. I say earlier than that (maybe April or May-after it was re-released to the App Store?).
I’ve tried Game Center on my iPad; Tapped out isn’t even listed.

That early in 2012 might be out of the question. Very few people played prior to August/September 2012. (it was released early 2012 and then quickly pulled off, and didn’t return until late August 2012. It was pulled from the app store in March of 2012, and completely pulled off the servers in June. So no one could play it at that time)
Easiest way to tell is..what was the first event you participated in? What do you remember getting? The other thing you can do…if you created an origin account early…is go to Origin.com, log into your account and when you go to the about me it’ll tell you how long you’ve been a member.

So Hubs and I are both wrong! Lol. I’ll take him out then since he’s closer in time. I remember starting during a heat wave here in LA…but that feels like always nowadays. I do have Springfield falls but I cannot really recall anything earlier than that. I have a vague recollection that it was pulled from the App Store so I maybe had it downloaded already? It’s been too long now; I feel old 😉 😉 ;). I played anonymously for awhile too but I’ll check out origin.com.
I had NO neighbours until this site came along (no FB so couldn’t hook up with neighbours that way) (btw thanks to this site I have some of the best neighbourinos with some awe-inspiring layouts!)

Love nigiri! The simple fish on top, rice on bottom so one can really taste the fish (very little soy/wasabi-though I love them). My favorites are fresh water eel (though my mom remembers having to catch eel back home in Norway and now refuses to eat it), albacore, fatty tuna, white fish (it’s just called white fish at my neighbourhood joints) and I love salmon collar! I’m not fond of the salmon roe (never tastes fresh) and I’m hecka allergic to quail eggs. My hubby grew up in an American, non-fish eating home so he likes the more layered up sushi, full of crispy bits and other non-super-fishy stuff. He’s a trooper though! The first time he met my mother I served tail-on shrimp cocktails (he had never eaten shrimp until then) and he ate the crunchy tail shell! I thought he had just hidden the shells in his napkin instead of putting them in the bowls I provided lol.
Coming from Norway fish is plentiful and I had never even conceived that some people don’t eat seafood (sure shellfish-Judaism forbids-my grandparents never touched pork or shellfish–but Hubs is a lapsed Catholic-fish sticks broiled to an inch of their lives on Fridays as a kid–turns that was the only fish he’d tasted until we started dating).
Luckily LA is immense and we live in a super walkable area that has two great sushi places not far away. (Fun fact:LA proper has a population greater than ALL of Norway)

haha great story about the shrimp shells, just goes to show that we men can be troopers if it’s worth the effort! might i ask where your man grew up, as i find it hard to believe it was LA if he had so little exposure to seafood? and i just wanna say it’s nice to meet a native norwegian! i’ve had the good fortune of working with foreign students from all over the world, including euro countries like germany, sweden, france, italy, etc, but never from norway. in fact, at the risk of sounding ignorant, my knowledge of your home country is limited to fjords and Tommy Tee… have you heard of him? i think if you know anything about hip hop in your country, you will know that name. i listened to his 1998 album “Beats Bonds and Beliefs” a lot back in the day, and even still got it in my google music library for whenever i feel like some instant nostalgia….
now, about that sushi! i love that you love nigiri! i won’t lie, i like me some layered up, imitation crab and avo filled inside out rolls when they are done right. but as you say, when you want to really taste the fish, nigiri or straight sashimi is the way to go. and i actually hate that fake horseradish mustard mixture they call wasabi, but have been known to use a generous amount of (low sodium) soy sauce for my sushi, which we appear to share similar favorites, particularly the toro. have you had negitoro (diced green onion and fatty tuna)? might be one of the best combos known to man! i’m also a big fan of albacore and grilled unagi. also really like salmon belly (melts in your mouth!), tai (red snapper), hamachi (yellowtail), and good ol maguro (bluefin tuna)… though we’ve tried to be mindful of how much of that we’ve consumed in recent years, due to its endangered status. the wife is japanese, and her favorite is ika (squid), which i’ve tried numerous times, but will never prefer over its fried counterpart. but to each their own right? heh like my buddy at work, who has never tried, and refuses to ever try, raw fish… yet has no qualms about eating a footlong tunafish sandwich from subway at least once a week…. *smh*

@Sliqstream — LOL, I answered this about three hours ago while I was reading yesterday’s posts, and hadn’t seen that it was asked again today, and everybody else answered already. Oh well.
I was September 2012 because the Halloween 2012 event started fairly soon after and was my first event. Probably the game’s first event too.

The other Springfiled shows trees planted on a median formed by bulding two roads side by side. Is this possible? I built like this, but it wont let me plant the trees there….
There are things in there you may not be able to do. If you want trees or other items by roads… you CAN make the squares around a square patch of green. Just place one at a time. Like a game of tick tac toe
I’ve also noticed some items that can “only” be placed on grass can be placed first, then concreting over it….
What level is your “Other Springfield” at, and what buildings are near the median you are referring to? I looked around my “Other Springfield” but was unable to locate what you describe.
Some things it only lets you put on grass, not on pavement. But once you’ve put them on the grass you can usually then put pavement down to replace the grass and the items are fine with that. Maybe that’s how you do it.
Where is my mr teeny?!??! Krust don’t even have a task to walk mr Teeneteeny now!?!!

I am getting a little motion sickness from the friends menu while sliding the screen to the left and right to access the next set of three springfields. I think one problem is that the rendering blurs to images and my eyeballs are trying the track the motion as its going across. They also have this automatic stickiness at each screen that creates a visual jolt. I think EA should make the friends menu have more typical scroll dynamics– something with inertia and slingshot only at then ends. They could have some kind of progress bar that shows how far you are in terms of the whole list.
Or maybe I have too many people in my friends list.
Instead of moving through your friendvilles by scrolling through the menu, just use the arrows in the upper left when you’re in any friendville to move from town to town! 🙂
this happens to me too… yes I usually go directly from town to town… but sometimes there are a few neighbors that were not tappable first time through (rage against nubes! lol… or they are not playing much now…) and so I scroll through the 3/swipe list on my next pass. I look away or close my eyes while the next 3 load so I don’t get dizzy! but yes… I wish they would fix this too…
I was wondering about all the characters that were voiced by the late, great Phil Hartman (Troy McLure for instance). I’m assuming it’s like the Marcia Wallace discontinuation of Mrs. K. Is EA doing this out of respect to Phil Hartman’s family or is there a legal precedent?
P.S. A monorail would be lovely.
All voices have to first go through to get OK from the main owners of show… Like Matt, FOX, Gracie, FXX… then once they are OK with it… on to the Owner of the Voice rights. So his Estate. All along the way, anyone can fight it and say no and legal shuts it down.
Hello there, all. I’ve been coming to this website for a little bit now but this is my first time commenting. I would just like to quickly say thank you to whoever is running this site! This place has been so helpful whenever I am looking for some information on what is going on whenever we get a new update. Also, I am absolutely blown away by some of your Springfields! I thought mine was looking all right, but I can’t hold a candle to some of the ones I have seen on here. Absolutely amazing.
Now that I have gotten all of that out of the way, I will get to the reason for my first post on here. Has anybody else lost Mr. Teeny in the newest update? I unlocked him a while back and have been mostly using him for his 12 hr with Krusty, but now he’s gone! He doesn’t show up when I am clicking through my characters and I don’t see him anywhere wandering the streets of Springfield. Has anybody else had him disappear?

Mr. Teeny is not missing…he’s not an NPC. Meaning he no longer has a task, so he won’t come up on the character list in the top left or Town Hall. He’s just roaming around your town, so you’ll have to search for him.

I’m looking to rearrange my town a bit, but there are a lot of items to move around. What are the ramifications of storing everything(the nuclear option)?
The biggest issue is anything that has a level (like Clash of Clones castles) will go back to Level 1. Also, there’s a chance some decorations could go missing…but that’s about it.
I recall reading a post on the demographics of TSTO addicts and their favourite characters from about a year back. Can we have something along those lines again? Will be great to know how things have changed since then.
Our profile posts? We can do something like that again, but I honestly don’t think it’s changed. We’re pretty classic and set in our favorite character/episode choices.
Has anyone else noticed that all of the stonecutters now earn like premium characters. Homer, Chief Wiggum, even Number 1. All of my stonecutter skins are now premium characters. Definitely not complaining but just wondering if this has happened in your towns.
That happened during the Stonecutter black market sale a few months ago.
I know we never know what EA will do, but think there’s even a slight chance of stonecutters coming back? I’m missing Jasper and Disco Stu’s skin since I was not high enough level at the time to unlock them, so sadly, missed them as free.
If it does…not for a while. It just came back a couple of months ago (although everything was premium). Usually there’s at least a decent gap between the same content coming out. I do not think we’ll be seeing the same event again. If anything it’ll be a sale. So odds of you getting them for free are slim to none…just my thoughts.

The weather here has been pretty good lately. Unfortunately I’ve been too busy to be able to enjoy it much either. That also extends to playing TSTO at the minute, so apologies for sporadic neighbour visits. I’m managing to at least sign in once a day to clear handshakes.
