Due to POPULAR request….we’ve moving up our open thread time so that our friends outside of the US can participate too! Let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Now…enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right? Time for another Open Thread!

We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread. The Simpsons are all new tonight, what will happen in the new episode? The Terwilliger Event hit our devices this past week, are you enjoying the event so far? Sunday Night Baseball tonight features the Reds at Cardinals, will you be watching? NBA and NHL playoffs are both in full swing, how’s your team doing? Do anything fun this weekend?

I guess it’ll be hard to have an event that lives up to the last Halloween event, and the Superheroes one.

I know what you mean by the cosy feeling, it doesn’t matter how much work you put into placement and homely town structure, with so many creative minds TSTOtapping it can be good to settle back into familiar surroundings after the blur (especially during events) of tapping through neighbourinos 😉
Yes, much as I’m ultra-impressed by the creative minds out there and what they have done, I’d still rather ‘live’ in my Springfield – which was always my goal: to have a realistic town that people would be happy to live in.
That might change after some more time playing though.
I have Neighboreeno’s whose Springfield designs blow mine out of the water (and I love that about them) but I tell myself each to our own, my little town makes me happy how it is. The parts that don’t have much decoration yet mean I’m not yet convinced on the layout or waiting for inspiration, land or buildings I haven’t acquired yet (that’s a lot of yets). I don’t get quite the same feeling returning to my Springfield from visiting Neighboreeno’s that I get returning home from vacation (insert yet here) but I do feel bad for my Neighboreeno’s farther down the list. When I start out visiting I’m fresh, I scroll the towns for their best benefit, 70-80 towns later I’m fatigued and tap the first best thing I see (especially if they don’t visit, have big house farms or are no real layout, prize collectors which I’m slowly thinning out) that’s why I usually have my friend’s towns split in half for morning and post-work visits or start Z to A to avoid short changing them.
Looks to me like EA is getting ready to add much requested dirt and sand to our build menu. I’ve long wanted to add a desert, Badlands, West SF area and with the addition of the Five corners ( which has cactus on it and would look stupid sitting on grass ) decoration, the cactus tiles and the rolling boulder, all of which would look great sitting on sand or dirt.
Let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come.
I would be happy if they just added sidewalks, (cobblestone) grey and beige (to match fencing and buildings), straight and curving. Always happy with new varieties of fencing and foliage.
I got an awesome glitch yesterday. When at work playing on my phone I got the 50 seedlings prize. Then when I got home and opened the game on my iPad it gave me the 50 seedlings again. Everything else I the game progressed as it should have to. So I had over 100 to give out last night when I visited friends.

When I started this event I felt so behind and everything was going so slow, but now I have the center levelled up and am banking lots of stuff for crafting now. And according to the calendar I’m working on Wednesday worth for shovels. Not concerned anymore.
Jealous! The mutant seedlings is my favorite prize so far. I hit it this morning and felt like Santa visiting my first wave of Neighboreeno’s, I’m parceling them out slowly so I can savor it. Feels good enough to spend donuts on for more…
Etamni, thanks for response, I was away for awhile & just got your response (ughhhh, real life sucks sometimes). I’m playing on IPad2 & using device keyboard, and not split screen. Very frustrating luckily I only have 5 openings, so not crucial, but still grrrrrrr.

Has anyone else found a glitch with their houses? I went to add to my blue house farm area and found that the price was 216,000!!! I have since sold most of my 100+ blue houses for 54,000 a piece and the last few for around 12,000. My white houses are new price 192,000. Sell-back price is 48,000.

Spent the day at the Calgary comic and entertainment expo and got to meet Rosario Dawson and Stephen Amell. They were both so cool!

I keep forgetting to ask this regarding sending mutant seedlings to friends’ Springfields – did I read the post correctly as stating that the sender gets a better payoff if the recipient catches the seedling than if it goes 4 hours without capture?

I heard on the radio yesterday that EA has the gaming rights for the new StarWars movie, do you think we will see a tie in with TSTO? I know StarWars is usually a FG thing but I’m pretty sure that was pre-Disney. With FGTQFS recently doing StarTrek I think there is a pretty good chance.
I dunno, maybe something small.

Hi everyone! Loving this event, but for me the timing is really bad with work this week. I hope I’ll be able to catch up! In other news, Brandine is due in 30 days! Soon I’ll have a lil spuckler running around. I forget what they do, lol, kind of like the yupprechaun, right? Do NPCs and characters count as items in my 45000? And when did Sit n Rotate stop paying out? So many questions!!
Not an NPC, the Spuckler kids give you a payout every 4 hrs! But you don’t send them on any tasks, just have to collect the cash after 4hrs.
I can’t wait! I like money hahaha

Hey Pimp! Enjoy your reward, 6 hours ago was 3:30am my time, I was cozy in my bed and missed out on squishing! Where in the world are you? How are you getting all these mutant seedlings? Must be the donuts 😄
Bunny! 😛 however many items is the max, you know what I mean! I’m still bitter over that too many items message. So what is it? Do characters and NPCs count towards that? I’m trying to plan for the future here and not get locked out of my townnnn n n
Lol. It is anything IN your Springfield. It is there to protect you and your device. These games have a LOT going on. You are pushing these lil hand held devices to their limits forcing them to render all those millions of pixels of art each time you open your game. So to avoid your game crashing, not letting neighbors visit as their device won’t be able to handle your town so it kicks them out, or the worst (happened to me) you have too much and your device gives up and locks you out of the game.
The limit is letting you know you are pushing it and start thinking about redoing some areas or storing things away. Instead of 100 1 block bushes, try 50 or less 2-3 block size bushes. Instead of 100 trees, try 50. Etc.
NPCs are in constant “action” as they roam the town, so yes… they will drain the heck out of the memory use. Adding to the mix of issues on top of the pushed MAX decorations and Buildings in town.

I love all of my trees and every snapdragon, it’s just so heartbreaking. Siiiggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuuh. I went through and did some editing. Then I went back and did some more. And then I looked again and cried a little on the inside. I remember when you were locked out for a long long time, Bunny. I don’t want that and I don’t want to crash my neighbors either. I guess soon I’ll have to go in and do a hard edit. Now that all my questions are answered I’ll spare everyone from my whining and suck it up. Thanks for the advice.
💡Maybe instead of sacrificing snapdragons or other design elements like that, you could just rotate which holiday-type themes you display at a time. (I think some folks have a “holiday corner,” in which they swap out what’s there for different holidays). For example, outside of the Toy Workshop, which I felt could be a year-round store/factory, I put pretty much all of my Christmas decorations in storage after the whole event was over. (I don’t really have space issues yet, but I just prefer to do it that way anyway.)

Also, lekittynoir (and especially Tapebelt and Jebus 😉 it seems recently RA has improved the load time for voluminous neighbourinos, they seem to take around the same time as everyone else, even on my antiquated phone!

I’m trying to decide which was the funniest visual I got from the game today: Carl ambling along beside a giant, mutant vegetable; two mutant seedlings racing each other down parallel streets or a mutant seedling and the yupprechaun racing past each other in opposite directions. 🙂

Thinking about staying up till 12 am to complete first task and start second one in AM so i complete all tom and from there on…this game takes up a lot of time!
I feel ya, I already work nights so I’m up late anyway but that has it’s own challenges- the first time I unlocked Cecil’s tasks it was after 10, I was already a day late updating so I used donuts to complete the tasks, day 2- I had all tasks completed, I only needed to collect from the 6hrs task before 12am when I got home from work. My daywalker husband had the audacity to still want to hang out with me when I got home and I missed the deadline by 18 minutes, I’m embarrassed now by my secret rage at reviling him causing me to miss the bonus. The next night I couldn’t stay awake, even though 4th task complete- didn’t collect before midnight deadline, anger at spouse from previous night abated, now angry at self. Now Homer’s voice notifications can penetrate my deepest sleep cycles. This event (Monsarno withstanding) is the most diabolical I’ve seen (granted I’ve only been playing since last October). Weather outside is gorgeous, time for some IRL

It’s a six-week event and this is only the first week of it — I think you’ll be fine unless you find that you are unable to play.
Liking this event so far; it’s very interesting and I’m happy it involves the Terwillegers. It’s just so time consuming!
Anyway, I have a question. Just to be clear, I don’t have to craft the available items before the end of Act 1 right? Because I really don’t think I’ll be able to craft those items in time before the act is over.

I was 7 so I was too young to appreciate Traci’s portion of the show, but I loved me some Simpsons from day one. I grew up with them. My uncles loved the show and knew I loved animation and the rest is history…
A few good TSTO days for me. I’ve got to a point with the current event where it’s starting to feel easier to earn currency, got the Research Centre to level 7 yesterday. Had enough XP for bonus level donuts and won Squeak Voiced Teen in the free mystery box 🙂

So, I had an awesome glitch. I went to put Ralph on one of Cecil’s tasks, but he was in Monsarno doing something, so I boxed the Wiggum house to pop him out of it, and it rushed every single character in Monsarno. I tried to replicate it by doing it again, but it didn’t work again. But the first time was awesome.
That is an awesome glitch!
I am loving this new update event. I do have a couple of questions though:
Has anyone noticed that the sideshow bob that you apprehend every now and then has changed color? The character is now less yellow, and has a similar color scheme of the sideshow bob that appears in the ‘log in’ menu image of this update event.
Also, ever since the comic book update event I have been experiencing a glitch (I think). Whenever I click on the top left corner of the screen to scroll through the characters, the character menu that comes up disappears suddenly and I have to click on that character several times for the menu to come up (this becomes problematic when I am trying to give the character a job and the menu is not ‘stable’ enough for me to do it), Is anyone else experiencing this?
Yup, he’s lighter in appearance now.
A lot of people are getting that glitch. Only thing I can tell you to do on it is contact EA. (unfortunately)
At least I’m reassured that it’s not only my game. I was worried there was something wrong with my device as I have been having crappy luck with all my electronics lately.
Phone died 3 months after purchase, tablet died suddenly after 2 years of use, laptop and desktop keep shutting off during important work… I’m almost too scared to start my own car!

Lots of us are getting the keep-away treatment with the character tasks. If I get time I’ll contact EA. Maybe if they sense I’m foaming at the mouth from frustration they’ll toss me a few glazed bones with sprinkles.

this ‘glitch’ probably comes from multiple of a building’s payout time reaching zero, one right after another as you are scrolling through the character menu
for instance try displaying the counter for a kwik e mart and watch it disappear into a $ as the counter reaches zero

I accidentally sent Apu on his 7 day task, so left him doing it. I now cannot continue my task for Marvin (without cancelling Apu’s). The task-window makes me laugh a lot! Greyed out at the bottom of Marvin’s task list is “Sit in Silence. Requires Apu”. If you can’t see why I laugh at that, then you are a better person than me.

Watching The Simpsons right now on FXX and forgot about Troy McClure. It would be great to have him as a player character in the game. I’m sure EA could come up with a quest line for him that would be really interesting.
That WOULD be awesome, but they probably won’t because of Phil Hartman. I’m actually pretty sure that if Mrs. Krabapple hadn’t already been released they never would now. I would like to see Uncle Herb or Mona Simpson.
Actually, I think it would be a great tribute to Hartman and it could be done quite easily, assuming whoever holds the rights agrees: all the other character lines in the game are just copied from the show anyway. It’s not like the lines were recorded just for TSTO.
EA has been continuously winning me over since the Halloween event. Unfortunately, it’s been keeping me from remaking Springfield and it’s a horrible mess right now.
I recently redid Krustyland and now I can’t find anything. 😀

TSTO QUESTION- Market value, build the farmers market. This costs a LOT of fertilizer and every time I level up I feel like I’m starting over. Suggestions??
Leveling up is the best way to go. I know it feels frustrating but once you’ve leveled up you’ll be bringing in TONS of fertilizer each day

Amusing situation in my Springfield: The mutant bunny (you know, the one with wings when you tap him) appeared to be bounding after a walking corn stalk. My thought was this: “Little bunny, I think you’ve had enough of those already!”

Hey has anyone managed to craft anything yet? I’ve been using my fertiliser/corn to upgrade Monsanto, currently on level 6.
Also has anyone else noticed that whereas we normally get event currency for the daily bonus during the events we don’t this time? My guess is its because they’re still promoting the mystery box.
I’m saving up for the Farmers Market for 2 reasons; it’s a task (market value), and it’s the only item that really looks appealing imo.
I agree on the appealing part, although Cletus’ neighbors probably wouldn’t mind his farmhouse being hidden from view by cane fields. I thought it was really strange that the Farmers’ Market was made the task when there are two other items that require fewer materials to craft. I wonder if there is a good reason? Are the other two items just fluff that we shouldn’t bother with building unless time and money are lying around, begging to be burned?
I want the farmers market too but it requires way too much fertilizer and corn. I am nearly on level 7 so maybe that will improve.
GodlessSquash – EA did that with the last event, too…they made crafting the Times building the one you had do to get the task bonus footrest, and that one was the most expensive item to craft, too. Only difference is, this time, the most expensive item actually is the best item (IMHO)!
After level 7 Monsarno, earning is WAY easier 😉
Interesting point regarding the Mystery Box, I also think its to “clear out” some of the more over-priced items and avoid the backlash of those who paid for them. Yey conspiracy theories!
Are you enjoying the Farmville Sideshow Bob event or are you missing the Superheroes event?
I like this event, because it requires some thought and strategy, but it is more time-consuming and it’s not great timing for me, since I’m going away for a long weekend next weekend. But I really liked the Superheroes event, too – great theme and easily done! I think that it’s good that EA switches things up a bit from event to event… I’d hate to have two easy or two hard events back to back.
Act One has been a bit easy, if EA is anything to go by in past events, difficulty will ramp up…
