Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Yesterday Level 52 hit our Tapping Devices and with it arrived a permanent mini event involving Mr. Burns and his Money Mountain.
The Money Mountain is meant to be a long term “project” for you to work on over time in Springfield. It’s massive and expensive, so breaking it up over time will help lessen the blow to your in game cash bank account.
We covered the basics in our rundown post, but now it’s time to get into the specifics of the Money Mountain and just what happens when you start the quest in your Springfield…
*Note: There is a glitch going on currently with Mr. Burns and the Money Mountain. Details on it are below.
First up…GLITCH/BUG ALERT…
Update 5.8.15 9:18 PM EDT: Patch hit our games tonight and the Burns glitch is now fixed! So if you couldn’t see the task before try hard closing and restarting your game and ensure the update downloads (it’s in game so nothing to get from the app store) and it should now be working for you.
There is a KNOWN bug going around that will make Mr. Burns’ task to empty his pockets disappear somewhere between $6,000 and $8,000 when you’re on Level 2.
It will not impact everyone. I’ve got it in my game but Bunny’s been able to get past level 2 onto Level 3 without an issue.
This is a known issue and EA is working to resolve it. Hopefully a patch will hit soon. Unfortunately, there is no “quick fix” for this that we can offer. It will take a patch to resolve. If you’d like you can add your “me too” to this thread started over on the EA Help forums:
To let EA know you’re impacted by the bug too. But they won’t be able to resolve the issue until a patch hits the game (in other words calling/chatting EA support won’t help your game individually this time. All they’ll be able to do is add your ID to the impacted list)
So sit tight. Hopefully the patch will hit soon.
So, as we always do, let’s start with the basics…
What’s the Requirement for Money Mountain? Do I Have to Be On Level 52?
Nope, the Money Mountain doesn’t just apply to players at Level 52, despite it arriving with the Level 52 update. The Money Mountain applies to all players Level 25 and above. So many of you are seeing this quest popup in your game…despite not being at Level 52.
How Does the Money Mountain Quest Start?
A ! will popup over Mr. Burns starting the Rolling In It task for Mr. Burns and Homer. That kicks off the mini event.
I’m At Level _____ (something higher than 25) and I Haven’t Had This Task Trigger For Me. What Do I Do?
First, don’t panic. It’s not a big deal. You probably just have too many tasks open/lined up in your game. Eventually the Money Mountain will trigger for you, so don’t worry. Again…it’s not timed. 🙂
When Does the Money Mountain Quest End?
Currently, there is no end date. It’s meant to be a long term goal, so take your time with it. There’s no rush to finish.
What’s the Purpose of Money Mountain? What do I Get If I Complete it?
There are 11 Levels to Money Mountain if you complete all 11 Levels you’ll unlock the Monty Moneybags skin for Mr. Burns.
What Happens When Mr. Burns Throws Money Into The Money Mountain?
It’s costing YOU money every time Mr. Burns throws money into Money Mountain. So YOUR in game cash will disappear each time you send Mr. Burns to “empty his pockets”. So again..take your time with it. It’s meant to be a long term goal.
How Much Of My In-Game Cash Will Be Needed to Complete the Whole Event?
The total through all 11 Level is $5,500,000.
Do I Have to Do This Event?
No. It’s not a requirement for anything, except to get the Monty Moneybags Skin. So you do not have to complete it to move onto any level/event in Springfield. It’ll just remain in your task bar.
Does Monty Moneybags (the Skin you earn) Have a Questline?
Yes, he’ll have a full 4 part questline (which we’ll cover later in this post).
Does Monty Moneybags (the Skin you Earn) Earn at a Premium Rate?
No. He earns at a SUPER premium rate. He’ll earn even more than a premium character would. (we’ll break his tasks down later in this post)
How Big is Money Mountain? Do I Have to Keep it In my Springfield?
It’s 11×11, so pretty big. And no you don’t have to keep it in your Springfield. You can store it at any time in your inventory.
What Will Money Mountain Do? Does It Earn Anything?
It’ll change appearances with each level increase, it’ll grow in height and more stuff will be added (we’ll have images later in this post). It will not earn you in game cash/xp. It’s basically a giant decoration and will earn you 450 Vanity points for your Conform-O-Meter.
So now…let’s get into more specifics about the Ain’t No Mountain High mini event and breakdown each level.
As mentioned above, as long as you’re on Level 25 Mr. Burns will start this quest for you. It’ll kick off with Rolling in It. Which will give you a task to complete for Homer and Mr. Burns.

Make Homer Enjoy His “Day Off”- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp
Make Mr. Burns Peruse the Latest Issue of ‘Snobby Hobbies’- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp
THIS will start the Ain’t No Mountain High Enough task. And you’ll see the levels popup on your screen…
Here are the requirements for each Level…as well as what the Money Mountain will look like after each level…
Level 1
Make Lisa Sulk– 1hr, Earns $70, 17xp
Place Mr. Burn’s Money Mountain– Costs $5,000. Requires Level 25. 11×11 in size.
Level 2
Make Mr. Burns Spend 10,000 Money– This Requires $1,000 of your own money and 10 minutes each time. You’ll have to complete it 10 times to finish this level. (Instant Upgrade 40 Donuts)
Level 3
Make Mr. Burns Spend 15,000 Money- This Requires $1,500 of your own money and 30 minutes each time. You’ll have to complete it 10 times to finish this level. (Instant Upgrade 60 Donuts)
Level 4
Make Mr. Burns Spend $25,000 Money- This Requires $2,500 of your own money and 30 minutes each time. You’ll have to complete it 10 times to finish this level. (Instant Upgrade 100 Donuts)
Level 5
Make Mr. Burns Spend $50,000 Money- This Requires $5,000 of your own money and 30 minutes each time. You’ll have to complete it 10 times to finish this level. (Instant Upgrade 200 Donuts)
Level 6
Make Mr. Burns Spend $100,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$5,000 each time @ 30min. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (10 total hrs)
$10,000 each time @ 6 hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (60 total hours)

Level 7
Make Mr. Burns Spend $300,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$15,000 each time @ 30min. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (10 total hrs)
$30,000 each time @ 6hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (60 total hrs)
(Instant Upgrade 300 Donuts)
Level 8
Make Mr. Burns Spend $500,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$25,000 each time @ 2hrs. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (40 total hrs)
$50,000 each time @ 10hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (100 total hrs)
(Instant Upgrade 350 Donuts)
Level 9
Make Mr. Burns Spend $750,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$37,500 each time @ 2hrs. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (40 total hrs)
$75,000 each time @ 10hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (100 total hrs)
$150,000 each time @ 16hrs. You’ll have to complete 5 times to finish (80 total hrs)
(Instant Upgrade 412 Donuts/400 if you do Smithers task)
Make Smithers Wander Aimlessly- 24hrs, Earns $600, 150xp
Level 10
Make Mr. Burns Spend $1,250,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$62,500 each time @ 3hrs. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (60 total hrs)
$125,000 each time @ 10hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (100 total hrs)
$250,000 each time @ 32hrs. You’ll have to complete 5 times to finish (160 total hrs)
(Instant Upgrade 450 Donuts)
Level 11
Make Mr. Burns Spend $2,500,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$125,000 each time @ 3hrs. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (60 total hrs)
$250,000 each time @ 10hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (100 total hrs)
$500,000 each time @ 32hrs. You’ll have to complete 5 times to finish (160 total hrs)

The level 11 image above is how the Money Mountain will look in your Springfield when the task is complete.
Once you’ve completed all 11 Levels you’ll unlock the Monty Moneybags skin. However, in order to get the skin you must first trigger the questline by Mr. Burns. He should appear with a ! right after you’ve leveled up to Level 11.
The Monty Moneybags skin will be placed in your inventory….

Whew! And there you have it my friends…everything you need to know about Money Mountain and Monty Moneybags!
My best advice…don’t worry about it right now. Money Mountain will still be around after the Terwilligers Event is over. So right now focus your time and character tasks on earning that crafting currency for Terwilligers, because that is limited-time. Think of Money Mountain as a side quest. Something to do when you’re bored in TSTO & don’t worry about it right now.
Also, one quick note. Since this is a permanent addition to our towns..this post has been permanently linked on the menu of TSTO Addicts. So you can quickly come back to reference it at any time by going to the navigation menu of TSTO Addicts and it’s listed under Tips and Tricks.

The game skipped me from level 2 to 4 i saved some money.
1. The Money Mountain glitch does kind of put a damper on things, but I can be patient.
2. I did manage to get my Mountain auto-upgraded for me to Level 2 with zero work or money on my part just by going to sleep. Sweet.
3. I hope people understand it is not a race. MM ain’t going anywhere. So enjoy going through the SSB event and the Level 52/Dora event.
4. And be especially happy EA is doing a massive amount of work to keep TSTO interesting!

Sorry to bother you, but I have a problem with this event. I have already finished the two first steps of the 1st level and now I am supposed to send Burns to spend 10000, but that task does not come out in his tasks’ menu. It is nowhere to be seen, I have checked it several times and I cannot find it anywhere. Are we supposed to update the game before completing that level so that task will come out or once the mountain appears in the shop all the tasks are updated automatically? :S

It says there’s a glitch going around that prevents the task from showing. EA’s working on a patch for it.
I think what they mean is that haven’t been able to send Burns on the task at all. I have the same issue. The task hasn’t been in his list. The post did mention the task may disappear between 6,000 and 8,000 for some people, but I haven’t even been able to get that far. I’m stuck at $0 (level 2) since Burns has never had the task in his list. Any idea on how to even get the task to even show up at all?
It happens at various points for different people. Some people are stuck earlier, some later. It’s the same glitch though.
I was just about to hit level 7 of money mountain when glitch hit me. I couldn’t go forward as the task wasn’t there for Burns. I used donuts to finish and am now on level 7 without incident. I have burns shoveling money now for 10 hours. I do not like having to check every 30 min. That is of course how I got to level 7 so quickly though. I like the addition of the crane at level 7, but why did they not animate Burns using crane to dump cash? I don’t get it.

I think getting skins are better this way then having limited time quests that some might miss cuz they don’t play every hr of everyday , well that’s of course if the game servers can handle that much
I just tossed my name in the hat on ea. Completed the first task and didn’t even have burns option on level 2
Yeah, happening to me too. I don’t have the task for Burns to start level 2. Anyone know why?
I had the same bug, Burns couldn’t throw anymore money after about the sixth time. Now that they fixed it I got to the second level without doing anything and it says I’ve spent already 13,500 eventhough I didn’t do anything. Well, good for me I guess!
Good morning….I woke this morning and started my visits to neighbors. First thing I noticed was when I entered my town it went to money mountain, usually goes to Monsarno Research. Went to neighbors and went to money mountain, usually goes to Monsarno Research. In every town that has the money mountain I couldn’t move throughout the town so couldn’t tap, unless Bob clones were right there. In towns that don’t have money mountain I could move around like usual and it did take me to the research building upon entering. I’ve stored my money mountain right now to see if it made a difference, I’ve logged out and back in again and nothing.
Not sure what’s going on, anyone else notice this today? Please help?

I read through some posts just now, should have prior to posting. I did have a level up on the money mountain, just appeared overnight because it wasn’t there yesterday and I had stopped at level 2 and decided to put Burns on other task for event. So, I leveled up and then was able to go back into neighbors towns and move around.
Is this something that’s happening without even putting Mr. Burns on a task related to the money mountain?

Yea that glitch is impacting various players who don’t even have the mountain yet.
This was a waste of time & money.
I don’t think so. If you think of this as a 5.5M aspirational building that comes with a super premium skin then it is actually really good value.
I have to agree. There is an event, a new level and now this nonsense all within a short period of time and none of them seem to be working or paying out properly. It’s getting to be a bit much.
Thanks for the update on the glitch. Got upgraded to level 3 when I was almost done with level 2, and then I task went away when I was almost done with level 3. Guess I’ll keep Mr. Burns busy getting some corn until the patch.

I have also seen burns clawing his way up in costume a huge mountain of twinkling gold and cash in a neighbours town already! A great animation and I am definately gonna aim for it once the glitch is fixed as the pile looks awesome : )

Once you spend the money it’s gone…you won’t get it back. So basically the outfit will cost you 5.5 million dollars.
I’m on level 6 of building the mountain and no longer have a task to add to it as well. I added my comment to that EA thread. Hopefully they’ll have a patch soon.
I’m on level one, on $6000, and Mr. burns task disappeared. I guess I didn’t have to wait for level two, yea! 🙂
I was stuck on level 1 with no Money tasks for a Burns showing up. I’ve just levelled up to Level 9(!!!) by tapping through my neighbour’s towns. Came to a grinding halt(ha!) at level 9 as Smithers has a 24 hour task.
Can’t get him to spend $15000 no option to do so.
I just came across an awesome bug with the money mountain, which had me going from Level 2 to 11 in under 2 hours and with only 12 Donuts spent for skipping the Smithers task. (and little or no game currency AFAICT)
I don’t have a second game to see if this works universally, but here is how the glitch happened to me as detailed as I could put together:
(1) I send Mr Burns to his first Level 2 money task. ($1000, 10 minutes)
(2) Started doing my daily round through my friends.
(3) This is a guess based on the time elapsed since (1): After Mr Burns task completed back home, in my next friend’s town with an active money mountain (i.e. Mr Burns was next to it), I got stuck to the mountain and couldn’t move my view. Same with the next friend over.
(4) I returned to my Springfield, finding Mr Burns next to the money mountain and free to use for other tasks. No check-mark on Mr Burns or the mountain for the completed task.
(5) Send Mr Burns on an unrelated task
(6) Kept going through my friends
When I returned home, my money mountain showed the upgrade sign and was upgraded to Level 3 when tapped.
Wondering what had happened, I went back to the friends screen and visited the first 8 or 10 friends in my list again.
When again returning to my own Springfield, the money mountain had accumulated several rounds of $1500, but wasn’t yet ready to upgrade to Level 4.
I figured visiting more friends was in order, so that’s what I did. I went to the same friends as before, and as I was above 50% of the Level 4 deposit already, after having visited them again, I found the upgrade ready back home.
This is when I decided to keep going till either maxing out on Level 11 or until the glitch stopped. It didn’t. 🙂
The only other obstacle was Smithers’ task on Level 8/9, which out of fear the glitch might end if I exited the app or waited the 24 hours I paid 12 donuts for to skip.
With experimentation I figured out that one round of money was deposited on my own money mountain for at least every friend with an active money mountain of his/her own. (Might have been for every friend _with_ a money mountain, regardless if active, but I was to lazy to first find someone with an inactive money mountain and then double-check, sorry.)
All in all, I spent 12 donuts and 90 to 100 minutes of going through my friends via the arrow buttons to go from Level 2 to Level 11. (And I do have screenshots for my progress along the way.)
Just a unique lucky glitch in my game, or a wormhole through the money mountain task for those who know how to trigger it?
Interesting, I had the “glitch”, stalled at Level 2, Burns not able to spend his $10k for level 2, this was first tap o’ the morning. ..
I’ve just visited my neighbourinos (no updates in the mean time, and a thanks to Chelso for sprinkle donation) and returned, to be granted the level 2 upgrade, although I couldn’t tell if it deducted money.
Burn’s wasn’t free but seemed to initiate the dialogue, once finished, upgrade done!

Quick question, once completed can you switch the look of the pile to previous levels’ appearances ala RAM Statue?
nope. You’re stuck with it at level 11
There may or may not be ( 😉 ) a glitch that allows you to go between your last friend and the friends screen 10-20 times per level depending on the level, then go back to money mountain to upgrade it. Repeat for each remaining level. It worked for me. I’m now money mountain level 11 with spending only 12 donuts to rush a Smithers task. I’m sure they’ll fix it sooner than later… but if you act fast…

The TSTO Addicts staff must be spending a bazillion dollars on donuts!!
We invest quite a bit of money in donuts. Usually buy them at christmas when Gil’s in town to maximize how many we get. So yea…we spend quite a bit on donuts.
Wish this post was here yesterday when I spent 5 donuts to finish up 10 of 10 to get to level 3. 🙁 At least it’s here now so I won’t spend more donuts to pass the next level!! Damn you, EA!!

Ok friends today I only spent 1000 and by the end of my day the mountain level up without having to spend the 10000, maybe it was a mistake but a great one
Seems like a waste.. unless somewhere down the road they let you cash back out as a surprise or something and you have ALL the $ you put in to it.
So the glitch is that the task to throw money disappears from the job menu? Because the glitch I have is that I haven’t had Mr. Burns throw the full amount of money for each level but the game leveled up anyway. Twice. Not complaining, I’d rather have him on a craft task anyway but I want to make sure it’s not gonna count against me.
Both are glitches. One’s a not so good one. The other is a happy glitch. Because happy glitches benefit the players we try not to draw attention to them in posts..since EA reads this site). In hopes that it’ll stick around a little bit longer 😉
I think mine is stuck on four thousand because the Mr Burns thingy asking for the money disappeared. Is this the glitch?
