Terwilliger Guide to Crafting: Act Two Crafting

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Terwilliger time in TSTO!  Yes, the Terwilliger’s are back and they’re set on making not only the Simpson’s lives a nightmare, but ours as well!  Mutant Veggies, Bob Clones, Jelly Blobs, upgrades and CRAFTING!  Ahhh!

I know many of you are panicking about crafting and just how you’ll earn enough Fertilizer, DNA and Corn to get everything.  Well don’t worry, we’re here to break it all down for you.  And I promise, it’s not as much of a nightmare as you might think it is.  Just pace yourself, and remember it won’t happen overnight.

So now let’s breakdown all the fun of Crafting during Act 2…shall we?

monsarno

I’m going to spare you guys from the basics this time around.  We’ve covered this ad nauseam all over the site.  But if you still need them you can check out our Act 1 Guide to crafting Post here.

In this post we’re instead just going to talk about the items added for Act 2, what they do and how they’ll impact your town.  With a few tips and suggestions along the way…

So let’s get started….

A few  general questions….

How Long Do I Have To Craft These Items, Will They Disappear When Act 3 Starts?

The simple answer is…no they will not disappear when Act 3 starts.  Just like the craftables from Act 1 didn’t disappear when Act 2 started, these won’t either.

So don’t stress so much about how long it’s going to take you to craft an item, they’re meant to be long term goals…not something that will happen overnight.  So pace yourself and play at your speed.

It’s Hard Seeing My Fertilizer and Corn go to Upgrading, Should I Upgrade Monsarno or Focus on Crafting?

ico_terwilligers_monsarnoupgrade_md

Again, we’ve talked about this ad nauseam as well.  Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade.  We’ve broken it all down for you in this Monsarno Upgrade Post.

When Should I Stop Upgrading?

You will NOT see a max for upgrading.  So when you stop is up to you.  Personally, I stopped once I hit Level 19.  I’ve unlocked all of the tasks for characters and got the bigger increases on DNA, Corn and Fertilizer.  But where you decide to stop is completely up to you.

What About the Herbicide Squirter?

We’ve covered that here.  Again there is no max on the Squirter so where you decide to stop is up to you.  However, i’d strongly advise against going higher than Level 15…as that’s when the crafting increases will stop.

Note: The Herbicide Squirter DOES NOT increase Gas Mask Payout.  No matter what you do, no matter what level you are the Gas Masks will only payout 3 at a time (from tapping Bob Clones).  So don’t upgrade the Squirter thinking you’ll get more Gas Masks, because you won’t.  It will only crease Corn, Fertilizer and DNA payouts from tapping Bob Clones.  (NOT Mutant Seedlings/Jelly Blobs)

When Does Act 3 Start?

Act 3 starts May 12th

It Costs So Much Fertilizer, DNA and Corn to Get Anything, How Can I Earn More?

ico_terwilligers_upgrade_fertilizer ico_terwilligers_upgrade_corn ico_terwilligers_upgrade_dna

Yes, crafting just about anything in this event seems daunting.  It may feel like you’ll never get there, but remember it’s all a long term goal.  You won’t get there overnight (unless you use donuts), so it’s important to pace yourself.

Currently there are only 4 ways to earn DNA, Corn & Fertilizer.  Sending characters on tasks to earn it, clearing Bob Clones in your town, Completing Cecil’s Daily Tasks & Sending/tapping Mutant Seedlings (Note the Mutant Seedlings only earn DNA and Corn during Act 2).  So if you’re looking for tips to earn more…there really aren’t any.  Just keep sending as many characters as you can out on DNA, Fertilizer and Corn tasks.

So now that more of your common Crafting questions have been answered….let’s take a look at what you can actually craft and the details.

Crafting Item Breakdown: Act 2

For Act Two there are 3 items to craft initially and 2 more added as you level up Monsarno.  Let’s take a look at each item and how it will impact your Springfield..

monsarnowallflipped

Item: Monsarno Flower Wall
Cost:
3,000 ico_terwilligers_fertilizer_lg  1,600 ico_terwilligers_dna_lg
Size:
1×2
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +5
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, Should be at the same crafting rate
Benefit  in Springfield:
Decoration, no added benefit other than looks
Should I Craft?:
This is one I would say if you have an idea for where it should go, craft it.  But the Flower Wall is better if crafted in multiples for certain looks.  I would hold off on crafting this until towards the end of the event.  Since you’ll need multiples.

springfieldbobsignflipped

 Item: Welcome Bob Sign
Cost:
8,250 ico_terwilligers_fertilizer_lg  4,500ico_terwilligers_dna_lg
Size:
1×5
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +100
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, should be at same crafting rate
Benefit  in Springfield:
Just a decoration, no real benefit.
Should I Craft?:
Unless you REALLY want this item, or you have Fertilizer and DNA to burn at the end of the event, this one is a pass for me.  No benefit and doesn’t seem worth the Fertilizer/DNA.

gasandgrubflipped

Item: Gas and Grub
Cost:
8,300 ico_terwilligers_dna_lg  4,600 ico_terwilligers_corn_lg
Size:
5×8
Build Time: 24hrs
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Consumerism +10
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, should be at same crafting rate.
Benefit  in Springfield:
Will earn you $120,12xp/6hrs.  Plus impacts Consumerism, one of the hardest areas to max out.
Should I Craft?:
Yes, for the consumerism benefit alone.  This building is the only craftable building for Act 2 that’s actually worth the time and effort of grinding out Corn and DNA.  I would aim for this one first before working on any of the side items.  (This can be done in addition to working towards the Farmer’s Market.  You should be able to work towards both at once)

monsarnolibrary

Item: Monsaro Library
Cost:
2,100 ico_terwilligers_dna_lg  1,600 ico_terwilligers_corn_lg

None.  It’s just a big decoration.  Will not earn you cash/xp, it’ll just sit there.
Should I Craft?:
No.  You’re awarded one for free once you level up Monsarno to Level 12.  And the free one should be plenty for your Springfield.  Don’t waste your Corn/DNA on this one.

Should I Craft?:
No.  You’re awarded one for free once you level up Monsarno to Level 14.  And the free one should be plenty for your Springfield.  Don’t waste your Fertilizer/DNA on this one.

And that my friends covers all the details of crafting during Act 2!

Remember, crafting is meant to be a long term goal, so take your time.  Don’t feel like you need to craft everything overnight, because you won’t.  It’ll take some time to achieve all your crafting goals, so be patient.  And remember…don’t use donuts to rush crafting!  It’s just not worth it.  Save those sprinkles for something more important down the road.

What are your thoughts on Act 2 Crafting?  Which prizes will you be going for?  Which ones will you be passing on?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. According to the game it says the prizes will end in five days. Is this true? Why not increase the items so people can earn the prizes faster? I wanted the farmers market and the gas and grub but it takes too long to earn them.

  2. Not getting enough Dna

  3. cjbrownlv788

    Gas and Grub
I’m 1,300 DNA from having enough to craft it
Might as well keep tapping till have enough DNA
I don’t think this will get away with progressing thru Act 3 😉

  4. I have a quick mutant seedling question. Is there another way to get them besides tapping Bob clones and the crate prize? I only seem to get 2 or 3 a day despite tapping every 4 to 6 hours. I’m afraid my neighbors aren’t benefiting much from me. Am I missing something?

  5. Agentkat13757

Will craftable items like the cane field from act 1 still be available to craft once act 3 hits?

  6. After deciding 1 more monsanto upgrade was needed to help with dna taking me to lvl20, I finally crafted the farmers market 🙂 Dna is slowly getting there for gas n grub maybe by act 3 I can get it but might hold out until see what new prizes await. Corn has been the standout I currently have 1000s more than need for gas grub and don’t see any point upgrading sprayer past lvl8 yet.

  7. Thomas the menace

Hello, please help, how can I get Sideshow Bob? My wife has him since approximately 1 week but does not know how. 🙁

  8. I think I’ll wait until near the end of the event to craft anything. That way I can work out what I can and can not craft. I have a few ideas on what to do with some of the lesser prizes (sugar cane, flower walls etc) but would hate to miss out on the main prizes.

  9. I know it’s already been discussed in a couple of posts, but can we all acknowledge just how ridiculous it was for EA to halve the clone spawn rate in the middle of the event? It’s akin to changing the rules in the middle of a game. We all planned how we wanted to grind out this event, did the math (with some talented addicts putting a lot of work into helpful calculations), and carefully weighed the pros and cons of upgrading and crafting. So we did all these things, only to to be hit with a random update five days from the start of act 3 that severely diminishes the amount of resources we earn from the clones, arguably the best source of materials for crafting. But why? It’s not like this event has been a cake walk. It’s been rough. If EA wants to spawn 6 clones an hour instead of 12, that’s fine. But make that the rate at the start of the event, not halfway through when many players have invested several thousand strands of DNA in the maxed out squirter. Just my two cents. I just hope we can look back and realize this change didn’t impact addicts’ ability to craft everything they wanted to craft.

    • I’m really unhappy too. I’ve been playing a lot (like every hour usually) except for the six to eight hours I sleep at night. I’ve crafted only the farmer’s market and I’m less than halfway to Gas n Grub. I only managed to get 800 DNA today total and that was sending characters on tasks without interruption and earning all available bonuses. At this rate, I won’t be able to craft Gas n Grub–let alone anything else before Act 2 ends. Squirter is at 15 and monsarno at 19. I kind of want to quit. They changed the rules in the middle of an already difficult event. Life isn’t fair, but this is a game. 😕

    • I agree 100%

    • EXACTLY what I’ve been saying. You don’t change the rules in the middle of the game. Really, um, ticked off that I’ll be 2 days short of crafting everything I’d like. My strategy would have been completely different when it came to DNA if they had simply started it off at 6 instead of 12 and then dropping the spawn rate. Grinding as hard as I am, I still can’t make it.
(And yes, agreed- whether it’s 6 or 12, it DOES NOT MATTER. As long as it’s consistent, that’s all that counts.)
Has anyone seen a thread on the EA forum about this? If so, would you post a link, and if not, should we start one? It won’t do us any good for this event, obviously, but maybe EA will get their… um… act together for the next event.
It is really difficult to keep my sailor’s mouth in check for this one, lol. And it’s mostly because I’m sad! I loved this game… Some simple, mindless tapping to pass the time and some design to play with. I used to tell people it was my happy zen place, like gardening is for some people. With this event, I’m just hostile, cranky, and burned out. I miss my happy place. 🙁

  10. OrdinarilyBob

Thanks for another excellent write-up, Addicts. I’m trucking along quite well. I have so far crafted 2x Cane Fields, Farmer’s Market, Sani-John Smokehouse, and just this morning I started the build on my Gas and Grub. While I see you don’t recommend it, I do like to get “one of everything” during events, so I will be crafting the Welcome sign, which I expect to have done before Act III starts.

By Sunday May 3rd I had upgraded my Monsarno Research and Herbicide Squirter to levels 17 and 15, respectively. After doing some math, I found it was beneficial to me to raise my Research to L20, which I did yesterday. While I didn’t need the L18 bump in corn production, the two DNA buffs (at Ls 19 & 20) I find to be great! I run a lot of the 3hr Celebrities DNA missions, and increasing that yield from 3 to 5, feels significant and worthy. The added increase to the 6 and 12hr DNA missions is also welcome.

The only thing(s) I’m “concerned” about are the Monsarno Flower Walls. I’d love several of them to decorate my Monsarno campus, but I doubt that I’ll be able to craft enough. Seems a shame, really. Oh well, got a couple more weeks, and obviously a lot will depend on how Act III goes.

    Happy tapping!

    • This may have already been addressed, so I apologize in advance if it has. Is the any benefit to saving our mutant seeds until act three or should we just start sowing them? I am sitting on nearly 100 and am trying to decide what to do.

      • I like to save 50 or so to drop as soon as the new act hits….but it doesn’t really matter. You can drop them or not…not a tremendous impact either way.

      • For some reason it would not let me reply to your post. Just wanted to say thanks for the quick response!

  11. wildthornberry88

I’ve still not crafted anything. Feeling a bit behind now XD

  12. …thank you debbie (loada numbers) for giving me SO many jelly blobs xxsuper big smilexx

love your town so much to look at I am always checking yours first for the latest premium : )

    super jealous lol

  13. junkfoodbetty

I love you guys and all the work you do, but the English major in me couldn’t help but notice you listed the Gas and Grub as the “Gas and Gulp” in this post.
I know you guys are working really hard and it’s totally an easy mistake to make. I just thought you might want to correct it for people using the search feature in the future?

  14. Howdy fellow addicts! I have a very odd question…. I keep getting mutant seedlings sent to my town from a non neighbor. I only noticed when I went to reciprocate the kind gesture- that’s when I noticed they aren’t on my neighbors list… How is this possible? Is this a glitch or someone trying to hack into my town? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. This has now happened with this non neighbor a handful of times within the last few days. Thanks!

  15. I’m holding off crafting the Gas and Grub as I think we’re going to need the DNA for upgrading in Act 3.

  16. Does the Burns money pile expire at the end of the Sideshow Bob event? No way I’ll get to 5.5 mill dollars before the end of the event, so I’d rather not waste my money if it expires with the Event

  17. *pops in wearing a phantom of the opera mask*

…please allow me to sing ; ) I just got some more jelly blobs !!

  18. OMG! I ran out of jelly blobs today for the first time since they spawned their juiceness and woooah help my bob nearly bought some for the guilt of not playing blob tennis with my neighboureenos!!! Nearly … but seriously EA with less sideshow cobs means less blobs let alone the rest – boo hiss BOO and HISS and it’s behind you …lol that’s what we do in panto ie. The Real Theater : /

  19. Gotta love sending Mr. Burns to throw in money…and its MY money he’s throwing in. Not sure I like this or will finish it.

  20. DNA soooo slow in coming. I’m “only” 3000 away from crafting the Gas & Grub, but it feels like it’s taking forever! I get 21 from each
Bob-Cob, but so few are spawning now. Oh well, I know I’ll get there eventually, and it’s really the only thing I want from Act 2. Can’t wait to see what Act 3 brings!

    • Keep on chugging! Sounds like you’re in good shape. But I hear you. If it makes you feel any better, I’m a whopping 7100 DNA strands away from the Gas n Grub and have no shot of getting it by Act 3. And of course, the same day I finally get my squirter up to 25 per Bob-Cob is the same day EA decides to cut the clone spawn rate in half to only 6 per hour. Grrrr. Still fuming about that!

  21. Theunfairersex

That welcome sign will look great on the path to my Italian villa. All I need is for brandine to get done birthin so I can nuke everything.

What a ride. I’m so ready to see where this event takes us next.

  22. I am proper ready to nuke town and relay it. Got a good idea of how I want it, and with a little OCD, it’ll be somewhat ‘even’ throughout. Mid-event tho, it ain’t happening, this time next month maybe.

  23. I’ve crafted the market and just 500 DNA away from crafting the gas and grub. I have around 11 thousand fertilizer and corn and I have Monsarno upgraded to level 20 and herbicide at level 15. I play a lot so will keep getting a bunch of fertilizer and corn, it seems maybe I should upgrade Monsarno some more. However, I can’t find any chart or anything that states what happens after upgrading past level 21. The chart says there is no DNA increase between levels 20 and 21 which is why I basically stopped at 20. But what about level 22? level 23? It seems nobody has upgraded this far or at least nobody has posted what they found. Does anybody know if DNA increases at level 22 or at what levels it gets increased? I don’t want to upgrade 2 or 3 times to find that DNA is staying the same.. thanks.

    • It’s VERY minimum benefits (sorry I wasn’t wasting donuts to go beyond Level 21…just not worth it). The ones that increase only increase by 1 and not everyone increases.

      • Ok, thanks. Yeah, I wouldn’t expect anyone to waste donuts to find out. I’m just getting to that point where it seems I’ll get way more fertilizer and corn than I need, even after crafting everything so was thinking I would upgrade some more just to get that little extra DNA (which is the limiting resource). Maybe I’m just getting restless.. I guess I’ll wait until I actually have crafted everything and the resources are piling up and then perhaps upgrade if I have nothing else to spend my resources on.

    • I leveled it up to 25, and to be honest, I don’t get why people say not to level past 21. If you do the math, the growth of the income stays just the same and doesn’t get smaller (aka linear growth). Of course, one has to stop at some point, but in my experience, the benefit of upgrading does not decrease.

      DNA income for Level 25:
      3h: 6
      6h: 8
      12h: 13

      • I’ve gone to level 22, and the only reason I didn’t go higher was that I messed up. I stayed at level 17 for a while and by the time I’d done the maths I’d missed out on a few days of benefits. If I had my time again I’d’ve gone to 24/25/26 (or even higher) as soon as possible.

  24. Anyone else have a Money Pile Glitch (Mr.Burns “Do it” task of throwing money leads to Mr. burns without any such option). I restarted my tablet and everything – still. Nada.

  25. Thank you so much for your calm guidance – especially the past few weeks with the upgrades -vs- crafting. I was convinced they were unobtainable, but gulped and followed your advice and upgraded, upgraded. About an hour ago I was able to craft the Farmers Market. A lot because I have been playing faithfully, but mostly because I upgraded and my playing had bigger rewards. And it wouldn’t have except for your advice.
I think I’m about three days from the Gas N Grub and if I only get that I’m happy.

  26. Not sure if this has been mentioned but the 1 hour task of working the land has disappeared on my game. No updates since yesterday and it was still there until 6am this morning. Anyone else having this issue and a fix of some sort available? Thanks all.

  27. Can’t wait to see what comes in Act 3.
Also, I really hope they convert the Monsarno campus buildings to cash generators when the event’s over. I’m beginning to get used to my little office complex and it’d be nice if it could stay in my town (which it won’t if they’re just decorations – straight to storage for such land-hogs!)

  28. My question is, will there be any more monsaro buildings in act 3? That would be the only reason I would level up monsaro.

  29. the welcome bob sign is pretty cool as we don’t have a welcome to springfield sign. This can be used quite nicely

  30. Looking forward to someday getting the Gas and Grub! 🙂
Also looking forward to having enough spare time to redo the area around my Monsarno campus, so I can enlarge it to fit the two additional buildings I won, which are currently just sitting in inventory until I have a place to put them.

Disappointed that the flower walls don’t offer a bonus multiplier like the spooky walls did. Even a small multiplier (like the .05% for the spooky walls) would be fair for something like that, which one has to work hard to get and which isn’t a major decoration (like the “side” buildings for the Monsarno campus) or an item that earns an income.
