Should I Spend Donuts on Jockey Bart and Furious D?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Tap Ball is sweeping the streets of our Springfields and during this second Act of the event a few new characters get into it and actually play Tap Ball!  Two new characters for Tap Ball have been added to our stores via the Premium Menu, Jockey Bart and Furious D.   Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Jockey Bart and Furious D to YOUR Tap Ball Roster?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this horse racing duo to YOUR team!
unlock_bart_jockey unlock_furiousd

Character/Skin: Jockey Bart (a premium skin for Bart) AND Furious D (full playable character for Springfield)
Donut Price: 100 donuts

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Almost a 2 for one deal, as you get a premium skin for Bart AND a full playable premium character in Furious D.
-Premium characters earn 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character (on cash earning tasks.  Otherwise same Amateur Buck Payout as regular characters, but a higher XP payout)
-BOTH can play Tap Ball as two separate players
-Comes with Amateur Buck earning tasks
-Some fun outdoor animated tasks for each, including a joint task where Bart rides Furious D around town.

Cons:
-A little pricey
-Tap Ball ability is only good if you have 6 characters (or 10), otherwise you just have 2 extra characters sitting on the bench (since you can only play 4 at a time)
-Both characters are low rated, so you’ll have some work to do to level them up

Final Thought:
Premium or Freemium Take:
If you’re only looking to purchase one premium character set that will help you play Tap Ball for this event, THIS is the one you should purchase.  Although it’s a little more in cost than the others, you get TWO players out of this one…including one that’s a full blown new character for your game.
To me this is a set worth getting, if you’re looking at using donuts to expand your roster.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I will probably be picking this duo up, as I currently have 9 players (and will have 10 once I unlock Tennis Marge).  These two will give me a 3rd Tap Ball Team (even if I don’t level them up, it’s still nice to have 3 active rosters).  However, this IS a limited-time item.  So if you’re thinking about getting them make sure you make your final decision before they leave our games.

  1. It seems like a good deal, but I think I’m gonna pass on this one. I don’t believe in buying premium items just to help with an event, I have the premium skin for Bart that came with Kamp Krusty (which I haven’t even placed yet!), and there are other items that I want more at this point. If I were more of a premium player, I’d definitely get it, but being primarily freemium, I have to pass.

But I look forward to checking out those animations in my friendvilles! 🙂

  2. I actually went from freemium to premium to buy this combo. I thought it was a good price. I had some credit, so didn’t have to spend any real money, but tried hard to stay freemium for as long as possible. Just had to have Duncan!

  3. Bought it the minute it was release….:)

  4. I hesitated a bit, was waiting on the SIB, and saw a writeup on reddit that was a similar thing. Complete Freemium player, had 230 donuts, now I have 130 donuts, a new premium character I like (even if the episode he was in got kinda weird),my first premium skin for Bart, and two more tapball players (bringing my roster to 8 at the moment).

I should note that having a non-multiple-of-4 number of players isn’t always bad, since any time you upgrade a player they’re ready to go, so if you have, say, 11 characters, and you upgrade someone who just played, you have a full team ready to go.

  5. I’m still on the fence. I’m a scratch-R away from having enough for this tho. What I really am looking forward to is the “where did that come from” post on this. I’m sure it was a good episode.

  6. No need for a response but 100 donuts is pricey for a premium skin and playable character? I guess I’m just used to overpaying for things?

    • Yeah I thought it was cheap. Paying 150 for that stupid Laser Tag building was a real kick in the groin

  7. I just need one more donut! lol

  8. I’m torn between this and Jasper(who will finally get 2 skins out of my inventory) Opinions?

    • Bangles Dupree

The general principle is to go for the limited time items now if you want them. Jasper is one of my favorite characters though, and he is voiced.

  9. I’m disappointed that Furious D seems to be the only new playable character to be released for this event, and it’s premium. Springy frankly, is a bit of a joke.

  10. Ciarathomp988

Picked them up after a few days of consideration since I’m freemium, but this is probably the only premium purchase I haven’t regretted immediately after. I love animals and I had NO skins for Bart, AND this brought me up to two full tapball teams, FINALLY. Although there’s still nothing I want to craft besides some stadium fencing lol. BUT the community prizes are where it’s at 😊

  11. 4kidsandacatdog

I snapped these two up as soon as phase 2 started. If you think about it it’s two premiums at 50 donuts each, one of the lowest prices for a premium character/skin of the event. Plus, my son’s name is Duncan…how could I pass up Duncan the Wonder Horse?

  12. I don’t normally like skins but I jumped at this combo as soon as it came out. I had been chomping at the bit for these two to be posted for sale as soon as I saw they were going to be part of Tap Ball. Furious D is one of the few animals in the game that has a complete set of tasks… how could you not love it. Voiced and with fun outdoor tasks for the pair also makes the duo worth it.

  13. Anyone else having problems with the game? I keep getting the Bart screen…

  14. Get it it’s totally worth it 😉

  15. Picky, picky, picky.
Jockey Bart has a “permanent” task of “Practice Tap Ball”?
Are Amateur Bucks going to stay with us or is Tap Ball going to remain?

    • Not sure if that task will disappear or stay, since the stadium will stay. Amateur Bucks will disappear…as will the ability to play tap ball. BUT since the stadium is yours to keep it’s entirely possible that Practice Tap Ball will continue.

I didn’t even wait for this post… I am a freemium player and just had to have this. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Bart and Furious D played tap ball separately which made this a great deal for me during this event because now my tap ball roster is at 8 players. And I picked up a full character to boot!

  17. Alice/alstuff

    Like em, got em.
Back to throwing balls- I spent 500 bucks to get a soccer ball and threw it to a neighbor several days ago. Today someone threw me a football. But the ball icon on the lower left says “0” . Do I have to keep buying balls for $500? Why do that rather than level up my players. Doesn’t make sense to me.

  18. It is expensive and I don’t have enough donuts and I don’t have the money to spend on donuts, where can I get free donuts?

    • They’re available from within the game at random times, beyond that no where. Anywhere you get them you’d be in complete violation of EA’s terms of service and could result in your account getting banned.

    • there’s 10 donuts when the first community prize unlocks and maybe more as an overtime bonus after doing the act 2 prize track, if that will help depending how far short you are

    • If you tap homer 10 times you get ten free donuts.

    • If you have an android device you should get Google opinion rewards app it’s great I have earned £9 in 3 months which is great when u are freemium like me lol

  19. As a freemium player, I didn’t wait for a SIB on this one. I love the joint 4 hour task. Furious D brings some color to my town..love it

  20. Can you put the horse in storage and if so without losing Bart’s skin ? Also, what sort of size is it in proportion to the people ? EA have a strange sense of scale, soccer nets as big as a building.

    • I’ll leave this for the community…

But why would you want to store the horse? It’s a premium character that earns at a premium rate…

      • because until I can unlock the courthouse which is few levels to go yet and send it away for 24hrs, it will offend my sense of tidiness to have a big giant horse running around town. Same reason the springy thing got the chop.

    • I think D’s proportion to other characters is quite good, unlike quite a few of the buildings and decorations – like the Canyonero from Friend level Prizes which I couldn’t stand looking at because it was practically the same size as a house 😀 Check neighboring Springfields to see for yourself though.

      • Thanks Krom, I’m tempted by the new outfit for Bart but already have two complete teams so will leave my donuts in the bank for the next event I think

  21. I love the animals in simpsons and simply had to get the horse…fantastic animations and I now have two full teams to play tapball! So glad i didn’t spend my saved hard earnt donuts earlier in the event! Thanks to Alissa for the heads up : )

  22. LOVE!!!!

A little pricey? 100 for a Premium character and a skin is a pretty nice deal, in my opinion.

This was an instant grab for me. Great quest line, a couple new Tap Ball players, and some really neat outdoor tasks. I don’t regret the purchase one bit.

As an aside, could anyone that has Furious D and the Twonicorn provide a screenshot of Admire Twonicorn? I’m interested to see what that looks like, but I don’t have the Twonicorn.

    • D just follows the Twonicorn around town.

      • It doesn’t sound like much does it, but I think the interaction with Twonicorn, however bland, was the tipping point for me to get Furious D.
I’m a freemium player too, but I couldn’t resist some horsy happiness, Cracker Factories etc. can wait 🙂
Haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, busy earning amateur bucks with Bart riding away all over town.

  24. Went ahead and got them this morning. I skipped Bartman, so getting a premium skin for Bart, plus another premium character was too good to pass up, even on a freemium budget.

  25. I would have rather had hockey Bart.

  26. I am a bit jealous of Bart. First he gets to ride Stampy and now Furious D. And I bet Lisa wants her pony too.

  27. Burrahobbit_L27

I’m a freemium player currently on 99 donuts. Looking forward to getting the last pink donut hopefully by tomorrow and spending it all on Jockey Bart and Furious D. This deal reminds me of the plopper one, you get a full character + something else. Hopefully EA doesn’t release something better in the next 2 months when I’m trying to recoup donuts.

  28. I already have a premium skin for Bart (from the Superheroes event), so this would not make a difference. I got Nelson’s skin in Act 1 because he didn’t have one yet and this would give me 8 Tap Ball players early with Dredrick Tatum’s and Jasper’s skins.

With Fit Milhouse, I currently have 9 players and the three upcoming characters (Marge, Comic Book Guy and Crazy Cat Lady) will bump that up to 12 towards the end of the event so that the final daily traings with 4 and 5 Tap Ball wins should be a piece of cake.

Long story short, I don’t see any motivation for buying the combo which I don’t have any particular attachment to, either.

  29. I am on the fence. Currently I have six players for Tap Ball, so getting this set would allow me to play with two teams. However, in a few days Comic Book Guy and Marge will join my team for free anyway.

And I have to be honest: at the moment, there isn’t really anything I want to grind for with amateur bucks, so I’ll wait around for phase 3 to decide.

  30. Grab them instantly. No regrets. Glad I decided not to get the Steel Mill now. I wouldn’t even say they were that pricey really. A skin for Grampa was what 75 Donuts and couldn’t even play Tap Ball? Heck some premium characters themselves are over a hundred donuts (Jimbo I am staring in your general direction). Their questline is funny too.
