So…here is your Open Thread. Busy week in TSTO this past week….new Premium items (and the return of the Mapple store!), Level 57 AND Act 3 of the Monorail Event! How are you handling all the additions last week? Focusing on the Monorail or working on Level 57 too? Just a few more weeks and The Simpsons will premiere for Season 27, are you ready for the new season? Have your Sundays been a little lonely without them? College Football is back..and I’ve officially lost my husband on Saturdays…what team(s) are you rooting for? How’d they do this past weekend? Sunday Night Baseball tonight features the Pirates at the Cardinals, will you be watching? It’s Labor Day Weekend here in the US, unofficially the last weekend of the summer. Do anything fun? Have anything fun planned?

Hoo Boy, so last week on some thread comment I invited Ciara and Lee to come be my Neighbor-eeno as I love frequent commenters, and now I have a dozen requests that I would have to eliminate people to accommodate. Problem is, I can’t equate origin ID with comment names, I wish I could see towns before accepting requests (

I haven’t gotten a chance to take a good look at your town seeing as I can barely get the 30 neighbour visits done for the event currency, but I like what I did see 😊

I don’t like to complain but I am in a bit of a panic, I was on for a few minutes this morning, then suddenly the game tosses me out and I’ve only had Bart screens since then! I’m scared because it’s been over eight hours now. While on the “synchronize” screen it tells me about who’s dumped garbage but it never even gets as far as that screen you click through to confirm you’re still signed in 🙁
I hope by now it works for you again! When not , did you try to uninstall the Game?
So I found out that the prize board defaults to the current act. Say for instance that you missed the first act so you’ve decided to spend the donuts to unlock the prizes. And let’s say you unlock the first prize on act one, which takes you to a screen that asks if you want to place your prize or store it, and when you go back to the prize board you are not pay attention to which tab you are on (because hey, I just unlocked a prize in act 1, I must still be on act 1 right) and you unlock the next 5 or 6 prizes. And that’s when you realize you’re actually unlocking the prizes on act 3… Yeah, that was a little painful to realize.
I’m a Giants baseball fan. I kinda feel like griping about this season but am well aware I’d sound like a spoiled brat if I did. Still, this season has been incredibly frustrating. AHHHHHHHH!!!!! There, that’s a little better.
at least you’re well aware of that fact….

Happy Sunday fellow tappers! I’ve been playing everyday due to being on work restriction. Waiting for my appointment with the foot doctor on the 15th. Due to being naturally flat footed I have been diagnosed with plantar facitius, pronation, and splayed feet. Being able to play the game more has been fun but I’m starting to get stir crazy. Hoping to get some inserts for my shoes and get back to work quickly. I have been enjoying all the posts. It’s a great way to get updates on the game, as well as all of you guys. Hope everyone has a great day today. 🙂
I want to give a shout out to the programmers at EA. The detail on the characters (many of them anyway) as they collect trash and recycle is very detailed and entertaining. Thanks guys, it’s the little things.
Is it just me…or does it sound like when you click on the Springfield Dump, when it is at its emptiest, the rat squeak the theme to “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers?”
I just watched the Who Shot Mr Burns episodes. That scene with Willie under interrogation is so funny!
I just finished moving half my town down a road length for remodeling purposes only to realize I needed to move it down two roads so now I wanna talk about that. >:-[
Hard day trying to keep up, game freezing all the time, disabled marges mall o rail, which helped a bit, frustrating to say the least, hope tomorrow is better
So once again, I’m happy to see Belle in the game but always expected her to arrive in a big event. thinking about all the bad mustache and incognito/disguises and verious skins of the male characters that may want to visit.
I just have to switch my imagination to the next THOH event and other possabilities. I do like Alissa’s idea about a Futuristic event, maybe have Frink invent a ray to radiate the concept of Love causing the automatons to have there heads melt as they cry. (But maybe a Futuristic event might be better for Valentines Day then) :p
I really hope they fix this freezing/crashing nonsense. I haven’t had my tracks connected to my stations since act 1. I can’t believe the monorail event doesn’t work unless your monorail isn’t set up. Talk about irony! A lot of people predicted this too. It’s just too much for the game to handle to have such a big animation running nonstop.
This event is pretty boring too…nothing much changes between acts besides the final prize. I’m all for less convoluted events (Terwilligers comes to mind) but there’s just not much going on here. There’s hardly any freemium event decorations to buy, no event currency dropping characters, a limit on what you can earn. Something like Xmas 2013 would be perfect. As far as I can remember we had community prizes, elves to tap, snow added, decorations (freemium), a wheel (which I actually liked), gift bags being dropped.
Let’s go back to those kinds of events! Easy enough to complete but also enough to do to be able to play all day.
So remember last week I had an idea for a future level update? Well this week I have a few ideas about the quest dialogue, the plot of what would be Gloria’s questline, and some added permanent tasks for Boo-rns and Snake. Let me know if you’re curious! 😁

I have the Classy Girls Strip Club beside the Toy Workshop, which is across the street from the Stonecutter’s Daycare Centre and a park made of slides, swings and monkey bars. Sadly, I didn’t even realize I had done that until my roommate looked at my iPad one day and broke out laughing and told me I have poor city planning skills. I proceeded to keep it the way it is, as its a little funny. 🙂
I’m also having trouble placing the strip club. Might take your advice. Wonder what my neighbours will think when they see the monkey bar in front of it

Haha! I used to have the Sleep Eazy Motel near the bottom of my wish list because it’s so expensive, but now I’m tempted to buy donuts so I can get it sooner and put it next to the new wedding chapel. 🙂

Got it – still trying to afford more land in this corner, but it’s coming along.
I have my Oscar’s Obstacles truck and the obstacles set up so they are across an intersection leading to Springfield Heights, I figured should be blocking something.
I also have my Springfield Gorge set up so the ramp Homer falls off, is in line with the daredevil pool just below it, making it looks so that anyone/anything that slides down that ramp, will end up in the pool.
Have others planned as well, but so far that’s it, remodelling takes forever.
I thought about buying The Old Gray Mare just to fence her in next to the Slaughter House and a barrel of horse parts….I know I know…. horrible thought…but I swear I’m not this terrible in real life lol….however…there is a spot cleared just in case O.o
OK, you just sold me on the mare. Now I’m off to buy it and use your great placement idea. Funny!
I have Plopper and the crap silo next to my slaughter and smoke house (and yes, cop cars and police blimp next to Lard Lad). I have the big magnifying glass in my Monsarno compound trying to burn down the Farmer’s Market. My Springfield Elementary (and formerly Retirement Castle until the recent Monorail event forced renovations, ) is like a prison while the nearby prison and jailhouse have benches, flowers and picket fences. I especially like that during this event my little recyclers keep trekking through my nuclear test site facility despite the half hearted, sporadic barriers.
In have a few…one of them is that I have my donut torture device peeking out from behind the stomach staple center.
My favorite is your chalk body outline of Homer in the parking lot of Dr Monroe’s Family Counseling Center.

I’ve got loads. Most of them quite subtle, like the golden calf statue in my church garden. I think it’s the most important thing to me. If my town doesn’t make me smile to myself, then what’s the point?
My Golden Calf is next to my All-Seeing Eye Pyramid. I wish I actually could hang out in my own Stonecutter’s Compound, if there’s not an EA event going on where all my characters are otherwise occupied, my Neighbor-eeno’s can scroll over and see my Stonecutters spill out of the temple, stroll to the feast table and help cheer on the performer on the open air stage and stop by and thank Lurleen for the good grub. You might even see Giuseppe’s fireworks or Stupid Sexy Flanders bum on the ski lift (please wake Chester up and tell him to finally finish that shed) It’s a total party there.
I know in other posts you have mentioned a decoration limit to avoid crashing. I am not having problem with crashing but how do you check how many decorations you have?

As soon as this event is over, I need to nuke my town and start over. It’s gotten too congested ever since Sideshow Bob came out and now buildings are scattered. One of my friends is in the same boat.
We’re looking for someone to assist in that regard. Any takers?
Yes, I have the rough draft written and approved. But all of these events are taking too much time to allow me to rewrite and then Monorail put a wrench in the works. Will try to get it out by event’s end. The first half is decent now, but the second half is still too wordy and complicated.

I wanted to nuke my town all summer (the Sideshow event also congested my town and scattered buildings…I hate it!). But since the start of this event I knew this would be the perfect time to nuke. Just need to unlock the rail yard and then my set.
But yes, leads/ideas/recommendations would be cool, like a Should I Nuke My Town guide.
If you have enough land, I prefer the “not” nuke option, just move stuff that is in the way, to an available area, and work on your town block by block. That’s how I’m revising mine at least. Less chance of an item going “poof” in inventory after nuking that way.
I’d like to see a “Strictly Springfield,” it would have little areas that match the show, like Moe’s is left of King tool’s. Because they got in a fight and in the alley, Moe’s is on the right. And only Moe’s has a dumpster…..
And flanders is on the left from the Simpsons house, with a brown house on the right, gable facing the property line…..

Over a week ago I lost the ability to play my game because half of my characters went missing as did my project board and various other buildings. At first EA was responsive, the tech told me he restored everything, but that did not happened. I have spent the last four days waiting for an AE “expert” to contact me. As someone who has plays this silly game every day since May 2012, I am really frustrated. In spite of what people say, writing my feelings has not made me fell better. Hahaha

Hi Kevin – I started playing around that time back then also. I know how you feel. I was frozen out of my game for a week before EA rolled my game back. I missed out on the last 4 prizes of act 1. EA would not add them to my game because they were not items that “went missing”. Hopefully, I should be able to recover somewhat after I get the Rail Station. Very frustrating as this was no fault of me or my phone. Good luck in your recovery process. You are not alone.
Happy Sunday to all tappers and my neighbours .Special thanks to Iris Wildtyhme . As you may know I have been making pickles and chutneys to while away the time while I am signed off work , Well Iris put me on to pickled cauliflower and I made some yesterday with red onions . Got to wait for it to mature so don’t know how it will taste but it looks good. Next on the list is green runner bean chutney. Anyway , I would like to share an amusing story that happened to me about five years ago. I will call it ” The bent knife , the little old lady and the chopped tomatoes ” Before I begin , I will have to borrow Bunny’s favourite swear word substitute , Frakkin , if that’s ok with you Bunny? I happened to be on my own for the weekend in the BigPhil household and fancied spaghetti Bolognese . Aii the ingredients were there so off I went quite happily cooking the mince until it came to adding the tin of chopped tomatoes . The tin wasn’t one with a ring pull so out came the tin opener . It wouldn’t work ! I was used to the type that run round the side of the tin and try as I might , all I managed was a slit about two inches round the top of the tin . ” What the frakk is the matter with this frakkin tin opener , all I want is some frakkin chopped tomatoes” I got more and more worked up and resorted to sticking a knife in the slit in the tin to try and open up the gap so I could pour out the chopped tomatoes . This promptly produced the bent knife of the title of this sorry tale . I then found that the so-called chopped tomatoes were too big to come out of the hole in the tin which set me off again ” Call these frakkin chopped tomatoes ? How can they be if they won’t come out of the frakkin tin , oh for frakks sake ! ” “Ding dong” . there’s somebody at the
front door ” Oh who the frakks that at this frakkin time in the frakkin evening ? As i went to the door I realised that all the tirade I had just had was shouted out loud , not in my head as I thought . I opened the door to see the little old lady from the title of this tale scurrying away out of the gate ! Eventually , said Bolognese was made , eaten and enjoyed .I found out later that the tin opener was one of those new fangled ones that run round the top of the tin and take the whole top off .Not ” a useless lump , living in my drawer , rent free , I might add” , and when it was called on to do” the one thing anyone would ask of it “, it would refuse point blank” as I accused it of being , with liberal doses of the frakk word thrown in for good measure ( Thanks Bunny ) Anyway , whenever I see the still slightly bent knife , this story comes back to me . Anybody else got any funny kitchen or cooking tales they’d like to share ? Thanks for reading this.
Hi, BigPhil! I read your comment and I tried to remember a funny kitchen story to tell you here, because I’m sure there’s at least one since I love cooking, but I couldn’t 🙁 sorry. But I’ll let you know if I remember one. And please let us all know about your pickles by the time when they’re ready! I’ve never pickled anything in my life because I’m too afraid I just end up ruining previously wonderful vegetables – the mere thought of wasting food just freaks me out. Of course being a food enthusiast means taking some risks, and I like it, but I only “take risks” on recipes that I don’t mind having to eat everything all by myself – for example, if the recipe is ruined and it tastes bad. I do like pickles but could never eat a whole jar of them. Oh, and since I’m not a big fan of sweet food, I barely cook them, either. But there are exceptions – desserts can be soooo delicious and beautiful to look at! I, for instance, like sweet food that contain berries, but since most of them are not native here in Brazil, they’re either ugly (which is sad when you want them for decorating) or very expensive. And I’m so so SO sad there’s no rhubarb here. I’ve never tasted it, only seen on TV shows, and OMG I cannot die without eating ANY sweet food made from rhubarb. I would love to cook it, too, but I think it’s very unlikely to happen. But oh well, if I start talking about my food dreams I’ll never stop. There are so many delicious food all around the world. I’m so happy I’m Brazilian, because despite not having decent berries or rhubarb at all here, our biodiversity is huge and we have sooooo many vegetables and fruits that people overseas have never heard of. I love vegetables and fruits. I love Mother Nature.

Great to hear from a Brazilian. In Peru, they are farming on the mountainsides so they can grow temperate plants. No idea if you are close enough to Brazil’s mountains or if the ones in your area are high enough, but that would be one option.
Second option. In temperate climates, people build greenhouses to increase the temperature. But if you dig into the ground, the opposite occurs. In India the wells are open air and pretty deep to get that coolness. Perhaps a sunken, enclosed area in the shade would work. If rhubarb needs freezing temperatures, that would have to be done in a refrigerator. A man in India has invented an electric-free refrigerator using a terracotta refrigerator case that you poor water into. Perhaps terracotta walls would also help to lower the temperature.
No idea if these things would work, but if one did, you could make a fortune selling temperate foods grown locally.
Third option is to get someone travelling abroad to bring back some rhubarb. They sell rhubarb jam or preserves in the UK, but I don’t remember any local product for sale here or I would offer to send you a jar. Most people here get it fresh. On the other hand, our mangos are picked green and usually taste horrible because they seldom ripen properly. I think more people would love to eat a sweet, juicy mango than a tart stick of rhubarb (Lithuanians eat it raw like celery.), so you have the better end of the deal.
Hi Vaneesa M Y . Thanks for the link , I am going to check it out later . Yes rhubarb is great , especially in a pie with hot custard poured over it mmmmm , pie ! Weird fact about rhubarb is you can only eat the stems , the leaves are poisonous .Apologies if you alrrady know this but I think the reason pickling , jam and chutney making is used more here in Europe dates back to the days before tinning and freezing .The main way of preserving fruit and vegetables that you had a glut of was pickling or making jam and chutney out of them. These veg and fruit were seasonal , due to our winters being cold , you can.t grow them all year round . When the first frosts come in Autumn and daylight hours get short , any seasonal fruit and veg will stop ripening , so you want to do something with them rather than let them go to waste . We had a lot of unripened tomatoes left one year so we made green tomato chutney with them .Of course , these days we mostly have freezers and lots of these seasonal foods are available all year round but the tradition of preserving food lives on . Brazil always looks great whenever I see it on T.V . Have a good week .

@Sraige Arturas: I live in Southern Brazil, which is the coldest region in this country. I appreciate all the options given, but see, it’s just inaccessible (geographically or financially speaking). I’ve actually seen on a TV show from my state that a farmer here was growing and selling blueberries, but he wasn’t making much money out of it because there was little or no demand for them in the supermarkets. Most Brazilians have never eaten them, and I don’t know whether it’s a cultural thing, but I see that people here don’t like trying new things. If they like something, they really stick with it; what means that if they like apples, oranges and bananas, they’ll just buy apples, oranges and bananas. As for someone else bringing some rhubarb for me, my sister-in-law lives in London, she came visiting last December, and I thought of asking her to bring some rhubarb, but as I had never met her in person, I preferred not to. In my head, it would be something like “Hi, I’ve been dating your brother for five years, I know we have never spoken to each other because when I started seeing him you already lived in London, but won’t you bring me some rhubarb, preferably fresh?”. Haha. 😛
Oh, and thank you so much for offering to send me this jam you’re talking about! So curious now about how it tastes… Of course I have a preference for fresh food (I think living on a farm with so many fresh food around has spoiled me), but I’d definitely enjoy trying all the “non-fresh” food as well, as long as they’re not those purely industrialized food made for people who don’t like to cook, or supposedly don’t have time for it. @BigPhil:Yes, I knew the leaves are poisonous. No need to apologize, though. 😉 I used to watch Jamie Oliver’s shows and I’ve seen him growing, harvesting, using rhubarb in his recipes, and of course he’d say that the leaves are poisonous, so we couldn’t eat nor smoke them, lol.

Thanks for the feedback. Have never been to Latin America, so really nice to learn a bit about life there. Btw, for readers not educated about rhubarb, the stems are also poisonous, esp. when eaten raw. I believe there is an immediate reaction like vomiting if you eat too much raw at one time. The bigger problem is that the acid in it inhibits calcium assimilation in the body. So a food that should be eaten in moderation, at least for those who need a full calcium intake.
I don’t know about the rest of you but I’ve had old grey mare and we put the spring in Springfield stuck in my head since the level update!
On a completely unrelated note, I took the long jaunt from central London out to the suburbs from ikea yesterday and completely rolled my ankle. Now I can’t walk very well so my husband is keeping me bed/ chair bound. I’m going slightly stir crazy!
I’ve had Old Gray Mare in my head since Thursday lol!! I thought singing it out loud might get rid of it and get it in someone ELSE’S head but my boyfriend is just getting annoyed heh. I haven’t bought one yet (saving for Halloween/Xmas) but I’m planning on building a nice barn area behind the ol Simpson farm when I get the land.
If you told me there would EVER be a time that Wales were within touching distance of a major football tournament, I’d have laughed at you. Yet a victory over Israel in a few hours will see is doing exactly that (as we’d have confirmed our qualification to Euro 2016).
PS – That football is what the Americans here would call soccer.
I’m watching the Wales game on the sky app on my iPad whilst watching the Formula 1 highlights on my TV. The difference is that I know the result of the F1 so don’t need to watch too closely.
All I can say is ‘Come on Wales!’ I’m half English, half Welsh so follow both.

I apologizes if this has been asked and answered already before I haven’t had the time to follow the blog like I use to. I was wondering if you guys think EA will ever add a collect all function to the game? I enjoy playing and love the connections with the show but it is starting to take up a lot of my life because of how much stuff needs collecting from. It takes me almost an hour to go in and collect. I try to go in a couple times a day and after my first initial collection of the day its better, but there are many days I either don’t go in at all or if I do it is because there is an event like right now and I will only collect the event currency. I hope they add one because I love playing but may need to stop playing or cut back on playing at least for awhile because I just don’t have that much time to spend on it daily. Thanks!
I don’t much read into files but my best friend does. She says there’s an unrealesed event/building that will pull in money from all buildings near by. I’m not sure of all the details behind it but the radio is will expand some how. Take all this with a grain of salt because the giant toilets been sitting in the files for YEARS!! This may never happen.
I read somewhere about an IRS building being able collect cash within a given tap radius but you have to spend a lot of in game currency in order to increase the radius. Plus there’s also meant to be a function for the Office of Unemployment that enables you to put multiple charachters on the same length of task. Hope both of these come soon.
I like to think they would, but can’t imagine they ever will. It’s called “Tapped Out” for a reason after all. 🙂
I dunno if this counts as a spoiler so forgive me, but there’s been talk that there’s something in the files to collect all tasks, but no one knows when/if it’ll ever be released.
I agree though, takes me about half an hour each morning to clear the night shift and put everyone on their day shift tasks. It’s getting tedious!
I’m in the same boat. I have 80 playable characters right now in the game. After tapping everyone out…finding them can be tough sometimes…,setting up their tasks, and tapping out buildings, it takes me about 20-30 minutes to make sure I’ve gotten everyone and assigned tasks correctly. The events make it longer as I make sure I’ve done things as I want them. Regular play with level quests are a little bit better as I pre-plan my characters action plans for the week. Tapping everyone out at the same time would be a great option. I’ve been wanting that for quite some time now.
Here’s a tip for finding everyone – use town hall! What I usually do is to tap on everyone that I see, then scroll through the town hall list looking for anyone who isn’t “Waiting for a task.” The “Go to” button will take you right to those folks and even collect their thumb for you. Then back to town hall to keep scrolling through the list until I get to the end and I know that everyone is waiting for a task! 🙂
Unfortunately, I can’t really use that method during this event, though, because I have too many people busy at all times with the recycling, etc. But it’s usually a pretty effective strategy.
There is a possible addition like that. One never knows if it will be released, but it’s in the files (so I hear). So, keep your chin up!
Thanks everyone for the replys! I don’t usually mind tapping away but it is starting to be too much with all the people and buildings. Maybe I will do shifts and send everyone on 24 hr tasks but do 1/3 start in the AM, 1/3 at Lunch and 1/3 in the PM and see if that makes things quicker for me.
I’d like something like that, but I’m guessing not, for the very reason if I collect too fast in my town as it is, the game boots me, think if you have 20-100 things being collected, might freeze up.
The scenic ride feature is very nice. However, my game would freeze often and ironically I need to disconnect the monorail to keep playing.
Frustrating, my game still freezes up whenever I connect the monorail track to a station. I am hoping it’ll get fixed by the time the event is over.
On an up beat note I’m sitting on pins and needles waiting for the “should I buy” posts, I can’t wait to hear about the ants and Belle. Also looking forward to the monorail’s last prize so I can see how this “donut” thing is gonna work.
Loving the monorail event, quite glad I’m already working towards the 5th prize as tomorrow is the first day of school and therefore the first proper day of my teaching degree course. Might not have quite so much time to devote to playing now. Can only use my phone in the staff room during breaks, they are very strict on mobile phone use for the kids so the staff have to be the same. Means I can only play TSTO first thing in the morning and once I’m home from school. I’ve already had 2 days in school on training days and it wasn’t too bad.
Are any others of you guys super happy your purchased the teleporters last Halloween? I hesitated to get them, but I’m glad I did – they are incredibly useful for popping between grinding for the monorail and grinding for Springfield Heights! I have one by the dump and one by the coffee shop.
Yes! I did the same thing, it’s so convenient to have a shortcut between the recycling area and the Heights — especially since I put my recycling area alllll the way at the south (bottom) end of town. Sometimes I’ll forget that I have the teleporter and start scrolling up, then suddenly remember and scroll back down!
I love my teleporters! Wish I had more.

Completely right regarding teleported. How many playing have ’em collecting dust in inventory? Lovely to manage space in mili-seconds rather than dragging. Good post!
curious… if you have them collecting dust in inventory, why did you purchase them for 50 donuts in the first place?

For those without teleporters, the Shop furniture icon will pull you to the shop from anywhere. So put the shop where you want to go. Plenty of crafting items to buy with furniture, so not a problem keeping it active. I have it will all my other active items like the shuttle, recycling, etc.
There’s teleporters?! Hope they come back in if they are just a side-purchase in an event.
Thoroughly enjoying this event. And best of all my 90 day corn is finishing in 1 week. So I plan a major re-design after this event!
Why did you do corn? As far as I can tell it’s a long time for not as great of a return on the money. Am I missing something?

I also constantly keep corn growing in my town. I still remember that one time it got rushed for carrots. Thanks EA. every 90 days is new corn for me. It’s just one less thing to tap on. I don’t care abut money returns. I have over 100 million saved up. I only visit neighbors for donuts.

Yes, when you have tons of characters to set on tasks, time becomes more valuable. I, however, use the farm to tell me if the radio and TV stations are broadcasting as I do all three at the same time. So I use a 4 hour task.
i did it once, but won’t do it again. several times i wanted to store cletus away to retask him on something else, only to realize i’d ruin my crop if i did so. besides that, collecting the crop once it’s finally done is pretty unfulfilling… no fanfare or anything associated with the 3 month wait.
For me, it Triffids almost all of the time. They’re the best crop for getting XP and, when Marge is available for me to use to speed yo them up, I can get three crops in a day!
I do corn because A) it’s one less thing to tap, B) it gives me a timetable for redesigning my Springfield to reflect stuff from events.
I’m looking forward to the next MAJOR redesign, probably after the inevitable Halloween event- get that monorail (monorail!) arranged like a real public transit system to cover as much of Springfield as possible. I also unlocked the last bit of land in Springfield Heights today, so I can really revamp that area.

I was thinking about growing corn, but probably when I no longer play. Then when I get nostalgic, I come back to some corn and money. (Yes, I’d need a friend to visit.) I like these other reasons people had. Some of these ideas require that I be a filthy rich millionaire, though…. I’m not one, yet. 🙁
