Looks like Ol’ Gil has made a return to Springfield…and this time he’s brought loads of Oktoberfest gear with him!
Going through all the details now…so as always we’ll be back with more in just a bit…
P.S. This Gil deal hitting now tells me we’re likely to see Halloween (assuming EA does an event this year, which I have no reason not to believe they would) next Tuesday or Wednesday (October 6th or 7th)…
So as you should all know by now Gil deals are donut deals. So if you have no interest in spending donuts…pass on them. There are only 2 new items associated with this event, everything else is either in the store already or returning from a previous event.
As always we’ll do Should I Buys for items we don’t already have them for…just give me a little time to assess and get them written up 😉 Initial thought process…with the exception of maybe Beer Stein Wiggum (who’s initially jumping out at me..) save your donuts for Halloween.
Now onto the content…
FIRST let’s talk about a couple of changes NOT Oktoberfest related..
In Springfield Heights the Tennis Courts are now gone. Hope you took advantage while it was here…
In your regular store menu (check new and premium sections) you’ll find the IRS Drone. It’s now been released to our games for 50 donuts. From what I can tell initially, it doesn’t do anything other than fly around Springfield.
Now onto the Oktoberfest Gil Deals….
Gil: According to my “Kill Yourself Tomorrow!” daily affirmation calendar, this week is Oktoberfest! do you know what that means?
Uter: Ja! Oktoberfest is my favorite holiday. It combines ze gluttony of Thanksgiving with ze overeating of Halloween!

Everything ends October 6th, 2015 at 0800 GMT. Various Deals expire on different dates, so be sure to check the timers in your store.
As we’ve seen with some other Gil deals in the past this will be released in waves. With some stuff hitting today, more coming on Friday and still more to be released on Sunday.
This is also a rebate Gil deal. So spend the donuts up front and you’ll get some back once you make the purchase. Not a bad deal…if you have the donuts.

I am sorry if this I’m going to say is not apropiate for this post, but I really need your help, because time is hurry. I have 207 donoughts now. I been playing since January, so I never seen a Halloween event, so what do you think I sould do?
For me Ütter is ok, dont really like too much, but maybe it’s the best deal. But I also want to buy Lurleen, cause I really love her. The problema for my is that I don’t really know what could came in Halloween, so I don’t know if with two thousands donoughts it should be good. What kind of thinks I could spend my money in? Decorations? I’ve been saving all the donoughts if get onle in order to spend it in the best things, but now I am very insecure with what to do. Do have any idea or just remember something of last year? This would be very helping for me.

There are five possibly directions: 1. classic characters like Frink that help make events easier and more fulfulling, 2. Characters like Plopper that help with one event and then never help out again, 3 Items that give a bonus which helps to raise the vast sums of money the game now calls for, 4. Items that generate an income and nothing more like the Monorail Cafe, and 5. Items that contribute nothing, like Burns’ latest statue. In order to be happy, you need to pick one or two directions and concentrate on those. An item in any category can have an emotional appeal and be a happy must-buy, which is fine. But buying everything will cost hundreds of real dollars, so it is better to find a direction. Now that I have enough tennis courts, I am focusing in event characters to make events more fun to play. At the moment, Lurleen and Greta do not have much event potential, but at the price, I am willing to take the chance that they will be used in the future. Otherwise I would not have bought them until an event used them. Belle, for example, was an easy reject for me because she is full price and not used in an event. If you do not care about events (plenty of time to get all of the prizes playing freemium, for example), then concentrate on something else, like decorations that catch your eye. A lot of these may be on sale over Halloween and Christmas, which is why so many people are excited about the upcoming holidays. But once again, you probably will not have enough to buy all the decorations that catch your eye. This is where having a criteria about the amount of return an item offers comes in handy (categories 3-5 above). It is much easier to reject a tennis court at 100 donuts because the associated bonus is too small and you won’t have any regrets. This will also help keep you from getting the blues after buying a disappointing item. But until you have played for a while, it is difficult to formulate what direction you want to follow.
Quick question: any idea how likely it is for Lurleen and Greta to get used during the upcoming Halloween event (if it does come)? None of them really interests me that much, but I’ll be kicking myself if they get put to use during the event and I didn’t get them earlier at the discount price.
I ended up getting Jesse (along with Uter and Dewey) only at the last days of the Monorail event, when I realized the Rail Yard was permanent…
You never know, honestly. Kids usually will get used in some capacity. But as far as Lurleen, it’s a crap shoot. My gut says no, but with EA who the heck knows.

maybe next year we will have a Breast-Cancer Awareness Rebate (with all these Pink glazed donuts), Pink items including Homer with Pink shirt, pink buildings and surgeons with Bossumy characters like Booberella and (Large) Marge skin, also a Marge with the pink dresses… Now I know some people around here are not fans of pink and B.C. awareness may not seem all that important since most of these readers (or poll takers) are men But I’m sure at least 4 out of 5 of those guys would Support Breasts and the fight against the cancer.

I think that’s a great idea. Especially if they offered a bunch of premium stuff where a portion of the doughnuts were donated to research and treatment.

I would really like to get those windmill things i see in some people’s towns. I think they were from clash of the clones, long before i started playing. I think they would go great with Oktoberfest, especially the little Oktoberfest area i created with the Oktoberfest gate, the hungry Hun, the table from the stonecutters black market sale (my first donut spend, right when i started playing), the beer stacks i got with st Patrick’s day, the BBQ pig and some other tables and chairs and pine trees. I will probably also buy another German flag for the area (i got one with tapball and have it around my stadium with all the other flags). I always make little event areas/parks. I have a park for valentines day and easter and areas for superheros, st particks day, monsarno, tapball and a monorail junkyard. I wish they would increase the item limit though, I’m already over 6000 and I’m not done decorating, not to mention the new content that will probably be released with Halloween (my first one!). I love decorating, its the main reason i play this game and fork out money for donuts (apart from loving the Simpsons of course!). Oh, I’d also like a couple of beer fountains like the ones in krustyland. The green st Patrick’s day ones look best in my st Patrick’s day area. Just putting my little wish list out there!
oh, and I have a little Pride area!
Bought Uter for the Monorail event, so at least he helped me extra track pieces and weekly donuts since I’m missing the big rebate. Glad I held off on Lurleen and Greta so I can take advantage of the rebate. Usually I have everything that’s offered in Gil’s rebate specials so I’m glad to finally be able to take advantage.
Also bought the sign for the Hungry Hun “courtyard” and will pick up a flag and Wiggum’s skin. Got the Duff tree and barrels free last year, and purchased a fountain in the early days of SP. Thought about more, but saving donuts for Halloween and Christmas.
Do you suppose, if we all call EA chanting “Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!” we might get a Halloween update sooner?

Great to see returning characters with rebate, and even more great seeing Fresh items. Might be nice to see Hans and Fritz (Germans that bought the Power Plant in one episode), Pretzel Wagon (Pretzels are German created), and out of a cruel irony with all this Beer items, how about Sober Barney skin (that would be very tempting).
I understand Oktoberfest (not sure why it isn’t spelled October-fest… maybe it’s the German spelling). With all these alcholic items I wonder if It is also a hint to the THOH Event, as if Homer can’t get a drop of the stuff and with No Beer and No TV we get Homer something-something Skin (my favorite THOH Homer quote).
And a Suds McDuff skin for S.L.H. 🙂
I was going to say that Pretzels were an Austrian invention, but fortunately checked Wikipedia first. The only thing in agreement is that they started in monasteries, but whether those monasteries were in Italy, France or Germany is up for grabs.
And yes, Oktoberfest being a German (Bavarian) holiday, it is generally written in German.
I was saving my donuts for Halloween as there will likely be lots of cool things available but I couldn’t resist picking up Üter. I think I might also pick up Lurleen. Thanks a lot, Gil, ein prosit!

I picked up the Wiggum Stein skin and so far, I think it’s great. 1st task in the quest line is a 4 hour visible stakeout with awesome animation. Feeling giddy, I tried a few scratch offs. 1 bowling ball, 3 cleavers (50 donuts!) and 3 mallets (20 donuts)!!! The scratch off tickets seem to have looser odds lately, especially if you buy 4 or 5 in a row. I’ve hit 3 hatchets (100 donuts) twice in the last month or so without spending too much. Anyone else notice this?
I bought five yesterday. Got 12-9-6-9-12 donuts. Meh. 😉
I have tried the scratch offs many times including just now getting 3. I have never gotten more than 12 with the majority of the time getting only 6. Just now was 6-6-12. As a freemium player its not worth the effort if you aren’t going to get any discount on the price of donuts on a regular basis. 6 donuts for 99c is regular price. The mystery box has better rewards for the price despite the chance of getting non-donut items.
Halloween event is always my favorite (Xmas is great too). I started playing during Treehouse of Horror 2013 and that’s what got me hooked. I know I should save donuts but think I’ll jump on the Wiggum Stein.

I bought the skin for wiggum, a coupe of fountains and the gate… Don’t know where to place it just yet but I’ll find a place for it… And then the drone but as with all the pets and animals it doesn’t do much… But I got all the other stuff already so now I’m just waiting for the next Halloween event ! One event I look forward to every year:0) I hope the fog and dead trees are back… I missed that last year

My partner’s Springfield has been damaged since the ios9 update, the whole north west corner has disappeared and lots of other glitches (she still managed to play a lot of tennis though). But she’s found it impossible to get a chat going with EA for a week. Just gets the 5 minute wait notification all the time, for hours on end. Anyone else having this problem? she’s a bit grumpy that EA can find the time to post Gil deals but not to sort out glitches…..
As long as you know we’re not EA and the post comment wasn’t about us…cause we have zero control over what EA does or fixing games.
There have been some issues with chat the last couple of days. All I can say is keep trying. Also, try a full uninstall and reinstall and see if that helps.

While I’m at it, my wish for Halloween would be for the reappearance of Springfield Falls, which was in the game before my time. I’ve got several neighbours who’ve done really creative things to make it blend in and give the appearance that a river runs into it. On another matter, I see a lot of people are suffering with too many curved or wiggly monorail tracks. My master plan for this has been to build one main line which is straight with a few curves around buildings etc, and a separate wiggly line which is the Cletus branch line. Both lines meet at the Cletus station. I seem to remember the dialogue which came with this said that he was going to build his own line so he didn’t have to buy a ticket. It follows he would use all the unwanted bits of track that no one else could use.

A few days ago, EA’s site said the wait for chat was 5 minutes and the wait for a call back was 25, so I picked chat. After 30 minutes of waiting, I gave up and tried the call-back option, which was down to 18 minutes. That worked fine; missing donuts restored and then some. So try the call-back option if you can.
I’m surprised the tennis courts lasted as long as it did ! 🎾
I already got Uter back in the Monorail event. 🚝

I’m confused. I bought the drone but it hasn’t appeared in my Springfield or my inventory, anyone any idea?
It hovers low and can be hard to spot. But check your character collections (the gold homer trophy in the bottom left when you’re in the store menu) and go to animals and pets. See if it’s showing that you have it. If it is, it’s probably hovering in Springfield somewhere. If it’s not then contact EA

I swear my heart stopped for a moment at the thought of no Halloween event, however slight, don’t do that to me! 😉
I am so excited for Halloween I could explode. But good things come to those who wait….and part of me is wishing I had waited for Uter, Lurleen, and Greta, but I’ve really enjoyed having them, so it’s all good. I jumped on the Beer Stein Wiggum (he’s delightful) and am skipping the drone though I think my husband picked it up. I hemmed and hawed a bit over the Oktoberfest entrance, but it’s a good percentage for the price and I am hoping there are various decorations I can use to make it look more Oktoberfesty – maybe they’ll bring back the long tables at Thanksgiving or something. I figure I can make it a fall themed park area. It would be great if we could put something like the fried dough stand on the grass, but alas.
I have one boardwalk fountain on my boardwalk already but it’s very tempting to get a few more for in the town proper if I can figure out a good place for them to go, without regretting the purchase later.
Hey guys / gal’s quick question, are there more items that Gil will have or are these all that is going to be on sale? Cause I think I want Utter (not a bad deal) but I don’t want to have something else pop up after these nine items. Thank-you always,

Really happy I decided to wait on Uter when the Monorail event was going on. Might grab the Beer N’ Brawl when it’s up. Sometimes Gil deals are great. 😀
Every time I have like 30000 exp left to level up it levels me up without having to gain the rest of experience im not complaining just think its weird has anyone else experienced this?

It is 1×6, fairly tall and unfortunately roads can’t go under it. If you line up a road right though it can go right up to the space between the gate and then pavement can continue your path under it.

I bought a gate, but almost immediately regretted it because it doesn’t really fit anywhere. The flags also blow in the wrong direction compared to all the flags already in my town. I had to hide it.
I won’t be bothering with the rest. I already have most of what’s on offer, and I have the stonecutter skin for Wiggum and usually want him singing at the table as he’s one of the few with that option. That pays premium, so it’s not worth getting a premium skin for him.
I put the gate next to the Hungry Hun, so it looks like the entrance to a “beer garden” type area next to the building. Put a few patio tables in there and it looks pretty good….
I’m very excited for the fountains!!!!! I’ve been wanting more for my boardwalk. I hated that we only got one! I just bought two, might buy more.
I also like the wiggam beer one, it’s funny and as a bonus comes with a quest line.
I think I’ll pass on the gate. There’s no place for it in my sf. It’s shiny and new and hard to pass up, but I can’t pull the trigger on this one. And that’s not usually my style, so I KNOW I should pass on this one.
