It’s Halloween in Springfield! And several of the youngsters have costumes available in the store to help get into the festive Halloween spirit! Now I know you may be trying to decide if these are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Radioactive Milhouse, Saxophone Lisa or Wizard Martin to your Halloween party? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding these festive kids to your festivities!
Because all three costumes are so similar in their Pros and Cons, as well as what they do I decided to combine them all into one post.
Character/Skin: Radioactive Man Milhouse

The following are Pros and Cons that apply to all 3…
Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Has some amusing outdoor tasks
-Earn at a premium rate at the campfire
Cons:
-Will not help with the THOH Event (in other words there characters still earn at the freemium rate at the Campfire) Update on 10/21 corrected this
-None of the characters have a full set of tasks
-Expensive for costumes that don’t come with a building/decoration
Final Thought:
Premium or Freemium:
Personally these are probably a pass for most. They don’t really do much and their tasks are limited. While it’s fun to have the characters dress up, there’s no real added benefit to having these guys in your town. So for the most part I’d pass. However, if you really love one of the costumes then go for it. Since most premium decisions come down to if you like it or not.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell I’ll most likely pass on all three of these. However, this IS a limited-time item. So if you’re thinking about getting one of them make sure you make your final decision before they leave our games at the end of the Halloween Event.

Meh. Was about to jump on Wizard martin but he only has two tasks and both are 4 hrs. Really? And Sax Lisa’s tasks are all 4hr.? LAAAAAME! Lisa in various skins has way too many 4 hr. visible tasks. Also, there are too many visible asks outside Springfield Elementary now. It’s easy to overlap them. This is not my favorite Halloween event.
I agree they are a bit meh. Not as good as previous years costumes. But I really like collecting character skins so I got em. One thing I really do like is that Lisa’s costume has those hands playing the sax. And they arent yellow so in my mind they are the disembodied hands of Bleeding Gums Murphy!
I purchased Martin’s right away because I don’t have a premium skin for him, and I love the bit it originates from. But I am disappointed in the truncated task list…probably still would have bought him though 🙂
The Lisa costume creeps me out in the bad way and the Milhouse is a bit meh (and I have his Fall Out Boy costume) so they’re both a pass.
WOW, I am *so* glad I waited for this SIB, Alissa!! I really wanted a premium skin for Martin (as the only other skin I have is Ice Princess Martin, who only has a couple of premium tasks), and then I was thinking if I bought him, I should just cave and buy the set. With those sad task lists? I would have been livid. If EA was going to keep the tasks minimal, they should have just offered them as freemium with regular freemium payout. It seems like they really phoned this one in.
However, I’m enjoying the event so far and looking forward to things to come!

Yea not too thrilled with the tasks. Wondering if they’ll add more later or if that’s it. Seems like they’re minimizing tasks with costumes this time around (Pirate Kang also has a short task list)
I hope they bring back the kid’s trick or treat costumes from last year and make them permanent skins. I am enjoying the event and look forward to what is to come.
Disappointing costumes for the kids this Halloween, and with only 3 (plus Bart’s costume to come) this is a major let down for what has been slated as the most anticipated event of the year. Major let down with the prizes too- why are the majority of prizes repeats from previous years? Feels like they had no new ideas for this year so just recycled things from pervious THOH events and then throw in some pretty unhalloween like costumes for a mere number of kids. No way am I spending donuts on these, but thanks again for the post and run thru 🙂
There is still a LONG time left in this Event. With just a few days in… there is still a LOT more to come into play. 😉
I picked up Milhouse’s costume right away. Just liked the look of it, and I don’t have a premium skin for him. The other two are total snoozers. Was hoping the SIB would reveal something awesome. Glad I waited for it. I would like to see this Martin v. CBG fight, but not quite awesome enough. Thanks for your insight Alissa! Very much appreciated.

The visual task with CBG is the glory – I was dying laughing when they started. My issue is that all three of them have multiple other costumes, but I’m a completionist so there ya go. Def a pass for my freebie game. Saving for Frink!
Well EA got me. I’m a character set completion player so even thou they are, in my opinion, a waste of sprinkles I bought them all because EA put them in a set, lol.

While visiting my neighbours I am noticing that some of my neighbors’ children are wearing their costumes from last years event. I played and completed everything last year ( including that house Iam being forced to craft again…. Lol). So I guess my question is where are these costumes coming from, I don’t have them as skins for my kids.

It’s a visual glitch that’s been going on for months and related to the Nightmare pile.
btw, you probably don’t need to craft a new spooky house after all, if you have last year’s out of storage – the Kang questline opened for me without it, and the quest to build a new one has gone from my taskbar – maybe one of the patches over last couple of days fixed that glitch?
I still have the quest to build a spooky house, even though the one I have from last year is out.
Sandra, have you unlocked the Pirate Kang skin yet? It was when I was part way through the pirate questline that the main Kang questline seemed to open up, even though I hadn’t crafted a new spooky house this time round.
Then again, it’s not like we have a whole lot of new cool stuff to spend crafting supplies on, so unless something better pops up in Act 2 we might all end up making 23 spooky houses just to pass the time …
I got the pirate skin and am at part 2 of the questline (Homer is hiding). Maybe that will happen later?
Hi Sandra, are you sure you’re not already on the Midgalaxy Crisis questline? I seem to remember that Homer playing dead was part of that.
Yes, I guess I am! LOVED the image of Homer playing dead…wish that was a permanent task choice.
I’d like to have them, just as another reminder for this THOH Event, but they are a bit pricey. If they will be keeping the story-telling task at the campfire after the event I would gladly pass on the costumes, but I guess we won’t be knowing that before the event is over. Fortunately there is still a couple of weeks left in which to come to a final decision. Knowing myself, I probably won’t be able to say no in the end, if just to complete the character set. Still regretting the Lumpy-shaped hole in the Whacking Day set after all these years 🙂
I suspected they probably wouldn’t be worth it, but thanks for confirming it (been tempted to get the Martin one, I like the design). One and eight hour tasks are the ones I use most, so the premium payout won’t be worth it after the event. I might still pick up one or two if they bumped up the event payouts – but they don’t even do that. Huge disappointment and oversight on EA’s part.
The premium items have been pretty meh so far for this event. Hopefully Clockwork Orange Bart will be free.

I’m actually surprised at the lack of purchasable items so far this year. Only 4 premium items? No freemium items like jack-o-lanterns or other decorations?

I was thinking the exact same thing. I started playing the game just last year right before Halloween and at the time wasn’t purchasing many donuts so I didn’t get a lot of the fun things they had then like Maude Flanders, etc. I was hoping for Raven Bart and Maude and other purchable Halloween items this year, I hope they start adding some soon. 🙁

I’m disappointed in the task lists. Martin’s skin looks great and I’d love a visual task with CBG, but 75 doughnuts for a four hour premium task is a bit much. I think I’ll be keeping my doughnuts this time.

Plus out of all the costumes Milhouse, Lisa and Martin have worn over the years these are not on my list as top ten (though to be honest I never made a list I just assume), I’ll wait for Wookie to post all their alternative costumes over the years (just the THOH stuff is fine). 😛
Martins costume isn’t even from a THOH anyway.
I would value these outfits at auction (with today’s market) at 5 donuts Tops. (But again think they all should have been free) IMO
Martin’s costume is from a THOH, season 7 I believe. It’s the parody of Nightmare on Elm Street, where Willie plays the Freddy Krueger character. Martin is the “wondrous wizard of Latin” in his dream, and Willie kills Martin by squeezing him to death with his tongue.
It’s one of my favorite episodes (I’m a big fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street series), and I may end up getting his outfit because of it…even if it only adds two tasks.

Thanks for this– just the information I was looking for about these costumes. I’d really like to have premium skins for these characters, especially Lisa, the only Simpson I don’t have one for. But without a full set of tasks or any help with the event it’s just not worth it. Oh well, guess I’ll just have to hope they offer Queen Helvetica again sometime soon.
I was really hoping they would release the evil clown bed again so all my kids could have costumes. I couldn’t afford it when it was available. *sigh*
Yeah but only one kid can use it at a time. Plus the kids are at the campfire continously.
When your neighbors visit though they’ll see more than one kid exit the campfire in costume.
Seems like in the past costumes that didn’t benefit the events were 20-30 less donuts. Am I remembering that correctly? These are all a pass for me.
Just because they do not right this moment, does not mean they won’t come into play later in the Event. We still got a month to do. 😉

Even more strange to0 me is that one of the early event prizes is a costume for Kang yet, Kang himself isn’t purchasable or winnable as part of the event. I know most long time players have him from previous Halloween events but surely there’s a lot of new players that weren’t around last year.
Not too strange. Many events we have had Costumes for Characters we don’t yet have. Usually an option to buy said Character comes along. 🙂

Kodos has been referred to both genders throughout the series.
I started last year, and I think I remember Kang unlocking for free with a quest. I think he did that again this July 4. They are probably already dropping him into new players’ towns.
If you don’t have Kang, you get him when you craft the Spooky Grove
It seems weird that Lisa’s is cheaper, but she has a TON more permanent tasks. Having Martin fight with CBG would be amazing, but for 75 for 2 tasks? Seems steep.

That was my thought, too. I have premium skins for all of them, so there isn’t much point. PLUS the fact that they don’t have a full task list. That’s just lazy on EA’s part.
I couldn’t have put it any better myself.. Lazy.. I was really wanting saxaphone Lisa (just thought that was such a great couch gag), even though between the monorail & SH I’d barely have a chance to use it.. But for a few 4 hour tasks EA can eat it.
