10/22 In-Game Update: XP Collider and Frink’s Special Offer (Updated and Complete)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Looks like the trifecta of updates has hit us today.  Tuesday we got Act 2, Wednesday we got the THOH Episode Tie-in and today we just got the XP Collider!

What is it?  What does it do?  What the heck do I want that for?  All that and more will be revealed below the fold as soon as I go through it… 😉

Back with more in a bit…(looking into the Frink deal…i’ve got to check a low level game)

Ok guys…for the life of me I can’t get anywhere with Frink’s deal some of you are seeing.  I’ve tried 5 different games…still can’t get it to trigger.  So I’m completely flying blind on that at the moment.  Wondering if it’s an out of the US deal?  Or something else is just screwy with it….gonna do a little more research and see if i can find anything… (in the meantime if someone wants to email me (TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com) a screen grab of the deal I’d appreciate it ) Ahha!  I finally got Frink’s deal to trigger!  (It triggered for me once I completed the XP collider quest)  More details on Frink’s deal below the fold

2015-10-22 19.17.21

Note: Several of you are reporting the Office of Unemployment is back.  Yes.  That came back with yesterday’s App Store Update…you can see the top of this post for more on that.

So things will start off for you with some auto start dialogue from Homer…

Glayvin the Score Pt.1
Auto-start

Homer: Rebuilding Springfield used to happen so fast–five minute jobs, hour-long build time– but now it’s taking forever.
Lisa: Maybe it has something to do with escalating lumber costs…
Homer: Yeah, or maybe the game designers are trying to slow us down because they’re running out of content.
Frink: Ahoyvin!  While that use to be the case, it’s not anymore.  There’s tons of stuff still to do…and I’ve found a way to race through it!

At this point you’ll be asked (told) to place the XP Collider in your Springfield…it’s free and 7×7 in size…

XP_Collider

Then to show off what it does..and explain it to you a little more you’ll get part 2 of Glayvin the Score….

Glayvin the Score Pt.2
Auto-start Frink

Frink: Behold…the XP Collider! With this machine, and a bit of what you might call ‘hard work’, you can increase your efficiency by five hundred percent!
Homer: Ugh.  Can you just tell us what it does in lame-mans terms?
Frink: It makes stuff awesome.  Give it a whirl with a simple task!
Homer: I’ll do the simplest!
Make Homer Play with his MyPad- 45s

Homer: OH MY GOD.  What is this feeling?  Most American car horns honk in the key of F.  Every time you lick a stamp, you consume a tenth of a calorie…Reindeer like to eat bananas.  Wait…reindeer like to eat BANANAS??  What is happening to me?  Why do I know all this useless but super cool stuff?  I feel… S-M-R-T.  Smart.
Frink: That is the miraculous work of the XP Collider.  From now on, every time someone does something in this Springfield, everybody will get the intellectual benefits.
Homer: Does that mean I can sit around and do nothing from now on and reap the benefits?
Frink: Well, you still have to get up periodically and recharge the collider.
Homer: Get up?! UGH, it’s always something!

So in simple terms…what is it/what does it do?

It increases your XP on everything over a period of time by 5x.  When you clear jobs or buildings you’ll see blue XP popup and award you extra XP…

2015-10-22 19.23.17

When it’s active your XP Bar will also turn to the same blue color..

2015-10-22 19.23.39

Why the heck do you want it?

Well it boosts your XP level quickly…could help you level up faster or get to the bonus round for free donuts quicker.

TSTO Bonus level up

What does it cost?

Well, like a lot of things the first try is free and then it’ll cost you after.  The first 24hrs of the XP Collider arriving in Springfield are free…after that it’ll cost you donuts to recharge it (see you wonder what EA was doing giving away all those free donuts).

2015-10-22 19.26.26

2015-10-22 19.26.44

Here’s the cost breakdown:

2015-10-22 19.26.38

2015-10-22 20.02.40

Should I use it?

Personally…I don’t think it’s worth it.  The cost itself doesn’t make sense.  And often times if you level up quicker than your game play (i.e. XP says a higher level than your game play does) you’ll get stuck and wonder why you can’t unlock more.  It doesn’t pay to level up fast via XP when you’re still moving slow at quests/character unlocks.

Plus if you wanted to use this for donut farming it’s not worth it. I’m not a fan of spending donuts to get free donuts.  You should be saving all of your free donuts for something you want…especially if there’s a free way to get more donuts.  You’re still way better off spending in game cash (i.e. the freemium way) on blood mobiles and rat trap delivery trucks to get loads of XP for free.

Rat Trap Delivery Truck bloodmobile 2

So in the end…enjoy the first 24hrs and then I’d just ignore it after that.

Best Use for It While It’s Free?

If you’re on the max level of TSTO (Level 58)…buy LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of Blood Mobiles and Rat Trap Trucks…you’ll get LOADS of free donuts.  (via the Bonus Round)

And there you have it…the breakdown on the XP Collider…

Now once you’ve completed the XP Collider questline you’ll get Frink’s Special Offer to popup.  Note: this will ONLY appear if you don’t have any of the mystery buildings or Mystery Characters..the list includes:

Duff Man & Duff Brewery
Frink & Frink’s Lab
Otto & the School Bus
Aztec Theater
Try ‘N Save
Duff Stadium

This means..if you have 1 of those buildings/characters you will not see this deal.

Here’s the deal…

2015-10-22 20.23.29

So for $5.99 in the US (not sure what it is in other countries…feel free to discuss in the comments) you’ll get:
-The 10 Day Collider Pack…so 10 days of 5xp
-1 Premium Character Mystery Box
-1 Premium Building Mystery Box
-150 Donuts
-$250,000

This is a GOOD deal.  If you have the money and can, take this deal.  But wait until your free 24hrs are up before you get it.  That way you get the most out of the XP Collider.

Note: if you close out the deal and are looking for it again…you’ll find it in your store, it’ll look like this:
2015-10-22 20.25.29
What are your thoughts on the XP Collider?  Can you justify spending the donuts for the XP Boost?  Will you be spending the donuts?  Do you still farm for donuts via Rat Trap Delivery and the Blood Mobile?  How about Frink’s Deal?  Will you be taking it? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Yeah thanks a lot EA, for nothing. I spent all the money to buy every one of these things, except for the Duff themed ones, and now they do this?! Well, hopefully people are going to start putting less money into this game, since EA makes a fool out of whoever invests in it. I know I will. Way to go.

  2. for those of you who didnt see frinks deal (due to already having premium), if you go to the regular tap to buy donuts in the game, does frinks deal appear for you there? mine shows it next to the boatload of donuts…it probably wont, but just through i would throw that out there since i noticed it there

  3. WAIT !!!!
I didn’t read the fine print of the deal !
I did not realize that you got a premium character and a premium building and 150 donuts.
Just the donuts alone for $5.99 is a good deal !
I don’t care too much about the 10 days of the collider, but the rest makes it a great deal.
    So I bought it.
Got Otto and Duff Stadium (Duff stadium will go into storage, cause I don’t like it)
    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    And with the 150 donuts, i bought Sherri/Terri !!!!!!!!!!!
    Double WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  4. I have on question. As it’s the first time that I really want to buy something in-game, how can I confirm that purchase are allowed in my country for TSTO (Im from Brazil)??

    • I’m sure there are other players here from Brazil,
If you can download the game & updates then surely you can make purchases because it goes through the app store that you use 🙂

    • alex - aabcampos2

      Yes its is allowed.

You will pay with the credit card associeted with your apple ID.

  5. One happy tapper here just won otto and duff stadium and with my free 150 donuts I’ve now got 283 donuts which I’m going to keep saving and wait to see if there’s a Black Friday sale in a few weeks. Could be up to nearly 400 by the time I keep winning 20 every week!! This was my first premium purchase but seemed too good to pass 😀

  6. I agree with commenters, that Frink’s deal is great. I got it for my son immediately. I also agree that it seems really unfair that those of us who have played longer don’t get to take advantage of it. $6 may not seem like a lot, in its own. But all the players that would spend the $6 (me being one of them), adds up. I spend $10 on this game, each year, at this time. That’s it. I’m poor lol. So far, nothing has been interesting enough for me to spend it, so I just hadn’t yet. I was waiting for Christmas. I would’ve bought this deal, in addition to my $10. Especially since I only have Frink and Otto. But, I’ve decided to not spend my $10 at all, now. $16 doesn’t seem like a lot, EA, but with all the players you’re leaving out, it could be.

  7. Thanks Addicts for this post. I received the Frink offer in my B game (freemium only) but not my A game (a bit premium) and came here for advice because I wanted it for my A. I never would have figured that out on my own.
I’d like to echo the posters on here and say that I am really disappointed to be shut out of this one. I have three of the items. It seems like a really weird and illogical business decision by EA to punish people who have (in many cases) spent real world money with them, and I don’t like dealing with companies that make weird and illogical decisions!

  8. This is rubbish. How unfair for anyone who has saved their donuts or spent money to get even one of these things. I got credit on my Google account for my birthday and I spent it on donuts and got otto, so now I miss out on an even better deal that my flatmate just got and up til now he hasn’t bought a thing. Is EA punishing people who have their donuts for great characters or who actually spend money ? At least offer those who don’t have all the building/characters the chance to get the other ones, and the premium players or players with all the buildings should be offered a slightly different deal of more donuts or something… This is rubbish and really puts me off the idea of spending more money on the game. I hope EA sees how they’ve messed up and fix this

  9. That’s a bit unfair on those who forked out money for donuts and got one item from the list so are excluded… That’s so so unfair. I got Otto only recently and so I miss out. I would have spent the money on the deal too.
This is unfair on people who have worked hard to save their donuts or even became premium players. EA needs to think about this and make a fair deal for everyone. This is so s***. Count me out on spending more money on the game now.

  10. It’s $9.99 here in Oz. :/

  11. This is one of the many moments I am very happy I follow your posts! I don’t usually pay much attention to the deals that pop up and that would’ve happened with this one too. Thankfully I read about it here and it is an amazing offer, so I took it. Got Frink’s Lab (yay!) and the Try-n-Save (not so yay…). Will probably buy another character/building combo with the donuts awarded. Thank you for the great job you do here!

  12. I have been playing Tsto for a year and I am absolutely disgusted that dedicated players are being punished for buying premium items with their donuts by not getting the frink special. There is 4 of us in our house who play and I am seriously considering deleting all our games

    • While I’m usually on the side of premium players who are being excluded (even though I’m freemium), you might be taking it a bit far. What do your issues with the deal have to do with others in your house?…who might still be enjoying the game and have no qualms about missing out. If they feel the same, then let them delete their own games. No need for a rampage. Your own voice is being heard, but let their voices be theirs. Don’t make the choice for them, just as EA has done for you.

But please consider that this deal was only offered to people who could take advantage of it. Without a site like this, you might not have known about it. I presume that EA figured that each player would either get it or be none the wiser. I don’t know how they would think this for people who play along with other housemates. I don’t know how EA thinks….

Lastly, this isn’t a pure punishment. It was an incentive program for new players. Sadly, it’s not titled “New Player” whatever, but that’s what it’s supposed to be. That older players that haven’t spent money could take advantage just means that EA should have also checked that players were actually “new” and not just “stingy”. 😉 🙁

      • He’s not. I completely understand, this is absolute rubbish. While it’s great to offer this chance to players who don;t spend money on the game, others, such as me, feel like ****. Not only do we pump money into this corporatist game, but now it’s as if they were laughing in our faces. Not cool, EA. Not cool.

      • I didn’t say that I didn’t understand the sentiment. I was mostly pointing out that her feelings shouldn’t result in other people having to feel whatever she was feeling. If she prefers to delete her game in protest and never buy another EA product….she can do that. Just, that might not be what her housemates feel like doing.

Just that part. We now return you to your regularly scheduled outrage…. 😉 😛

      • no offense bro, but if you don’t know the dynamics of katie’s household or the role she plays in it, it’s probably best to avoid commenting on it.

        • I can’t comment…in the comment section? I don’t know the dynamics? Exactly what is said is what I’m commenting on. Just as you have done with me. There’s nothing wrong with this. I guess you must live with Katie and she will be pulling the plug on you soon. You’re fine with this? I see. In what dynamic would you find that to be okay? I don’t find one. See, this is a game, right? And if you play freemium then you aren’t harming anyone. You would also not be helping EA. Only by taking up one of these deals would you be helping. Katie might control the purse, then keeping her housemates freemium sounds reasonable. Deleting something they enjoy just because she’s upset…does not.

If you’re on her side (and you liked her comment, so you must be), then she has just as much right to delete other people’s games as I have a right to comment on those actions. Don’t threaten a delete and I won’t comment on it. (that part’s aimed at her not you) 😉 😛

      • i liked her comment because i agree that dedicated players were essentially being punished. there were no “sides” until you got your keyboard courage up and tried to flex your moral superiority over a woman who was probably just venting in frustration about an unfair deal that left her “absolutely disgusted.” you obviously don’t know katie, her role in the household, or who or what age those family members she was referring to are. most people in this situation have the common decency to keep their mouths shut when it comes to telling others how to run their families, whether they agree with what was said or not, and indeed nobody else acted on the urge to comment about it. but we’ve all seen your inability to resist that urge regarding anything and everything on here, and this IS the comments section, so hey that’s all that matters right? 👎

  13. Anyone else notice that now that the unemployment office is working again that you have lost your Empire State Building with King Kong homer climbing on it? Ever since the update that brought back the unemployment office functionality I no longer have the Empire State Building. I’ve checked everywhere and my entire inventory, it’s just gone!

  14. So I’ve been playing since 2012 but I’ve never really given the XP multiplier much thought, so as a result mine currently stands at 57%. I’m a freemium player but I’ve collected a fair amount of donuts over the years. I’m just wondering, is there any other way to increase your multiplier other than buying premium items? And either way, what are the BEST items to buy?

    • Jet engine bikes.

    • You can currently craft wailing walls for Halloween currency, and they have a good multiplier on them. (I think mine has gone up about 30% in the last few days.)

    • Currently you can craft wailing walls (gives 2.25% and $/xp) and spooky walls (gives 0.05%) from zombie brains and snake eggs. Everything else available now costs doughnuts.

    • Craft wailing walls for 250 brains (give 2.25% and $/xp) and spooky walls for 200 eggs (give 0.05%). Otherwise, everything else available costs doughnuts.

  15. I took Frink’s deal and got Duff Brewery and the Aztec theater. YES! I was strictly a freemium player before now. He made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.
I’m hoping EA will offer up another deal that everyone can enjoy. Even though I was eligible for this one and took it, I can see why people are upset about not being able to partake.

  16. I bought frink’s deal. I got aztec theatre and duff brewery. With my extra donuts I also got frink’s lab. I’m pretty pleased because I’ve been saving my donuts for frink forever.

  17. My game crashed about 90 minutes after I got the XP Collider, while I was tapping on adults finished tasks. After repeated crashes I deleted and reinstalled the app ( hours to d/l all the updates), still crashes at loading screen. Tried EA help, only option was chat (which never did start up even after 20 minutes, tried several times), so tried call me. After nearly 20 minutes, mostly on hold, they verified it was a game problem, was about to elevate it, then said it had been fixed and should be okay soon. Tonight, 24 hours later, I finally get an update and can again enter the game.

I missed nearly all the XP Collider free time, I’m a full day behind on gummies, and wondering if I can even catch up since these pages made clear you need 600+ a day. So now what? Any chance EA will restore my lost time with the XPCollider or my lost gummies? Can’t get EA help to show email option, only chat, which never does open a session, and call me, and I’ve better uses on my time than on hold forever. What happened to the email option?

Anyone else with the crash lockout get the XP Collider time returned or restored, or the lost gummies or am I just SOL?

  18. Ok addicts, I need your help. I purchased the Frinks deal but I didn’t get it in my game. I went to EA help & they said they needed proof of my purchase. They all but flat-out called me a liar. So I contacted Apple & got the order # info. Then I contacted EA again. This time they not only wanted the order # but wanted a screenshot. This person was nicer but it still felt like I was being called a liar. So I have Apple resend my confirmation email. The 3rd time I contact EA (to send them the screenshot) he tells me that I am not eligible to receive Frinks deal. What?!?!? Apple charged my Visa! Then he backtracked & said I would get it but I *just* have to wait 24 hours. I needed to be patient. Are you kidding me?!? I spent 3hours of my day dealing with these jerks & now I am too impatient? I love my game but I will never purchase anything from EA again. Any idea on how to get my stuff? It’s now been about 8 hours & it’s still not there. Would I just be better going back to Apple & asking for a refund? 😪

    • The proof of purchase is typical for EA, or any company, it’s just a way to ensure you were actually charged for it. Sometimes purchases don’t appear, but you don’t get charged for them. So them asking for a screenshot/order is pretty typical. Most gaming companies do the same thing.
If you don’t see your offer today, contact them again. If they give you a hard time tell them you’ll report them to Apple and demand a refund. They have proof of your purchase, and can tell you didn’t get them. Apple will refund you, and usually pretty quick (within 24hrs), but the downside to that is the deal won’t reappear for you.

  19. barleecreations (canid88)

It is a shame this offer isn’t offered to everyone, also they should have let you buy multiples. I would have for sure dished out more money if I could have bought a second of that deal.

  20. What if you have none of those buildings? I’m level 17 and the collided has not shown up.

  21. This is just lame. SO since i have one of the buildings I can’t get the offer? How annoying. I could use the duff brewery 🙁 Total fail EA.

  22. My 24 hours just ended, but I can’t fin Frink’s deal. I don’t have any of the buildings associated with the deal. Thoughts?

  23. I reported my game crashing trouble that I’m having (ever since I bought the frank deal) . My boyfriend got the update before me, didn’t buy the offer and now he can’t find it at all, it’s not in his store I checked my play account t and they got my money, all I got was a crashing tablet. MI feel like Charlie brown ( all I got was a stupid rock).

  24. I bought the deal, game has crashed since I bought it, can’t open it at all yes, I restarted my tablet.

  25. Testing

  26. loquacious1lynn

Time to join in the outrage! Like others I feel punished for being a Premium player while there are so many iOS cheats stealing everything. I could do this, but choose not to play like an entitled moraless brat. Instead I spent good money to participate in this game only to be excluded from EA deals. This is clearly leaving a sour taste behind for this Halloween event, and I hope EA thinks twice and figures a way to turn it around and make an offer fair for everyone. It wasted efforts trying to trigger this deal only to find this out later, and has become a failed promotion in that it angers honest paying players. As soon as the free Collider offer expired I placed it in storage and won’t be feeding it donuts, that’s a promise. I’ll spend donuts on items which permanently increase % bonus instead as this makes far better financial sense. As an object the Collider is ordinary and space consuming unless operational, and I couldn’t think of anywhere to place it that made using my real estate worth leaving it out. These two recent events have received a double raspberry from me. Tsk tsk EA, and 10 lashes from Kang and Kodos too!

  27. Yghh so not happy with this update… slowed down after placing xp collider and stopped loading. Tried reinstaling, deleted files from my device and still not working. EA is not helping only advice is to do all the stuff I did… still didn’t make last challange for bonuts. So not happy :C

  28. Is there some where that better explains what you’re talking about with the blood mobile & rat trap trucks? I feel like there are lots of things I might be missing out on. They give you bonus donuts after you reach max level & Xp boost before that? I’ve never heard/seen that before! 🙀

  29. I just talked to the support. If you have one of the following items (Duff Man and Duff Brewery, Duff Stadium, Frink and Frink’s Lab, Otto and School Bus, Aztec Theater, or Try N Save) you are disqualified for the deal. So if you are playing the game for a long time or have spend money for the game EA doesnt want you to get this good deal. Pretty disappointing decision from EA.
More frustrating for me is that they just changed it with a small patch. I got the deal 2 hours ago. I wanted to check it first on the internet. When i logged in again there was a small patch and the deal was gone…
EA acting this disadvantageously agains long playing or paying gamers makes me wanna quit this game…

    • So…..like it says in the post above?

    • You are not missing out on anything. I bought the deal & have spent all day trying to get EA to honor it & actually give me my purchase. (They haven’t) As good as this deal is it is not worth the headache of dealing with EA

  30. Man, I think it’s rather lame to not give this offer to everyone. I’d love a chance at DuffMan and the other stuff.
I bought the Aztec theater over a year ago, and now it feels like a punishment for doing so that I can’t access this pretty decent deal.
