10/22 In-Game Update: XP Collider and Frink’s Special Offer (Updated and Complete)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Looks like the trifecta of updates has hit us today.  Tuesday we got Act 2, Wednesday we got the THOH Episode Tie-in and today we just got the XP Collider!

What is it?  What does it do?  What the heck do I want that for?  All that and more will be revealed below the fold as soon as I go through it… 😉

Back with more in a bit…(looking into the Frink deal…i’ve got to check a low level game)

Ok guys…for the life of me I can’t get anywhere with Frink’s deal some of you are seeing.  I’ve tried 5 different games…still can’t get it to trigger.  So I’m completely flying blind on that at the moment.  Wondering if it’s an out of the US deal?  Or something else is just screwy with it….gonna do a little more research and see if i can find anything… (in the meantime if someone wants to email me (TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com) a screen grab of the deal I’d appreciate it ) Ahha!  I finally got Frink’s deal to trigger!  (It triggered for me once I completed the XP collider quest)  More details on Frink’s deal below the fold

2015-10-22 19.17.21

Note: Several of you are reporting the Office of Unemployment is back.  Yes.  That came back with yesterday’s App Store Update…you can see the top of this post for more on that.

So things will start off for you with some auto start dialogue from Homer…

Glayvin the Score Pt.1
Auto-start

Homer: Rebuilding Springfield used to happen so fast–five minute jobs, hour-long build time– but now it’s taking forever.
Lisa: Maybe it has something to do with escalating lumber costs…
Homer: Yeah, or maybe the game designers are trying to slow us down because they’re running out of content.
Frink: Ahoyvin!  While that use to be the case, it’s not anymore.  There’s tons of stuff still to do…and I’ve found a way to race through it!

At this point you’ll be asked (told) to place the XP Collider in your Springfield…it’s free and 7×7 in size…

XP_Collider

Then to show off what it does..and explain it to you a little more you’ll get part 2 of Glayvin the Score….

Glayvin the Score Pt.2
Auto-start Frink

Frink: Behold…the XP Collider! With this machine, and a bit of what you might call ‘hard work’, you can increase your efficiency by five hundred percent!
Homer: Ugh.  Can you just tell us what it does in lame-mans terms?
Frink: It makes stuff awesome.  Give it a whirl with a simple task!
Homer: I’ll do the simplest!
Make Homer Play with his MyPad- 45s

Homer: OH MY GOD.  What is this feeling?  Most American car horns honk in the key of F.  Every time you lick a stamp, you consume a tenth of a calorie…Reindeer like to eat bananas.  Wait…reindeer like to eat BANANAS??  What is happening to me?  Why do I know all this useless but super cool stuff?  I feel… S-M-R-T.  Smart.
Frink: That is the miraculous work of the XP Collider.  From now on, every time someone does something in this Springfield, everybody will get the intellectual benefits.
Homer: Does that mean I can sit around and do nothing from now on and reap the benefits?
Frink: Well, you still have to get up periodically and recharge the collider.
Homer: Get up?! UGH, it’s always something!

So in simple terms…what is it/what does it do?

It increases your XP on everything over a period of time by 5x.  When you clear jobs or buildings you’ll see blue XP popup and award you extra XP…

2015-10-22 19.23.17

When it’s active your XP Bar will also turn to the same blue color..

2015-10-22 19.23.39

Why the heck do you want it?

Well it boosts your XP level quickly…could help you level up faster or get to the bonus round for free donuts quicker.

TSTO Bonus level up

What does it cost?

Well, like a lot of things the first try is free and then it’ll cost you after.  The first 24hrs of the XP Collider arriving in Springfield are free…after that it’ll cost you donuts to recharge it (see you wonder what EA was doing giving away all those free donuts).

2015-10-22 19.26.26

2015-10-22 19.26.44

Here’s the cost breakdown:

2015-10-22 19.26.38

2015-10-22 20.02.40

Should I use it?

Personally…I don’t think it’s worth it.  The cost itself doesn’t make sense.  And often times if you level up quicker than your game play (i.e. XP says a higher level than your game play does) you’ll get stuck and wonder why you can’t unlock more.  It doesn’t pay to level up fast via XP when you’re still moving slow at quests/character unlocks.

Plus if you wanted to use this for donut farming it’s not worth it. I’m not a fan of spending donuts to get free donuts.  You should be saving all of your free donuts for something you want…especially if there’s a free way to get more donuts.  You’re still way better off spending in game cash (i.e. the freemium way) on blood mobiles and rat trap delivery trucks to get loads of XP for free.

Rat Trap Delivery Truck bloodmobile 2

So in the end…enjoy the first 24hrs and then I’d just ignore it after that.

Best Use for It While It’s Free?

If you’re on the max level of TSTO (Level 58)…buy LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of Blood Mobiles and Rat Trap Trucks…you’ll get LOADS of free donuts.  (via the Bonus Round)

And there you have it…the breakdown on the XP Collider…

Now once you’ve completed the XP Collider questline you’ll get Frink’s Special Offer to popup.  Note: this will ONLY appear if you don’t have any of the mystery buildings or Mystery Characters..the list includes:

Duff Man & Duff Brewery
Frink & Frink’s Lab
Otto & the School Bus
Aztec Theater
Try ‘N Save
Duff Stadium

This means..if you have 1 of those buildings/characters you will not see this deal.

Here’s the deal…

2015-10-22 20.23.29

So for $5.99 in the US (not sure what it is in other countries…feel free to discuss in the comments) you’ll get:
-The 10 Day Collider Pack…so 10 days of 5xp
-1 Premium Character Mystery Box
-1 Premium Building Mystery Box
-150 Donuts
-$250,000

This is a GOOD deal.  If you have the money and can, take this deal.  But wait until your free 24hrs are up before you get it.  That way you get the most out of the XP Collider.

Note: if you close out the deal and are looking for it again…you’ll find it in your store, it’ll look like this:
2015-10-22 20.25.29
What are your thoughts on the XP Collider?  Can you justify spending the donuts for the XP Boost?  Will you be spending the donuts?  Do you still farm for donuts via Rat Trap Delivery and the Blood Mobile?  How about Frink’s Deal?  Will you be taking it? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Haven’t checked this thread in a while. Is it still not being suggested to turn on the XP collider to donut farm? I would assume that the feeling would be different now; amass $500million, spend 5 donuts on 24 hours, make 5k donuts!!! I totally understand the theory of “don’t spend donuts to make donuts”, but this seems better than a parking lot full of jet bikes. Thanks!

    • No if you know what you’re doing we encourage you to use it and XP farm

    • Spending donuts to make more donuts than you spent is donut profit definitely. You have to work at it, but such is life. As long as you’re enjoying the process, why not? If it’s a burden, don’t do it.

I farmed with the collider on for just a few days during the Halloween 2016 event and was able to buy stuff I never could have bought before they disappeared (event related and so time-limited). You just have to do the math to see if it will work for you at your bonus level and your amount of cash and your income from tasks and buildings. Minimal math needed if you make a decent guess (keep track of the KEM costs and compare to income if you want to break even), and just test it out for a day and keep track of the cash numbers for before you buy X number of Kwik-E-Marts, after you collected from tasks/buildings every four hours while they are building, after you sold the built KEMs. Set alarms if you want to figure out the max donuts past your initial investment you can get in a day.

I experimented with buying bloodmobiles and rat trap delivery trucks, but they used up a lot of cash fast and were not a feasible way to get a lot of donuts for me. If I just needed one or two more donuts and had cash to burn, maybe. But KEM farming can break even or if not, it uses up cash less quickly for a good donut profit.

The Halloween farming I did involved many more KEMs than I could buy and break even, but I had saved up enough to let my stash of $ go down gradually. I needed a lot of donuts fast. Now I’m just breaking even with a smaller number of KEMs because 1) I’m down to a measly $2 million and know I can’t resist paying for extra Maggie donut tries and 2) I don’t have an immediate need for the donuts but am hoping for bargains coming up.

If you can’t check in every four hours most of the day, though, you won’t get much profit unless you have loads of buildings and characters and cash for loads of KEMs. I don’t have enough of all three to benefit from more casual pickup rates, but other people might.

The one-day farming experiment will be enough to tell you if it would be worth trying for longer periods. Some time ago, I tried it when I only had about 2 million dollars and a bonus of maybe 50% tops, and I still was able to make enough level up donuts to just match the 5 donuts spent for 24 hours of collider. I could see that with a better bonus and more cash and income, this would be a good thing to try again. My bonus is 136% now and I’m definitely making donut profit while breaking even dollar wise – enough to invest in longer collider periods which are donut-cheaper per day. If you have a much better bonus, that will help a lot.

Don’t forget Krustyland gives you XP as well. I also buy and sell pita trucks using Krustyland tickets to get lots of XP while the collider is on. Also in an event, you can get multiplied XP from crafting.

  2. If my multiplier is 300%, would the 5x collider xp multiplier increase it to 800% or 1500%? I want to know if it is an additional 5x increase off of the base xp values, or a 5x increase off of what you are already getting with bonuses. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • That’s basically how it works. Multiples the xp you currently earn

    • bonitajustice76

I had the same question, so I was just crunching some numbers today. If your bonus is 300%, don’t forget that is on top of the original XP you would have earned, essentially another 100%. The XP Collider gives you 5x your bonus and 5x your original. In your example, that would be a total of 1500% (the bonus part) plus 500% (the original part).

  3. I had the offer come up. The payment didn’t go thru. Has not come up anywhere to try again :/

  4. I used a 24 hour one today. I had three building in construction so I thought why not. I might use it when I have a tonne of money and I might start blood mobile farming. I recommend using it if you do farm decorations.

  5. With the end of levels and a 1 million cap for bonuts at level 939, is it possible to rewrite/edit this post?
There is no question that it is now worth activating the Collider. In fact, a new post on tactics for maximising XP would be welcome.
The site is great, I would be lost without it, but there are a few gaps – the hidden multiplier for buildings released in SH2, for example – and 1 or 2 examples where posts have become outdated as the game has changed so much.
I know so many people aren’t near to 939 yet but it will happen and quite quickly, many of my neighbours are progressing fast and I reckon such a post would be well received.
I’d be happy to offer my help but there’s loads of info I’m missing, I’m struggling to work out my own strategy while I’m missing key data

    • Feel free to submit any changes you’d like to make, full written versions to our email and i’ll make adjustments.

Beyond that my priority is new content. When there are lulls I’m happy to do some clean up. But I’m human too and do enjoy breaks 😉

      • Of course, I know new content is a priority and I’m amazed how much you already do so don’t want to give you more! I’ll see if I can do anything to help update the post, maybe Sillyboy could help me, he seems to have some great ideas. I’m definitely missing some key info on hidden multipliers though, is there anyone you know who could dig through game files to get the data?

      • Just search the site for the keyword FARMING and you will see some very detailed explanations within articles and posts. Very useful reading, will help decide how many KEMs or whatevers you need, for example.

  6. I bought the deal and now I can’t move my screen either plus I have no idea if I even got the free building or character because I can’t access my storage box to find out. I don’t have an EA account and don’t want to lose my place on level 20. If i sign up now will it save my progress so i can start again at this level?

    • Yes. The game allows you to create an account and link it to where you are right now. We would DEFINITELY suggest you save your game as soon as possible.

  7. Hello! I bought the frink deal for $9.90 and now my screen won’t move and t won’t respond to me touching any character or any buildings. Nothing!
Is anyone else having this problem?

  8. I took his deal and now my game doesn’t work can’t move round screen. Can tap on my task book and it moves that’s it 🙁

  9. The deal just showed up for me but when I click on it I get a message saying “requested store items cannot be found”. What does that mean? Is the offer not live anymore?

  10. Just going to throw this out there since it happened to me today, if the offer pops up and later disappears and doesnt show up on the build menu. Check the currency tab where you buy the doughnuts, it showed up there after I spent awhile with EA talking about it.

  11. I had the offer, but I forgot my Apple password so had to press cancel – I reset my password but now the offer has disappeared, which I am mad about. Does anybody have any solutions, please?
    Thanks

    • I’m sorry it’s too late for this to help you, but for others looking for Frinks Special Offer, and it doesn’t show up again on the menu, it’s under Currency, all the way on the left.

  12. Why it shows me Frinks Special Offer We can not buy it

  13. Is it possible to store the mystery boxes that deal gives outs?

  14. Anyone know if the XP Collider deal is still valid? My son got to level 20/21 yesterday, placed the XP collider, and sometime (~1 hour) later, this offer popped up. He told me about it, I told him I was jealous, and then he wanted to get it with xmas $. When we went back to look for it, it was gone. So I’m not sure if it was a limited time offer when the collider first came, or if there’s still a way to grab this. Thanks!

    • Yea, it pops up for new players once they’ve placed it

      • Thanks, Alissa! Any idea where I can find it so I can give EA my money?? In the store, it only shows the Wreath (Winter specials) and the Gil’s Snowglobe. I looked around on the submenus…even the XP submenu was only for the refills using donuts.

Color me confused….(as usual). Thanks again for the assist!

  15. I have Otto and Frink and the deal popped up! I foolishly didn’t purchase it immediately. When I went to find it later it’s no where to be found in my store!

  16. Definitely buying. Try-N-Save, Aztec The after, Duff Stadium, e.c.t., this is BEAST😈
Mr.Mole would be proud. BUYING THIS !!!!!!!!!!!

  17. I think another consideration for people who missed out on this deal is that there will be more deals. consider as well that many people who are eligible for this deal, myself included (I started near the end of monorail) don’t have access to a lot of the events content that we missed. In the end there will be more deals, so it’s not a big deal to miss one.

  18. Hmm, I got Frinks offer and got otto and the stadium for rewards. It was a hard offer to pass up. The only issue I have with it is I have been leveling like mad for the last 8 days. I mean I think I was in the low level 30’s 8 days ago now im level 48… I am so far behind in quests, buildings and my conformo meter. So kind of breaks the game, I have a level 30 town and am level 48… I would recommend it however if you don’t spend money often, and if you are prepared to play catchup afterwards for probably a month or more…

  19. Just to confirm . . . I’ve got Otto and Duffman (and their corresponding buildings) so there’s NO WAY I can get Frink’s Deal, right?

  20. Just how exactly do rat trap trucks and bloodmobiles generate XP?

  21. Just purchased Frink’s deal and received Frink & Frink’s Lab and Try n Save! Would’ve loved Otto but with the 150 donuts received from the deal plus the ones I already have saved I can buy him anyways 🙂 Awesome deal for $6.99 🙂

  22. Drat! I already had Otto

  23. I think I bought Otto like a day before I saw about this deal on here and now I lose out, so stupid

  24. So guess I missed out on this offer. I have Otto but never got this offer. 🙁

  25. Guys I missed out on this. I have Otto but didn’t get this offer. 🙁

  26. Okay….I’ve succumbed. I guess I’m momentarily no longer freemium. I paid $5 but got the remaining $1 from Google Opinions. 🙂 My balance is 1 penny. lol.

I got Duffman (that’s the way the cookie crumbles) and Aztec Theater (woot!). I hoped for Otto or Frink, either of which would have been doubly helpful in SH, then I could have bought the other with the free donuts. Eh, maybe I’ll grow to like Duffman…

10 days of 5x XP…. This should bring me to the current level, but I don’t think I’ll get as far as bonuts.

I am a new user, btw. Only been playing since Terwilliger, this year. So, about six months.

I don’t know if I’ll spend again, but who knows what EA will be “practically giving away” in the future. heh. 😀

  27. On my game it has the frink offer on the regular donut purchase place on the menu within the game, doubt it will work but did any of you that didnt get the offer popup check there?

  28. Please explain why those of us who have some of Frink’s offerings get NOTHING? Pretty damn slimy to me.

    • Well I can’t explain it…I’m not EA. You’d have to ask EA.

    • I expect that this deal is an attempt to get freemium players who have never given EA a single dollar to spend some money. It worked on me; generally I simply don’t think the price is right for premium content, but $6 for 150 donuts plus the other stuff, I decided it was worth it.

If you’re already spending money they don’t care about trying to open your pocket up.

  29. Question, probably unrelated. I bought this deal and right after my money increased, I got a pop up on Krusty. The “!” when I tap it leads me to the point, telling me I should buy the Krustyland shuttle.

I have been avoiding this as Krustyland doesn’t really interest me. I am at level 45 on XP and just about finished with the Dr Hibber’s wife quest and just started the Roger Meyer’s quest, so I’m a bit behind my XP in playing levels.

Of course, now I can’t use Krusty for anything, cause everytime I touch it, it says I should but the Krustyland Shuttle. I tried to put Krusty in inventory then back out, as well as reinstall the game, but the same thing.

So am I stuck? Will I have to go ahead and start the Krustyland quest? Thanks

    • You’ll have to start Krustyland. And you’re going to need to do it anyway, whether you want to or not or you will get stuck and won’t be able to move forward beyond level 43. Because level 43 revolves around Krustyland. So basically…do krustyland or you’ll get stuck.

      • Agreed, to move ahead you are forced to do the Krustyland quest. It sucks but once you get get past it you can use Yr shuttle as a decoration and forget EA ever made this horrible mistake.

  30. I got the deal, seemed a little too good to pass really given the value you get. I got Frink funnily enough, that was good, Otto would have been good, I like Duffman but I don’t like him as much. I then got the Try’N’Save, not too bad but I would have preferred the Aztec Theatre, I have wanted to get that for a while. The XP boost was good, it would have been better if I was at a lower level(57, I hit it the other day before the Collider, now I should finish to 58 and hopefully some bonuses), but hopefully I can get some bonus donuts and hit the next level when it arrives. And then of course the cash and donuts were good.
