  1. So i noticed something strange in my game today. Ive been only popping disco zombies for 2 days now, and somehow, randomly, I’ll get a campfire level up. Ive gotten at least 5 so far, even though I’m clearly and obviously on the bunnies part of the campfire upgrade. Anyone else notice this? I Just leveled about 5 minutes ago, so I’m gonna test for the next day and a half to see if I can get the same results again.

    • Testing confirms it. Been tapping bothing but zombies and i recieved a level up on the campfire while doing bunnies. Tapped the remaining bunnies and got another immediatly. So either my game is borked or as long as ur tapping the same monster in a row, it registers for level up xompletion.

    • same thing happened to me for the past few days, since I am only going for Zombies to get the walls.. but I noticed that even though the campfire upgrades, it does not give you the tent or that little house, but just these green things (*** my game is german, don’t know what they’re called in english)

  2. We went to see hotel transylvania 2 at the cinema today and me and my six year old laughed a heck of alot! ☆☆☆☆☆

  3. I read someone saying he is getting wood. I thought this is an American slang of saying he is happy, because some appendage is turning wood like. I just realise that getting wood is one of the task title in the Halloween Event!

    • Americans ARE pretty happy about getting wood. It’s so weird how the rest of the world doesn’t share our affinity for wood. It’s big, it’s heavy, it’s wood. It’s better than bad, it’s good. It’s great for a snack and fits on your back. Wood. 🙂

      • To quote Ren and Stimpy:

        What rolls down stairs
        alone or in pairs,
        and over your neighbor’s dog?
        What’s great for a snack,
        And fits on your back?
        It’s log, log, log

        It’s log, it’s log,
        It’s big, it’s heavy, it’s wood.
It’s log, it’s log, it’s better than bad, it’s good.”

        Everyone wants a log
        You’re gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
        Everyone needs a log
        log log log

        *whistle*
        LOG FROM BLAMMO

      • Lol, thanks, now I’ve got “Log” stuck in my head!! 🙂

      • @Katg504 Sorry, would you rather me type the Slinky commercial song? 😀

  4. Looks like EA fixed the glitch that allowed us to have the impossible tower and floating car floating above the water after removing boardwalk sections 🙁

    • Are you sure? The floating car never could have the tiles removed, in my game, but could be placed across tiles and ocean directly.

I need someone to test the tower. I don’t want to move mine if it’s true. Sadly I didn’t have all the open space I wanted, so my tower is right in the middle of a planned design area. 😐

      • You’re right! I didn’t test putting the car directly over the water, because I didn’t think it would work. But it did. Disregard addicts, I was wrong lol

Like you I don’t plan to move my tower. I did that with my ice cream truck and now I cannot put it back on the road 🙁

        • Maybe someone else can try it, someone that already has it on land. Sandra? You could try it and then put it back in your design. 🙂

    • I just tried it with the tower and it worked just fine. (Hope it want a one-time-only thing, because I was thinking about using that trick after the event ends and my maze comes down.)

Maybe it’s device-dependent? I tried it on my iPad just now…maybe I can try it on my Kindle another time (too late tonight) to see if Android works differently…

  5. I’m loving the Halloween quest lines in TSTO! I have only a couple complaints …

    1) I’d like to meet the programmer that thought it’d be neat to have the map jump to Channel 6 building or the Simpsons house everytime to accidentally tap on Arnie’s Helicopter or Fairy Kodos! And when I say “meet” I mean give them a dick punch!

    2) Hunting for snakes in your neighbors Springfields is a huge pain in the butt. Why couldn’t they at least picked a different color to make them stand out better, like the purple bunnies?

  6. I finally solved the problem of preventing the accidental tapping of the campsite when it is in the town centre and there are buildings or characters around ready to tap. Just put the game into movement mode and move the campsite to an empty field far from tappable objects until you have the nightmares cleaned out. Afterwards, you can put the campsite back in its proper place.

Has anyone noticed that M’nster looks something like Jumba Jookiba, one of the characters on Lilo and Stitch?

  7. Question for Arturas,
Have you worked out what actually causes the campfire to upgrade?
I had two upgrades this morning 3 minutes apart, then nearly at a third, need just 5 skeleton bones ……..with no neighbour visits due, I thought I can drop off some formless terrors and see what comes back. I got terrors back with the usual mix of nightmares including 5 bones, but the campfire update counter didn’t move from 195/200

Maybe it’s too complicated to analyse or maybe nobody cares as we’re half way through the event

    🎃 💀 🐇 🐍 🙂

    • Don’t read code, so just have to feel my way through. FT nightmares count toward crafting, not upgrading as far as I can see. That’s why your counter didn’t move. Had you tapped a few nightmares in other SF while still not in excess of your 90 limit, that would have helped.
Two upgrades 3 min. apart is interesting. Probably due to residual accumulation. I have noticed that the normal nightmare upgrade cycle still plays, but the content is slowly building. In other words, you need to collect bunnies, but collect zombies instead. During that time, the pet cemetery gives you 10 bunnies. These are added to your bunny count for that upgrade level. When you upgrade that level using zombies instead of bunnies, the bunny count remains until the next time bunnies come up. I would guess you had a high residual count for the second upgrade and easily maxed it out 3 min. into the upgrade.

    • I’m trying to figure that out, too… Yesterday night I was playing my boyfriend’s account; he needed bunnies to upgrade and the counter was 16/200. Then this morning the kids had finished s’more-ing; he squashed all zombies; counter still at 16/200 bunnies. Two hours later I logged in his account again, first thing I did was check the counter, of course it was 16/200 bunnies, but after I had squashed about 6 zombies – BAM! – the campfire upgraded.

So, basically, what I’m trying to tell is: I have no idea what causes the campfire to upgrade. 😛

  8. VanessaVWAudiforever

Go Royals!!! Mets have a good team as well. Gonna be a fight, all the way. Man, I will be a nervous wreck at 7:30 central tomorrow.

  9. Hi everyone! What is the easiest way to accumulate in game cash? I’m a freemium player (level 58) but I find myself always strapped for cash…

Burns money mountain broke me (I’m not even done yet 1 more level to go) and I have not been able to recover.

    • In the post-house farm era, Wailing Wall farms and other items with a bonus% are the way to go.

    • The easiest way is………never place the money mountain!

I can even tell you the quest because it’s still in my taskbar….
“make Homer enjoy his day off”

When it was first released I said that’s for people with millions 💲

The moral of the story is……be careful what you throw money at

      🎃 💀 🙂

    • Are you crafting wailing walls? They have a hidden 2,25% bonus. The higher your %, the more money you make.

Other than that, always send your characters on shorter tasks (as long as you can collect when the tasks are done and send them all again) and visit your friends everyday, if possible.

    • You can make more money faster by setting the characters to the shortest tasks you can get back to. So, do 1 hour tasks instead of just 8 hour tasks, if you can play once every hour. Do the math and you’ll see that even if you can only get in 5 or 6 times in 8 hours, you’ll come out ahead in cash versus just setting it to an 8 hour task.

The other way (that happens at the same time) is to accumulate bonus percentage items, such as the craftable wailing walls or most decorations that cost donuts. They increase the output of cash from tasks and taxes.

  10. (400+ comments and a lazy finger will be my excuse for not scouring the posts for an answer to the following question, pls pardon me.)

The “Homerzilla” episode on Sunday’s THOH was, I believe, what the tie-in was referring to, but was there supposed to me something more to the game play? Getting a NPC would be cool, but at the very least maybe some added animation to the lake rather than some bubbles of flatulence. C’mon!

    • How about Bob’s Victorian House?

      • Maudlin_Monarch.

The house was for the 1st … uhm, vignette?, dealing with “Re-anima-Bart”. (A Cluck-a-Lope Bob skin would have been interesting, BTW. LOL!)

I would have thought there would be more to the lake, though. Like further animation where Homerzilla peeps up or something, at least.

        Meh.

        • So that lake had a Homerzilla associated with it on the show? That would have been neat. I haven’t seen the show yet, but sounds neat. I’m cool with how the lake is now, though. It’s kinda serene.

  11. Michelle I really understand your frustration it’s like you have been punished for spending actual money on the game! Because I didn’t have any of the premium items like the Aztec theatre etc I got a fab deal and it does seem very unfair you missed out, I don’t know if this is the right place to ask this but is anyone else having trouble with the shop keeper tasks? I have been squishing bunnies all day but the game won’t acknowledge it for some reason, does anyone have any ideas? Thank you

  12. Hey guys, is anyone else receiving the error of not being able to send Ray Patterson on his 60min task to the Kwik-E-Mart? I’ve noticed since the latest update giving adults THOH tasks that his task is not open for selection.
It doesnt appear to be because of the Kill-E-Mart skin because other characters are still able to be sent on their regular 60min shopping task.
I’ve got screenshots to send if need be – let me know or are you guys already on it?

    • I don’t have this problem (Ray buys his bird seed from the pet shop in my Springfield) but this is what I’ve read in the comments here over the past week:

Switch skins to the regular Kwik-e-Mart and Ray will go on his task. Cheers 🙂

    • Do you have any Kwik-W-Marts in inventory? I had this problem for awhile until I got the one I had in there out…and Ray will only buy seed at that one

  13. I think my game is glitching? I was collecting skeletons for the regular collection at the campfire and at 183/200 the tally stopped counting. I made Bart tell his story again and collected more but the tally never changed. Would you guys know of a way to fix this?

    • I am having a similar problem with the shop keeper task, I have been squashing bunnies all day but it won’t acknowledge it for some reason either! It’s very frustrating, I know this is not a solution I just wanted to sympathise

  14. Is there any plans to do a complete Springfield showcase soon? Or are their legal issues so you can’t do that?

  15. Don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but if you have Count Burns, you can send him to Rest In Peace for 24 hours to get 24 brains. Not sure if they’re just crafting brains, but I thought it was neat…anybody else getting Halloween items from unexpected sources. I was pleased to find my pet cemetery spouting bunnies, but unfortunately no zombies from the cemetery.

  16. When it comes to neighbor visits I have climbed to #1 on my “Friendship List” but only #43 on the “SH List”. (lol at the last one)… I started playing just after Wacking Days and have accumulated a solid backbone of neighbors that know when all hands are needed on deck, and we bounce together like family. (I find it interesting that a few that have been around for years are not playing this event. I wonder what is up with that, but no worries as they are always welcome and remain on my list of family members.)

Here is my question: I was using the Origin desktop program to easily add/remove neighbors from my list. Origin is no longer and it is now EA when it comes to logins. Is there a new PC/Desktop manager that replaces the Origin one that makes neighbor management easy?

I know that this is better placed in the “Add Me” thread, but it is human nature to never look up, or read… LOL!

  17. Michelle pearson

I’m disgusted with what I have just been told. My friends all received an offer when they placed the do collider in their town so I messaged EA asking why I didn’t and this is what I was told. Apparently this offer was for selected accounts not everyone. So dispite the fact I’ve played for years and spent money on this game I was discriminated against and not given the offer. That is disgusting. I think the developers are disgusting discriminating against customers like that. My friend has 2 accounts and both hers got the offer. Wonder if other players who spend money on this game realise they are missing out? How can you only offer a promotion to certain accounts and not others? Well I won’t be spending another penny on this game. DISGUSTING TREATMENT FROM EA GAMES!

    • It’s not discriminating. When they say it was offered to select accounts, they mean you had to qualify to get it. The way you qualify is you basically have 0 premium items in your game. If you have one of the premium items offered in the offer, the offer won’t show up for you. It’s really just that simple. They’re not picking and choosing what players/accounts get it. They’re saying, these are the requirements to get it. If you don’t meet the requirements you don’t get the offer.
Is it annoying? Yes. Is it discrimination? No.

Just like when Gil’s Deal of Otto’s school bus hit last year. If you had the bus you didn’t see the deal. If you didn’t you did. That’s all it is. It’s EA’s way of getting people who would normally never spend a dime on this game to spend money on this game.

      • Michelle pearson

Ummm, I did reply to you but it seems to have not appeared. While I appreciate your point about the premium items. This offer was not like that. They offered 10 days of x5 Xp, 1 premium character mystery box, 1 premium building mystery box, 150 donuts and £250,000.

I can see no reason why this cannot be offered to everyone and why they need to discriminate some accounts. My friend has 2 accounts and both of hers got the offer as well as my other friends on the game. EA have admitted only select accounts got that offer so what exactly is the qualifying requirements for this offer???

        • It can’t be offered to everyone because there’s only a select number of premium prizes in the mystery boxes. And if you have 1 of those items it throws off the algorithm for it…since you can’t have duplicates of any of the buildings/characters. Different offere…same concept.

Again…it’s not discrimination. It’s if you qualify for it or not. It’s like when you go to a store and they offer a discount if you spend over $100. If you don’t spend over $100 you won’t get the discount because you don’t qualify for it.

EA’s saying select accounts got the offer because those select accounts don’t have any of the buildings and/or characters offered in the mystery boxes. So your friend probably didn’t have Otto, Duffman, Frink, Try N Save, Duff Stadium or the Aztec theater in any of her towns. While you, probably have at least one of those. Again. If you have ANY ONE of those items, you don’t qualify for the offer.

It’s not like EA looked at each account individually and said…”ok this person can get the deal” “but this person, well I don’t like them so no deal for them” It has to do with what you already have in your game..because the premium offers in the mystery box are unique and you cannot have more than 1 of any of them.

    • Well I didn’t know about it ….thanks for telling us, disgusting way to treat us, *goes off mumbling* …..disgusting

      💀 🎃 🚾

    • Further to my earlier reply……

Why did your friend tell you that? Do they like seeing you upset?

      Are they really your friend?

      💀 = 🐇 🙂

      • Michelle pearson

She sent me a screen shot before she realised I didn’t get the offer. To be honest I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Then I’ve asked others and I hey got the same. And for the record I don’t have any of the premium items. I have screen shot of tech support admitting some accounts got it some didn’t. I don’t understand why the offer above wouldn’t apply to all, oh and my friend has an account in the 50s level and a lower account so it’s not even level based.

On a side note Alissa, I’ve just realised its you that does all the posts on here and I’d like to say how wonderfully helpful they are and thank you.

        • You don’t have Otto, Frink, Duffman, Duff Stadium, Try-N-Save or Aztec? That’s the only way it won’t trigger for you.

If you DON’T have those buildings…if you finish the short XP collider questline, the deal should popup for you. But it won’t appear until you finish that questline. So is it possible you didn’t finish that questline?

Glad we could be of help 🙂

  18. You want a great deal from EA. Here it is. I bought 8 premium characters. Saying that they average 150 each (too lazy to look up the prices), that is 1200 donuts total, i.e. 50 dollars if you buy 100 USD worth of donuts (unfortunately I paid more for many donuts, but got some character discounts as well). Because of those 8 extra characters, I will craft roughly 150 wailing walls. Because the premium characters contribute 36 nightmares out of 64, that means 56% of those walls are the direct result of the premium characters. The nightmare spawn rate is the result of how fast I was able to level up and the Formless Terror rate is dependent on the total nightmare creation rate. Thus 56% of my total success depends on the premium characters. 150 walls times 56% equals 84 walls. A 2.25% bonus is usually worth 45 donuts. 45 x 84 = 3780 donuts. To make things easier (and cover any character prices above 150 donuts, let’s round it down to 3600 donuts. Plus the 1200 donuts I paid, that means that I paid 50 USD for 4800 donuts worth of goods, or one quarter the price of each premium character. That is far less than the recent EA offer so many are complaining about missing. So before complaining, examine all of the possibilities. You might be better off paying full price and getting the maximum out of the events. Those 150 walls are going to eventually generate donuts for me, meaning that the price will continue to fall in the future. So I would say I got a far better deal than those new players. You just have to invest wisely in your future.

    • Ah, but what’s the time horizon for those “eventual donuts” to pay off the number of present-day donuts you bought and spent? Remember that the amount of XP required to level up keeps increasing as you level up…my current SO meter requires more than 4.7M XP to fill up, so, even with a great bonus multiplier, that’s gonna take some time. So, while given an infinite time horizon your analysis is sound, in reality, it may not be the slam dunk you make it out to be. (Not even gonna get into the time value of the money you spent for the donuts…)

      • To earn 1200 donuts will probably take years, I agree. But without spending that 50 USD, I would never get that money back; the best I could do would be to spend less than full price for any characters I buy. But if I buy less than 2400 donuts at a time. I have already probably overpaid for the characters, even if I buy them on discount. The alternative is freemium. But then you basically have to ignore all premium purchases or spend a lot of time. I agree with you that this game can take a lot of time. Part of my solution was to pay cash for more and rely less on tapping to acquire donuts. This event that decision paid off in spades.

There are some people who just go with the flow and can be happy with whatever they have. I am more driven as you can see by all of the analyses I make. I do them for myself and figure others might also like to read them. And at least a few do. Consequently I have to play mainly premium because freemium is too frustrating. I have no trouble with those who choose not to join me. But a lot of these people are complaining that EA cheated them because they could not save a few donuts on some basic items. I agree that EA can step on toes, feet, and even legs like when tennis courts went freemium a couple months after being first offered as a premium purchase, but in this case, the problem is with the players, not EA. I am trying to show people that they can make their own great deals instead of waiting for crumbs from EA. If they choose not to exploit their own opportunities, then they should be comfortable with their decision. I understand, the decision to go premium is scary. One can sink money into this game the way we sink time and neither of us has that much. That is why one needs a purchasing direction if one is going premium; buying everything one likes will probably cost more than one can afford.
As to the time value, I can earn real money faster than I can donuts, so it makes sense for me to pay cash for them. I think kids picking up aluminium cans over the summer can earn money faster than by visiting neighbours. And the exercise is good for the body.

        • Exercise? Did you just recommend exercise? I think the only exercise that should be officially recommended is tap dancing, naturally. 😛

    • While I didn’t follow the numbers very well, thank you for pointing this out to the veteran players. It’s true of course because I’m definitely not in wailing wall heaven. I have maybe 10 walls. Only 2 premium kids (from the mystery box). Even though I got the Frink deal it’s not going to help me with getting 8 more kids (I think that’s what you were referring to).

      • I probably condensed the math too much. There are more freemium kids (13), but at only 2 nightmares each plus 2 nightmares for telling the story, their 28 nightmares are definitely less than the 36 my 8 premium characters are earning. 2 more premium char. are possible but I did not expect all the kids to be included this year, was still freemium at the time, and they were limited time offers.
I have also mentioned this situation, like with the wailing walls, so that people could take advantage of it. Obviously the event is half over, so the benefits will not be as spectacular. On the other hand, I started crafting walls late because I was upgrading the campfire needlessly. And the main thing, just because I threw some money at the game does not mean I am not spending time as well. But the premium characters mean that I receive a better return on my time. For most of the events, premium has not been a great advantage because nothing fantastic was offered. This time, whether by accident or plan, the benefits are definitely there. If one wanted to go premium, this would be a good time to do it. But the results will only be as spectacular as your efforts. For example, a good percentage of my brains come from FTs. My crew generate large numbers of them, probably over 100 a day, but a lot of FT brains also come from neighbours who visit me. For them to do that, I need to clear my SF every half hour and be generous with giving them FTs. If you play hard, you should consider going premium because it makes your time more rewarding. If you are hoping to get all of the prizes with less work, that is purely a monetary decision, although equally valid.

      • Reread the posts. Yes, I have mentioned many of these things before and so did not explain them in detail again, like the value of the wall being 45 donuts. The comment was already too long. Because I did the calculations in the first place, they are right at the tip of my tongue, but someone who read them a couple weeks ago might have entirely forgotten having read them, let alone the content.

  19. Want to get rid of FTs and play a trick on someone? It’s simple. Every five neighbours, return to your SF to see if anyone has already cleared the FTs you left. Anyone who has, go back and leave 10, if you can. This is how to get rid of larger numbers and make sure they get cleared.
Now go back in a couple of minutes before they have had a chance to clear all of the FTs and leave more. Keep doing this until they stop clearing FTs. Then watch for the comment here that their Springfield is acting weird. Instead of 10 FTs at a time, they are getting 20+. What a wonderful ‘glitch’!

  20. See, THIS is why I love this site and try to make time to scan comments… I *never* would have thought to check conform-o-meter to figure out $/XP % bonuses, nor would I ever have assumed that a craftable item would yield a “hidden” % bonus. Has this been the case before, where a previously premium item retains its bonus even when it’s craftable during an event; or is it a freaky glitch?

  21. Is there a point where you no longer benefit upgrading the camp fire? If you have a max nightmares in the town, I would think eventually you just hit the cap right?

Debating if I should just go full zombie at this point to max out walls I can get, but I hate the idea that I would still benefit from upgrading..

  22. What character do I buy next in terms of all-around usefulness? I have Uter, Otto, and Luann for premium characters besides BHL and SVT.

    • There is no perfect character to buy. It depends on what you want to do/what you like. Premium characters are hit and miss when it comes to events. Some are extremely helpful one event and then aren’t used for a year again.

    • The older characters tend to get used more often. If you have not finished SH, I would suggest one of those characters. For example, Bumblebee Man allows you to craft statues at the pharma price, i.e. one statue for one pharma. Obviously a bit slower than 7 statues at a time, but if you need both statues and pharma for a level, they often finish at nearly the same time, and that is a considerable time savings.
If you have given up on SH, Christmas will be here shortly and possibly good prizes. Look at past Christmases and see if there is any pattern of premium character use. Or wait until the event hits and see if anyone strikes you as really useful. You can always look to see if they had a connection with previous events by searching for the character and that event. If nothing interests you for Christmas, then wait until an event that does have something you want. The down side with that is if I had not bought all the premium kids going into Halloween regardless of the desirability of the act 1 prizes, then I would not have been in a position to get 150 wailing walls, which will pay for all the premium characters I bought. So it is a gamble; pick the outcome you can live with and go for it.

      • I’ve hit $1 billion in SH. I’m working to max upgrade the last few business centers between events and then stopping. I’ll just save my sprinklies for Christmas or a Gil sale. Thanks!

  23. I was having the shopkeepers challenge glitch. So I got tired of waiting and went ahead and changed to skeletons. For my surprise the skeletons counted towards the 30 bunnies goal.
    Maybe the text is wrong?

  24. Hi, after reading previous posts about the shopkeeper challenge, I decided to tap skeletons instead of bunnies and my counter is going up. So tap on skeletons for now and you should be ok.

  25. I was having the same issue with the Shopkeeper’s challenge. I switched my campfire to skeletons and finished the challenge with those. Perhaps it’s supposed to be skeletons and not bunnies.

  26. I feel like the nightmares are all reused sprites from previous events. Have y’all done a post on when we’ve seen bunnies, skeletons, snakes, and disco zombies before? (Pretty sure snakes are Whacking Day.)

  27. Hi Alissa , Bunny or Wookie.
What’s the idea with the Halloween party wall donut price ? Is it a mistake likely to be corrected to make it affordable to place more than one?
Or do you think it’s meant to be one off decoration like the light up elder god ?
If it’s a one off , quite like the look of it but don’t want to splash 20 donuts

So Halloween Party huh ? Don’t think they’ll be getting my vote , even though I quite like the look of their walls…….

  28. I’ve just started this weeks shopkeepers challenge. first challenge being squish 30 bunnies, i’ve got to 25 and it seems to have stopped counting them. any ideas?

  29. My counter for the Evil house challenge doesn’t work.As of this morning it just stays on zero and no mater how many rabbits i squish it doesent move.Anybody have this problem?

    • Yes, Just contacted EA and it’s a known problem that they are working on.

    • I’m having the exact same issue. Somehow it got to 6 bunnies, but now it stopped working. I tried other counters by smashing zombies in friends cities, this worked (upgraded my campfire). But no matter if I squish bunnies in my town from the campfire or the gate or in friends towns (I am under the daily limit) – no increase there 🙁

    • you must go to neighbours and find it. Only there it will count.

  30. Wailing wall. People said it’s 2.25% bonus but when I click on it to craft it all mine says is 12hr, $300 and 30xp

    • The percentage is not visible when tapping the wall. However, you can see it this way :
      1) Check your bonus percentage by tapping on your star rating.
      2) Store your wall
      3) Recheck your bonus percentage. It should be 2.25% less.

    • It doesn’t tell you. I only noticed my % had gone up after I’d crafted a couple. Now I have 32 of them 😀
