THOH Prize Guide: Act 3, Prizes 1 and 2…Crafting Materials and Apu’s Apocalypse Jeep

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well here we are, in most Tappers favorite time of the year in Springfield….Halloween! The leaves on the tress have changed colors, the water is murky and there’s a darkness that falls over our TSTO screens.  All of these effects fit in perfectly with this year’s theme….Nightmares.

This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the Third, and final, Act you’re tasked with collecting Candy Apples (ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md) (yes I know they look like Caramel Apples, but the game is calling them Candy Apples) to unlock each prize!

The first Act 3 prize awarded at 180 ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md is a supply of Crafting Resources to help you craft fun prizes during the event!

2015-11-06 14.48.38

And the second Act 3 prize awarded at 540 ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md (or +360ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md, from Prize 1) is Apu’s Apocalypse Jeep…a new “vehicle” for your Springfield…

2015-11-06 14.48.47

So let’s take a closer look at these first two prizes and just what happens when you unlock them in your Springfield…

Let’s start with Prize 1….

Once you’ve collected 180 ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md  you’ll automatically be awarded the crafting resources and you’ll see this message popup:

2015-10-09 18.48.59

There won’t be anything to place in your Springfield and you won’t have to do anything additional to get these resources.  Simply earn 180 ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md and they’ll automatically go into your resource counter.

So how many of each resource do you get for this first prize?  It’s broken out like this:

50 ico_thoh2015_zombiebrains_md
50 ico_thoh2015_snakeeggs_md
50 ico_thoh2015_bunnyears_md
50 ico_thoh2015_skeletonbones_md

And that’s it for the details on the first prize!

Now let’s move onto Prize #2…

Once you’ve collected 540 ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md  (or 360 more ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md from prize one) you’ll automatically be awarded Apu’s Jeep and you’ll see this message popup:

2015-11-06 14.48.53

You’ll have the ability to place the Jeep in your Springfield immediately or place it in inventory for later (store).  If you store it, remember you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it..

2015-11-06 14.48.58
2015-11-06 14.49.06

If you decide to place it’s a decoration, so there is no build time.

And that’s really it to the second prize.  There’s no questline, no dialogue, nothing telling you to place it in your Springfield to earn more ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md.  Just win the prize and that’s it.

Here are some quick facts about Apu’s Apocalypse Jeep:

apocalypsejeep_menu

Size: 5×3
Build Time: Instant
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Right +5
Where Can I Place It?: Grass/Pavement/Boardwalk/Beach
What Does it Do?:  It’s an animated when tapped decoration.  It’ll sit in your Springfield like every other vehicle.  When tapped it’s engine will rev and it will move a bit.  (stationary movement)

What’s Next?
ico_priz_homer_holiday_lg Holiday Homer  the third prize, which will be awarded at 2,160 ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md (or +1,620 ico_thoh2015_candyapple_md from Apu’s Keep).  This will be the next prize we cover in a prize rundown post.

So that my friends is the full breakdown of the first two THOH Act 3 prizes!

What do you think of the extra crafting materials and Apu’s Jeep?  Thoughts on the event overall?  What are you most looking forward to?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Is there anyway to upgrade the campfire now that skeletons aren’t spawning anymore?

  2. Michelle pearson

I personally would love to see EA come up with another craft item for bones. I really don’t want loads of pumpkins or dead trees 😕

  3. Has there been a change in game requirements again today (Sunday) because strangely I only had to send my 4 kids to the campfire once (without costumes) and it cleared the monster after just one time of sending them (usually I send them twice). Then my monster went back to tower and I was able to tap him (bearing in mind I only did this 4 hours ago when I woke up) and now the orbiting circles are back and saying I have to wait 12 hours before monster appears again (didn’t it use to be 16?) I’m soooo confused!!! Also I’ve noticed that when u tap the monster at the tower if u tap really fast you get more like about 300 apples rather than the 100 u are meant to not that I’m complaining lol. Just hit the 4000 mark (it’s lunchtime Sunday here in uk) so even tho it didn’t seem like I’d ever get the last prize I’m somehow through glitches or something getting more than what I’m meant to! Btw I’m a freemium player. Maybe there’s hope after all but I’m still panicking lol 😅

    • 12hrs is right. Essentially twice a day. EA was going to tweak the Payouts a lil bit and maybe the hit points so that is likely it happened.

  4. Well it’s official, I thought it was a one off but it’s now happened 4 times today. I have two snake logs that generate snakes to be collected every 12 hours. However, I collected once this morning on each, then an hour later, then again after another 5-6 hours and again an hour after that! A similar thing has happened with the mausoleum but only three times today. I’m not complaining as its giving me loads of candy apples, but it must be a glitch

  5. Hi I do not know where else to post but I have not been spawning any bunnies. So far since I got the shopkeepers quest I have only tapped 3 of the 30 even though i have sent kids to spawn nightmares and the gate is not giving any bunnies. I do not want to miss the 20 donuts over a glitch.

  6. So I guess that huge pond quest is done? And the mention of Thanksgiving from Act2 in Kodo’s (?) questline? Or is there still more stuff to come in the next week?

  7. Unlike other special events, I feel like I have way more eggs/brains/ears/ribs than there are prizes to buy. Usually I struggle to save enough to buy things. Is there something more coming at the end possibly? Or will I end up buying 30 spooky trees?

    • You want to buy loads of wailing walls and spooky walls. Wailing Walls give you a bonus percentage and standard money to collect, and spooky walls give a straight bonus percent. It’s rare to have either not cost donuts. But otherwise, yes, you’ll be crafting a lot of things you probably won’t need.

      • but that leaves us with tons of bunny ears and skeletons. I’ve been crafting some of the bio hazard walls with the skeletons – but i’ve got bunches of bunny ears. skelly trees and balloons to the max i guess.

  8. Anybody else no longer getting bunnies? I haven’t had a bunny in days. Not from the portal. Not from the kids who spawn them. Not from the pet cemetary. Is this just happening to me?

    • Having the same issue.

      • I’m having the same issue, except mine is skeletons. They don’t appear at all anymore 😳

        • Same. I send all the kids and only get a group of snakes and zombies. Hardly ever any bunnies or skeletons. Making it more difficult to get enough apples.

Also I need 30 skeletons for the daily challenge. Neighbours only have star spawn?

    • I have the same issue.

    • I had a similar problem, but I fixed it by separating the kids into four different houses that I will complete one collect the crafting materials and then move onto the next one. It seems there is a very small cap for the spawns during phase 3 and you could be overwriting the spawns.

  9. Completely unrelated but I found the perfect pairing for the monorail and the heights. I have 4 different monorail lines snaking around each other. My entire heights just one big monorail design.

    • Love it Ryan 🚝 🚝 🚝 🙂

    • How do you so much money?

      • I’m what is referred to as a whale. I buy every premium item available which has my bonus about 350% that and playing for years. Once you’ve bought everything it just tends to pile up after a while. Trust me, there’s no real benefit to it. I guess I could build a freight of blood mobiles but… That’s not how I like to play

  10. It would be mentioned that this vehicle is from Treehouse of Horror XX, and the “Don’t Have a Cow, Mankind” segment, which is about Krusty Burger’s new “Burger²”, which is made of cannibalistic cows, and sparks a zombie apocalypse, but Bart is immune to the disease, and after discovering that, Bart is seen to “bathing” in a big cauldron of soup, which now contains the remedy for the disease.
Apu used it to carry Bart safely from the zombies.

  11. As a premium player it’s kinda refreshing to see this act. With all the premium kids and skins, mausoleum, hallow log, pet cemetery, freakmobile and gateway nightmares abound. No worries about winning everything. No offense but kind of nice to see the freemium players sweat it out after two acts that seemed almost completely directed at freemium. Makes all those doughnuts feel worth it.

  12. *steps on soapbox*
Off topic, but it seems a little shady that one of the shopkeeper tasks is “upgrade the spooky campfire” at a point when it is nearly impossible to do so…
    *steps down*

    • You do realize that the Upgrade task hit before Act 3 hit….so if you did it on Tuesday when it was assigned you wouldn’t have a problem

    • Not shady..it was quite doable (especially considering how many days you’re given to do it in).

    • I agree. Mine is still only upgraded 4/5 times. I don’t have a clue how other people upgraded their campfires so fast but it’s been a really busy time for me, some time in hospital & preparing for a house move, have left me very little time to tap in.

    • BTW it could be accessed from the event hub.
I just need some skeletons to spawn, and it will be Level 5.
And because of the XP Collider, I rapidly approached Level 54. Before the Collider, I was Level 48,but the great influx of money made me to build two quest buildings (and their XP got multiplied by x5),so Level 51-52 is was just a glimpse of 3 12h tasks.

    • Exactly. I’m stuck on campfire level 29 with no way to upgrade. I used the last of my donuts to upgrade to 29, but now I need zombies to squish and none are generating. I’m kinda disappointed in act three, and to some extent all acts. As a looooong time tapper, 80% of the prizes/craft items I already have so there’s not a lot of new content for us old timers. But I guess that’s to be expected. I really miss the community tapping events

    • I agree!! I upgraded my campfire right before the task popped up and need skeletons. I can only get 8 skeletons per day. I’m hosed on that task. 😡😣

    • In perfect fairness to everyone bagging the poor fellah…there’ll probably be another ‘upgrade’ task amongst the shopkeeper’s challenges this week, in which case his point will endure.

      • How does the challenge system work, especially in Act 3 now that skeletons are not spawning from the campfire? In the first two acts, I could always finish them each day as they came up.

So, if I cannot finish challenge 1, will I be able to start on challenge 2 or will it be locked? ie Will I have a week to finish challenge 1?

        • You can start challenge two tomorrow. You have ALL week to finish all 5 tasks…not finishing one won’t prevent you from moving to the next.

  13. in the spirit with the upcoming Christmas season and Wink to “It’s a Wonderful Life” I noticed the game path and thought to myself : “Every time a Patch comes an Angel Molts it’s Wings” 🙂

    (To soon?)

  14. I think a good idea would be to create a post with a survey after each event like this, get a sense for how people enjoyed it. Prize quality (Freemium and Premium)? Level of commitment involved to get prizes satisfactory/fairly? Clarity in terms of understanding how prize mechanics and event currencies work? Questline(s)/Dialogue? Overall enjoyment?? Etc…

Maybe even create a survey as each Act is about to end as well! Don’t mean to give you more work, haha.

Would be great to get an assessment from fellow tappers how they feel the event turned out.

    • We’ll see if we have time. Right now there’s just a lot going on.

But I can tell you…every single time we do a survey the results are always higher than people think. More often than not players liked the event…

  15. I got my Holiday Homer today and started his questline after I “played dead” for Kodos.

  16. Good afternoon; I experienced a weird (bug?), my list of neighbors went blank for about 30 minutes, then an in-game update and my neighbors were back.
    Any idea on this?

  17. Usually folks start out an act thinking they’re behind, but I’m afraid that this act may be the reverse. Right now I’m comfortably ahead in the calendar, but that may be because of the caramel apples I got from the questline (and hitting the 250 on my daily box yesterday or the day before). I hope that now that I’m past that initial “bump up,” I don’t find myself slowly slipping behind. But I’m not gonna worry about it at this point…experience has shown me every time that, as long as I play a few times a day, I’m pretty much guaranteed to get all of the prizes (hope I haven’t just jinxed myself by saying that!!).

  18. I wonder if I should read the entire post before asking a question?…

    Nope 😉

  19. I just got a little update for my game, but I can’t see any changes. Anyone else?

    • a patch…fixing a few issues people have been having i believe

      • OK. Thank you. Changing the subject….. I finally earned enough doughnuts to get the Duff Brewery. I’m so happy! I didn’t think I would ever earn enough doughnuts to get the Brewery and Duff Man. Next on my list is the Happy Sumo, and Liquor and Lotto. All things being equal, I wouldn’t be getting Liquor and Lotto, but the character that comes with it will help me with monorail construction.

  20. I think I just goofed. I accidentally sent homer on a 24hr task in his home. If it was any other character -except Lisa- i’d know how to halt/cancel their task, but since you can’t store the Simpson home, I think I’m stuck. Does anyone know a trick I’m not aware of?

  21. It would be great if the story line made the jeep and Biohazard walls mean something. This could have been a really good story.

  22. My candy apples have two different totals. I have over 1200,but in the Prize gauges I only have about 600. Does anyone know an easy way to fix this or am I stuck making a ticket with EA?

  23. Yes Apu’s Jeep, saw the episode a few days ago so I was looking forward to it,

Parked next to other cars …it looks BIG 🚢
Parked next your Canyonero it looks small 🐜

    🎃 👻 💀 🏈 🍭 😀 🙂

  24. GUYS.M`nster killing at the Sunken Temple Give me so much candy apples i almost got Holiday Homer just 15 more.Sadly The Star Spawn Do not give much candy apples.

  25. Today the shopkeeper bonuts came, went and then came back again. also monorail bonuts so now I can relax and look forward to the black Friday deals. I still have not completely figured out how to earn the apples despite your excellent post for slow people like me. But since I already got homer I must be doing something right and I will just keep on tapping. During the last couple of events I learned I just have to keep on tapping and it will all be well in the end.

    Have a relaxed weekend

  26. Well, can’t send kids to campfire, little monsters don’t give caramel apples, and the other 4 spawns are almost nonexistent. Friends don’t give caramel apples either. Don’t foresee getting all the prizes this time…

  27. Do we still think witch Marge will show up for purchase?

  28. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but the timer for M’nthster’s return from 12 hours is glitching in my game. About every 4 seconds the timer slips back a second. Doesn’t seem like much but add it up over 12 hours and it’s taking about an extra hour every time for him to come back making it a 13 hour wait instead of 12. Anyone else seeing this?!?

  29. Thanks, but I have doubts I’ll get all the prizes this time. Your calendar states we need to get more than 700 apples a day, and it just seems to be too much for what I’m seeing so far, unfortunately. I’ve got 15 kids, but no premium skins. Normally, I’m out ahead (and I started on Act 3 as early as I could, and I play it a lot) of these things and am relaxed, but this one looks iffy. Thanks for your articles though. Oh dear God, I hope my other lawsuits are ok.

  30. Bah, these are just minor potholes on the road to Re-Neducation!

    • It’s impossible to get the Re-Neducation Center without spending donuts. Unless EA gives us all a big candy apple bonus for screwing up Act 3 so bad.

      • Now now… no need to go on EVERY single post and be so negative. We get you don’t like the method of Act 3… but over commenting your distaste in how it is so far just a few days into the act on EVERY post is a bit overkill, don’t you think? 🙂

      • Oh yes, I forgot about the random spawns from the campfire but I haven’t noticed the difference really.
And you get 50 for sending M to the campfire, whatever the 4 kids get for fighting him and 100 again when you sink the temple.
I’m having no difficultly playing the way it’s set up and I find fighting M far more interesting than endlessly sending kids to the fire.
And if you chose not to advance the questline there’s no way to get yr 20 bonuts.
No judgements, play as you want. I just choose to ignore the stats and counting apples, call me crazy but I play for fun as long as I can get everything and at this rate I’ll be done by Monday or Tuesday. And the only thing I’ve spent doughnuts on this event are skins and the Necromican and I got those because they’re fun, not because I thought they’d help in the event.

      • Really wish there was a mechanism for betting here…I think I could get very rich betting folks that it is entirely possible to do it. I almost every event, there are folks who post a mathematical “proof” of how it’s not possible to get the final prize, and yet, in the end, most people do (and often with time to spare). I’m not bothering to do the math (or even look at it), because I can’t see a scenario in which EA would develop an act inn which it was mathematically impossible to achieve the final prize…it would be too detrimental to them to piss off all of their customers!

If I don’t get the final prize (without using donuts and assuming that something doesn’t prevent me from playing at a fairly “normal” frequency), then I’ll come back and post a formal retraction.
