Christmas 2015 101: Hot Squishee Station

Special thanks to Kim (kimberlyah794) from the Addicts community for helping me out and writing this post!

Howdy Hey, Tappers!

Christmas is upon us and the festivities are just warming up! We’ve got Merrymakers roaming the streets of Springfield, looking for jolly times and hot beverages. That’s where this little shack of deliciousness comes in:

The Hot Squishy Station is FREE and unlocks via the Barty It’s Cold Outside questline. Turbo tapping guide is here.

So, what does this shack of warm, squishy scrumptiousness do for you and your town?  Let’s break down the how-to, what to and finer details of this shack….

Let’s start with the basics…

What does the Hot Squishy Station Do?

Basically, it allows you to clear Merrymakers more quickly. Each time you upgrade it, your tap radius (how many Merrymakers you can get in one tap) is increased.

How Do I Get The Hot Squishy Station?

As mentioned above, you’ll get it for FREE once you’ve started Barty It’s Cold Outside questline. Once you place it, you’ll see this popup:

2015-12-09 05.46.30

Who can buy at the Squishee Station?

Only a select group of youngsters can buy Hot Squishees, which is a four-hour task:

Youngster Stamps Earned
Bart 2
Database 2
Jimbo 4
Kearney 4
Martin 2
Milhouse 2
Nelson 2
Ralph 2
Sherri and Terri 4
Squeaky-Voiced Teen 4
Uter 4

The task to Buy Hot Squishee costs nothing and earns no XP. It only earns Loyalty Stamps.

As always, premium characters earn at a higher rate.

You just tap on the Station and you’ll see the box popup to send the kids on the task.  This is also how you upgrade:

This menu can only be accessed via the Hot Squishee Station, not through the event hub. For the record, the event hub is the trophy with the Santa hat on it:

How Do I Upgrade the Station?

You have to send kids to the Hot Squishy Station to buy hot squishees, which will earn loyalty stamps. (20px-Winter_2015_Loyalty_Stamp) You use the stamps to pay for each upgrade.

2

If you see the Loyalty Card icon over the Hot Squishee Station, that means you have characters available to send to upgrade…

3

How Many Levels Are There?

No max.  So if you’re upgrading to hit the max, you won’t.

How much does each level cost?

Each level will cost six loyalty stamps more than the one before (or 6 stamps X the level). So, level 1 requires six stamps, level 2 requires 12 stamps and so forth. I’m including a table for those that dislike math, or for any oddballs like me that love tables:

Level Loyalty Stamps Earned
1 6
2 12
3 18
4 24
5 30
6 36
7 42
8 48
9 54
10 60
11 66 (you get the idea)

You will actually spend the stamps to level up, so there is no cumulative effect on earning them like there is with the hats and the event prizes.

When Should I Stop Upgrading? And Is It Worth it?

That’s really up to you. The kids are needed for some other tasks occasionally, like upgrading the Snowman. But, as far as I can see, there is no downside to upgrading to your heart’s content. Upgrading is not required and if you choose not to, it will not stall your progress in the event. The only ongoing benefit to upgrading is the increased tapping radius. The Barty It’s Cold Outside questline stops at part 6, which requires you to reach level 20 and completing it will earn you 600 hats (100 hats for each part you complete). So, for the hats alone it is worth upgrading to at least level 20.

And that my friends concludes the details on the Hot Squishee Stand!

What are your thoughts on the Hot Squishee Stand?  Plans for upgrading? What Level are you currently on?  What do you think about it?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

Special thanks again to Kim (kimberlyah794) for helping me out and writing this post!

  1. I put my Squishy station in storage & now I can’t find it any advice?

  2. I have got to level 14/15 and getting sick of it now. Also no need to continue for the hats bonus as the hats are defunct now in act 2. They really made the hats too difficult to obtain to complete act 1 in my opinion.

  3. Since I’ve now got all the Act 1 prices but probably won’t make the additional 4k for a bonus, I wonder if I should continue to upgrade. Or should I rather just collect stamps and upgrade further in act 2 to earn act 2 currency?

  4. I’m at level 14 and not noticing much of a difference! Also, I think Sherri and Terri should get 8 tickets instead of 4. They’re classed as a premium ‘double’ and should earn as such.

I’ll upgrade at least one more time to get the extra hats.

  5. The station says upgrading will increase radius and “earn more sweets”. I was hoping for an explanation on the “sweets” parts. Is it in preparation of an upcoming quest in act 2?

  6. Probably gonna stop when the quest for it stops… seems time consuming.

  7. Ive been doing the upgrades, but am probably going to stop because it really seems like a waste…have no noticed any real difference the last several upgrades

  8. I’m disappointed Sherri and Terri don’t earn 8 stamps…

  9. How come Sherri & Terri pay regular premium? 🙁

    • Kim (kimberlyah794)

I’m not sure. They just do. Could be a mistake, or could be EA trying to slow us down a tad. I thought it was unusual and disappointing.

      • They often seem to forget to make them premium X2. Really have to watch the payouts on their tasks. Their regular permanent tasks typically pay off better than group tasks that they are included in.

        • Kim (kimberlyah794)

You know, I looked at the payouts again. Really, ALL premium characters are paying out at 200%, technically. If it was really the standard premium payout formulas, it’d be 2 tickets for freemium, 3 for premium, and 4 for Sherri and Terri. So, I guess we’re benefitting from some largess.

  10. Well written Kiim. 😉
Btw , wondering what Dolph has done that’s meant the other bullies have exclude him… 🙂

  11. Great info! I’ll stop worrying about it after level 20, then. Still plenty of upgrading to do.

  12. .

  13. Great source of hats. This event is so awesome. Last year was great but this is super ultra mega awesome. Loved the snowman and working on the gingerbread house. Only about 6000 hats from the orphan kids, can’t wait! Only one complaint, Santa’s Little Helper. I’d rather he be NPC out have at least one outdoor job. I’ve always hated Number 1 because he spends all the time in the lodge.

  14. Thanks for the info!

So far I’ve had all eligible kids on the task except for when needed for other Christmas questlines, but I think moving forward I might put the recycling / Heights kids back over there since there isn’t much incentive to keep upgrading.

It’s a nice little part of the event, but it’d feel more important if at some level (maybe 20) there was a visual upgrade to the squishy stand or something else.

  15. Redundantly -THANK YOU! I was wondering if a plateau existed. I’m working toward Level 14 (84 squishes). From there, only ~620 to go – or about 5 days

  16. Sorry if this is hijacking the blog, but semi-related question. Do we know if hats will continue into the next act, or change to someting else? I’m on my way to getting the two kids as prizes, and since my station is only level 13 right now, will probably get them before I hit level 20. Should we stop if we have all the acts prizes?

  17. I like that the upgrades have their own currency. I don’t have to choose between upgrading and crafting!

  18. Nice job Kim. I guess I’ll go until I finish level 20. 🙂

Though it would be cool if I can upgrade until 1 tap clears out my entire Springfield (one of the benefits of keeping the town small), but that won’t happen for me personally.

Wished the radius worked while visiting neighbors. :/

Hot Squishees – if that was a real thing, I would say “No thank you”. I think these Merrymakers need to go to H.S. Anonymous when this event is over.

  19. Handsome B. Wonderful

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

  20. Super great job, Kim! I’ll quit upgrading pronto💜

  21. Nice post, thanks! But how many stamps do I need to get to Level 12? LOL.

  22. Looks like I guess I’ll continue to upgrade for a bit then… Thanks for helping with the post, Kimberly! 🙂

    • Hi Sandra, dropped two “nice” presents in the sea by your ornate pier
If you send to me , ( no pressure) on the sea by the squidport makes it nice and easy to find … 🙂

      • Yes, thanks…I found them! I’ve also been trying to drop them in the water for folks already (except when their water is filled with boardwalks and islands and such). In fact, I think I just dropped you one there…. (I know I just dropped you one, but I don’t know for 100% if that’s where I dropped it…but I would definitely have looked for a spot that was pretty open….)

  23. Personally I would have liked upgrading to increase the rate of merry makers like the bonfire spawning. Enjoying the event (my 1st Christmas event). Happy Christmas everyone

  24. Level 11 and will upgrade to lv 20, good post cheers

  25. Thanks Kim! I’ll probably stop at leavel 20 then. If I have nothing else for the kids to do after 20 I may send them for more tickets, but I’m FINALLY caught up with levels, bought Gina right before this event started. So I’m trying to stockpile as much cash as possible for level 60 whenever it hits, and every character counts.

  26. Meh, I’ll upgrade when available kids can do it, otherwise no real value.

    • Kim (kimberlyah794)

Well, completing the questline will earn you a total of 600 hats, which will allow you to get the event prizes more quickly. So, there is that benefit. But you don’t need to complete the questline to continue through the event. (Meaning not completing it won’t stall your progress.)

      • Personally, I’m not interested in grinding just to get to the bonuts. Would rather use the available kids to do the weekly Monorail for tracks and donuts. I will definitely not have any problem finishing the hats quest.

        • You can do both. Easily. I haven’t missed the weekly monorail donuts since they started (in fact, always have between 2-3 days until I can earn more blueprints). Just send the characters to do their recycling first and you will still have plenty of other characters left over to upgrade or earn whatever you like for the event.

In other words, you don’t necessarily have to choose. This, of course, depends on how much you are tapping. I’ve been told I need to seek help.

          • I wish I had someone telling me to seek help…I think I’m gonna need a full-scale intervention to extricate myself from this game and site…

  27. It should be more like.. Rewarding…

  28. Excellent post kimberly! …☆

  29. “If you see the Loyalty Card icon over the Hot Squishee Station, that means you have enough stamps to upgrade”. I don’t think that is correct. The icon is lit but I have 6 of the required 66 stamps to upgrade. I think it signal that it is just available to send more kids to the station.

  30. Thanks for the post – I was wondering how long I should upgrade this. I’m at level 8 and have been upgrading just for the hats. Looks like I will be stopping at level 20 🙂 (although it would be pretty cool to upgrade to a huge tapping radius, and tap once and clear the whole town… Haha)
