So the final part of the Out with the Old questline hit early this morning…and along with the final part is a free gift from EA for the New Year!
NOTE: Fireworks are NOT the free gift. The fireworks are the icon representing the Out With the Old questline. See below for the gift….
You MUST have completed the first 3 parts of Out With the Old to get the gift from EA…you can find the walkthrough here.
First thing you’ll see is Lisa will start off the final part of Out with the Old and you’ll be awarded the New Year’s Ball…
It’s 3×3 in size…
WARNING If you tap on the ball it will fall to the ground with an animation…and essentially destroy the ball. And there’s no way from inside the game to reset it…BUT if you hard close and restart your game (or go to Krustyland or a Neighbor and come back), the ball will come back to life!
Now for the task to complete…
Out with the Old Pt. 4
Lisa starts
Make the Simpsons Celebrate the New Year- x5 (if you have Maggie, less without her) 1hr, Earns $70, 17xp
And that’s it…that will finish the Out with the Old questline and give you a New Year’s present from EA!

Happy New Year’s to all my fellow addicts! 11:36 pm here in Ottawa, Canada and we’re counting down. I didn’t think I was going to make it after a busy few days with my son at the world’s largest minor hockey tournament but ‘luckily?’ we were knocked out in the round robin and that means no hockey tonight or tomorrow! Enjoyed some Chinese take-out and chocolate fondue with my family, played some epic Mario Kart, and just generally chilling in our pj’s watching the Times Square party on tv and getting in the occasional tapping. Thanks to Alissa, Bunny, and Wookiee for all that you do, and may everyone have the year of their dreams in 2016!

Almost New Year! Anything free from EA is a good thing and I like my New Year ball gift. Typical that it would crash and burn. =) I think its cute. Now I can watch the real ball drop on the TV and then tap my own! Fun little way to commemorate America’s yearly tradition!
Come on Ghill! We are waiting for discounted stale donuts! Happy New Yeart from Australia, we are well into it for the past ten hours! We have a sunny day, with a top of 34°C but very windy. Relaxing after a very late night. I wish good health and happy 2016 to everyone, in what I dream in a peaceful world. Although it’s wishful thinking, we must all be optimistic and wish for it to happen. Blessings to all.

On FXX, I just saw a Simpson’s New Year commercial where the ball was on Town Hall. Now I see where it exactly exactly comes from!
Bleh. I was so hoping for a Gi’s Deal for discount donuts…maybe tomorrow, for the new year??

Has anybody come across a task for Marge it say walk Maggie but it’s a quest and it’s locked???
I’m having the same problem. Got a no-dialogue task for Marge to walk Maggie, but the ability to send her on the task is greyed out due to an uncompleted quest???
It is coming in Act 3.:)

Your post is very misleading. I too thought the box of fireworks was the FREE gift that I didn’t get. Reading many of the comments, others are confused too.
Fireworks is the icon for the out with the old task.
Let’s balance that up with comments from people who were not confused at all, and didn’t find this post misleading

Can someone please explain to me why I did not get a New Year’s Eve ball? It never showed up. I swear I did ALL THE QUESTLINE. Why did it not show up? Help someone! Help!

Kang and kodos 16 hour chortle has a glitch where they start where they are instead of going to the Victorian ufo.
I tried storing and this did not help. I hate even thinking about contacting ea lol. 🙁
I know that was my favorite job. Not only do they not go to the ufo I meticulously placed to accommodate the animation but the often disappear behind nearby buildings with tentacles wiggling out. I figure they’ll fix it eventually, besides Kodos and Smithers spreading Christmas cheer looks better when there’s snow so that is predominance in my game
They changed it so its not at the UFO anymore… I remember reading that as one of the changes in a recent update

Don’t think its essentially a glitch, they made it so the victorian UFO is no longer required, anyone can do that task now.

Strange gift from EA imho
Just curious, why so. It’s canon and am international symbol of the holiday.
I don’t think it’s an international symbol at all. Of anything. I’ve lived and worked across Europe and have never seen its like anywhere, except on TV in the US.
I’ve seen comments from people from all around the globe say they watch that stupid ball drop. I work 2 blocks from the ball and go out of my way to avoid it every year. The only people who go to it are foreigners. You’ll never find a New Yorker wasting their time there

Hate to say it but, yes. It’s just really different. I love it when a friend moves here from another country and they think they know America, then they go on a cross country trip and they’re always amazed how different everything is.
Different doesn’t mean different country, though… I have lived in a few different places. It’s like a different world living in rural versus urban. These places weren’t even that far away from each other. Most in the same state.
My only real issue is with “foreigner” versus the places just being very different. Different makes sense. Some would call it “diverse”. I would. lol. But I’d rather we as a country try to have a kinship. Patriotism, some would say. (I’m not as keen on that word.)
Well, I guess what’s important is if you are welcoming to these “foreigners”. Then the choice of words doesn’t really matter. By foreigners I mean Californians. 😉
That’s the beauty of it. I don’t think NY has foreigners. It belongs to the world, everyone is welcome and one of my best friends is from Tajikistan, I’m just as much a stranger and member of the community. Actually when my friends are asked where they’re from, Russia, New Zeeland, Ecuador nobody thinks twice. When they ask me and I say South Dakota, they act like I’m from Mars. “Wow, I’ve never met anyone from South Dakota before! “

Got to admit when the image of the yellow ball with the darkened bit on the top (part of the pole) the first thing that came to mind was Bart’s “Learn How to Fart” Flag.

It’s ok. Nothing to write home about. Probably just stick it next to my Sunsphere and forget about it.
I tried pounding on the ball and nothing would happen. I assumed that there would be some kind of countdown near midnight or slowly drop every hour…..and then I assumed some donuts as well….so what do I know.
Nothing happened for me either. I assumed something would happen after the Simpsons finished their quest.

Does grandpa not count as a “Simpson” anymore? I’ve had a couple tasks for the Simpsons this week (celebrate the holidays and celebrate the new year) and neither seemed to include Abe as an option. Poor guy.
Well, his family forgets him all the time, so I think it’s just habit. 🙂
I’ve found that if I go to Krustyland or visit my neighbors, the ball is back to its pristine state when I return to my town.

I think I’m confused on the “free gift” I got the ball, clicked Lisa, sent them all on their tasks, and then nothing? Am I missing something here or am I just missing my brain?

Nope. One ball. No innuendo.
I hit the ball yesterday and it crashed, but today it went back to the top. In addition to the ways you mentioned, I think the game resets the ball every 24 hours.
By my watch it’s only been about 13 hours since it was even available, so it seems far more likely that yours reset because you exited the game at some point, then opened it again.
(Hand to forehead) if you play the game 24 hours without closing out or going to Krustyland I think you will win the Addict of the Year award.
Shoot I missed that record by an hour, oh well, its an honor just to be nominated 😀
