Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s time to get that lovin’ feeling, as Valentine’s Day has hit our Springfields! A fun new mini event that’s focused around Grampa and his swinging days!
Of course, as with all events, a questline comes with it to help move us through the ins and outs of the event…and unlock all of the prizes. As was mentioned on the rundown post this mini event is similar to the Thanksgiving 2015 Event and the more recent Deep Space Homer Event, in that you’ve got to complete various tasks to unlock the prizes.
So let’s take a look at the questline to see just how to unlock all the fun prizes and finally bring Mona back to Springfield…

Just imagine how intelligent and good looking we would be if we had not grown up crawling on the floor to avoid the “blue haze” that clung from the ceiling down to three feet above the carpeting.
Fortunately, none of my parents smoked (well, except for the very occasional pipe or cigar of my dad’s, but, besides being very occasional, I only lived with him every other weekend).
I’ll never forget one time when I went to the circus and there was a little kid sitting between two parents who chain smoked during the whole performance….he was literally sitting with his head in a cloud of smoke the whole time. That little kid probably had the lungs of a 60 year old by the time he was 6. It made me so angry! I mean, do what you want with your own body, but how someone could do that to someone else, especially their own kid…argh!
I recently started watching Mad Men on Netflix and I feel like Bart in Homer’s Phobia. “I kinda want a cigarette.” But not really. I’ve smoked a cigarette before and I never will again. 🚬
It’s bothers me Giuseppe doesn’t earn double rate of hearts, Moleman and Molloy do. Not that it makes much of a difference, but it just annoys me haha.
Easy enough questline, but I don’t get why it’s taking so long for a level 60 questline. Highly prefer those to the constant events. Oh well.
I agree. This was a surprisingly quick and easy quest line. I’ll have Mona when I wake up tomorrow morning. That sounds funny. Don’t tell my wife. 😬

Something is very wrong. I am on part 4 of the quest sending all 4 possible freemium characters (OJM, Burns, Moe, Grampa) but I am collecting only one heart per go. I believe only one of these characters actually goes to the Coconut and the rest go to the Retirement Castle.
Is this happening to other players?

That’s not wrong. Not everyone will go to the same place. As long as they earn the hearts, the location does not matter. 🙂

Hi Alissa, thank you for the post and helping us, but just wondering, do you know (or do any tappers know) If we don’t already have Maude, do we get her as a character (even to buy with donuts) sorry, Im not sure if the quest line with Maude and Mona is for everyone or only those lucky people who have her already..

Quick question about Maude: I was looking at her SIB post and noticed that 2 of her tasks are joint tasks – one with Ned and one with Homer. Shortly before EA released the unemployment office they gave lots of characters new independent tasks to match the times of their joint ones. I can’t find the post about those additional tasks. Did Maude receive new tasks or will she be useless for 1 and 8 hours if I am using the office to assign tasks?

Never mind, I found it. She did get new tasks. Thinking I may have to get her!
Yup she’s got her own 1hr and 8hr task now, in addition to the joint task.
I’m very excited for the Maude option to show up in my Springfield. I’m a new tapper started in July so missed her at the Halloween before that. And I will be able to complete my Flanders collection!! 🙂
Can I put the animatronic bears in Krusty Land? I think they would be a cute addition there, but I don’t want to buy them if I have to keep them in Springfield. I would like something new for Krusty Land. 🙁

This happens a lot when new events hit. it’s not gone I promise. Expand your store menu (hit the arrow next to the 3 icons on the left). You’ll see the SH icon, there’s where your SH store is. The SH icon looks like the brick SH sign…

I have problem with this quest line… Already collected the first prize, and new quest line does not appear. When i click on the icon in top right corner, i see list of prizes to win with communicate “You need to complete quest…” but there is no quest. I think second one should be started with skineeeeeer, but hi don’t have the quest on his list. Anyone have same issue?
Try a hard close and restart…
Had a similar problem on a later part, I went to Krustyland and back, and then the finished quest registered and completed.

I’ve got 320 donuts so I can afford 2 out of mindy, maude or becky which 2 do I buy?!?! I’m thinking mindy and becky because I’m not really a fan of maudes outdoor tasks?! Would love the she she lounge but rather spend donuts on characters
I quite like having Maude in my town, and I dont mind her outdoor tasks at all. It’s not horrid like Arnie Pye, who never loses his Stonecutter outfit ever in my town. I tend to ignore Mindy now that I have the Unemployment office.

It’s quite nice. I like those mini-events, as they’re not as grindy and stressful as the big ones. The car is pretty cool, the Coconut Babaloo a nice addition to my Springfield Heights and it’s cool to have Becky and Mindy available in the store.
This is completely unrelated to the Valentine’s Day update, but WHERE’S LEVEL 60?!
This time of the year with events back to back to back to back it’s not uncommon to see a hold up in the next level. I think we’ll see it soon…probably after valentine’s day is over. Remember it’s a short event.

Agreed — though, I find it somewhat odd that if you do the math, you’ll find that the advantages offered by the premium characters seem to be distinctly minimized, in this mini-event. As an example: assuming that you have *all* of the non-premium characters, Part 1 can be completed in 3 hours without any premium characters — but in both Parts 2 and 3, even with the premium characters, you still come up one heart short after the first three hours, and have to send one more character back out on that task again. Unless I’m missing something…
Loving this event so far! Just placed the fancy flower cart on my Boardwalk! So happy to have an event going on, was starting to think it would never come. Plan on getting the birdbath today and then hopefully have enough for Sir Love A lot by the end of the event. I know they are just decorations but I love them! Also hoping the “bundle of love ” will be freemium! Fingers crossed!

Do the extra valentine’s hearts you collect carry over to the next part? Like in Part 1 you can potentially get 11 hearts but only need 6 so can the extra 5 be used for part 2?

Oddly, I’ve had mixed results on this. First I had zero carry over from part 2 to part 3; then I had 3 carry over (which should have been 6) from part 3 to part 4. The only reasons I sent everyone (except Malloy) after nothing carried over the first time is because it was going to be overnight for me so why not, I have enough in-game cash not to worry about losing some characters’ income, and during Deep Space Homer, some currency carried over for me and some didn’t. Just seemed like it was worth a shot. 🙂
I find it strange that there are mixed results with this. EA is usually pretty hard and fast with the rules- either something carries over or it doesn’t- but that doesn’t seem to be the case with these mini events, at least so far.
They carried over for me… as long as you don’t collect them before finishing part 1… I got a few extra hearts in part 2 because I didn’t need to collect them from all my characters to finish part 1
They didn’t carry over for me either. But you can do this: (assuming you’re able to log in at the time the task finishes: If you only need one more heart to finish the task, send one character on the task first, then wait a few seconds or a minute before you send the rest of the characters on the task. That way you can collect the one your missing first, and then the next part will trigger before you collect the rest and they’ll count towards the next task.
Key seems to be to stagger any extra characters so they end after you’ve claimed the prize and moved on to next phase. I found this by accident, and now started my extra characters an hour after the last ones I needed for the prize.

Sounds like they cloned the Thanksgiving 2015 event. I thought EA had changed the “template” when they released Deep Space Homer (for which these techniques didn’t work). I guess they went back to an older template for some reason. I wish we’d know which one they’re using when the events are released. 😛

I think its a bit ironic that they would release Maude as a ghost BUT yet release Mona as being alive. Hopefully they will release a skin for Maude that will make her a human and not a ghost.

Not really. She was cremated and Homer spread her ashes and disrupted a nuclear launch in the process.
I must have missed that one. The last one I saw with her was where she supposedly dies in an auto accident but then there’s a hidden message in the paper
The last one I saw was the same as Ryan,
Homer was looking at the newspaper to find a hidden message, he thought he found it which read “I AM OK”
but then at the end it showed a real message from her which said how she escaped.. And was safe..
I think that was “My Mother the Carjacker,” but a later episode called “Mona Leaves-a” centers around her death and, essentially, her final (post-death) nuclear protest.
