I took off a large portion of a day once. I came back to a lot of handshakes. It’s no so bad. A full day should be okay, too.

Probably because it was my attempt at a joke. But I’m not sure how funny it is, even to native English speakers.
Have you heard of the movie or tv show “Flipper”? They are from the 1960s, and later remade in the 90s. It was about a dolphin and since dolphins are similar to porpoises, it popped into my mind.
Simp said “porpoise” instead of, I’m assuming, propose. So instead of saying “I second it (the proposal)” I said “I flipper it.” Hilarious, right?

Exactly. I didn’t know he meant “seconding” and now I do. Without the explanation I’d only thought of the flipper part being similar to my not on porpoise typo. (Just a typo for purpose that I left just because why not. Old Open Threads should always get wild. Only the cool kids hang out after the party and paint fences white!)
My jokes are like your seven layer dip…to get to the “good stuff” you have to dig deep, unless you like the top layer, then just stay there. This is meant as an add on to my other reply to you (and a way to get to 1000).
When something humorous comes to mind I either work it into a “fully functional” joke or just roll with what I’ve got. Since we’re in last week’s thread I just rolled with “I flipper it” ’cause, why not.
Anyways, now that I’ve peeled back one layer, welcome (everyone) to the inner machinations of the Davebo mind.
I think layer one is just liking the physical view of your letters. (Replace that with how the words sound, as appropriate.) Layer two is understanding the actual words individually. Layer three is understanding them as a group, the full sentence. (I think I was between this level and the next.) Layer four is understanding that there is some subtext. Layer five is actually understanding the subtext, including pop culture references. Layer six is finding an even deeper hidden meaning that no one else “gets”. Layer seven is just being Davidbo33. This is the level where someone says, “Davidbo33, I dig you!” 😉
Even though I said “understand”, “like” also applies to each level.

Maybe it should have been “I flipper that”. I didn’t get it either, Vanessa, besides porpoises having flippers. I just smiled because I thought we were having nonsensical fun. 🙂 Did you see his explanation now?
To be honest, “I flipper it” WAS meant as “nonsensical fun.” I saw porpoise, I thought Flipper (and that porpoises have flippers). While the rest was in my mind, it wasn’t exactly a fully formed idea/joke. It wasn’t meant to stand up to scrutiny, but rather be read and forgotten, maybe get a chuckle.
When Vanessa asked for some clarity, perhaps I overdid my explanation. A better response might have been, “just a nonsensical joke, playing off of Simp’s “porpoise.”
I know. Don’t feel bad or weird about it. Sometimes, for me, the extra fun part is in the explaining. Not always, but sometimes. 🙂
We’ve had some confusion over jokes before. Added to it, this time, was Vanessa looking to understand the un-understandable. Instead of being a case of “lost in translation” it was lost somewhere in my mind. 🙃

Thought I would share my design process with all of you…
(Posting these in reverse order so that they read in the correct order…Hope it works!)
Funny thing is, I purposely read the emails from oldest to newest, so I saw your posts in backwards order, despite your intentions by posting them in reverse order, lol!
That tends to be the way I read them too but thought I would do it this way in case there are others out there who aren’t like me – backwards! 😄😄😄

OMG I’m very I’m very impressed! I just start with putting down buildings then try to figure out a design. I change things on almost daily basis, I get one area done, move to other then don’t like the way it all looks so change it over and over. I like my town for the most part, but sure yours must put mine to shame!

Once again using the first picture I made (which is the last one I posted 😃) I did the ‘rough’ sketch using the Illusion Hand app Sketch function. Don’t think it ‘sketches’ quite as well as SketchMee but it gave me the look I wanted…
And that’s how the magic happened😃😃😃

Using the first picture I made (which is the last one I posted 😃) I used SketchMee to turn it into a sketch. Once again there are about 8 different settings you can adjust (pencil/pen, accuracy etc) until you are happy…
Then a rough colour painting to see how the colours work together…

Using the picture below I used PaintMee to make it look like a painting (bought app but there is a free version – don’t think you can save your picture in the free one but you can take a screenshot of it & save it that way).
You can play around with about 8 different settings (colour accuracy, brush size etc) until you like the result… 😃

Stitched 4 images together using AutoStich (bought the app so that I could save higher quality photo)
Removed the colour from the edges of the pic using my favourite app – Illusion Hand (also bought version although there is a free version). Done using the Colour Focus option…
I don’t see the original, but that’s okay. You did all that on a phone? How’d you get such sharp corners?

I must confess that when 4:20 was first mentioned I read it as a time and not a date! (You Americans insist on writing dates the wrong way round…). We have a family joke that any time there is a lull in a conversation the time is either 20-past or 20-to (check this for yourself and you will see how often it happens) so initially thought it was a variation on this – especially when Ryan mentioned his watch that had 4:20 instead of the normal numbers!!!

You learn something new every day 🙂 I had only heard of 4/20 as in April 20th – the day to celebrate & smoke… Just thoght you wrote it as 4:20. Guess I now know why that date was chosen 🙂 🙂 🙂
We write dates the correct way. ISO dates would be written “2016-04-20”, which is big to small. Ours is 4/20/2016, which has the only error of the year being at the end, but doesn’t everyone know the year for….a year? Yours would be 20/4/2016, which is completely backwards, small to big. The first number is constantly changing, which I think is bad. The month is important. It tells us that important dates may be coming up, such as birthdays or holidays. Business quarters are divided closely with months (every 3 months).
So in conclusion if you don’t like our way, that’s fine, but better to switch over to ISO. You guys are already doing metric….keep leading the way. 🙂

So far the Quick Thoughts app has done a whole lotta nothin for me. Every survey I get offered asks if I have kids. I don’t and they say the survey isn’t for me. I’m just gonna start lying soon lol.
I downloaded it and I was disappointed. Answered several questions and, like you, ended up with surveys that weren’t for me. I got about $.10 before I deleted it lol.
That’s interesting…I got the first $10 in a little over a week. The second $10 is going more slowly, but I’m up to $6.10 (I think things were slow for the long Presidents Day weekend, aside from everything else), so I’m hopeful I’ll have my next $10 (which means time to trade the $20 in for a truckload of sprinklies, I think) before the end of next week!
One tip….never admit to being older than 54…most market research surveys are uninterested in the opinions of anyone older than that and that’s still old enough to qualify for the few that are interested in the opinions of “seniors” (gah!). Even at 54, you’ll get disqualified for some, but I try to stay at least close to the truth, for moral reasons. So, I just decided that my birthday this year didn’t count. 😉
Oh, and I don’t have, and never have had, children, so that can’t be the only disqualifier for you… Make sure that when it tells you you don’t qualify, you go back into the app and make sure that there’s nothing for you to tap on anymore. Sometimes it will be like that but, when I close the app and reopen it, there are more screeners to try.

I don’t understand… Is Maude a permanent addition now? I thought they had brought her back for Valentine’s Day mini-event.
And I still don’t have Jesse, but I think you would like him the best… From what I’ve read, he helps with the Rail Yard and has some fun outdoor tasks, too. And as for Maude, she has only one outdoor task (haunt Springfield), if I recall correctly.
She leaves…not permanent. Just hung around after v-day because she didn’t unlock to purchase until after you unlock mona.

I love having both, but if I had to decide now between the two of them I’d probably go with Jesse because of his Rail Yard tasks and because I really like his yoga practice moves. I often have him doing yoga when the Rail Yard is done for the week. Having said that you never know if and when Maude will be available next time… and you’d also get the Gypsy Fortune Tellers while Jesse will be around permanently now.
Thanks to you (and everyone else) for your thoughts on the Jesse vs. Maude thing. After falling behind on the rail yard tasks today and listening to Lisa’s incessant pleading, I went ahead and got Jesse.
(Maude would have been more tempting if she weren’t a ghost, too, to be honest. As a ghost, I think she’d have just made me sad for the boys (and Ned, although he moved on…). But the Fortune Teller shop would have looked nice next the Gentlemen’s Social Club…)

Tap on building she is on not her. Simms like she hides best on third try sometimes, but I get donuts from her every time!
Slide and scroll once the countdown has finished, you’ll hear a couple of “whooshing” sounds if you’re close, once that “settles”, you can pinpoint the slurping if it sounds loud, and then tap the “base” of every building on screen.
Who here wants to be able to store everything using the track piece way? One tap only. 🙂

Yes. I think a combo of the two would be fine. One tap, confirm, store, then tap(store), tap(store), etc. For houses a confirm each time would be fine still.
I think the track could maybe even emulate roads. Drag and place.
Does anyone how often there are black-Friday-style sales for Premium characters (getting 30 donuts back for your 150 for exemple) ? There’s the actual Black Friday one from Gil but I was wondering if it happens at other times, to decide to spend now or wait a little bit. thanks

Hmm not 100% sure if the right place for this question so sorry if it is not, but the 12 hour space rocket launch. It’s meant to replace the daily rewards along with the daily challenges right? I’m curious what people have gotten. I’d say I get a successful launch 1 out of every 4 or 5. (No big deal on success rate. I expect that)
I’ve only gotten 2 things from a successful launch. Actually allow me to rephrase. I’ve gotten maybe about 12 things from successful launches except all I ever get are Hail Ant signs and Debris. Has anyone gotten anything else? If that’s all it has in store for me then so be it. Just want to know. Thanks

Is anyone having an issue with having to download the EA Games name change update repeatedly? I’ve had to about 10 times in the past week.
Maybe a dumb question but who knows there may be a plumber or chemistry professor among us…….
In England it’s impossible to buy a decent chemical drain unblocker maybe they worry about people getting poisoned/causing explosions, anyway the ones you get at the hardware store are useless.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?

I’m sure the problem is girly long hair (not being sexist but I hardly got any so I know it’s not me) the location is our shower and basin in the bathroom ….the water runs away eventually but if you have a 3 minute shower, you end up standing in 3″ of water
Plunging (is that a verb? with a plunger) is a two person/two plunger job as the water from the shower can be made to come up into the basin and vice versa, the blockage (or clump of hair) must be where the two outlet pipes join into one so any chemical will need to be introduced down both shower and basin to attack the blockage from either end
Any ideas ?

Britt says snake. I’ve just gone down and pulled the u-bend pipe out and cleared it. After that, prevention. I don’t think you have to drain-o both drains. It just backs up from the tub, I’m sure. (I’m not a professional, just a tinkerer.)

I’ve used vinegar, sometimes it works sometimes not heck of a lot cheaper! Also do they have those (don’t know real name) but they are upside down screen, screen sticks up and enclosed with a circle, on your side of pond? That’s what they are designed for sits over drain, then u just remove when your lovely long haired is done showering. I got mine at hardware store. Good luck!
Sink strainer!!! Omg those are literally one of my favourite inventions ever. My kitchen sink was CONSTANTLY getting clogged with lil bits of leftover food, and the stupid u bend is literally WELDED onto the pipe. The sick strainer catches everything and I just empty it when I’m done the dishes 😃
If you are throwing up while washing the dishes (…sick strainer…?) you might be leaving them in the sink for a little too long 🙂 🙂 🙂

Well true story, before I actually discovered the magnificent sink strainer I had to do the dishes in the tub one night because the stupid sink was so helplessly clogged. 😖
If the shower drains slowly but the basin drains normally then the problem is closer to the shower outlet. Put the plug in the basin and ‘plunge’ the shower… Then you can do it on your own 🙂
But before you plunge in, having fairly long hair myself I also find that if you feel around on the outlets you will often be able to pull out a clump of hair that has formed just below the outlet. You can use rubber gloves or tweezers if you are squeamish but it’s harder to know when you’ve found some! If you do this and then plunge it often works best…
