The Largest Redwood dropped into our games yesterday. Like some events in the past this is an “upgrade” item. When you’ll spend the time to upgrade the tree from Level 1 up to Level 10, until you’ve got the Largest Redwood Tree in your Springfield! To find out more about upgrading the tree check out our rundown post here.
Once you’ve maximized your Redwood Tree you’ll unlock Treehugger Lisa! She’s finally arrived in Springfield…to save the town from itself! Treehugger Lisa comes with her own questline, so let’s take a look at just what happens when you unlock her in your Springfield…

I am having difficulties with level 1, I made Milhouse Watch the Tree and Lisa Disappoint Milhouse with a Friend Hug, but it won’t unlock level 2.
Did you click on the upgrade icon over the tree? Once you’ve completed those you should see an icon floating over the tree, so just tap on the tree and it should upgrade.
I did and nothing,………so I finally deleted and reinstalled it and now it works. Shoulda tried that earlier lol
Haha, I just upgraded the tree, and there’s more Krustyland-bashing dialogue. I sure hope this means that they’ve got a plan.

It’s hard for me not to finish task bar stuff but the cons feel like they out-way the pros. :/
I want to get the Gypsy Fortune Teller Shop before it leaves the store but for some reason the building doesn’t appear on the screen when you click to buy her and just the spend donut confirm banner appears.
IIRC, when I bought it, it immediately put the building into storage for some reason without giving me the option to place it directly. I think Maude did get placed immediately.
When I gave in to temptation and bought Maude and the shop, both of them went into storage immediately and I had to dig them out.
Hey, long time reader, first time commenter.
I don’t want people to think that I am looking for cheats or anything because I am not, I have been playing this game for quite a while now and have no reason to do it. But I have always been curious about one thing. You talk about premium and freemium players. And I have seen people in the comments that literally spend so many donuts at every event, and what I was just wondering is do people actually spend their real money on all their donuts? How do you afford to do that? Like I have 160 donuts and I have to be really picky with that I spend them. It is mainly just because I can’t believe that people do it. Don’t take any offence to this please, just a curious person.
Much like in life…it all depends on what you spend your money on. For many players (myself included, in my personal game..not the one I use for the site), it’s entertainment so you don’t mind throwing some money into the game every once in a while.
Alissa-why don’t you make coffee at home? You can buy good stuff on the cheap and put it in a travel cup. I literally always have a Tervis of coffee in the a.m. I wake up, start the coffee then shower. By the time shower is done coffee is ready and I still haven’t had to talk to anyone! Might be difficult with Riley but how do you NOT coffee before speech? I could never do it…..
lol i do but it’s gone by the time i get to work. And I like to have a coffee while I’m sitting at my desk reading through all the fires I have to put out that morning. I usually drink a cup on my way to work, then stop at starbucks for another cup and then some days have another starbucks (really bad days). It’s funny when I was pregnant I didn’t miss drinking at all..what I missed was regular coffee lol
It makes sense to me. I love alcohol, but coffee is a way of life. If I had to choose between the two I would probably pick coffee. …..side note, I just broke down and created a word press because I’m on this site so much and it needs to be easier to comment. Lol. And how did I miss the glitch yesterday? What was it? :/ so sad….I suppose the physics and o chem classes I went to were more important.

I buy iTunes cards at Costco for like $85. It’s 2400 donuts. I know that’s a lot of money for a game but I rationalize it like people rationalize $5 coffees, $12 lunches, $35 bottles of wine, or $85 bar tabs on a Friday night etc.
My husband and I did the math of my morning coffee trip to starbucks plus my going out to lunch everyday during work. It’s about $75 a week we were saving when I was home for 3 months with the baby. Which adds up to $300 a month….on coffee and lunch. So now I bring my lunch again (i still go out for lunch once a week or so) and make coffee at work (although it’s not as good as starbucks…). So spending $100 every couple of months on donuts is nothing in comparison lol
You made me curious and I did my own math, it averages about the same for Starbucks and lunch. That’s a lot of money! I try to bring my lunch more often but sometimes in the morning I just can’t get it together and I have to choose between being on time and bringing lunch. Now I’m thinking what else could I do with $300? Ooorrrr more realistically $200? The Starbucks habit is a hard one to break!
lol yes it is…the coffee at work is awful! But it actually saves me a bunch of time (not just money) not stopping every day now, because it’s not exactly on the way to work (especially with having to drop Riley off). Lunch used to be more difficult for me, for the same reason. But now I have Riley as my alarm clock in the morning…so i’m up about 45 minutes to an hr earlier than I used to be lol.
But yea it’s seriously a ton of money that can be saved each month…think of all the Phillies games you could go to! 😉
I used to work near a LOT of food stores. So it was Tim Hortons on my way to the bus for a coffee/ice cap, bagel, and a donut if I wanted to treat myself. Then off to the grocery store next door at lunch to see what the snack bar had. It was averaging about $300 a month too.
Since we moved, there’s NOTHING on my way into OR at work so no other option but to brown bag it or starve LOL. Hated it at first but it saved me SO much money. Now that I work from home I’m also saving on my travel expenses, so ya, $20 or $30 for donuts doesn’t seem too crazy anymore 😊 Granted I’m definitely not someone who spends them frivolously either though.
I was Freemium player for a year. I then started buying a scratch-off every Sunday. I hit the Jackpot quite often. I now buy a truckload of donuts every three months. I see some of my premium friend’s towns that are big spenders. Although, I cannot buy as often, I still enjoy seeing their designs.
The game and forum bring me great joy and gives me a break from the real life drudgery. You can now actually remain a freemium player and be just as entertained with a beautifully designed town. My motto – Don’t be tempted to spend what you do not have. Just be patient, slowly build up your town, and make new friends. If I think I am seeing a hacked game, I feel disappointed. That player is not experiencing the real joy of the game.
You can also just pick a monthly limit of what your willing to spend on donuts without going to crazy spending extremes. If you play the game all the time, spending $20 to $50 a month on it is not really all that outrageous IMO, but obviously it depends on how much disposable income you have.
While I’m impressed with how much some people spend, of course people spend money on the game. I played completely freemium the first year or so, but if you think about it, they’re only releasing new content because people will pay for it. EA is a big faceless corporation and it’s easy to see them as just trying to get their grubby hands on our money, but everything we see in the game has been conceptualized, written, and coded by actual human beings who deserve to be paid for their work just like I do. So I spend a little money, and I’m grateful for the people who spend a lot and happy for the people who can enjoy the game without spending a dime.
Im what you call a hybrid player. I play mostly freemium but occasionally I buy donuts. I used to play on my PlayStation and I bought many games for that. Since I don’t spend my money on consoles and games anymore I have no problem buying some donuts for this game. Also I use Google opinion rewards and get money added to my phone for taking surveys. When I get a dollar on that I go and buy a golden scratcher.
I budget it under “entertainment” and I KNOW it’s cheaper than going to the bar 4 times a week like I used to.
Speaking strictly for me, i have a good job, love The Simpsons and i usually do one of two things! If items are limited time, i spend 25.00 Itunes, use twenty for the 300 sprinkles and take five chances on lottery but if i fall behind on stuff then i save my usual twenty bucks out of five paychecks! Use the 100 and grab the 2400 sprinkles because ultimately that is the best deal aside from Gil! 🙂
I’ve been playing since it came out for android and I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on my game and I definitely tap almost as much as I play my ps4. So for me it’s money well spent.

who cares about debris?
Got 8 donuts yesterday from clearing the stuff 🙂
I got 3 this morning. I kinda wish I’d gone more nuts on the debris with the glitch; I think I got about 300, but I should’ve gone for broke and added another zero or two to the total.
Donuts are great if you need them in the short term, but I think the real opportunity (for a long term payoff) was to boost your XP modifier. Yes, it involved more grinding in SH, but you can’t get Tennis Courts and Modern Mansions every day… and 8 donuts isn’t enough to even get your multiplier up by 0.1%.
er… 0.5%, but you get my point.
Oh believe me, I ground out as many Tennis Courts as I could. Fortunately I’d been slowly building up a reserve of Awards, so that gave a boost. I think I got 24 in the end. If I could have, I would have sat up all friggin’ night!
I can’t believe I didn’t think of Modern Mansions!!! *sob*
That’s amazing. I’ve cleared more debris than I can count and have never earned so much as a crumb. That said, I just earned 6 donuts today for broadcasting Regular Programming at Channel 6. Hot.
I didn’t know till now you could get donuts from the space debris, though I earned one or two from the debris in the new land sections before.
Could someone please expand on the comments I’ve been reading here about the “trick” with the space debris, clearing it and getting donuts. Some people are reporting getting 6 – 8 donuts. Thanks for the help guys.
No trick to it, just place them and have homer or lisa clean them. Donuts are random
Random – and very low likelihood. The Wiki says that the “Clean Up Springfield” task for Homer or Lisa will produce a donut 1% of the time.
There was a “trick” yesterday for getting lots of extra debris, but it was quickly fixed.
The trick was a short lived glitch that EA fixed today. You could always get a free random doughnut from the debris, but someone discovered a glitch that would let you- in effect- farm debris for doughnuts. Alas- the glitch is gone. 🙁

In all honestly stuff like this we’re happy to discuss in the comments..but we won’t dare write a post about it. A post screams for EAs attention…when it comes to comments EA is paying no more attention to what comments we (yes Bunny included) make vs what comments you guys make. It’s not like they look thorough the comments and say “oh Alissa said this, better make a patch”. It has the same impact in the comments if we say it or if you say it. So comment at your own risk..cause you never know if EAs watching you while you tap in the bathroom 😉
I guess I had better not discuss the 250,000,000+/- I made from crafting and selling items, nor the 385 donuts I snagged because of associated actions.

I’m so bummed that they fixed the glitch, but I got 5 free tennis courts before they fixed it.
I also got a free chalet and a SH level 4 island.
Grrrrr…. I had to actually go to the office today, so only did a couple of things before I ran out the door. I thought this was a glitch that had been around for a while and would be there when I got back and could properly exploit it. Guess not. 🙁
But at least I have some rose bushes and Monsarno walls I didn’t have before! 🙂
I was so sad yesterday I never crafted a flower wall or cactus patch (focused on cane fields) but, thanks to Ciara, my monorail angst is a thing of the past as well as not having enough pastel and stonecutter fence pieces (YAY!) rose bushes and arches, pumpkin patches and more cane fields and a couple of zenith city store fronts and purple lofts. I regret falling asleep before I crafted bio hazard walls and towers and more bunny gates but I’m very happy with I did get before the patch 😍😂😂 Thank You Ciara!

I think EA is just being a little greedy now first we spend all our donuts on NASA and then V -DAY and now they want a 100 donuts for Jesse Grass I love my game but they already took all I have.

There have been various rumors about EA getting ready do discontinue the game, is that true. And if it is will EA still let us tappers keep our towns? What would most likely happen?

They aren’t rumors, they’re paranoid speculation.
Plenty of people were saying that 2014 would be the last year of the game because there weren’t enough “good” characters left to last us much longer, and it was taking months for us to get a new level. Then 2015 was going to be the last year of the game because the developers were burning through all the “good” event ideas and EA would be focusing more on titles like Battlefront. Now, 2016 is certainly going to be the last year of the game because we’re getting a better daily bonus than we used to, and it’s been months since we had a new level. And then, 2017 is going to be the last year of the game because the developers have burned through all the good characters and event ideas and EA is going to start focusing on virtual reality games or something…
Those “rumours” have been around for years. But they just released content that’s totally free. Sure, you can buy Jesse, but he’s a new permanent addition, like a level update. If they were getting ready to give up, why create freedom content?

Alyssa, what’s your opinion of the game mentioning Krustyland several times lately in the dialogues? Do you think it’s meaningless, or maybe something more?
I think they’re just playing on the grumbles from people. They know people don’t like Krustyland…or don’t use it. Similar to how they would mention the wheel over and over again, or how the game was “rigged” in the dialogue. They’re just playing on what people are saying at the moment..
Also…totally unrelated but another question…is there a limit to the amount of bonuts you can get from clearing debris? Or perhaps it has a timer that resets after 24hrs? I’ve had homer clearing for an hour but nothing since the initial few. Same with lisa. Thanks ☆

Not too thrilled about getting another Kwik-E-Mart and Krusty Burger since I already have one of each in my town. It’s going to be a long while before I’ll get them so I have plenty of time to decide where to hide them in town if I do place them. They are cash earners in the game, so I generally keep those types of decorations around. Hopefully we’ll get more land soon. I’m starting to max out the land I do have and the rest of the plots I have left to buy are pretty pricey right now.
I had multiples of each of those until the Halloween event last year. I had a (House of) Heck of a time storing the other buildings in order to get the Halloween skins for the buildings. I’d recommend avoid putting those extra buildings in your game, but if you have to, put them in SH or somewhere where you know which one is the original building.
The high school is great for hiding a couple Kwik-e-marts; they just look like an extension.

Glad to finally get Jesse Glass back. Thought about getting him with the trash, but didnt. Really glad to have him now.
Not sure if this is a glitch. The tree thing levelled up about 4 times after completing the first task. And used up about 200 of my precious donuts. Has anyone else experienced this? Pretty niffed. Is there anyway to get them back
Report it. Check that your confirm spend is on. Turn it on before calling EA. Ask them to rollback your game to when you fist got the tree. Be more careful in “the future”. 🙂
Bonz – check to see that you haven’t inadvertently disabled the “confirm donut spend” option. that is if you had enabled it to begin with. (and no, once donuts are spent they’re spent.)
