Casino Event 101: My Chip Count Doesn’t Match

Hey there Hoppereenos!

Bouncing by with some help and clarifications on the main “issues” and questions we are seeing during the new Casino Event.

In this post, I am going to go over and Clarify WHY you see TWO Chips Totals in your game as you progress. There is not an issue, nothing is wrong, just a way of EA telling you how much you have for specific areas.

Let’s dive into the details….

PERSONAL PRIZE CHIP COUNT

In the main pop up for the Personal Prizes, you will see how many Chips you will need to earn for each item individually. That means you are ONLY seeing the Chips needed for just that one item. NO OTHER TOTALS.

Here are some examples…

Burns Fountain costs 6800 Red Chips INDIVIDUALLY, you only see the INDIVIDUAL cost in the Personal Prize screen for the Burns Fountain.

Individual Red Chip Count Burns Fountain

Magician Milhouse costs 21600 Red Chips INDIVIDUALLY, you only see the INDIVIDUAL cost in the Personal Prize screen for Milhouse.

Individual Red Chip Count Magician Milhouse

This will help you to know just how close you are to getting that one item. Nothing more, so everytime you move on to the NEXT prize you will ONLY see the amount needed for that prize.

If you want to know your complete total, exit the Personal Prizes and look in the Lower Left Corner of your game. The Overall Chip Count is there.

Here are the INDIVIDUAL AMOUNTS again from the Calendar post.

OVERALL CHIP COUNT

As you progress through the Event, ALL your Chips with gather and collect to your Overall Total Chip Count in the Lower Left side of your game screen. This is every Chip you have earned to date. Prizes and all.

Here is an example.

I just started and have only earned 200 Red Chips Overall to date in this part… so 200 Red Chips show in my total.

Overall Red Chip Count 200

I have earned EVERY PERSONAL PRIZE in this test game, so my Overall Total will show EVERY SINGLE RED CHIP EARNED to date for those Prizes and then some.

Overall Red Chip Count 101600

This amount will NOT match the amount in the Personal Prizes as this is, as I noted, the OVERALL TOTAL. EVERY CHIP EARNED. Those amounts are adding every time you get a Red Chip.

Here is the Math of what you may see as you earn each prize

Burns Fountain is 6800 ico_casino_redchip_lgRed Chips

Add to that total the NEXT prize (15900 Red Chips)…

That means you will have earned up to 22700 Overall ico_casino_redchip_lgRed Chips by the time you get the Impulse Wedding Chapel

Add to that total the NEXT prize (21600 Red Chips)…

That means you will have earned up to 44300 Overall ico_casino_redchip_lgRed Chips by the time you get Magic Act Milhouse

Add to that total the NEXT prize (27300 Red Chips)…

That means you will have earned up to 71600 Overall ico_casino_redchip_lgRed Chips by the time you get the Britannia Casino

Add to that total the FINAL Act One prize (29600 Red Chips)…

That means you will have earned up to 101200 Overall ico_casino_redchip_lgRed Chips by the time you get  Lucius Sweet and you will have all 5 Personal Prizes.

6800+15900+21600+27300+26900 = 101,200

OVERALL EARNED TO DATE TOTAL0

Overall Red Chip Count 200

The two will NOT match (except right at very start to the first prize) so don’t worry when they do not. If you want to verify your total, just add.

There you have it. A breakdown of just one of the many things you will see during the game. If you want to know how much you have earned to this day, check the overall Total. If you want to know how much more you need to earn for an item, go to the Personal Prize screen.

Did this help you to understand the two totals better? Make sense? Still confused? Let us know.

  1. Let me start by saying, thank you to the TSTO Addicts. Your posts are awesome and really help me in my game. Having said that, I am really looking forward to a post, soon – I hope, on crafting in this event. Crafting seems to be set up differently than we’ve seen in the past. I haven’t crafted anything yet, just accumulating crafting currency for now. Thanks again for the efforts and all the great posts.

  2. To me it’s not that hard to understand. One is how much you’ve earned in the whole event, the other is how much since the last prize.
And it’s not like it’s new, it’s been that way for the past few events,

    • Not that I recall, and I do generally keep an eye on that number in the lower main screen as well as in the prize area. If they had done it this way before, we wouldn’t be seeing people confused by it now. I came here specifically to see if EA was aware of the problem and to find out when they intended to fix it. So it certainly struck me as something new and pointless. Basically, it is no longer useful to watch the total on the main screen.

  3. I think there’s more chance of me playing beach volleyball with Stephen Hawking than understanding all this malarkey!

  4. *head explodes*

  5. I wonder what’s the way to go: craft craft craft or update first to have more options on the craft items…

  6. It makes sense as far as how those two values are calculated, it still puzzles me as to WHY they’d want to display both values in the first place? Since the “current” count is the one used to unlock prizes, the overall count is pretty much good for nothing, other than to confuse players.

    • Agreed, wish they’d do it like the rail yard.

      It’s simple and not confusing.

    • I strongly suspect it was a mistake, since now the cumulative count in the lower left hand corner is not useful for seeing how close you are to the next prize unless you engage in higher math. Other events did it the sensible way, showing the cumulative total you need for the next prize directly in the prize area also. So you could just keep an eye on the number at the bottom of the main screen. There really is no point to doing it this oddball way if there is no value to knowing your cumulative number of chips for the entire event. Somebody just forgot to set it right and is pretending it was a deliberate experiment… That’s what we call a CYA maneuver. To quote Nelson: “Ha, ha.”

  7. Apologies if you’ve already answered this. When I visit neighbours the red, green and blue chips for each neighbour all show 0. I’m guessing only red chips should have a number at this stage. I know some of my neighbours are definately playing but their totals show 0.

  8. I only have 3000 chips right now. 🙁

  9. What Item could improve vanity?

  10. Does anyone see a Red Chips count greater than zero on the overview screen with their friends’ Springfields? They’re ALL saying “0” here and I just can’t imagine that none of my friends has earned Red Chips yet.

  11. When you visit your friends, why don’t their chip totals show?

  12. Hey Alissa? I put down the Burns’ Casino Players Club yesterday – I am still stuck on the first track, for 100 casino chips, 120/295. And today I am not able to move forward with the 2nd track prize. Have you encountered this? Should I contact them?

  13. This event looks AMAZING so far, I also check spoiler sites and the upcoming content is just great.

BUT it’s kind of starting to feel like the beginning of Terwilligers in that there’s SO much going on. So I have some questions, I’m sure most of them will be answered in upcoming posts but it feels good to write them down:

    1. The purple crafting pieces, are they ONLY to be used to craft chips? In that sense is it best to save them for an act when you’re falling behind?

    2. Are there going to be more crafting prizes added or is this what there is? I know that ones probably hard to answer but if this is what we’re getting it makes it a LOT easier to save for what you want.

    3. Is there ANY way to get all the “club card” prizes without buying anything premium? This is the first event where there’s a separate prize track which seems to be impossible to complete unless you spend donuts. I know this is going to divide the community, but events should be 100% completable as long as you put in the time and effort, you shouldn’t HAVE to spend donuts to complete a prize track /endrant

    4. The level up bar has 10 notches, does that mean I have to use 40 coasters or 50 horseshoes TEN times to get to the next level of items??? And then 10 more times to get to level 3?? What a rip off!! There’s some REALLY cool craftables in level 2 and 3 that I’ll either never get to or when I do I won’t have enough material left to craft them 😢

    5. So that being said, what’s the best crafting strategy? Upgrade first, then craft? Craft then upgrade? The crafting items give out club points, and some of the club point prizes are more crafting materials, so maybe craft then upgrade is best? Who knows lol.

    6. I know you’ve answered this a few times Alissa, but I just need to add it to my list, any point hoarding gold coins? I ask because we’re obviously getting 2 more mini games (Cletus’ and Homers) and I don’t think EA is kind enough to provide different currency for each. We’ll probably have to choose which game we want to spend the coins on.

Probably sounds like I’m complaining but I’m really not, the upcoming prizes look amazing, it just annoys me when there’s items in an event that seem completely unattainable. Oh and have I mentioned I hate crafting??? LOL it’s seriously the worst thing they’ve ever come up with, even worse than the wheel.

    • 1) So far..yes. And yes.
      2) From what I can tell, what you see is it.
      3) I’m still calculating. (which is why there’s no club card post yet)
      4) From what I can tell, yes. Still working through it (which is also why there’s no crafting post yet)
      5) See above lol
      6) Not that i can tell. I’m spending as i get them (at least till i earn all the prizes)

    • In regards to number 3, while it’s too early to tell, I sure hope this game isn’t going down that route. Where you *need* to spend donuts to get all the “freemium” prizes. That causes nothing but aggravation, something Alissa and Bunny can attest to.

  14. Hey Alissa, do you think that Maybe since we’re not seeing Those Casino Performers with that white tiger named Anastasia, (I forgot their names) maybe they will appear in a Gil deal in March? Also, Do you think that they will release level 60 and St.Patrick’s in the middle of the Event? They did that last year also during Superheroes. That was when they released level 50 last year, so maybe they release level 60 this in a similar way. Sorry for the ramble. 😊

    • It’s possible…
I do think we’ll see St. pats as a mini event still. As far as Level 60, I wouldn’t be surprised either way. It has been a while since a level, but this event has so much giong on I wouldn’t be surprised if they waited.

  15. To get to level 2 of the crafting items, do I update the gold bars or the chains? Also, how so I get martini glasses?

    Thanks

    • Martini glasses and other crafting will appear when you upgrade and unlock the items that require them. (also via the VIP) And yes to upgrade you used the keychains and coasters.

  16. Thanks for writing this up; the first time I saw this system in an event it bothered me, but it doesn’t anymore. I’m awful with numbers so I keep track of my progress by watching the amount of donuts it would cost to buy the prize tick down, it really clarifies things for me 🙂

Quick question (I know there will be a specific post about crafting but am impatient 😉 Should we be upgrading our crafting tiers with the coasters and horseshoes, or will their be a way to upgrade them for “free” without using the coasters and horseshoes? Or is upgrading largely what the coasters and horseshoes are for? Does that make sense? I want to be sure I’m not doing the equivalent of speeding up a task with donuts and wasting crafting materials. My husband says just upgrade as soon as you have enough but I want to be sure.

  17. My daily challenge is asking me to get courtesy chip, when I click on it, it takes me to Moe’s casino, so I have a question: is this chip the same reward Moe gives you when you lose? Kinda confused with this one. Thanks! 🙂 p.s. thanks for all the updates you posted since yesterday.

  18. That was really well explained. Multiple times even. 🙂

  19. I hope they get a little more generous with the crafting supplies. I barely have anything, and you need a lot to get to level 3 even without making anything else.

    • Sorry about the double post. My first comment did not show after half an hour, so I thought I had misclicked.

    • The event lasts 34 days. There are, and will be, plenty of ways to earn the crafting currency you’ll need to make it to level three, and still be able to craft many of the prizes. EA always allows for most of the prizes to be earned, crafted, or won- even for freemium players. 🙂

  20. Here’s another question about chips: why is it that on the naighbors screen, no one has any chips period? I should think that everyone playing would have accumulated some red chips by now.

  21. Are the vegas wives PCs or NPCs? I’d expect NPCs at that price, but I’m never sure.

With so many good PCs in the game now, I just don’t feel like NPCs are worth it. They just get lost in the chaos and really don’t do anything to help the town.

  22. I prefer it the other way personally. It;s weird they’re using both ways in one event (Casino Players Club) though- makes it kinda confusing for newer players haha.

  23. Could you please do a breakdown of earning the club card points and levelling up crafting and how that works? I’m sure it’ll become clearer in the next couple of days, but I’m quite confused right now and don’t want to screw myself over from getting the late prizes down the the track. Thanks.

    • Yup it’s coming. I expect it to be up tomorrow morning. So many requests on various things I’m trying to knock things out as best as I can with posts, but I still have to play through a bunch of stuff to figure it out myself..which is why some posts take a little longer. But I do expect it up shortly 🙂

  24. I am a little frustrated at the lack of crafting supplies. During Christmas, the merry makers dropped hats, plus what you needed to craft stuff. Here I have barely gotten anything. I might get a couple of key chains after tapping 20 gamblers, or a few from slots. This looks like it will take forever to get to crafting level 3, and that is if I don’t make anything.

    • I guess you could call it a gamble when it comes to crafting then. 😉

    • Miranda aka Lissa53

If you craft and place things that will give you extra Cuba Card Points, which in turn will eventually give you packages of crafting supplies. I just received 30 Keychains from the Players Club, and am 25 points away from winning 20 Coasters. Just persevere…you’ll get there!😊

  25. Thanks Bunny , but now I can’t get Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed and confused” out of my brain …. 🙂

  26. $1.8 Billion… WTF c’mon what’s the secret to accumulating that much game currency?

    • Bunny’s game has actually been bugged for a while. EA’s been in it several times and can’t resolve it. She went in one day and her cash was crazy high. So just one of those happy glitches. I’ve seen it go the other way too, where it’ll show negative money.

  27. Thanks as always for such useful information 😀 I have a question about crafting. It says for example on the ficus plant 0/2 earned but you earn club card points on the first 4 that you buy but how can that be if you can only earn two?!

    • I think when you level up it increases how many you can get. Not 100% sure, still playing around with it which is why there’s no crafting post just yet.

  28. I have a new issue (started last night) – I can’t do anything with my redwood tree anymore. I’m still in the level with Lisa and Snake and after each one finished their most recent 10-fertilizer task, it doesn’t give me the option to continue. Anyone else having this problem?

  29. Thanks, Bunny! I don’t have enough toes to count this high…😜 😘😘

  30. Hate that they’ve gone back to this. Thought they ditched the experiment after Halloween
