Hey hey Addictereenos!
So we’ve all been gambling our digital tails off lately and IMHO, all the new additions and questline have been fun, but all good things eventually come to an end. For those of us who have finished the Act III questline, you probably noticed a little teaser right at the end.
This got me to thinking (despite what the “experts” say about thinking too much). I said to my self, “Self… what could they possibly mean with this little bit of teasery.” Well… the truth is, I don’t truly know but I had some thoughts and figured there’s no place better to share than here. So… a Springfield desert has been something that tappers have been wanting for a while. We’ve gotten items along these lines previously but always wanted more.
Just a glance at some images from the WDTCFs from these items (click each image above if you’d like to read those posts) present some fun desert scenery.
Wowza… lots of cacti. I thought it might be fun to take a look at a Springfield Map I had to see the West Springfield desert area we might be seeing in the near future. You can click on it for a better view but the tan desert area is pretty easy to recognize. (Also might be fun to set up your own town similar to this but I digress.)
Maps are fun but what about other new stuff? Surely there’s other ideas. For a change of pace… I headed over to the Frinkiac with some key words and pulled some memes for my favorite tappers.
While I’m not sure we’ll be getting a flashback of Krusty’s USO tour that resulted in his daughter Sophie, this IS the desert. I spent a bunch of my life in similar circumstances so that’s probably why I wouldn’t mind seeing our favorite clown in DCUs. Some think Arizona or the Gobi when they hear ‘desert’… my mind goes to other places.
This next one probably gets my biggest vote just because I want to see Space Coyote from “El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)” (S8:E9). There could be a whole fun questline with the merciless peppers of Quetzlzacatenango. Who doesn’t love a good chili cook-off? I’d also love the chance to get more stuff to build golf courses.
“Marge on the Lam” (S5:E6) – We already got some of the goodness with the introduction of Ruth Powers and The Seething Sisters in Level 54 but the Badlands figured prominently in Marge and Ruth’s high speed chase with the Springfield Police.
Speaking of the Badlands, Alkali Flats is part of this area. Where else could an out of work Krusty go to broadcast himself when Sideshow Bob manages to shut down television transmitters everywhere in “Sideshow Bob’s Last Gleaming” (S7:E9). I think this emergency broadcast station could be fun or maybe we could even get the Wright Brothers aircraft and a task for Bart and Bob?
This image shows a few other ideas I had tucked away in my files. The top two images from “Marge on the Lam” (S5:E6) and “Sideshow Bob’s Last Gleaming” (S7:E9) were already mentioned but there’s fun in the other two images. I like the idea of Bloodbath Gulch from “Homer Simpson in: ‘Kidney Trouble'” (S10:E8) or The Outlands from the 500th episode aka “At Long Last Leave” (S23:E14).
So those are just some of my thoughts. Give the episodes a watch and see if there’s anything specific you’d like to see from them? Got any other ideas I didn’t mention? Hoping to see cactus patches make a return? Sound off in the comments and happy classy tapping friends.

I got my fingers crossed for Space Coyote!
Maybe we could get Outlands skins for the Simpsons, (and finally a skin for maggie) then we could get a Rebate Deal on the Jet Engine Bike and The “Simpsons Go To Hell” Float, since they were both from that episode. And “Moe’s Cavern” could be Moe’s building for the event since that was also from the Outlands episode. (also that would follow the recent trend of Homer, Cletus, and Moe getting event buildings)
I’m hoping it was a typo and the next event is a “dessert” event. Mmmmm….dessert…… 😉

Maybe we’ll get Donny’s Discount Gas! The Four Corners monument decoration and Apu’s apocalypse jeep will fit nicely in the desert area as well

But out of everything you mentioned, I would say the Outlands has the most event potential in terms of buildings, skins and characters. Some of the other ideas are cool but I can’t see what all they can base an event around

A Springfield Desert sign, a Marge cactus NPC or animated deco, the pyramid-shaped golf shop Homer climbed, sand. The return of the golf course or Stangnant Springs Spa or cactus patch or Five Corners. A school field trip or chili cook-off or Wild West quest line … There’s just much that it could be. I’m definitely looking forward to finding out 🙂

I couldn’t wait to get to this system message. Finally could partake in the spoilers. But now that I’m here, I don’t really have anything to say. Desert. Um. Dessert. Okay, here’s a quick etymology of the two words:
*Desert comes from Latin via Old French, pretty much as it is (so I say)
*Dessert comes Latin via Middle French, where a modern translation would be “dis-serve” or “disserve”. This explains the double S in dessert. It means “last course”, but more literally “removal of what has been served”…not sure why that makes sense. But this means dessert is a mandatory course. Kids, tell your parents!
I might have said this on another post but I really Do think that the exotic trees would look good on the desert. Another use is if the desert is like a new kind of terrain like a road or a river I could put some desert tiles near the Springfield Buddhist Temple, put some Exotic Trees on that and boom! Your very own zen garden! I also have Rakes from Terwilligers to add to it.

Maybe I’m the only one that isn’t that excited for desert stuff. Meh. Oh well…new stuff is new stuff and I’m sure I’ll buy it! BUT…if the space coyote IS involved…color me tickled pink!!! WooHoo!!!
I’d prefer a separate Badlands region à la Krustyland, so as not to take up space/memory in Springfield, but that doesn’t seem likely.
I’m a fan of the separate areas too. Just makes designs look cohesive. I know I’d most likely not include the KL stuff in my main Springfield if they weren’t separate.
I, for one, would welcome our level 60 overlords before another event.

I’m not objecting to a Wild West themed event, because it’s a perfect addition, I just want there to be a bit more of a gap between this event and the next. After the numerous mini event and a big one, I’d like about 2 weeks to a month just getting my savings up, redesigning… Maybe level 60…
Can we have a new level please? We’ve been on Special events since forever it feels like (Haloween, Eatsgiving, Christmas, Maggie-mass, SpaceHomer, Casinoland, and St. Easter). I appreciate special events, but they’re just invitations to go on mad tapping sprees to collect stuff.

My thought is that we will be able to disable all the glitz of the gambling buildings, and have them look deserted.

I was thinking about a Western event with Sheriff Homer trying to bring peace to Springfield Gulch from the evil forces of retired Col. Burns and his henchmen. We would have Western style outfits for most of the main cast. Gun fights and horse chases. Bank and train robberies. Just a few thoughts there.
