Spring Cleaning Wave 2 is Here…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just a reminder that Gil’s Spring Cleaning Rebate offer Wave 2 has hit our games this morning.  Here’s a reminder at what’s being offered in Wave 2…

Wave 2…Starts April 15th 0800 GMT, Ends April 17th 0800 GMT.

streetcleanerStreet Cleaner- This is a new item. 90 Donuts, with a 35 Donut rebate.  So a net cost of 55 Donuts.  I think this is going to be treated like a character.  So no bonus % awarded with it.  There are files that indicate it’ll have animation when tapped..and it’ll move around your town, “walk”, like NPC do.  Should be interesting… (yes, a Should I Buy will be posted hopefully later today on this)

tsto flower planterFlower Planter- 10 Donuts, with a 3 donut rebate. So a net cost of 7 donuts.  Offers a .25% bonus on all cash and XP.

nightmarepile_menuNightmare Pile- 100 Donuts, with a 35 Donut debate.  So a net cost of 65 Donuts.  Character tasks associated with this, questline as well.  Offers a 3% bonus on all cash and XP  Should I Buy (Personal note, I have this for sentimental reasons.  I honestly NEVER use it. )

museumofswordfish_menuMuseum of Swordfish- 70 Donuts, with a 25 donut rebate.  So a net cost of 45 Donuts.  Earns $350, 35xp/16hrs.  Should I Buy; WDTCF (Personal note, I will be buying this one this time around)

Note: Moe’s House and the Nature Bundle are both still around as well

Anything you like in Wave 2?  Will you be buying anything or taking a pass?  Why or why not? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Going against the grain here. Not interested in the Nightmare Pile or Streetcleaner but I think I may get the Swordfish museum. It’s a nice unique building for my sad looking Squidport. It’s the only area of my town I dislike (besides SH). I’m sick of looking at the same 10 buildings over there. Hopefully it’ll be the inspiration needed to finally design my SP!

    • If you’re looking for some variety, there are several buildings that can now be placed on boardwalk tiles. TSTO Addict has listed some on the open thread and I found a couple more.

  2. All these comments about the street sweeper almost make me want to buy one!! Stahp you guys, I really shouldn’t buy more donuts today!

  3. Was going to get Moe’s house.. or Street cleaner.. but think I’ll just pass on both.

There better be some good stuff coming out with the badlands event. This spring cleaning sale feels like they want you to spend all the donuts you got on hand so when a new event hits you have to buy another donut package.

  4. Veronica Shawcroft

I bought the street cleaner, Moe’s house and the green house collection. The street cleaner is cool and Moe needed a place to live but I’m not sure about the greenhouse. On the other hand, you get quite a few cool extras like fruit trees (both orange & apple), rose bushes, etc. so it’s not a bad buy.

I love the nightmare pile and use it all the time but for some reason, mine never unlocked all the characters (I bought it the first time around).

  5. I have read the SIB for the night mayor pile and the first time I agreed that it wasnt worth 100 donuts but I like some of the costumes but at 65 I’m not sure what would your advice be? I’ve already bought 1 of every other item in the sale because I knew I wanted it and was happy to go for the discounted price whereas full was a big no go but even at discount with nightmare pile I’m not sure. Plus I want to get the waverly hills elementary and know from a previous post that I will be happy with the rebate cost.

Thanks in advance and any helpful advice would be much appreciated.

    • my opinion is listed out in the post above. I own it for sentimental reasons, but I NEVER use it. So it all comes down to if you think you’ll use it..

      • Hmm In that case probably not as I usually head straight to my unemployment building to assign tasks and with my town being big I will probably place it and forget to use it before assigning everyone or just plain fotget about it like the moon bounce. and I have no sentimental attachment to it.so going on your advice I will probably pass.

  6. I bought the street cleaner and the nightmare pile but am starting to think I made 2 mistakes. Oh well, never mind, I got those donuts from the game anyway.

  7. For the past few days I began to notice the amount of money I have in my game was decreasing. I thought I was imagining things but it happened yesterday and again right now. The amount for today only is approximately 350,000.00.

  8. Does the street cleaner actually go through the streets? If so I may have to purchase but being cautious as a freemium player, i don’t want to get caught short on Donuts if desert stuff comes out,
Unrelated they should put a link to trade items so people who may have 2 of an item can trade for something they missed. Also do you think they may re-release monorail track as i have a friend who is short 1 curve to make a small oval. (Did I mention trading).

  9. The nightmare pile

I’ve been debating about this, but because of the rebate and mostly boredom (as we wait for a desert update) I might just get this. The idea of unlocking each character will keep me busy and something to look forward to as the time goes by. Though those kids have 4hr tasks already, Princess Martin skin doesn’t (I don’t have the ice palace) so I guess I can keep him in Princess Martin skin and send him on a 4hr fairy costume task when needed.

I have some more donuts in reserve for the desert update (or whatever) … I don’t like spending donuts without a character, but the 3% is attractive… Even writing this I still am not sure..

Honestly this item is more of a bonus to visiting neighbors (multi-costumed kid glitch) than to the owner… and with the rebate it is almost as equal to Arnie Pie (yet I know that Arnie’s Helecopter, can frustrate some neighbors) ….

With this said, I’ll leave it up to My Neighbors vote, Should I buy the nightmare pile or save up for something I think I MUST get? Should I buy Arnie Pie now and stop thinking about it or again keep my donuts until another character rebate?

    …this debating is a nightmare :p

    • Honestly it’s not worth it to me, just because you can only send one at a time. One lonely trick or treater is not as enjoyable as a whole town full of them. Plus the deco itself doesn’t really fit in anywhere since it’s an indoor bed.

(Btw I’m not technically a neighbour but thought I’d weigh in 😉 feel free to add me if you have the room. I have a queue of people waiting but have no clue who any of them are. I tried to search for you but I wasn’t sure on your username).

    • Re Arnie Pye, I honestly wish I’d never bought him. His tasks in the helicopter annoy me so much that I have him on 24 hour tasks permanently. I bought the nightmare pile but think I might regret it. My advice would be to wait for something better.

    • Well, The Nightmare Pile has a rebate and it won’t be in the store forever like Arnie Pye, and If you want Arnie Pye I advise waiting until Gil’s Black Friday Sale so that Arnie With a rebate. I hope this helps. 😊

    • I ended up getting it, but majorly disappoined about only one kids using it at a time. I hope they adjust this in the future. Anyone want to start a thread on the forums? (I don’t do that, LOL, but if presented a direct link, I will click it and help light up the topic.)

    • Oh, neighbor = me.

I’m not a huge fan of the costumes, but probably because I don’t have a sentimental attachment (from the game nor the show). So, it is mildly neat to see them roam around in costume, but not year-round.

I like the item itself more. But I think you can decide the merits of the decoration itself on your own. 🙂

    • And if you regret it after…..you can blame it on the neighbours,

      not playing that game,
but I bought it myself 😃

  10. I just bought the Street Cleaner but didn’t get it. Anyone else have this problem?

    • I bought it this morning. It just appears on your streets. Look around your town, you should see it busily sweeping away.

  11. WTH! I go to the store and the only thing that show up is Moe”s house and a random Recommended buy, right now it’s the wood chipper, earlier it was a swing set… tried going to Krustyland and back, a friends and back, nothing really helps…
    I want the street sweeper!

    • No one? Any help?

      • Expand your menu (tap the arrow) and click on the icon that looks like the street sweeper…

        • Thank you, I finally find it, never had to get to it that way before just now, , but now I also don’t see the nightmare what else is missing that was a Gil offer?

          • OK what a messed up way to get to these thing now what have they changed I don’t lie it! lol found everything…

    • Look in at the category view…it’s the street sweeper icon al the way on the right in the decorations row. If you tap that, you’ll see the Gil’s Deal items.

  12. I got the nightmare pile. Passed on it before because only one child could use it at a time, but I missed having the trick-or-treat task this last Halloween, so I figure one at a time is better than nothing. I don’t think I’ll be getting anything else, though.

    • Oh, I didn’t know only one child can use it at a time. I want them all on their trick or treat tasks at the same time :((( Now, I’m reconsidering if I should buy it, after all.

  13. Street Cleaner is first NPC ive ever wanted – wish they would make all our vechicles moving on their own

    • I dunno another car/npc is another car/npc to me. I’ve got enough stuff that just roams the town. Also, wow, it lights up when you tap it? I got other stuff in my town that does that…pass lol.

  14. A little buyer’s remorse on the street cleaner, but oh well. I really like everything to come with at least a joke or two but at least 55 is better than 90. I already had the Nightmare Pile and I recommend it highly. I have 14 characters who have a costume task there.

  15. I don’t normally like NPCs all that much…don’t think I’ve ever spent donuts for one and most of my free ones are even in storage. But this one is tempting…. 🚗

On an unrelated note…I HATE telemarketers who call at 8:30 in the morning and awaken me when I’m trying to get one good night’s sleep before the festival (which is exhausting and I don’t get much sleep during)! Grrrrrrrr! No one should be allowed to call before 10:00am, unless it’s a personal call, IMHO. I actually used to do telemarketing when I was in college, so I’m somewhat sympathetic to them, but not when they pull crap like that! 😡

Okay – time to eat something and then finish packing.

    • blackgypsyrose13

Isn’t there a law now that says they can’t call between the hours of 9PM and 9AM? When I was working at a call center that did surveys they told us that. But luckily we don’t have them calling here only people looking for donations and I hate that. I got caught by the National Police and Trooper Association a few days ago, now I owe them $20 just because I can’t say no ):

    • Are you tempted because this NPC is so far unique? Or maybe you just really want moving cars to counter all the static cars in our town.

You could set your phone to “do not disturb” mode. I believe, even then, you can whilelist some people that you’re okay disturbing you, like family. (I’ve never tried it, so this is just to get you a little knowledge.)

      • Lol – you’re assuming I have a smartphone. I have a regular landline (and both sets of parents have their caller ID blocked, so I can’t ignore “Anonymous” calls). Even my cell phone isn’t a smartphone…it’s a very old regular phone that just makes calls.

        • I have to assume. I can’t go back to living that way. 😛 plus, your parents can unblock their numbers before they call if it’s an emergency.

    • I bet our home phone (land line) hasn’t been plugged into the socket in well over 2 years …….everybody has a mobile these days
      ☎ 📞 📲 😃

  16. I have lost my virginity and am now a premium player. Had used up all my bonuts for the Greenhouse Bundle and Moe’s House. I just had to get the street cleaner as well.

  17. I’ve heard all the ‘sale before an event’ rumours so reluctant to spend my donuts just yet but seeing everyone happy with the street cleaner is making me doubt myself………..

    • I dunno to me its just another npc, sure its lights up, but big deal. Yeah its another car, but from the screenshot its not actually on the road, its off on the sidewalk. (Yeah, I know, that’s how the “humans” walk in SF, but its a street cleaner, not a sidewalk cleaner)

      • No it’s on the road too…It’s half and half…

        • That’s a better angle. (No offense to the original screenshot) A screenshot someone else posted looked like it was more on the sidewalk, but was a different view.

          • Sometimes it goes down the middle of the street, sometime half on the sidewalk, sometimes across paths between roads, and for people whose town has NO road……presumably it sweeps grass too, ……..not that I think you’ll be enticed
            😃

  18. The missions lasted 2 whole days.. now to wait 2 weeks or month for the next..

  19. I got the Museum of Swordfish since the price was good and I regretted not getting it the first time around. I like the look of the Street Sweeper, but spending money on NPCs always seems like kind of a waste to me. I’m tempted by the Nightmare Pile mostly for the costumes but unlocking them all looks like it’s kind of a chore.

  20. Yah, Nightmare Pile! Its animation is great: The clown’s eyes glow red, and the skinless Funzo flails its arms around. Where’s the doll from, and is there any significance to the comb next to the Monkey’s Paw (“Hell Toupee, maybe?) or the spiky thing next to Homer’s Chainsaw and Hockey Mask?

  21. I can confirm that the street cleaner does indeed move on its own along the streets. It’s wicked cool and made me so happy this morning.

  22. Is just me, or the aspirational buildings disappeared for you guys as well?

    • The buildings are still there, only the category is gone. You can find them if you just scroll through the buildings.

    • barleecreations (canid88)

They are not gone just moved, you can find them under the buildings section. EA sure didn’t make them easy to find.

    • Yeah, noticed that too this morning.

Their category’s gone, but I was able to find most of them (Sit-n-Rotate, Escalator to Nowhere, etc) by browsing the main “Buildings” category. The World’s Largest Zirconia is one exception; it can be found in the main “Decorations” category.

Definitely NOT a usability improvement, if you ask me. I’m hoping it’s just a glitch and that the dedicated category for them comes back soon…

    • I can’t find anything but Moe’s in my store even if I scroll through the buildings, characters or decorations…

    • OMG Guys Thank you so much! I’ve searched every category but not there. It is really not that easy to find. Thanks!! 😀

  23. Street cleaner is awesome. Hugs the sidewalk and moves at random through the town automatically. Definitely a great value to me for the donuts. Wish EA would have animated the tank like this or will do more self animated vehicles

  24. What should happen when you buy the street cleaner? I bought it, donuts paid and rebate returned, but I can’t find it anywhere in my Springfield, Not in storage eigther.

    • I hear that it can’t be stored. Try looking for it in build mode with everything but characters hidden. It might be stuck under a building or something.

      • Yes Simp7fan, I’ve seen it disappear under the prison wall, just thought it was sweeping the exercise yard
        😃

  25. I bought the laser tag and plan on using it as a hangar for my aiport since I don’t have the skating ring.

  26. Got the nightmare pile and the street cleaner!

Didn’t realise the pile came with a bonus. ..excellent ☆☆☆☆☆

Also the cleaner is like a little npc that roams around on the actual roads! I love npcs so especially happy with this purchase it’s so cute and lights up with revs when you tap it! Again ☆☆☆☆☆

  27. I got the street sweeper and when you tap on it the lights turn on for a few seconds. That is the only thing I dont have from this wave. I was hoping for some characters to show up this time around like Father Sean and/or Kumiko. I need them to finish some of my collections.

  28. I want to buy the sweeper right away…. I hear that it does indeed drive on the actual streets, but no one has been kind enough to post a picture. It hugs the side and moves very slowly. It will cut across non-road to get to more road. These are details I’ve read but I haven’t seen it yet.

I noticed that the reverend’s train basically works this same way. Lisa drives a small car but it is on the sidewalk.

  29. https://flic.kr/p/FSq3aG

    Yes I did, 🙂

    • So, can you confirm what Simp said in the post above yours about how/where it moves?

    • I hunted it down in your town to see how it looked/worked. Don’t worry, the Street Cleaner and any “innocent” bystanders were left unharmed. It’s kind of cool but I think I’ll have to enjoy clean streets vicariously through you. 😃

    • You’re the only neighbor I didn’t visit last night (looking for this thing) because for some reason I thought you had indicated that you weren’t getting it…. did you you not “indicate” that?

      • No Simp7fan, I said the opposite,
The nightmare pile and sweeper were the things I wanted, it was Moe’s house I was thinking about, ……but despite what everyone said about him needing a house, I thought…..no he doesn’t because he sleeps on yoga mats
        😃

        • lol. Yeah. Yoga mats and broken glass. And bar rats, real and figurative.

I’m pretty much considering not getting his house either. It’s not as pretty as those spooky houses from THOH, the brown ones. But I’d really like to see the animation.

    • Pics taken, posted in the SIB thread. Thanks!

  30. The Street cleaner is awesome! I’m Happy i bought IT! I also bought the nightmare pile and the swordfish museum because hey, YOLO 😁 ☺
